Modern Grantmaking is for anyone who is employed in the curious world of grantmaking, whether you work for a private foundation, a government funder, or a corporate donor.
Our aim in writing this book is to produce a practical guide that grantmakers can turn to whenever they are looking for some support. To make it quick and easy to use, we’ve filled the book with answers to real-world grantmaking questions.
But it’s about more than handy tips. Every grantmaker can be a reformer too - our book explains why this is so important and how you can get involved.
Recently moved from the fundee side to the funder side and looked EVERYWHERE for a book on grantmaking written post the start of the pandemic. Why are all books on this topic 15 years old? It’s surprisingly difficult. I was hoping to read something through an equity lens that talks about the privilege of this role. This was the only one I found. Luckily, I scored big time because book has been my textbook, bible, golden shiny precious item over the past few weeks. I feel like even if someone were just to read the first two chapters they’d walk away with some aha moments. I wish the managing up chapter was more substantial and had more resources and examples the way some of the other chapters did, as that is a topic I think most program officers tackle daily.
