There are so many reasons this is a terrible idea. This woman is eleven years younger than me. The center of my best friend's universe.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, I’m a professor at her university.
But none of that changes my desire for her. Harper Cain, with her sharp mind and sweet disposition, makes my blood catch fire in a way I’ve never known before. Especially because I know what’s hiding behind her studious, shy facade.
I didn’t meet Harper in the classroom. I met her at Wyld, the exclusive club where men like me can have our most thrilling needs met.
Harper says she wants to learn from me, and not just in the classroom. And I can’t stop myself from imagining all of the things I could teach a woman like her.
I don’t care about the risks. I don’t care about the reasons this shouldn’t happen. Harper is mine.
She just doesn’t know it yet.
Step behind the steel door and meet the men of Club Wyld—demanding, dominant, and oh-so-delicious!
Violet James is an author of swoony, steamy romance novels with a soft spot for dominating alpha guys who love big and fall hard. Violet’s writing is fueled by diet coke, chocolate ice cream, and a coffee addiction the size of Texas. When she isn’t thinking up books that would make her mother blush, she’s likely to be found traveling, hiking, blasting 90’s rock, and reading all the romance novels she can fit on her kindle.
I got this for free on Amazon. And I admit that I genuinely enjoyed reading this book! It reminds me of Sara Cate's Salacious Players Club Series.
The scenes are extra spicy and good! I liked that the characters are interesting too and that the story is mostly about trust and family as well. Sucks that the research thing was forgotten in the end, but it's okay. I also would've loved to see her overbearing brother to be more acceptable in the end. I'd like to think that he will eventually but that epilogue will do.
I got this book as a part of that Stuff Your Kindle sale and I was pleasantly surprised. Was it the best book I ever read? No. Was it the worst? Also no. We meet Harper who wanders into a Dom/Sub club and runs into Nate. Nate frequents the club and they instantly hit it off and have off the charts chemistry. After their eventful night, Harper is out to breakfast with her older brother, Mason and he invites his friend who's also a professor at the university Harper is about to start and it's none other than Nate. Wild, right?
Let me start off with what was insanely good... the spice. This book hands down earns those three chilis I gave it. The scenes are unique. They're full of chemistry. There's enough without overkill. And it happens from the beginning of the book all the way until the end. This is probably one of the most deserving of three chilis books I've ever read.
Now, let's talk about what I didn't love. The plot line was fair. I don't think it was the most captivating one I've ever read but it was fair enough to keep me going. What caused me to dock some points is that I hated how Harper was so quick to say "I don't need school - I need Nate!" One of the main character traits of Harper is that she's completely devoted to her studies and profession. It made me roll my eyes and agree with her overbearing older brother on this one. I even supported Nate in his decision because of how dumb that statement was. However, I am glad it worked itself out in the end and that she promised to continue on with her education.
Lastly, I don't like how the research project just got dropped and never heard of again. That was a main plotline throughout the story and for it to go so unfinished is just odd. I think it should have just been completely removed from the story line to make more sense.
Overall, I do recommend this book if you're looking for a spicy, quick read.
HEA Standalone, no noticeable crossover in main or side characters from book 1, except for club members (the ex and the guy that paid for the raffle tickets in book 1)
Trigger warning Death of parents BD SM lifestyle (it is a book series about a club after all)
This is no vanilla, fade to black book. The scenes described in this book are for adults, over 18 only, that can handle spice instead of steam.
She is a grad student that gets a pass to enter the club. She knows what her darkest desires are and yet she is too ashamed to admit her need. She thinks she can just get an inside look, study what happens, maybe talk to others and figure out where this desire is coming from. He notices her right away and decides to give her a truer introduction into the lifestyle. Everything seems to be going great until lunch the next day when they find out who the other truly is. The baby sister of his best friend, the famous author/professor at the college she goes to that happens to be best friends with her older brother. Then it gets more complicated when she is placed on his research team. Inevitably they catch feelings, but will they be caught?
The first book the author seemed to concentrate on the message of consent and trust. This book feels more like a message that you can have a real relationship while also in the lifestyle, you don't have to choose if you find someone that is also looking for the same, and that there is no reason to feel shame for the desires you have. Not every story has a moral or educative goal, but these two seem to pick points and stress them to make the reader understand.
This book took me longer than normal to get through for me. Especially for a kindle book. It wasn’t that this book was bad i don’t think, it was more that it just wasn’t the genre of kink i was interested in reading at the moment. I switched to another 4 book series in the middle of reading this book so i took a couple day pause in the middle so when i came back to it it was kind of hard to remember the setting of the book and where we were at in it. So once i refreshed my memory the book finished smoothly and kept me interested.
The book starts with this college student going to get masters but the night before she goes to the sex club in hopes of learning more so it will aid her in her masters program that she is about to start. She was supposed to go with her roommate but she got sick so she went alone since the tickets were a big deal to get. Her first couple minutes at the club she gets noticed by the dom who hasn’t taken a sub full time ever. He has a dark past of a fiancé who got away because of his dom side. Anyways she hooks up with him while he shows her around the club and they leave thinking they will never see eachother again, well until the next day and her brothers invites him to lunch to introduce himself because he is also her idle in her field and she is going to work under him all semester. Well shit hits the fan between them obviously and they decide to never speak of it again. Well when she goes back to the club to meet someone new he sweeps her up and offers to train her in the life. Well of course while training her he falls in love with her and her with him obviously. But once her brother finds out they break up and are bother miserable until her brother gives her the all clear but of course makes sure he knows he will be hurt by her brother if he doesn’t take care of her, ya know typical. Anyways they get back together once he decides to quit teaching till she is done with her masters so it doesn’t ruin her reputation. They live HAE.

