Rate this book
A curvy party planner and an ex-military mountain man go from enemies to lovers when sparks fly as they plan his small town’s Fourth of July festival.

Rosie
The Independence Springs, Colorado, Fourth of July parade and celebration is one of the biggest in the country. And coordinating the whole event will be huge for my event planning career. Unfortunately, one of the local mountain men is being a real stick in the mud about the whole thing.

But underneath his grouchy exterior, there’s so much more. It doesn’t hurt that he’s easy on the eyes as well.

Ellis
It’s not that I hate the holiday. I like to observe the Fourth of July in my own way. And my small town’s annual festival isn’t my style. However, with Rosie holding the reins, I may have to rethink my position.

Will the spark between us ignite into something big or will it fade into the smoke like yesterday’s fireworks?

Rosie and Ellis' Story . . .

A curvy party planner from New York and an ex-military mountain man go from enemies to lovers when sparks fly as they plan his small town’s Fourth of July festival.

Ellis and Rosie’s story was sweet and steamy. Rosie is in town at her Aunt Peggy’s request to plan the 4th of July celebration when their normal celebration planner is out of town. Ellis Robson is an Army vet who prefers quiet to deal with his PTSD and panic attacks, so he heads to the mountains to avoid the noisy celebration. His first act is to remove the decorations his Grandma, the Mayor, had put on his store to blend in with the other storefronts. Rosie sees him removing everything and they clash at the beginning while still noticing their attraction to each other. When the Mayor arrives and introduces Rosie to “the Grinch”, then orders him to put the decorations back up, she and Rosie head for a cup of coffee.

Ellis is assigned to help Rosie out for the next couple of days before his mountain trip. He catches her as she falls from a ladder and insists on holding it until the job is finished. She tries some cake Ellis had made, which he later explained is a buckle, not a cake. Then he offered to teach her to make one. He is such a puzzle to her, and she is compelled to learn more about him. He has never laughed so much as when he is around Rosie. She is a perfectionist measuring the ingredients. Yet the daydreamer in her took her attention from the egg shell she dropped in the batter. All her fun antics end in what she calls a “happy dance” and all that wiggling has him squirming! And as he teaches her how to bake, she tells him she figured him out and he’s a good mean. Then she kisses him. He starts to pull back, then pulls her closer and deepens the kiss. By the time they collapse slowly to the floor, she knows she has fallen in love with this amazing man.

With everything ready and the tourists coming into town, Ellis knows he has to get out of here soon before things get too busy and too loud, especially when the fireworks begin. When Rosie and Nan talk, Rosie finally figures out why Ellis had to leave town. She finds him in the mountains and tells him she wants to be there for him, however he needs her, because she loves him. It seems that just maybe he can convince her to relocate from New York. He will be building a cabin up here for next year. Will she help with her hammer skills to build them their mountain getaway?

Wonderful!! This was a nice quick, short read. I absolutely love it.

Ellis and Rosie met when she comes to town to planned the annual Fourth of July festival. The usual planner can't do it this year so Rosie's aunt calls her to come and save the town. When she is walking around she sees Ellis taking down some of the decorations and she asks him why he's taking them down. Ellis tells her because he asked his grandmother not to put them up, but she did anyway. Rosie finds out that Ellis's grandmother is the town mayor. The next day Rosie is walking around town when Ellis finds her he tells her he's there to help her and be her handy man. Rosie has volunteers to help out in anyway they can but Ellis finds her on the ladder trying to put up some decorations. He noticed the ladder give way and he's catches her before she falls. He tells. her she should of asked for help or asked someone else to do it for her, but she tells him everyone was busy. He then holds the ladder so that Rosie can put up a few decorations. Rosie tries to talk to Ellis about why he doesn't like the festivities but he doesn't want to answer her so he tells her he doesn't want to talk about it. Rosie tries to figure out Ellis but he tells her not to bother. When Rosie's aunt is walking her around and talking to her about the dessert they have planned for the festival. Her aunt tells her to have a seat and taste some of the desserts. Her aunt makes sure to point out the ones that Ellis made, so Rosie sits and has some of his dessert. She notices it's the best dessert she's ever had. When she's moaning because it's so good Ellis catches her and asks her what she's doing. She tells him how good it is, he tells her he knows because he made it. He tells her he can show her how to make it so they head off to his home and he teaches her how to make it. Ellis notices the patients that Rosie has with the measuring and mixing. Ellis tells Rosie that he learn how to bake from his grandparents and it helped when he was in the army. When he was hurt he was sent to do the cooking. Rosie asks him how he was hurt and then notices the scars on his arm. She tells him what a good man he is then throws herself at him, she kisses him and then he kisses her back. Ellis tells her he wants her then Rosie tells hims he wants him too. Soon Ellis is striping off all their clothes then he sets her on the counter and pleasures her. They make love and Rosie has never felt more content. The next day Ellis helps set up all the chairs and tables before he heads out to his land away from the festivities. Ellis tells Rosie he'll be back tomorrow and then he'll take her out for lunch. When Ellis's grandmother, the mayor comes to find Rosie she tells her what a good job she has done. They've set a record in attendance and she tells her she has so much to thank her. Nan, the mayor, tells Rosie about how Ellis changed when he came back from the military. Nan asks Rosie if Ellis has nightmares and she knows that's why he doesn't stick around for the fireworks. Rosie finally understands why Ellis heads off and doesn't enjoy himself at the festivities. Rosie asks Nan if she knows where Ellis went, soon she is headed out of town to his camping spot. Rosie finds Ellis and he starts to explain why he doesn't stay but she tells him she knows why. Ellis has more to share but he'll open up to Rosie when he's ready. A year later, they stay a little longer at the Fourth of July festival this year. When the crowd starts to grow bigger they head out to their land in the mountains. Ellis and Rosie are married now and they built a cabin on the land. Rosie brings out everything they need to make s'mores on the campfire. Rosie lets Ellis know they'll be another one joining them next year at this time. Ellis asks her if she pregnant and she tells him she is.

