Gabe Moore gets everything he wants, and right now, he’s got his sights on Laura Smith. Unlike any other woman, she’s not intimidated by his power. His wealth doesn’t delight her. Only when he fires her does he get her attention.
The harshness of life has taught Laura she can only rely on herself. This crime lord monster won’t make her beg. If he wants her, he can have her, but she’ll never fall in love with him.
For the first time in his life, he’s the one doing the chasing. Laura won’t let him into her heart, only allowing sex. He’ll possess her body, but what he really wants is to own her heart, where he sees the pain she tries to hide.
He’s fifteen years her senior, but she's the woman he’s been waiting for, and there’s no way he can let her go—even if it means putting her life in danger to be with him.
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
"What's Your Price?" is the story of Laura and Gabe.
The book begins with our mafia hero trying to puruse the waitress heroine. He tries his best at courting her, but our independent heroine refuses, only for him to take matters into his own hands. They eventually enter a sexual relationship, feelings get involved, and the hero soon decides to take revenge on her behalf..
I enjoyed this! It reminded me a lot of "Elijah", one of my favorite SC romances, but this heroine was even more self sufficient and made the hero work to win her over. I wish we had more romance between them, but the epilogues made up for it.
Eh. It was okay. I found it very dry. It was lacking in emotional connection. The characters had sob stories but it was unimpactful. I felt nothing for this couple. The story played out nice enough but I was uninvested in it. It wasn’t bad just weirdly bland.
°Non virgin heroine °Manwhore hero °Switching POVs °He's 40, she's 25 °She's been celibate for 7 years °No OM drama °OW drama caused by one of the hero's ex-lovers °No cheating °The heroine was sexually abused when she was a teenager (off-page) °No intimate scenes with OP °No separation °Pushing away from the heroine °Epilogue: 3 years and 25 years later
A quick but very hot read!!! I loved Laura and how she totally stood up to Gabe. She's been raised in the foster care system as long as she can remember and she's kept things locked up from her past. Gabe runs the whole city and when he sees Laura, he immediately wants her but she refuses him at every turn. She sends gifts back and while she'll talk to him, she won't let him control her. She's swore to herself that will never happen again. So what happens when he takes steps and she loses her jobs and her rent is suddenly raised? Laura knows who is behind it so she makes a deal with him. What kind of a deal you ask? Well, you're gonna need to get the book to find out but I loved her whole attitude and over time, I came to love him as well. Yeah, he was a jerk at first but then he realized how special Laura is. Can he win her over and make her believe in love?
Although Sam Cresent's book lack in writing and concept but we still read them due to cheesy romance and magnetic chemistry between main characters. But this book lacked in even that. There was no relationship building or reason for the characters to like eachother. H basically threatened h to sleep with him and author played it like h wanted it.
The cover was so promising... but unfortunately the story didn't really touch me emotionally. At times it seems flat and too superficial. - This disappoints me a bit as I know Sam Crescent can usually do it better. But - as always - this is my personal taste. Other readers might really like this story.
Style: Crime Boss Romance (Age Gap) Story: 3.5/5 Enjoyment: 3/5 Dark Level: 1/5 (mild) Sexual Level: SEX-CITINLY GOOD Triggers: Yes Violence: Yes Male: Obsessive & Sexy Series: N/A Pages: 112 Audio: N/A Kindle Unlimited: No
STORY: So I really really really love the concept of this story. It’s not anything new for me, but love it, nonetheless. Gabe is a crime boss, and he is not use to hearing the word no. He gets what he wants when he wants, so it’s baffling to him that Laura keeps telling him no and wants nothing to do with him. He did find Laura’s price for getting what he wants. Good, love it. However, my bag deflated because I felt Laura caved in too quickly. My excitement was coming from the chase and seeing this dominant tough guy working for it. Yes, it’s a quick read, but the build up needed to be a bit longer for me in this one. Also, based on Laura’s past, I understood why she caved quickly, but the chase was one of the exciting factors for me. This author always gives me curvy women which I love and an age gap of 15 years (Prefer 10, but it’s ok)
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY: Sex scenes were good, no complaints in this one.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS: There really wasn’t anyone that stood out to have their own book for me.
OVERALL: My personal preference doesn’t take away that it’s still a good/likable read.