Contemporary BDSM rom com First person, double pov TW: minor mention of past physical abuse
This was a cute bdsm/teacher romance, also has a brother’s best friend plot line! I also didn’t realize this was an age gap romance because they’re both older and in grad school, The main character is 24. So in terms of structure, the sex/bdsm pacing is well balanced by rom com vibes so it’s not as dark of a book.
For BDSM, it seems like they establish good communication and education for a relatively new person and boundaries are well discussed, aftercare is mentioned after scenes though he doesn’t check in on her a day after the first sex scene. Some of the later scenes are fade to black and you find out about a few more kink progressions in the epilogue.
Sex scenes: about 4 sex scenes, (and a bunch of skipped scenes) more orgasm scenes, bdsm included: restraints, spanking/pain, voyeurism, exhibitionism, dom sub relationship, some praise, but I don’t think it’s too intense, the last scene at the very end is a little on the intense side though.
Medium to fast pacing, In terms of time jumps, you get a time jump of three weeks in the beginning after they meet where nothing happens sexually but you miss conversations, you also get more time jumps “the next week goes by” and then “several more weeks” while they’re at the same location, then two months go by??? In a tell not show manner “I find out he likes xyz, we talk a lot” noo
In terms of the teacher aspect, you don’t really get much of what they’re researching or what a class with him even entails. You also pretty much find out about it being a bigger age gap around page 150 but it doesn’t play into miscommunication as much.
The third act breakup isn’t that bad, pretty short lived too tbh
Violet James's His to Teach is a captivating blend of romance and exploration, offering readers a journey into the complexities of desire and intimacy. Set against a backdrop of undeniable chemistry and well-defined kinks, this book proves to be a delightful escape into the world of spicy romance.
From the outset, James skillfully introduces us to characters who are not only compelling but also refreshingly multifaceted. The dynamics between Dom and sub are portrayed with respect and authenticity, making the story both enlightening and intensely satisfying for fans of the genre.
Moreover, James's prose is as engaging as it is evocative. The narrative flows seamlessly, drawing readers into a world where emotions run high and desires burn bright. The steamy scenes are expertly crafted, leaving just enough to the imagination while still delivering on the promise of sensuality and heat.
In conclusion, His to Teach is a standout in the realm of contemporary romance, offering a richly satisfying blend of story line, character development, and spicy encounters. For readers seeking a romance that explores the complexities of desire with depth and authenticity, Violet James's novel is not to be missed. It's a compelling read that leaves you both breathless and eager for more.
Harper has been curious about her sexuality and possible sub lifestyle. She plucks up the courage to visit Club Wylde where she meets the stunning Nate. He’s a Dom that is more than happy to show her the ropes that first night and she can’t stop thinking about him. When she comes face to face with him when having lunch with her brother Mason, they both play dumb. After all Dr Jonathon Chase, one of Mason’s best friends from university, doesn’t sound much like a Nate to Harper. He’s a famous author in his field and his programme is the university is one that Harper is aiming to get into when she starts graduate school. It’s a small world… He forbids her to return to the club but Harper knows it’s something she has to dig in to further, a part of herself that she needs to explore. Nate ends up stepping back in and together they develop a deep bond and an intense and loving relationship that simply works…until Mason turns up with coffee and discovers a shirtless Nate in her kitchen having breakfast… This was a well written and cleverly thought out read. The two of them can’t fight their attraction as when they do it breaks them. Shatters them They need each other to complete themselves. Brilliant.