Welcome to Independence, Colorado....Loved this Fourth of July romance

Stars, Stripes, and Mountain Man is the first book in the Holidays with a Mountain Man series. If the rest of the holiday themed books are as wonderfully charming and delightful as this book, along with a nice hot and smexy hit, then I am all in.
This story is about Rosie and Ellis. Rosie has a degree in communications and is the assistant to a very successful event planner in NYC. When her boss decides to take a month off Rosie is more than ready to decompress. But when she receives a call from her Aunt Peggy asking for her help pull off the town's Fourth of July festival as the woman who usually plans it had a family emergency. Rosie is more than happy to help as this will be a great experience for her. So Rosie books her flight to Denver and then hops the train to Independence Springs, Colorado. Rosie has not been to visit Aunt Peggy since she was a younger child so she takes notice of just how lovely the town has been revitalized. As soon as she arrives she starts to work and that includes discovering a new nemesis....who just so happens to be very handsome and makes her speechless. Ellis had joined the Army after high school and did a few tours. On the first one he was injured in this arm. After he got out he came to back to Independence Springs to settle down as his grandfather was sick. He bought the bait and tackle shop from his grandparents and he runs it now. Ellis likes a quiet life as he suffers from PTSD, so the Fourth of July festival is too much for him. The festival draws a lot of tourists to town and there is also a large fireworks celebration at the end of the night. So instead of stay in town he goes camping on his property up on the mountain outside of town. He is also a man who does not like all the decorations as to him they are just clutter. So when his grandmother, who is also the town's Mayor, had his store on main street decorated like the other stores, with bunting, flags and a giant wreath on the door, he starts to take it all down. Just as he has the bunting in his arms he is confronted by a voice that is not happy with him. When he turns around he finds a beautiful young curvy woman in front of him that he needs the bunting to hide his reaction to.

i loved this witty, laugh out loud, fun, sweet, and delightfully smexy book. The story-line kept my attention and the characters are wonderfully lovable and interesting. This book is a winner for me and a definite RECOMMEND READ! I can't wait to read the next to see how the town celebrates Halloween.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the Holidays with a Mountain Man series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Rosie is assistant in a very successful event planner in NYC, her bosses decide to take a month off allowing her to take a month off she is so ready for some relaxation, but her aunt has other ides when she calls requesting her help in the towns Fourth of July festival because their usual planner has an emergency, she is more than happy to help also, she sees it as experience. Rosie hadn’t been back to visit she since she was little but realizing just how beautiful her aunt’s hometown. Ellis sexy as all get out bait and tackle shop previously owned by his grandparents it calms his PTSD, so this holiday is a little much to for him to deal with, the people bother him, and the fireworks especially bother him to get away he goes camping up in the mountains on his property. Rosie aunt decorate his store like all the others on main street he takes down all the decorations as he is taking down the decoration Rosie isn’t too happy and confronts him about it but the attraction stops them both in their tracks will they continue the discussion, will he explain why he feels the way he does about the holiday, will she understand his reasoning and can a broken man find happiness with the city girl?

This is a sweet little story! The characters Rosie and Ellis have meet unexpectedly on the streets of Independence Springs. Rosie is helping her Aunt out by taking over as the Fourth of July event planner for Independence Springs. Ellis is the mayor’s grandson and he doesn’t like the Fourth of July. He goes up to his land every year at this time. This year he is helping Rosie put up the decorations on Main Street. As a favor for his grandmother. It looks like Rosie and Ellis are getting to know each other as they work, spending more and more time together. Ellis has fallen under Rosie’s spell! He feels the electricity when they touch - a warm, tender feeling comes over him. He has never felt anything like this before. Would she stay in Independence Springs? Can Rosie figure out what is holding Ellis back? She needs to help Ellis with his problem, but what is it? He thinks he finally may have found “the one”. It is a feel good romance with sizzle, heart pounding attraction, tenderness, caring and love. I enjoyed the story, the characters are so likable/lovable, and it is a heartwarming romance story.

