I made a huge mistake. I was complacent, and I was captured by the one entity in the universe that has no regard for Intergalactic law. My ship, designed and built by me alone, has been seized and sold. Just like me. Until he rescues me—the handsome Hychee on a mission with his friends. Nothing can go wrong, right? I've already survived the worst the universe can throw at me...
Taur:
My friends and I are on a mission to get the Makkesh back to his home planet in time for his breeding season, but things go badly wrong. A pilot error resulted in losing our ship, and we're forced to attend an auction in the worst of sectors to find another. We do, but nothing prepares me for the possibility of finding my mate in the process. Our mate. Once I find her, I stop at nothing to keep her.
Mika:
The breeding season is almost upon me, and yet again, I'm without a suitable host to implant with my eggs. In my world, the continuation of the species is priority above all else, but everything is conspiring against me this time. Buying the odd little ship at auction turns out to be a gift I never expected...and possibly my saving grace. The stowaway isn't mine to fall for, but the beast in me doesn't care.
Camry:
The universe has been kind to the Vennex. It has given us wealth and reputation, riches beyond compare and an eye for pretty, valuable things. We can buy and sell whatever strikes our fancy—the more expensive it is, the faster we buy it. My friends and I are on a mission to get Mika home for some mating ceremony, and a simple mistake on my part costs us our transport. That simple mistake has the potential to reshape my—sorry, our—futures in ways I never imagined. Some things, sikas can't buy. They need to be earned. The imp is the one thing in the universe I can't afford to buy...
So, so disgusted by this book. It could have been truly amazing too, and seriously hot if Arin could have been written to admit she likes being dominated from the get go.
But instead, here is another author that thinks they're writing a strong female character, that essentially gets raped, over and over, until she says she loves the male characters. And don't lie to yourselves, consent because you feel like you have to isn't real consent. It's still rape. She hates the way they make her feel weak, cries about it. But they're hot, and they'll just keep giving her orgasms until it's all okay in the end.
No, it's not okay. Dragging a strong woman down and rape are not okay.
Before I even talk about the book, I want to say that I think that Kay Elle Parker's descriptive language in this book is awesome. It's really evocative, and I highlighted several phrases that I really liked.
Now on to the book. I really liked Arin. She is very strong, very determined, and very clever. I mean, she built her whole ship on her own, which is pretty dang awesome. I totally get where she is coming from most of the time.
I liked Taur when we first met him. Same with Mika. It took me a minute to warm up to Camry, at first, but there came a time when I liked him more than I liked Taur or Mika. Camry might've been a jerk at first, but he was an up front jerk, and you knew what you were getting with him. All the guys did redeem themselves in the end though.
“Knot?” My voice is sharper than a laser scalpel. “Whatdoyoumeanknot?”
I jumped in to this book without really looking at reviews or much about it online. I saw it recommended in a group. It wasn't what I was expecting. It was my first Sci Fi RH, I don't know why this isn't more of a thing, I really want it to be, but it seems to be slim pickings.
It was a bit more dub/non con than I was expecting in the beginning, and then from there I felt like she forgave really super fast and then it was suddnely insta love. I wish there had been a bit more development between the two stages, it just seemed a bit sudden between them. And some serious breeding kink, which seems to be pretty common in alien romances too. But if you are looking for a romance with 3 aliens all with crazy fancy peens this is the book! lol
When I heard Kay Elle Parker was writing a RH book, I wasn't sure I would like it. I LOVE her other books that I've read but I'm not a fan of RH. Going in with an open mind, I was floored by how much I loved this book. She's a strong woman who doesn't take gruff from anyone and the guys (aliens) are super hot and super dominant!! There wasn't one bad thing about this whole book!! And can we talk about that "tail"? WOW!!!!! Ms. Parker has definitely hit this one to outer space and I will happily wait for more!!!!!
This story is absolutely exceptional, enchanting, enticing and everything in between. Taur, Mika and Camry each on their own are stunning but together they are off the charts. Arin is sassy, funny and oh so lucky. This author has a way of writing that will absolutely immerse you into the world she’s created. Describing it and the characters so well it was like having a movie play out in my mind. I hope and pray that we get another Sector Five book from her!! One just wasn’t enough.
DNF. This book trampled all over the non-con / dub-con line and reduced a strong female character into a breeder dump for alien males that confused Alpha with a**holes. Totally pissed me off how she was used
I wasn’t able to finish this book, there were just too many things that made me cringe. Like every other person who picked up this book, I was obviously in it for the smut. However, both that and the plot sort of ‘fell off’.
What do I mean by that? Here’s some things: -Annoying female lead that is whiny and immature -Consent? -Mixed werewolf tropes with aliens -The three main male characters are all one dimensional, without deep thoughts -Random violence, just for dramatics
This story had great flow, the characters were loveable or hate able, but made you feel. There was also funny moments in this book. I love Kay Elle Parkers stories and her characters are always exceptional!
As most people know about me, I am not a huge fan of Sci-Fi, but when I was told that I had to read this new Sci-Fi book, and to give it a try, I did. And wow! Am I glad I did. It’s so much more than aliens and humans and how they meet. It’s about 4 different personalities who come together under unusual circumstances and try to make a go of an interesting relationship.
Let’s start with Aria, the female human. She is a spitfire, full of sass, intelligent, feisty and looking for a family, even though she won’t admit it. During a horrible circumstance, Arin meets Taur, a handsome warrior who instantly becomes enamored with Arin and wants to protect her. He just knows she is his mate, but she slips his grasp and gets away. We also have Mika, another warrior who has special needs when it comes to females, but has such a heart of gold. And then there is Camry, egotistical, arrogant, and yet funny and endearing. The three of them become friends somehow and when circumstances arise where all three come to meet with Arin, prepare yourself for a hot, delicious, wild ride.