Harper is about to start her Masters Degree in the study of Human Sexuality. But the shortly before the term starts she finds herself with a special pass to an exclusive club that caters to the kinkier side of life. As not only a scholar, but one who has a genuine interest in the lifestyle, she goes in and finds herself introduced to the club and some of the wonders by a handsome older man named Nate.
Thinking she will never see Nate again, she partakes and goes on with her life... until she has lunch with her older brother who introduces her to his best friend Chase... the man from the club. Worse yet, he's Dr. Chase - famous author in her field of study and one of the professors at her college.
Now she needs to figure out how to give into her new desires, keep her brother from finding out what happened AND not fail her classes.
++++++
very nice and steamy spice. I liked how it actually showed a caring D/s relationship that did not have the Dom being someone who could not control himself and manipulated the sub to bend to his will. The two actually have conversations (what a concept)
What I did not like was that at some point, the degree that Harper was super focused on just kinda got thrown to the side as some sort of macguffin just to keep the two main characters interacting.
I probably will read others in this series as it was enjoyable enough.
Last year after reading Sara Cate's Salacious Players Club ai absolutely wanted to find another Dom like Emerson Grant , and this series by Violet James is truly the next best club series and it is so underrated on Bookstagram and Booktok. And this series needs to be produced by Joe Arden at Blue Nose Audio for audiobooks. I need to own these in audio.
What tropes do you get? 🌶 Age Gap 🌶 Brothers Best Friend 🌶 Forbidden love ( hes the professor in charge of her research project) 🌶 He Falls Hard and first 🌶 Dom/ sub BDSM
Really Nate falls for her from the very first time he saw her, he was completely overcome with the need to introduce her into the lifestyle, to care for her in a way that goes beyond a pleasure Dom experience. He was concerned about every aspect of her happiness. Was she eating, if she appeared stressed he wanted to immediately take it all away. Sadly there was a third act breakup , but it did allow for greater communication between Harper and her brotber about the loss of their parents and gow she always felt she was a burden.
Nate and Harpers relationship was absolutely beautiful I hope they come back in a future book.
2.5/5 This was my bad, I didn’t pay attention to the tropes. If I did I would’ve known it would piss me off. Still fun
Brother’s best friend. 😒 third act break because of the brother. 😒third act breakup bc the older brother doesn’t see her as an adult person who can make her choices 😒who PUNCHES dude in the face ?? 😒and then she proves the point by acting like a child and saying she’s going to quit pursuing her degree bc she loves him??? 😒
THE CLOSET SCENE. made me angry actually. Was it fun? Yes. Was I thinking the whole time that this doesn’t really make sense in the context of the story or the character motivations? Also yes. What do you mean you value yours and her career so highly and then potentially THROW IT AWAY?? When you pay for an exclusive sex club where role play like that would’ve been SAFER for both of you. And then you say “I care more about making her feel better than the rules I have in place ABOUT MY PLACE OF WORK” okay dude.
So many little moments that just missed for me.

When Nate and Harper meet at Club Wyld, it is instant attraction on both sides and even though she is completely new to submission, Harper shares a VERY hot scene with Nate. Both are looking forward to more - until they find out that there are several obstacles in their way. Their desire is too strong to resist however and so they embark on an affair that threatens both their careers as well as close family ties. When things come to a head they must decide what is really important. I loved Nate's and Harper's story because for me it has everything a great romance needs: attraction, emotions, a real life struggle, extremely hot scenes and great characters around them so that their love story does not exist in a vaccum. I sure hope that some of them will get their own HEA in this series and look forward to the next one!

When Harper decides to go to Club Wyld, she didn’t expect to have her dreams come true. She literally runs into Nate before entering and he gives her this subtle warning, but Harper decides its time to live dangerously. Nate shows her an evening she won’t soon forget and leaves her wanting more. Things become complicated when she meets her brother for their usual brunch meeting and his best friend from college shows up…Nate! Things get even more complicated when she’s awarded a spot on his research team for her masters degree. This is a dangerous liaison territory, but as forbidden as it is, love always trumps the rest…right??? Nate and Harper were so good together. He understood her better than anyone and she was so eager to share things she didn’t share with anyone. The “lifestyle” and Nates baggage with his family helped him to relate with Harper even with their age difference.

