Where there’s smoke, there’s fire...

Callie:
Becoming a firefighter has been my life’s goal. I’ve overcome every obstacle and I’ve finally made it to the top of the ladder: to the role of Rivers Crossing first ever female Fire Chief. But there’s a teeny, tiny (okay...big) problem. And it comes in the form of a very hot firefighter in my crew.

Tyler Holmes. The man I slept with ten years ago.

Apparently, the fire that began between us back then still burns scorching hot and his charm still fans the flames. But as his new boss, I must treat him just like everyone else under my command.

Even if my traitorous body remembers exactly what happened when I was under his commands in bed.

My options are limited. I either ignore this attraction and douse it with cold water or let it burn my career down to ash.

Tyler
Ten years and I’m still thinking about her. Ten years of comparing every woman against her. And now she’s here, standing in front of me...as my boss.

Callie’s even more gorgeous than I remember. But as Chief Bartholomew she’s all business. She doesn’t want to admit that what we had was more than a spark, it was an inferno. And if she’d just get past her stubbornness, she’d see the attraction between us is still scorching hot.

Only now she’s in charge and I don’t know if I can accept her as my chief. I don’t even know if I can accept that I still want her?

Because if I admit there’s still something between us, I might have to leave the job I love in order to keep the woman that I still burn for.

Never. Change.

A dirty firefighter story. Yeah, it's hot! 🔥🔥🔥 It also has some pretty funny moments. 😆

“You are the most stubborn, pigheaded woman. You drive me insane,” I growl. “Never. Change.”
--Tyler Holmes

No doubt about it. Callie and Tyler butt heads on multiple occasions but the making up is worth the aching - head and heart.

There are a couple of bad situations encountered but they just add depth to the characters. I enjoyed the book with the pages flying by. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

A series started with a ton of potential by two authors who have impressive catalogs. Together they have given us some fabulous characters and addressed the gender bias issue head-on.

Callie just wants to be a firefighter, the best firefighter, and make her family proud. She has worked harder than most to get where she is—but still working on getting the respect she deserves.

Tyler is a firefighter in Rivers Crossing. He and the crew are awaiting the arrival of Chief Bart. In walks Callie Bartholomew, the first female Fire Chief.

Then there is the smoking hot chemistry between Callie and Tyler, plus they have a history! But, can they keep their relationship professional? Will she defeat the “Good Old Boys Club” mentality? Then there is the small minded town.

The story was a quick read, and I had trouble putting it down. I cannot wait for more Fanning the Flames books in this series. This author duo is a winner.

I received an advanced copy from the Author; this is my voluntary review.

Callie and Tyler’s story was super hot and very emotional!

From the start Callie is facing a battle she’s not ready for! Throw in a flame from the past and it adds a whole mix of crazy for her, but she’s not one to back down! I loved how hard working and driven Callie is! She proves herself and wins Tyler over! Together they forge a plan to save the fire department they love and also fan the flames to their desire! Unfortunately not everyone is Callie’s biggest fan!

As hard working as Callie was so was Tyler and their love for what they do really showed and shined through! I enjoyed this read and can’t wait to see what else these two authors do together!

I see some serious potential in this series. Tyler and the other guys of the firehouse are…a tad uncouth at times. But that doesn’t stop Callie from working to earn their respect. And boy, does she earn it. Even when up against a so outdated it’s laughable but disgusting Old Boys Club mentality, she manages to win people over. Now if only she could quell her feelings for Tyler, all would be perfect for her. Or would it?

Tyler, once he pulled his head out of somewhere, realized that Callie richly deserves the position she’s got, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting her. She’s the one woman he’s never forgotten, and she’s clearly the only one who will make him happy. And if that means squaring off against guys he considered friends and family, so be it.

I enjoyed the flow of this book and can’t wait for the second in the series. If the first grabbed me and made me feel so much anger on Callie’s behalf, I look forward to what the second book will do!