✰✰TRIGGERS: Laura’s past in foster care and what happens to her while there.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
First things first; I really like the cover of this book! This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Gabe is a feared man in his city. He gets what he wants. When he spots Laura, he wants her. The problem is, she is more stubborn than he expected and she isn’t afraid of him. Laura has had a tough life and she doesn’t let men or money control her. When Gabe refuses to give up will Laura finally warm to him? The chemistry between Laura and Gabe is clear to see and I liked them together. I loved both Laura and Gabe. The sexual chemistry between them was through the roof. I loved how kickass, feisty and stubborn Laura was. I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.
Laura didn’t know what it is that Gabe Moore wants. She has no interest in the man. He just keeps getting in her face. Gabe knew when he saw Laura, he had to make her his. But she it tough and wants to be left alone. He is going to change all that. He will find out what makes her tick and change all that. I love that these two are from the streets. Both had a terrible start in life. We learn what drives Laura and it is heartbreaking. But she is a strong woman and stands up for herself. She loves who she is and no man can take that from her. Gabe maybe a big king of the city but he learns that it isn’t anything without your queen. He learns about Laura’s past and wants to make everything better. You can take away the past but you can make the future brighter. Gabe brings that light into both their worlds. Strange how it is a man that actually is bringing in the light and not the woman. I enjoyed this story.
Gabe and Laura came from similar pasts and forged a life of their own. Laura was hard and doubtful of people especially men, so the attention she garnered from the King of the city didn’t sit well with her. There more she rebuffed him, the harder he tried until he finally won her over.
Once Gabe found that Laura was so different from any Oman he’s ever dated, he needed to know more. Once he knew more, he wanted to have her as his forever. Once they got rid of the threat to their lives and he knocked down the wall she’s built around herself, he found that he too got more than ever imagined.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and couldn’t help but want Gabe and Laura to come together.
I am going to make this review quick and to the point! This book was so good! Gabe Moore is the epitome of the male species. He was the crime load of the city with unlimited power. Gabe Moore is a guy who takes without asking. In his corrupted world, everything goes! Too bad he had to work to get into Laura’s great graces and I MEAN WORK!
Laura Smith was not impressed with Gabe Moore wealth or his advances. Laura is my kind of woman! She was tough and cool at the same time. She made Gabe work for her attention and more!
Laura and Gabe was an interesting couple who went back and fourth in this war of love. This book was amazing and 5 stars all the way!
When Gabe a major kingpin sees Laura he knows he will move heaven and earth to have her to possess her. But Laura isn't that easy shes very complex and has a painful past.
This was an intense yet powerful read i loved how strong and powerful Laura is and how she holds her own against Gabe. Yet i also adored how Gabe makes her strong yet is able to see her vulnerabilities.
I don't know what it was that I did not like, but I did not enjoy this book.
The writing was fine, so were the characters. I think what killed this story for me was its lack of differentiation. It was no different than any other novel and provided only the basics of this trope, adding nothing onto it. With most other stories, we have some attempt at being unique. That was nowhere to be found here.
This love story was a wonderfully slow build up and a fantastic HEA. Both of these characters survived similar backgrounds, and only together did they find the strength to recreate happiness. I love the depth of the characters, and the amazing twist to the bad guy. The author has added another gem to her library with this story and I just know her next release is bound to be just as good.
This book was Phenomenal! I absolutely loved it from beginning to end! I thought it was different from Sam's other books and can't wait for the next book to come out!! A definite must read like all of her books!!
This book was great I love it. It has twist and terns and ups and downs in. But they they figure it all out if it’s put together wonderfully I would recommend this to anybody they get their happily ever after
Normally no am a fan of Sam Crescent but this book missed the mark for me. Overall it was ok but I was never really fully invested in the characters. Too much $$ for these tiny little "books". You feel even worse about the purchase when the book is not all that great.
I enjoyed this book. It was very invigorating. Had some drama a little venture. Very interesting. Had a little bit of fun scenes in it which I enjoy. I had a bit of action moment.. but all in all very entertaining good Read.
What a great book!! I just absolutely loved it from beginning to end! I can't wait for the next book to come out!! A definite must read!! Happy Reading!!! :)
This was a nice quick read. I just loved the H in this story. He wants what wants and get it. And I love how h stand her ground but still feel in love.
