This book was an utter mess all throughout. Every single character pissed me off, especially Draco and hermione. I stopped rooting for dramione because of how OOC and toxic and utterly disastrous they were together. The story was unnecessarily stretched for 400k words and it was just redundant self-loathing and pitying on both character’s ends that just drove me mad.

Hermione was SPINELESS, she was like Bella from twilight, utterly fixated on Draco no matter how utterly disgusting he was. Draco legit cheats on hermione with Astoria and the author tries to make it seem like he was obligated to sleep with her as he is her husband and can’t say no when I call utter BS. He could have said no. He was just a selfish coward who only cared about himself and played both Astoria and hermione. He was kinda like canon Draco who didn’t do anything and just sat there wanting to have his cake and eat it too.

Hermione was a down-right doormat. She had no self-respect and integrity. She was justifying how Draco and her essentially having an affair was justified solely cause it was an arranged marriage and since hermione is oh so “modern”, she just acted like it was the malfoy’s fault for following the regressive practices. She had no shame whatsoever with continuing the affair even after Draco knocked Astoria up. She continued giving him chances on chances with the age-old excuse of “I am weak for Draco”. Girl, you are an embarrassment to the OG hermione granger.

She was so so sooooooo OOC, it made the story a pain to even take seriously. It was like a cheap wattpad fic. I don’t understand the mentality of people who like this book and give it even more than a star when it honesty deserves a 0 or a negative rating in my opinion, it was soooo bad.

Also, I should have listened to the other reviewers who warned against this book. I fell for the angst and thought it won’t be that bad when it was exactly like how they said it would be. I thought I won’t be siding with Blaise like they all did but I literally now understand how dirty the author did blaise’s character out of sheer bias for her terrible execution of dramione. Blaise honestly didn’t do anything as horrible as Draco did in my opinion. And this is coming from someone who is such a hardcore dramione fan.

Hermione was such a self-righteous and sanctimonious hypocrite throughout this story. She always wanted to act like a victim when she was the one who was the most toxic one out of all and she dragged her friends down with her into all her mess. She used Blaise and discarded him the moment Draco came back in her life. She emotionally cheated on Blaise by imagining Draco during intimacy. The author tried sooo sooo hard to paint Blaise as the ultimate villain when it was Draco and hermione who were really the 2 most selfish people who honestly deserve each other.

Hermione played Blaise around like elena from vampire diaries. She was always lying to him when he was trying to give her space and be empathetic towards her, and then snapped at blaise when he was literally justified in acting the way he was when he felt he would lose hermione. She accused him of being a jealous caveman and not trusting her when she actually did not deserve his trust at all. From the moment she met Draco again, Blaise was right with his insecurities, she refused to share anything which Blaise and fantasised about Draco and fixated on him and even had lusty thoughts of Draco. But the moment Blaise acted on his insecurities and tried to cling to her, rather than understand Blaise like she expected everyone to do for her, she gaslighted him into thinking he was the problem.

She can forgive Draco for knocking up Astoria and willingly cheating on her but she discarded Blaise just because he hid the fact that he was friends with one of his ex friends with benefits girl. Even when he came clean, hermione kept bringing that fact constantly to start about arguments. She was just trying to find excuses to find faults in Blaise so that it makes her own nonsense with Draco justified. Blaise never once cheated on her, and she did emotionally cheat on Blaise, and then acted all hurt that he hid an ex from her and lied.

Yes, one thing I will acknowledge, that Blaise did push Draco into marrying Astoria and did constantly tell hermione to break it off, which might make people think he was manipulative. I started off hating him too, but then I realised, just how much he actually waited till he took those measures. He gave Draco countless chances with hermione and Draco was the one who didn’t do anything to approach hermione and when Blaise took his chance, Draco guilted him that he can’t see Blaise and hermione together. He didn’t want Blaise to approach hermione, nor took any initiative himself. He was also given countless chances and years to break out of his betrothal contract, he still didn’t do anything to get out of the marriage coz he thought he “didn’t deserve hermione” … bohoooo again a pity-party throwing coward justifying his inactions. And btw, Blaise did back off of hermione after Draco told him too.