I honestly didn’t expect to laugh at times during this story, but I definitely giggled with some of the interactions and that is one thing I really loved about this story. While it definitely has its serious side, it’s also light hearted at times and I rooted for all four of these unique characters throughout the story. I hope that this author continues in her pursuit of writing more SciFi stories because I can tell you she has found a fan in me!
This romance was very enjoyable. The world building was fascinating, with all the VERY different reproductive biology of the three heroes, who were all different species. I loved how the heroine was almost pathologically attached to her spaceship home! It was played to great comedic affect, and reminded me of my father’s attachment to his ancient junky car. I will admit that I had a definite favorite hero, one I liked, and a least favorite. I thought the MM interaction was unsatisfactory, since they did not seem to have any romantic inclinations before that point. I prefer my MMMF romances to have established romantic commitments before the heroine is introduced to the mix, as a general rule. The heat level in this novel was absolutely sizzling. I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful romp. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, and checking out the author’s backlist.
Got it because of high reviews. Disappointing. No plot so to speak, almost the entire book rolls from one sex scene to the next, with the lead female being impregnated in freaky ways by multiple alien mates with marginal consent…not what I was expecting.
Hella good book to read. Couldn't put it down at all. Didn't take long for me to read this book. Im still like wow to this book because it had me on the edge of the seat. I highly recommend it. I already know a few people who would love this book.
I'm not really into sci-fi but this book kept my attention the entire time. Great plot and characters. Well written, attention grabbing and worth the read.
Arin, is human. She has built her spaceship from scraps and ingenuity.
When captured and taken for auction she is rescued by the protective Taur. She ultimately ends up back on her ship with Taur and his two alpha alien partners, she escapes into the human-sized spaces between the hulls.
This is super sexy and quite hilarious. There is real danger nearby. Each of these growly aliens have much to offer. If they don’t work together, they may kill each other.
Fascinating world building and detailed character building. Pure entertainment. No matter the genre this author continues to exceed all expectations.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
Wow! This book. I mean when you say Sci Fi RH and Kay Elle Parker in the same sentence how can you go wrong? You can't. This book was fantastic! I definitely recommend this book.. This story was great and my only wish is that I could be Arin for a day. Take me. Sell me. Save me. and Protect me FOREVER...
I really liked this one!! Kay never disappoints. I love everything she writes and she writes just about every genre!! Arin didn't put up with sh!t and i loved that about her.
Do not expect a complicated story, this is not a space opera or any sort of science fiction genius. This book is alien erotica with a simple escapist storyline. That being said ... I ended up really liking this. :)
I have enjoyed this authors contemporary books and I love that she has dipped her pen into the sci fi reverse harem genre and WOW I wasn’t disappointed… I loved all the characters in this story with Arin being the strong independent, defiant and sassy human who escapes a bad situation only to be saved by 3 dominate alien males, Taur a faewolf shifter, Camry a Vennox with a persistent tail and Mika’s a Mekkesh with tentacles in an interesting place, who had taken her most prized possession her ship the Mothstar. The suspense, drama and fan yourself steamy scenes with all the happy feels made this one hard to put down book and I know I can’t wait to read more..
When Taur meets Arin, he knows she's his mate. Then Mika comes in the picture with his unique needs and Arin just needs to help him out. Along comes Camry into the triad and he's just an alpha-hole from the start but he does have this special tail attached that has it's own mind about where it should go and what it should do. I enjoyed this adventure in life and love that Arin and her alien men go thru, and Kay Elle Parker proved again that she can write any genre and make us love her books even more. I hope for a continuation of these characters, there are a few questions I have after all was said and done. This does have a HEA, I just want MORE.
Wow!!! I loved this we get a sassy strong willed human Arin that just blows your mind in her strengh then her Aliens she meets who are all unique and are Super dominant and protective and let's not forget sexy and together they are pure fire. This is finding family and acceptance and is written so well in depth of each character and so easy to read. It's addictive and I can't wait for more.
Once again, Kay doesn't disappoint. Arin is fiesty from beginning to end and doesn't just roll over for an alpha man (or three). Also ... Hawt doesn't begin to cover it.
I absolutely loved this! I loved Taur and Mika, and Camry eventually grew on me. Arin was everything you could want in a fmc. She was strong, loving, and although she was no pushover she was willing to compromise to make all three alphas happy. Her alphas were also willing to bend and compromise for Arin to be the family she needed. I truly didn't want the book to end. Thank you so much for this awesome book Kay Elle Parker and please give us more of their story.
I like strong, sassy, smart heroines who also have a sense of compassion and empathy. This heroine has all of those characteristics. And I like the three alpha males and the way they interact with each other and with her. Hot sex scenes doesn’t hurt either. I highly recommend this book
I'll admit that sci-fi romance in general isn't usually a genre I go for, but I've enjoyed everything else by KEP. For sure, it definitely took me out of my comfort zone, but in the end, I enjoyed the overall story. The breeding k*nk is really heavy-handed and I'll admit, really out there at certain points. But the way this world was described, the different cultures of the males, tied it into the plot believably.
Taur was my favorite from the beginning; Mika and Camry seemed to start their connections to Arin by needing more than wanting to be with her. Plus Camry started off as more of an a-hole. But the changes in all four of them was enjoyable to see. They all become so devoted and protective, not because they have to anymore, but because they all become one unit.
There's a decent amount out outside action, and I loved the descriptions of the ship, too. Overall, still a lot of weird alien action, but a hot, funny, interesting read.