There's more to come after this book and that's what makes me happy. This book was something I needed, I just didn’t know it was going to be this.
The Character growth was mind blowing. Super hot ,and emotional...
I've never really read anything like this before- firefighter, forbidden, female in command - romance novel.
Here's the thing, the fact that BURNED highlights the struggles a woman faces just to become what she wants to be and live her life on her terms, facing patriarchy, sexism, *just* won my heart.
I sometimes, don't understand how any profession can be masculine or feminine...

𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓸𝓵𝓭 𝓪𝓭𝓪𝓰𝓮 𝓸𝓯 “𝓰𝓲𝓻𝓵𝓼 𝓬𝓪𝓷 𝓭𝓸 𝓪𝓷𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓫𝓸𝔂𝓼 𝓬𝓪𝓷 𝓭𝓸” 𝓲𝓼 𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝔀𝓮𝓵𝓵, 𝓫𝓾𝓽 𝓲𝓽 𝓭𝓸𝓮𝓼𝓷’𝓽 𝓽𝓪𝓴𝓮 𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓸 𝓪𝓬𝓬𝓸𝓾𝓷𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓪𝓭𝓭𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵 𝓮𝓯𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓽 𝔀𝓮 𝓶𝓾𝓼𝓽 𝓹𝓾𝓽 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓸 𝓫𝓮 𝓸𝓷 𝓹𝓪𝓻 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓪 𝓶𝓪𝓷
I love this quote from the book.
Not only this, Callie, the female lead, wanted to make her dad proud who kinda sidelined her because she was a girl and he didn't know how to raise one ...
Other than that I read it in one sitting...and it was humorous too

Can't wait to get my hands on other books of the Fanning The Flame series.

Oh my goodness, this is such an explosive start to a new series. Both of the authors have created something amazing. Callie and Tyler’s story was such a fantastic read. I loved both of their characters. Callie is such a badass and Tyler is just swoony, the perfect book boyfriend. I can't wait for more stories in the series.

After reading the prologue to Burned, I knew that I was in for one hot, hot, hot story! Tyler and Callie had some intense chemistry from that first moment, and when they saw each other again years later......that spark was still there, and even though she was his boss - no way could they ignore the feelings between them. I hated how rough things were for her, being a female captain and getting the resistance from her fellow firefighters and community. But she stood her ground and Tyler had her back 100%. Love that this is going to be the start of a series - can't wait to see what is up next!

Holy crap! What a way to start a series!!! Basically I couldn’t put Callie and Tyler down. I started and finished this book today and that never happens! So much heat, so much passion (for each other and the job) and just everything. All woven together neatly in this amazing book!

Fanning the Flames #1

Callie Bartholomew's goal was to become a firefighter and overcame it all to be one. Now she is at the top and is the first female Fire Chief in Rivers Crossing. Now not everyone is happy about this and feels this isn't a women's job but she's out to change that.
Tyler Holmes happens to be one of the firefighters at Callie's station and is under her command. Every woman he dates he compares to one he met 10 years ago and had a one night stand with. Problem is that's his new Chief! Tyler's not sure he can accept her as his chief but he will admit that there is still something between them.
Will someone get Burned?

A second chance, boss-employee, fire fighter romance. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I really enjoyed Callie’s, the female lead’s, enthusiasm for her career and the effort she’d put into it both before the story commenced and during it.

The male lead, Tyler, is initially wary and, quite frankly, unhappy that Callie has been appointed chief of his fire house but he quickly overcomes this and is interested in her success and in building a relationship with her.

The story is dual POV, well written and edited, and so cute in many of the interactions, as well dealing realistically and positively with sexism in a male dominated work place. I received a complimentary copy of the story from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Book One in The Fanning The Flames Series has us meeting the incredible Callie Bartholomew, always looking to make her family proud and proving to everyone that not only can a man be a firefighter but she can be equally successful in her career. What she doesn’t expect is meeting Tyler Holmes again after ten years but becoming his boss too.
Tyler Holmes is a firefighter and is respected among his peers but when he sees Callie again all the past memories of her comes back and he doesn’t know how that will work.
Callie & Tyler have a chemistry that is down right steamy and will pour off the pages, but can they manage to have it both ways and keep the personal and professional separate and find a HEA that will make them happy in the end.