Blaise was actually a good friend to him unlike Draco coz Blaise also loved hermione since 5th year. Had hermione stumbled into Blaise the night of Draco’s stag party when she was drunk, they could have had a good relationship. Blaise and hermione were actually really good and healthy together. They had an amazing dynamic and I rooted for them when I usually hate secondary characters with leads. It was Draco’s coming back that made hermione push Blaise away and then paint him to be a bad guy just cause she wanted Draco back. Everyone knew and told she will fall back into the same pattern with Draco and that wench kept on saying no it won’t happen again and then literally the exact thing happened. It was like Tessa and Hardin, but ten times worse and more toxic.

The author said Draco slept only once with Astoria when she guilted him on their first anniversary which Ed to Scorpius’s conception, when Astoria herself said in Draco’s memory that they indeed sleep together or got intimate on her birthday as well 8 months or so ago. They also slept together on their honeymoon. He had the audacity to get jealous when hermione went on dates and bought Astoria to where hermione was meeting some other guys and used Astoria to make her jealous. He kissed her in front of hermione and attended galas with her publically and didn’t even bother looking into a divorce until a year into her affair with hermione. He was okay with sleeping with H while claiming to be in love with her all the time but didn’t even bother looking into a divorce just because hermione hadn’t confessed if she had been serious about him. He legit went to the divorce lawyer the night after sleeping with Astoria and 2 whole months after hermione told him she loved him and wanted something serious. She gave him multiple hints to end his marriage and yet he didn’t catch anything. Anytime hermione tried to break things off, he cornered her and manipulated her via sex and shoving himself into her space knowing she won’t be able to push him away.

All this mess, and yet Blaise was painted out to be the villain. These 2 truly deserve each other. What utter shit. The dumbest excuses to get the leads to be together and wipe out any competition by making them seem like the antagonists. Hermione never once even bothered to reconnect with Blaise and just have a talk with him. Even at the end, she saw him and practically refused to even greet him when Draco was the only one to nod at Blaise. She acted so immaturely when she was what was wrong.

Also, what broke the camel’s back was the infamous accidental pregnancy trope shoved in towards the end. Author made hermione pregnant and for a moment when the doctor told the timeline and it was a possibility that it might be blaise’s, I was sooooo excited for that twist coz Draco legit deserves a taste of his own medicine. But I was sooo disappointed when it turned out to be Draco’s. It was so laughable. Hermione herself says that it’s nearly impossible to get pregnant with just one sexual encounter and she did actually ended up conceiving right after her first time or so with Draco. The authors just love to contradict themselves when it comes to their bias ship.

I loathed hermione and Draco. Blaise deserved sooo much better. Hermione created a scene over blaise’s letter when all he said was the truth. He said she needed to sort herself out cause she was broken and no one wants to deal with that & realistically, he was actually right. Hermione acted so “hurt” by Blaise calling him broken when he said the truth. She was broken, confused and downright depressed. She had severe abandonment issues and she literally became dependent on anyone who she had a relationship with. She felt lonely and always wanted someone to follow her around and seek her forgiveness and to have someone by her side in bed when she felt alone, she herself acknowledges this. She was soooooo toxic and selfish. She put everything on Blaise. When pansy told her the hard facts and insensitively called her out on her shit, hermione was okay with it, but the moment Blaise does it, she lets him go and doesn’t even try to mend it with him.

These 2 were the most immature dramione character takes I have read. One of them but definitely one of the worst ones. They are incapable of having a decent conversation and talking about stuff. Their entire affair was a sex fest and I hardly felt any emotional connect with the 2. The author decided to throw in the “soulmates” trope which made it even more cringe. Yeah, you are soulmates, and yet you sleep with other people and refuse to take a stand for something that’s soo damn rare to happen to anyone.

This was an angsty story just for the sake of angst. I honestly saw no growth or felt an ounce of positive feeling for these people while reading this. It got so bad that I skimmed the last few characters just to finish this horrible story that I wasted by time on.