Rosie is a party planner for the city and she comes to town to help out her aunt. She agreed to help finish up the planning of their annual July 4th celebrations when the usual planner is out of town. She meets Ellis when he starts taking down decorations that she hung up in his store. He was known as Mr. Grumpy to her until she got to know him better. Ellis is drawn to Rosie and ends up helping more in the prepping of the July 4th celebrations than normal. However on the actual day of the even he leaves for his cabin in the mountain because he needs to be away from the noise. After Rosie has finished her duties she goes to see him. Will Ellis turn her away? Can they find something with such a little time together?

This is an amazing story that will draw you in from the first chapter and leave you wanting more with the last one. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

osie is helping out to help finish the celebration planning for the town of Independence Springs. While seeing all the decorations, she sees a tall drink of water taking down the decorations. Not having it she goes to him.
Ellis doesn't mind all the decorations and celebration he just doesn't stay around for the celebration. Since getting out of the service he was diagnosed with PTSD. The fireworks are not good so he leaves town. Rosie goes over to talk to him but it hard when he so handsome.
Once they start working together, things stared to get more involved. The day has come for the celebration and Ellis is getting to leave to go to his cabin. Rosie realizes why he leaves to go somewhere quiet. Once is dawns on her, she gets directions to the cabin to be with him.
After getting married, they spend the fourth of July at the cabin with their own celebrations.

Stars, Stripes, and Mountain Man kicks off the Holidays with a Mountain Man series and is absolute Kate Tilney instalove awesomeness! Rosie, assistant to a high-powered event planner in Manhattan, takes advantage of her boss's vacation to head to her aunt's home in Independence Springs, Colorado, to help plan the annual Fourth of July Festival in the small mountain town. Ellis is the mayor's grandson, a veteran, and hardly a July 4th reveler after his time in the service. Rosie's first impression of Ellis is as Mr Grump, when she discovers him tearing down the decorations out front of his bait and tackle shop. However, as his grandmother ropes him into helping Rosie in preparing for the festivities, Ellis cannot deny his attraction to the bubbly, curvy young woman - and the feeling is mutual. This is a quick, charming, sweet and steamy instalove you will not be able to put down.

This is the first book the Holidays with a Mountain Man series. It’s a short, steamy instalove story. I read it in less than an hour. I love this author’s short stories. They’re perfect when you need a little break or you just don’t want to sink right in to another larger book. It always stories me how much can be fit into a short book like this one and not feel rushed. Ellis and Rosie’s story was sweet and steamy. Rosie’s in town to help her aunt and Ellis is an Army vet that doesn’t want to be around the town’s celebration. They clash at the beginning but they’re also interested in each other. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series

First things first; I like the cover of this book!
Stars, stripes, and mountain man is the first book in the ‘’holidays with a mountain man’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. When Rosie goes to help her aunt with the fourth of July event, she doesn’t expect to find love.
The chemistry between Rosie and Ellis is clear to see and I liked them together.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.

Stars, Stripes, and HEAs

“It’s as if once we gave in to the magnetic attraction pulling us together, nothing could tear us apart.”

Ellis and Rosie are so adorably sweet and just right for each other! Their insta love attraction starts with a slow burn as they seem to be at odds over the July 4th celebrations. But with the more time they spend together, the more their happily ever after is in reach. Both Ellis and Rosie are so drawn to each other that they create their own fireworks!

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this quick story about Ellis and Rosie. She's an assistant to an event planner and had been asked to help her aunt in Independence Springs for the holiday. Ellis is a resident and grandson of the mayor, but he's but to big on the festivities. As a ex solider, it brings back memories. When they meet there are sparks. Fireworks continue to fly between them two. Great HEA.

This is a fast paced, sweet, short, Holiday romance between Ellis and Rosie. Ellis is retired military and owns the local bait and tackle shop. Rosie is an event planner in town to help her aunt with the 4th of July celebration. I loved the way the author brought these two together and how they both have an instant attraction to the other but don't show it. I was cheering these two on to get their happily ever after. Great writing and loved all the characters in this book. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

The author has given us a wonderful short read that pulls us into the lives of Ellis and Rosie. When she arrives in town and meets Ellis, they have an instant connection, however, she is only staying until after the festival that she agreed to coordinate. Will their connection be enough to keep them together?

I am always a sucker for the big guy with a heart of gold. The mountain/military man troupe is one of my favorites. While there was a little friction on first meeting there was plenty of chemistry from the beginning. The story is exactly what I come to expect from the author, great story with a HEA.

A beautiful holiday love story

I'm so glad I ran across this book. Love mountain men stories. This was such a good story. Rosie on vacation for the month of July, her aunt needs help for the 4th. Works out well plus she Mets a mountain man. They started out shaky but ended up getting along very well. Read the story, you'll enjoy it. :)

good, fast read

This is a good, fast love story. I only wish is that it was a bit longer. Ellis is a veteran who suffers from PTSD. Rosie is an event planner that has been “recruited” by her aunt to help with the town’s Fourth of July celebration. Ellis and Rosie may try to be annoyed with each other, but there is instant chemistry and everything is smooth sailing to a HEA.
