Wow this book has a lot of twist and turns in it. A Ceo with a big ego about women after his money or his ability to better their job. A girl who tells him what she thinks. He wants to play with her and she don't play. A great read but is a series so the story is in four books. The last in December 2021. 😊
This is an engaging story about a handsome egocentric billionaire and a naïve young girl, almost a modern-day fairy tale. Newly-hired Ella falls in love with the successful CEO of the corporation she works for. Graham is a mature man accustomed to having women fall at his feet, attracted not only by his looks but also by his money and position of power. But Ella is not like these women. Though her feelings for Graham are real, she is wary of his ruthless ways, both in his business dealings and in his relationships with women. Graham is immediately attracted to her but thinks he can treat her with the same disregard he treats all women. He finds her resistance infuriating and reacts with scorn, thus putting a rift between them. It takes almost losing her to make him realize Ella is not like the women he’s used to, and that she’s the one for him, the only woman he can be happy with. This book is part of a series and ends on a cliff-hanger. It will be interesting to see how Ella and Graham’s story evolves in the next installment of the Salamander series.
This is a story filled with a young girls naivete and a jaded older man trying to find their way in the world. This is the first part of the story that obviously follows through to other books. The story of this couple promises to be heartbreaking at times but I have a feeling it will be rewarding in the end.
I didn't get past the first chapter. This was terrible! Sounds like it's written by someone who doesn't speak English as their first language. Reminded me of those articles written by random people who are paid by the word and how many hot button words they use. Sad ..
I have just finished this book and I don’t know what to think of it. It is a really strange story. It is about a girl, Ella, who applies for a job at a corporate company, where a man named Graham works. She is apparently vetted as his ward. The style of writing was very unconventional. There are very little actual conversations in this story, almost everything is written from a third persons POV.
The girl did not know who was in front of her, but she knew it was necessary. The ladies, who had questioned her sternly only a few minutes before, suddenly straightened their backs, pulled their bellies in. They began flirty to fix their hair and smiling. The man stood against the sun, and Ella could only see his figure and smell him. He stood like that for a while, shoving his hands in his pants pockets, then crouched sideways on the window- sill and asked: “How do you like it here?” Ella flinched, awakened from her stupor, and answered, looking straight ahead: “Yes, I hope I am a good fit for this company. I will try very hard to meet your requirements.” The man tilted his head slightly, straightened up, and answered in a neutral, polite tone: “I hope you like it here. Of course, if our esteemed colleagues will accept you into our team.” He quickly rose from the windowsill and quickly left the room. The space of the room seemed to be empty. Ella could not see that Graham turned and nodded slightly toward Ella to those ladies in boring business suits with a smile as he left the interview room. They knew now that this candidate was right for him.>
Right for what? To be used for sex trafficking? Is this some secret ploy to get her to be used for nefarious things? What kind of book is this?!?
Later she gets interviewed by the hot shot himself:
He seems a total CREEP! And she a loony because she apparently is ‘haunted by his blue eyes-he seemed to penetrate her very soul’. And he only gets creepier and creepier:
It was right in the sense that Ella was always ready for an alien attack, as she joked when discussing the Chief’s habit of dramatizing the situation with her colleagues. The bad thing was that it was hard to know how serious the problem was if it really existed. The Chief kept everyone in suspense this way. It was his game at work, and he took undisguised pleasure in influencing his subordinates. Everyone had to know his place in the system of relationships in this company. The Chief had created these unwritten rules in recent years.>
Okaaayyyy… don’t know what to make of that??!
Then they suddenly hook up but the next time Ella is invited to the big boss’ office, it is because of the following:
“You know that what happened between us must remain only between us.” Ella tried to smile, answering in a pleading tone: “Yes, of course I understand. Everything stays just between us. After all, we had such a good time! And, it will still be if you... You only want to.” There you go, too easy prey. Graham was losing interest. Graham interrupted her: “No, Ella... you do not understand. Nothing is going to happen anymore. What happened be- tween us resulted from being too romantic and drinking too much wine. Or, something stronger. It was all a mistake and I apologize for the way things turned out.”>
So basically, Graham uses girls. And Ella is heartbroken and decides to quit. Weirdly, Graham doesn’t want her to, but she quits anyway, but meet six months later and marry?! And then he leaves her again, so no HEA ending. WEIRDDDDD!

What if a naïve young woman falls in love with a billionaire playing his game with her? Ella is a young woman brought up in an atmosphere of respect for her as a person. Graham is a billionaire and the head of a huge corporation, a proven conqueror of hearts, who still has not found his love.
It would seem that nothing binds them together except the relationship of a leader-subordinate. But Ella does not allow Graham to use himself in his usual corporate intrigues. Ella gradually gets to know Graham as a person. It imbued the young woman with sincere feelings for him. She awaits his response to them.
Graham does not expect this and thinks he can end the invisible connection that has appeared between them at his will.
What will prevail - the cold calculation of the lone wolf or the warmth of her love? There is a first story about a woman who goes through life’s trials and learns to stand up for herself in love and business.
This is one of the strangest books I have ever read. Don’t waste your time unless you have the next book ready to read to see what is happening to these strange people.
I honestly struggled to get through the first couple of chapters before admitting defeat. I'm not sure if English is a second language, or if there was just serious need of another set of eyes.
DNF - this was such a hard book to read. Not sure if English is not the native language of the author, or if it’s just the writing style. But it’s was so difficult to get through the first few chapters and so difficult to follow the story. Would not recommend.
Author's shameless opinion - we all want to find our true love. But if it is not clear - is this love or not? Maybe from the Graham this is only a possession? This is my first romance and I would read it again and again to remember the good feeling of creative work and romantic atmosphere of this story.