Burned is the first book in The Fanning the Flames series and it was a great start to what promises to be a truly enjoyable series. I was new to both of these authors although I've been wanting to try out their books for a long time.
This is a small town romance with a mix of second chance and workplace romance. In it, you meet Callie Bartholomew and Tyler Holmes. Callie is not only a firefighter as is Tyler but she has risen the ladder to become Rivers Crossing's first female Fire Chief. Upon reporting to her fire station to meet her new employees, she is surprised to see Tyler Holmes among them.
Tyler and Callie met ten years ago in which they had a one night stand. Tyler has never forgotten her and has compared every girl since to her. It doesn't take long to realize that the chemistry between them is still as hot as the fire they fight.
Unfortunately, being a firefighter is still a mostly male dominated field. There is still an "Old Boys Club" mentality but Callie has earned her place as Chief.
Their journey to their HEA is one I truly enjoyed and I can't wait to see where this new series goes next.

Burned is a red hot read. Sexy firefighters for the win. You will just love Callie and Tyler as they burn up the pages. Callie is so driven and set to prove she can handle being in charge in a mans world. Tyler will have you fanning yourself and falling hard. I love the dynamics between Tyler and Callie. There is much respect between them as Tyler sees the bigger picture that is Callie. You feel for Callie when she takes on the small minded town and the men in the firehouse. I loved this book and devoured it in one sitting. I could not get enough of Tyler and Callie. S.E. Rose and Sierra Hill make an awesome duo and have me wanting more Fanning the Flames books right now. You need to one click this one.

Callie worked hard to get her promotion to Fire Chief and she would never have been hired if she wasn’t the most qualified candidate. She was there to do her job and would not tolerate gossip or insubordination. Callie knew she would have to work hard to earn the respect of her team but she was confident they could work together to keep the community safe. A sexy night ten years ago with Tyler should have no bearing on her experience as a firefighter.

Callie remembers her night with Tyler very well but she only wants a professional relationship with him regardless of all the sexy glances he sends her way. I admire Callie’s professionalism and enthusiasm for her new position and she has a positive attitude about being able to delegate among her team. Unfortunately, she would be working very closely with Tyler on various Firehouse fundraising matters. Her job was the most important part of her life and she refused to be distracted by romance.

Tyler has other ideas when it comes to Callie. He never forgot their special night and seeing Callie again was like a dream come true. If only he could figure out how they could be together while keeping their jobs? He wouldn’t let Callie get away again because now that she was here with him, his life finally felt complete.

Burned by SE Rose and Sierra Hill a five-star read that will set you aflame. This is number one in the Fanning the Flames series, and I for one am so excited to get my hands on number two, Callie is so strong, she has fought tooth and nail to get where she is now, and she does it so well. My soul burned for her at times, but she isn’t the only player in this story, Tyler isn’t always what he should be, but he gets there, He becomes her strength, but what a journey they go on. This is a sublime story by an author I have known and loved and one I have only just become acquainted with, who I will be checking out again, as I have loved the writing.

I enjoyed this so much especially seeing a woman firefighter but not just that, she is the new chief. She is tough and strong and not just physically. I loved her pushing the boundaries and binds of the small town. The chemistry between her and Tyler burned even more and I was hooked on this from the beginning.

Omg I just loved Callie and Tyler’s story. This just goes to show you that anyone, I mean anyone can do any job. As long they have the drive,
ambition, and love for it. Tyler showed so much love and support for that as well. This was a wonderful book and I can’t wait to read more.