Save your time and don’t read this utter mess. I have never hated hermione more. If you want a cheap ass wattpad story, unnecessarily dragged on for 400k words with just the same shit push and pull in every chapter coz the author literally had nothing fresh or different to add and didn’t know what else to write other than coming up with childish excuses and throwing other characters under the bus to justify her romanticising the infidelity committed by their leads, then do go ahead. Every person who thinks these were decent characters and story should get their brain assessed. This was like a Colleen hoover book, but more so if not equally worse. Do yourself a favour and pickup something else.

This story was in one sentence “laughable and an utter waste of time and braincells.” 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

2☆ Enjoyment
3☆ Quality

I can't handle a WEAK Draco. This is the worst Draco in all the fics I've read.

My rounding up to a 3☆ rating is due to the author's writing skill - not the characters or the ridiculous story.

Goodreads should give us credit for number of words read. Phew! That was a long journey! And of course I cried like a baby through half of it.

The writing style was really good but the storyline didn’t really stick with me and even thought it is a slow-burn it was a bit too slow burn for me 😭😭

This book could definitely be great if it is what you are expecting from a dramione fanfic 🫶🏻🫶🏻

(3.5) wow. this book was amazing, the author is incredibly talented. it really should be included with dramione classics (isolation, bmbs, trtttd, etc) as a must read.

you know? this book had zero chances for me when I started it. the length, obliviation trope, infidelity, soulmates...it's just something I wouldn't have chosen if not for how many people recommended it. and I acc really really liked it.

the amount of development and depth this book has is outstanding. we got to understand every character, sympathize with their choices and dilemmas, it was very interesting and realistic. just like the therapy, mental health and relationship problems. everything was a wow for me.

i don't really have anything objectively negative to say, the rating is personal preference because despite admiring the depth of the book it felt very tiring to read that many chapters. i don't enjoy this amount of length; i was doing pretty well till chapter 50ish when they started viewing Draco's memories. i would've preferred a single chapter summarizing all they saw in the pensive and a time skip i dunno. it took a lot of effort to finish it.

also, as I said, this particular themes and tropes aren't my cup of tea. i still strongly recommend this fanfic. it's amazing.

Some difficult topics for me to read about. Not that I have any experience with them myself, but simply some topics I do not enjoy. Great premise tho.
Also, I felt that the story dragged by the end. I even skipped a few chapters in the end as I tired of reading of memories. Plenty of angst, yes, but some... lightness would be very much appreciated.

4.5 stars. This book was A LOT. And I mean that to explain it’s length and it’s attention to detail. There we’re absolutely no corners cut in diving into the heartbreak and angst of every moment in this story. I’m not usually into a book that takes place so much inside peoples heads but there was enough story progression to keep me interested and honestly, if there were less introspection it would have fallen flat.

No rating because what a... mess?

I'm not sure wheter it was just an okay read or if I hated it.

I was rooting for Blaise and then the author made it so that everyone hated him just to make Draco an option again and force the dynamic between him and Hermione making it so toxic and rushed.

loved this fic. memory modification. angst.
it starts with hermione modifying draco’s memory to remove all traces of his love for her from his memories. all at the “request” of lucius so that draco can be faithful to his wife, astoria. yes, there is infidelity, but give the fic a try, it’s more than what it seems!

The way they made Blaise a villain seriously frustrated me to no end. I did NOTHING wrong. Hermione played with that man’s emotions and did him wrong. I wanted to punch her so many times in this book as well as everyone how hated on him. JUSTICE FOR BLAISE!!!

Just Wow! This was so Incredible. I cannot express just how much I loved this Fic! It was Beautifully written, I’m just floored. I started this one after seeing a tt. The infidelity clip I came across caught me. I was like this one is going to hurt me and I feel like I need that! Boy was I so unprepared. AHHHHH. I was instantly pulled in and read up to 35% in the first sitting. I loved getting all the povs, I could neverrrr like Astoria, just EFFFFF her!!!! Ugh! I get it, He should have stopped everything from the beginning, but everyone shares a piece of this blame. This is definitely a tough one to read if you don’t do well with cheating. My heart was on my sleeve. I had so many tears and it was so hard to swallow the lumps in my throat. There are so many misunderstandings and words left unsaid. There is a buildup and the reader is just left in limbo waiting for everything to crest! Right when I thought I was seeing the light, I was shoved brutally back into the darkness. It was sooooo dang good. I couldn’t get enough, it was sooooo hard to put down. I binged this in 3 days. I was so consumed. This is definitely a top read so far! The emotion it pulled from me! I loved every bit of it. The ending was fantastic. I highly recommend this fic!