Harper has a guest pass to Club Wylde to learn more about alternate sexual practices for her master's and to learn more about herself. There, she runs into Nate and has an experience neither ever expected. The next day, when Harper meets her brother Mason for brunch, his best friend from college joins them....Nate. Neither knew the other was connected to Mason and are shocked. Worst of all Nate is the professor at her college and the head of a research group Harper wants to be on. They can't deny the attraction, the chemistry is intense, and they try to hide their relationship. But everything blows up on them. The book has steam, tension, betrayal, and more. I love this seres and am looking forward to more for Violet James. You can read both of these books for FREE with your KU subscription. Great Read

Harper is working on her Master’s degree, studying human sexuality. She wants to get on a competitive special research team, when she makes it, she discovers the professor in charge is the same Dom she met at Club Wyld. Nate is a member of the exclusive sex club, and also a college professor. He and Harper shared a brief, but very intense evening at the club. Their attraction to one another is strong, but Harper can’t risk her college education for a fling with a Dom, no matter how sexy he is. Also, Nate is best friends with Harper’s brother, Mason. Their situation is quite complicated.
I liked Harper and Nate’s story. Harper is curious about her own sexuality, and wants to explore her submissive side. Nate is all to happy to show her all the BDSM world has to offer. He understands they’re playing a dangerous game being together, but neither wants to stop…until they have no choice. A few twists in this, and a wonderfully dirty, and beautiful love story.
Harper is supposed to go to Club Wyld with her friend Emma. Emma gets sick so she sends Harper to go by herself. With Emma on the phone hyping her up, Harper bumps into a nice man who's walking into the club. What she doesn't know is that the man she bumped into can't stop thinking about her already. When she's being shone what the club is like, the man she bumped into swoops in and takes over showing her around. What is it about him that gets to her?
Both Harper and Nate are so hurt and broken. The way they meet is cute. Her first night at Club Wyld with Nate is life changing for her. When she finds out about how Mason knows Nate is chilling. Seeing Nate at school has set Harper's blood on fire. I love it when Nate loses control. The way they connect is beautiful. How Nate helps Harper is lovely. Emma is a great friend. I get Mason's concern but he went about things all wrong. I really enjoyed this. So much emotion in this story. What a ride this was.
This book is written beautifully, from the way the characters’ thoughts are laid out and how it’s so easy to picture everything. In that respect the book is 5/5. It also gives a huge insight in to what kind of doubts and expectations you would have about leading a dom/sub lifestyle which was so carefully written. I think the scene that really solidified that was the supply closet scene, it really showed how they interact and understood each other on such a deeper level than other sexual relationships, whether you agree with it or are in to it yourself you really don’t have to be to appreciate the level of trust shown between harper and Nate. This book is wholly based on sexual awakenings and discoveries so the plot aside from the sex wasn’t that strong, that’s why this book wasn’t 5 stars for me. Maybe if it had a more exciting outer story it would have bumped it up. Obviously this book was supposed to mostly sexual and in that respect it’s such a great book.

This story is so good. You will be craving more. Nate is an alpha Dom who has learned not to mix his real life with his Club Wyld life. He needs that control but he doesnt want to get hurt like he did in the past. Harper knows she needs to submit but is trying to figure out if what she feels for the lifestyle is real or just needs a connection. She goes to Club Wyld to find out. One night she learns is not enough with Nate. Hes everything she ever wanted. He makes her feel amazing not ashamed for what she desires. Only a few problems, he turns out to be her brothers best friend, and now a professor at her college. They agree to stay away from each other but the desire is too strong. This book is amazing.

If I thought I liked book one, book two is like it’s decadent older sibling because holy heat!
Harper and Nate’s story is swoony and heated and just all the best things. Harper is trying to discover whether or not her desires are something she truly wants and after scoring tickets to Club Wylds public night she’s about to get a crash course. When a dominate Nate saves her from me creeperson things go from awkward to bonfire.
What was an amazing night goes sideways at lunch with her brother when Nate shows up. Don’t want to give it away but this is so much more then just a bdsm story. It’s age gap and forbidden romance and maybe even a little bit of the fairy tale all girls want. Some one to love them and put them first. And hey bonus if it’s in bondage!
Nate meets Harper at Club Wyld and takes her under his wing. However, they soon find out that she is his best friend’s sister! He decides that he cannot have a relationship with her based on this but their chemistry soon overwhelms them booth. They share a clandestine relationship though there are so many barriers to their happily ever after. I loved Nate and Harper and thought they were so great together. Their characters had a lot of depth and you really felt for Harper’s sadness land insecurities, and loved how Nate tried to make things better for her..