Woah! Tyler and Callie are 🔥🔥🔥. Rarely do you have a story with a female firefighter... let alone THE CHEIF!!! Usually the H is the boss in these workplace romances. Not this time! Callie is such a bad ass! She didn't get to where she is without being tough as nails! Tyler... SO FREAKING SWOONY! I thought he was going to be all "macho, can't have a woman be my boss" kind of guy. Nope. I totally in love with these 2. And I am quite eager to see what happens with Nick (Tyler's brother) because I think that he may have a very interesting story to tell!

Work place romance meets second chance romance with a touch of forbidden romance, and it is a smoking combination. I was already familiar with S.E. Rose's work, but hadn't read anything by Sierra Hill. Co-authored books can sometimes be a little tricky when it comes making everything flow seamlessly as if one author, not two, wrote a book, and these two fabulous ladies hit it out of the park.
Callie, is the total package in what I want in a strong female protagonist. She is smart, doesn't take any crap, and isn't afraid of a challenge. The chemistry between Callie and Tyler is positively reactive and the steamy times are hot. This story deals with real life scenarios such as female bosses in male dominated fields and all the non-glamorous duties that go with being that person. There are so many ways these characters could have been written, but instead of making the main characters overly stubborn with thoughts and attitudes at different ends of the spectrum, there was a balance which paved the way for a natural flow as the storyline progressed. This story has it all; heart, steam, chemistry, feels, and realism, it's the total package.

book felt pretty superficial to me, no depth. whenever the hero and heroine are together, they seem to be fucking each other brains out, where is the deep emotional connection??

so, at the prologue, the hero and heroine had a one-night stand, then the following chapters just simply indicate that years ago they slept together and coincidentally attended the same firefighter academy but nothing happen while they were in the academy. it was simply brush across so their connection doesn't really make sense to me.

additionally, the heroine received a threatening email asking her to leave the town but there was no after story following that email. like huh?? i thought someone would appear to harm her when she wasn't leaving the town. i think it's pretty lame to add in a twist that does not have any plans to follow up with something.

overall, this book is not something i would read again.

Burned is definitely HOT! The main characters, Callie & Tyler are dynamic, delicious couple. The book starts out by giving a little background on how their paths crossed in previous years. Move into modern-day and Callie is the new Fire Chief for a small-town team. The stars align by placing Callie dab smack in the middle of Tyler's team. There is a spark between the two that they try to fight to no end and eventually give in.

Toss in some small-town drama and folks struggling to change their ways, and you have a pretty fun read. This book is an easy afternoon read and is written well. My only complaint is I feel the story could have been a little longer. I would have happily sat & read for more details in this small town.

Callie is a heroine we can all get behind. She's fought hard to move up the ladder of a male-dominant profession and wants to be seen as just another peer. Tyler is a hero that helps her do just that, while loving her through it.

This book is HOT in more ways than one. Callie and Tyler connect before going through the fire academy, and when they are reunited ten years later, their temps have only gotten hotter.

With experience, loss, and life under their belts, these two characters bring all they've got every day to work. When Callie and Tyler square off, the tension only strengthens their bond.

I love that Tyler is unafraid to admit that there are some seriously archaic policies and practices in firehouses across the country, and he's also willing to use his own position within his community to prove that Callie deserves just as much respect (or more) as any other firefighter serving.

This book has a bit of suspense, because Callie isn't exactly welcomed into the community. There's some shady behavior, but I wanted just a little bit more from the suspense portion. It left me wanting things to go just a *little* bit further... for Callie to face a threat head-on, for someone in the community to come after her instead of just threaten her, etc.

The book does an incredible job showcasing the sacrifices of those who serve, including firefighters and military personnel.

Overall thoughts: The book was hot and I could really get behind these characters and their story! I'm excited for the next installment! 3.5/5 stars

I love the whole concept of this book. This was a great book for feminism to show a female chief, a woman in charge. The book starts years ago when Callie was starting at the academy. Callie and Tyler had one smoking hot night and then went their separate ways.