Here are some of my favorite quotes:

"Memory is all we are. Moments and feelings, captured in amber, strung on filaments of reason. Take a man's memories and you take all of him." - Mark Lawrence, King of Thorns (The Broken Empire, #2)

I will hold on to the memory of you. I’ll remember everything for both of us. - Granger

Other men look at you, but you can never look back at them because you know nothing will ever compare to being loved by a Malfoy. No one will ever consume you and make you feel so deeply. - Narcissa

It was worth it. It was all worth it if he's happy. Every hour I spent crying was totally worth it if he's doting on his son and enjoying his new life.- granger

What had I lost that my body so desperately wanted me to remember?- Malfoy

"We had an affair and you Obliviated me, didn't you?" - Malfoy

In a way, I’d traded one vice for another — alcohol for Draco, Draco for Blaise… - Granger

It doesn’t matter how it ends — I just needed you to know what you mean to me. - Malfoy

And I’m still here, in the same little house, just living with the memory of you. - Granger

3.25-3.5⭐️

this wasn’t the type of angst I needed nor wanted, but it truly showed the different faucets of life and I really like that. like a very angsty slice of life. While this may not be my favourite dramione fanfic nor am I likely to recommend to anyone because of how much I didn’t like almost everyone in this fic if someone was looking for this type of content, I would recommend. I think It took me longer to finish than a measure of a man did because of how much I just felt exhausted by everything that was happening. I don’t have any negative feelings about this book apart from the negative feelings because of what actually happened in the book. Does that make sense? I don’t know. if someone is hard-core dramione I would maybe recommend because I feel like they’d be in the same state of mind as me where Draco and Hermione can do no wrong even though I was so frustrated with them in this fic. i feel like i’m so contradicting myself. basically it was a good fic a great fic even in the sense it showed affairs and “cheating” essentially in a different light-ish. while not diminishing its impact it still made you think about the other side and that everyone was wrong so why not embrace it after therapy?? idk if my thoughts are coming through. not the angst i wanted but a surprise that i wasn’t mad at. all im saying is my draco would never be this weak.

DNFing at chapter 57 out of 75. This has already been a book and a half and I dislike the main characters so much. I can see how it will end but I don’t like it
Draco cheated on his wife with his soulmate which sucks, yea. But then he also cheated on his soulmate with his wife and got her pregnant. Like come on.
And this cheating thing gets completely forgiven? But another guy doesn’t get forgiven for something more minor?
I don’t like it. The writing is fabulous and you can feel their emotions but everyone is spineless and Hermione somehow gets the brunt of the blame when it really should have been Draco, and they get together anyway so what’s the point. Extremely OOC writing for Hermione which was ok at the start tbh but never got better because she never gets her spine back

All that said though? This is one of the more popular fics out there and has thousands of positive comments and reviews. I did enjoy reading it up till about chapter 50 and then it turned into a slog. The author is talented and writes well. If you’re ok reading about a group of idiots and assholes you might like this more than I did

4.5 Stars. 3 Spice
Starts off 2005. Multiple povs. Draco and Hermione haves 1.5 year affair
remorseful Lucius.
Blaise has been there fore Hermione through everything; he’s been in love with her. They start a relationship
Hermione obliviated Draco, Lucius threatened to kill her parents. Draco finds pictures of them and watches his memories but doesn’t feel them. After watching memories, he shifts blame to himself as he sees why she obliviated him
They go to therapy together; finds out Hermione is pregnant; baby girl name is faith (not really a fan of)
I wish there was closure and reconciliation with Blaise and Lucius/narcissa
Relationships: Hermione/Draco, Hermione/Blaise, Astoria/Draco, Pansy/Harry, Luna/ron

As always fics deserve five star ratings because the amount of effort the author has put in is amazing and they do it for the fandom so always show your love and support!