Harper studies kink because she's trying to figure out her desires. She thinks she should be ashamed of them and goes to a BDSM club to get a taste. Nate finds her there and is interested even after he finds out she's a student. He thinks there's no way she could be his student but then she is. Their interactions become somewhat unbelievable because he's a grown man and can't seem to control himself. It seems that he would do a better job of looking out for her. The scenes were good as he introduced her to BDSM, it just had a little too much angst and I didn't like her level of shame. She's a woman studying kink, so it seems she should have dropped the shame faster.
This book is very different from all I have read so far I think it's a good representation of BDSM but Im not informed or experienced enough to say that for sure. It was great, I loved the story, I felt the pain the joy, the anger and the sadness (not related to the smut, which was very well written btw) I bought this precisely because it was different and it didn't disappointed, actually informed a little I always felt the same shame and the whole "its wrong" vibe and the feeling messed up but this book made me have a new view of it, see it more openly, which im grateful for Also, I hated her brother like 90% of the book but nickname, and the relationship between Harper and Nate was so pure and beautiful, I seriously loved it

Harper knows what she wants in life, but she’s always wondered about her desires. Getting a pass to Club Wyld changes everything. The first night there she meets Nate and he makes her feel things she’s never felt before. Him taking control gives her freedom she’s never known. Until her brother introduces her to his best friend Nathan – or as she knows him Nate. Nate was determined to stay away from relationships with how his late one end, but he can’t stay away from Harper, she’s perfect. Harper ends up on Nate’s research team, they both think they can’t keep things separate. Harper is everything Nate was trying to stay away from, but together they’re perfect. Can they keep things separate or will it all start to fall apart.
Second in the series and I haven’t read the first not releasing (stupid me) that it was a series but thankfully it can be read as a standalone (interconnected I assume with the rest of the series)
I was excited to read a “teach me” trope as it’s one of my favourites yet I don’t come across too many. It wasn’t too bad I did enjoy it but I didn’t have the urge to binge it. The FMC had a nice character growth but felt like it was a fairly predictable plot. The Dom X sub was done well with a few bits that I felt didn’t portray the life very well but overall enjoyed it. The spice was ok. Nothing that had me blushing too hard 🤣 but to be fair I do read some smuttttty books 🤣
Not in a hurry to read the read of the series but think I’ll come back it it sometime 🤷♀️
Our couple knows what they want, even though there are several reasons to say "no." But then, where is the fun in that?
This is a short erotic romance with several different elements going for it, including older/younger, taboo and some D/S. What a wonderful combination of flavors. The story is well written, easy to read and very steamy. I rather like both of our characters quite a bit and enjoyed watching the dance they performed as they pursued their desires. The result was highly enjoyable and definitely left me ready to explore more from this author.
Highly recommended

I loved this book! I got it on Stuff your kindle day and I was so pleasantly surprised.
Harper's struggle with her sexuality is I guess, what a lot of other people go through as well. I liked how through the book she managed to accept herself truly and that wanting what she wanted was okay. I liked that she managed to talk things through with her brother as well. I loved Nate's pov. He was so intense about her and his feelings were so strong. The way he knew her and what she needed was awesome. I also love how Harper has a little rebellious side. It definitely made things interesting between them.
I am definitely on my way to read more books of this series!
“Just like that, Harper. That’s so good. So perfect. Good girl.”
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75/5 POV: Nate/Harper Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 Tropes: BDSM club, age gap, brothers friend, professor Ending: ❤️❤️❤️❤️/5
This was a good book with a nice storyline. Before I actually finished the book I was assuming the ending was going to be anticlimactic. I had a gut feeling I wouldn’t be THAT happy with it but the last few paragraphs changed my mind. I’m happy Nate finally giving her a collar. That really made the ending much better for me.

I feel like this book was a pretty good representation of the BDSM world. But I feel like something was missing from the storyline itself. It just felt like it was right there but just not there for me. I enjoyed reading the book, but some of the parts I felt were not necessary and could have been left out and some parts were kind of repetitive in the storyline itself. You could already see where the story was developing too and I think that's what holds me back a little in this I was able to foreshadow what was already coming next. It was still a decent read to kill some time it won't be continuing with the Club Wyld n Novels though.
Oh holy hotness what did I just read! I could not but this book down; I was hooked from page one and I didn't want it to end! I was blow way by Nate and Harper's story. These two are amazing together and are perfect for one another. Yet, no mater how perfect they are, the world outside the club, each of their pasts, and a future unknown to both threatens to tear them apart. I can not wait to see what happens next with Club Wyld! I would HIGHLY recommend this book and Ms. Violet as must read author.