When we meet Callie again, she is at a new place in her life and is moving away from home to become the town’s first female fire chief. Callie’s goal is to be the best fire chief she could be and hopefully make her father proud. Callie is the right person for the job; she just has to get her team of firefighters and the townspeople to forget the gender bias and give her a chance.

Tyler is a firefighter at the station where Callie just became Fire Chief. Tyler is very supportive of Callie in her role. His biggest problem is that he can’t seem to forget the night they had together and get her out of his head. Things quickly heat up between them and they can’t resist each other any more.

I absolutely loved Callie and Tyler together. They were smoking hot and they really cared for each other. I loved all the action in this book. One thing I didn’t understand was why the letter that Callie got was not made into anything more that could have been an exciting twist.

“Listen, I get it. You have to be the chief, out there,”—I point outside—“But in here, it’s just you and me. You don’t have to be strong all the time. I’m here. You can lean on me. I’m not going to judge you. ”

All Callie ever wanted to be is a firefighter, but you already know that it's not necessarily an easy job for women since it's predominantly male. She worked hard & probably had to do double what male firefighters had to do but it's really panned out for her since she's now the first female River Crossing's Fire Chief so I had to respect that #GIRLPOWER! Things take a turn when she ends up with a firefighter (Tyler) who she spent a hot night with many years ago so here's where it gets really dicey. We all know that bosses sleeping with employees are usually frowned upon, but it's always worse for a female because of gender bias so it's definitely a recipe for disaster at the end of the day. It made for a push & pull as Callie was determined to make sure they acted professionally while Tyler knows that they have something special. The chemistry they have is not about to be denied for any length of time so I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe to drop as their vibe is just too strong. In order to see how it all played out, you'll have to hit those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Callie is excited to begin her new position as the Fire Chief and she is aware that she will receive some push back, but she has persevered to get this far so this will be no different. The one curveball she wasn’t expecting was that one of the members of her team would be the man she spent one night with a decade earlier or that the feelings between them hadn’t diminished over time.

Tyler has his reservation when he learns that not only is his boss a woman but someone he knows intimately. She inspires feelings in him unlike any other woman and he is determined to show her that they belong together both when it comes to their careers and their lives.

The chemistry was never the problem for this couple and although Callie and Tyler’s journey wasn’t easy, they soon realize that anything worth having is worth fighting for.

When Callie shows up as the new Chief she never expected to see her old flame Tyler again. She's there to do a job and is quick to let him know nothing will ever happen between them. Tyler can't believe Callie is back in his life as his new boss. He figures it's not a big deal since what they had was a long time ago and needs to be forgotten. So why doesn't his heart get the memo?

I love the shift of power and that Callie is the one who is in charge of a team of male firefighters. She has her work cut out for her, trying to fit in the boy's club. It doesn't help when Tyler gives her the cold shoulder. Callie is not a quitter and works hard to earn her team's respect. This was a fun read as she desperately tries to push Tyler away and all he wants is for her to give them another chance. Looking forward to reading more in this series!

Callie has dedicated her life to becoming a firefighter and in a male dominated profession making it to the top was hard but she did it. Tyler loves being a firefighter and when he sees the new chief he's reminded of one unforgettable steamy night they spent together ten years before. I loved the sparks that were flying off Callie and Tyler as they tried to keep their relationship professional and it made the forbidden romance that much hotter. Burned is book one of the Fanning The Flames series and it is a definite must read. The writing is well done, the characters are believable and the ending was perfect. A great start to a new series! Callie is a fiercely independent female firefighter who is starting a new job a Chief. She has worked very hard for this job and is nervous about not being accepted as a female fire chief. Tyler is a firefighter who loves what he does and loves his small town. When the new fire chief starts at his station he is blown away by the memory of a night he had with her 10 years ago. Can these to keep it professional? What would happen if they cross the line? This was a fast paced sexy read that kept me wanting more. I enjoyed The banter between the firefighters and loved how Callie was tough but Vulnerable at the same time. I look Forward to reading more books in this series.