Now this fic was THICK! It took me a very long time to read because life is life and i like to enjoy my reads especially when it comes to dramione;) This fic was everything and more. It was angst, heartbreak, love, passion, deceit, it was EVERYTHING. There was times where it was hard to get through and there were times i was bored lol but memory loss trope is such a hard trope because it takes so much of the story line. The author did an amazing job at capturing the amount of feelings and decisions it comes to when considering what is best for yourself and what’s best for the people that you love. I really love this fic.

4.5/5
I loved this story! So much angst, pain and love. I cried half way throught it. I liked the friendship Hermione had with Harry and Ron and the way Harry always supported her. I liked Pansy, but for me, Harry and Ginny should always end up together. The Ron-Luna marriage was really strange, no way those two fit together. Draco and Hermione love story was very intense and had so much love and pain, it was overwelming to read sometimes. The journals Hermione writes to, are sooo emotional and made me feel her despair.
The only thing i would change, is the lenght of the book. There were many chapters (in the end) full of little unnecessary details. I am pretty sure it was possible for the author to cut many unnecessary dialogs and thoughts.

I can't understand why this book gets such bad reviews.

"The Memories of You" is a fanfiction about Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy.

The story begins with Hermione erasing Draco's memories, erasing herself and their secret love affair of over a year and a half. Draco, married to someone else, began the affair just a day before his wedding and continued it until Hermione decided to leave him. She made this choice when she found out his wife was pregnant, wanting to do what was best for the child. Everything seems fine until Draco starts feeling like something is missing in his life. He embarks on a relentless search to fill the void, not realizing that what's missing is Hermione.

Memory modification is one of the tropes I like. It seems quite challenging describing the feelings, their shift in such a realistic way. I felt for Hermione, her pain, isolation from friends, and the inability to move on. The way their relationship was depicted made my heart ache. It was poignant, sad, without complete trust, but beautiful at the same time. I was binge-reading it and waiting anxiously for the writer to finish it up. But it was worth the waiting. The story didn't let go for quite some time.

Splendid story. Check the tags. The misunderstanding due to trauma responses make a very tangled story. Nobody’s hands are clean. Everybody suffered before resolution.

This Hermione is probably the most psychologically troubled iteration I’ve read. Think BMBS but over 400k words.

This Draco is an absolute favorite. His story arc is gorgeously executed.

The supporting characters are richly developed and add so much to the story.

The writing itself was fantastic! I enjoyed the storyline and I love multi-POVs. But this book was like a car accident for me, I couldn’t stop reading no matter how toxic. Both Draco and Hermione were insufferable in this… insulting to canon characters in my opinion. The Hermione Granger I know would NEVER let a man treat her like that. So embarrassing. And real Draco malfoy would never treat her like that. I did eat this up though lol.

I love the premise and a lot of the plot BUT ... m'am, I did not need every fucking thought each character had voiced, analyzed and dissected 50X. That was tough. No one needs Lucious's POV. And it could have been 40% shorter with a cleaner story. I enjoyed the plot so much, but the characterization of Hermione is weak and Draco is also too sappy. We didn't need 200 pages of therapy ... not quite sure what she thought this was adding to the story.

4.8 ⭐️ I wish it was talked about more because it’s officially and easily in my Top 10. I had major hesitations at first because I usually steer clear of infidelity and memory mod tropes, but this fic has made me a fan of both. The author navigates both so well and her way of writing angst is so gripping and raw.

3.75 ⭐️ Overall, I thought this was very well done. My only real complaint was I think it went a bit long, but that could be a result of how fast I read it. The ending just felt like it dragged after a really fast paced start. I really enjoyed seeing Hermione be very introspective. Round of applause for this author, it was clearly written with love

The writing is perfect. I’m only going take away one star because there is no way I can forgive Draco. I enjoyed the angst but I was equally annoyed with Hermione for carrying on with Draco when she could have said firm no or moved away before the soul mate situation ever happened. Loved the trio being there for each other. It’s always my favorite part.
