Review-
Does have a 6 chapter Prequel in the beginning before it starts with the titled story.
4.5 stars
The only con is that it felt like it would take days to read.
Told in both POVs, HFN ending that works it’s way for the next story in line with the next Moretti sibling to have a story.
Triggers that I’ve read are drug use, woman abuse, murder…
But it’s a Sicilian mafia. They treat the people they love with respect, the dogs , then the lower people and their pawns, then other power families.

Dark Redeemer by Alessia Gray and Raven Scott is the First book in the Dark Ever After Series. This is the story of Massimo Moretti and Angela Amato. Angela was a young mafia princes who caught the eye of a young Massimo they both had crushes on each other but ended up being caught. Massimo was taken by her father to be killed but Massimo was able to escape. Life had not treated him or his family well and revenge was on Massimo's family toward Angela's father. So in their present day Massimo was able to kidnap Angela and use her for revenge. But Massimo didn't expect his feelings to still be there after all these years. This was a page turning read.

An okay read
This was recommended to me, which is why I read it, and I'm not sure I liked it. There were some proofreading errors that bugged me, but otherwise, this was easy to read.
I mean, the mafia thing I liked. The Angela 'situation' wasn't believable for me. The wrap up and conclusion was predictable. The passion between the two main characters definitely works, but I wish the rest of it - I don't know...I wanted something more.
I mostly liked the read overall...I wanted to like it more than I did. But I don't have any desire to read on in the series. Not the worst book, but not the best.

The Don Giovanni orders his guys to take sixteen year old Massimo out by sea and kill him but he survived by killing one of the guard and swam ashore and hid. Massimo and his brothers had been waiting for revenge on the Amatos family for years. Eight years later just days when Angela was set to marry Vittorio Rizzo The Cleaver. The brothers execute a brazen attack on the Amatos family in broad daylight at the Ippodromo right after the race spilling a lot of blood in the streets of Palermo. He's holding me against my will despite my best efforts to escape. My father has committed a sin against the Morettis and I'm the one who will pay for his sins. I've become a pawn in the Morettis game to increase their revenue by selling me to the highest bidders and get revenge at my papa at killing him and starting a war between the two and rival families.
Massimo is the oldest of five brothers Roberto, Stefano, Matteo, Luciano Enrico and a sister Rosa. They all grew up on crime ridden streets of Sicily. They had to struggle and fight their way of poverty in order to survive. In the prequel Darkness Born you get the backstory on all the Morrettis and what caused Massimo to became so dark, cold, ruthless and calculated. The brothers was fixing races and to make money amongst other illegal things. But when Massimo loss one of his brother Matteo in car accident which almost took his own life. He also had to learn to how walk again he left the hospital a hardened man. The incident changed him and that's when the darkness set in. As the years goes by he became more and more callous and merciless family was the only one he cared about anyone else was viewed as an object as he rise to power. Angela is beautiful, strong, fierce, sassy and a fighter. She lived a pampered life surrounded by endless bodyguards daily and even more so after the death of her mother. Angela is forced into an arranged marriage with Vittorio Rizzo The Cleaver. The Amatos sworn enemy when one of The Rizzos brother jumped Michealangelo one of her brother and beat him really bad. The incident was over a territorial dispute. After the other Amatos brothers saw MichealAngelo they was ready to go out kill The Cleaver's brother. However, before two of the most powerful mafia families started a war the Don of the Rizzo family negotiated a deal where Angela would marry The Cleaver tying the families together thus ending the conflict.
Massimo wanted to use Angela as his toy first before he sold. He wanted to break his hatred for her had also trickle down to her as well. Angela was shocked that the boy that she once loved could have done something so violent and vicious as Massimo done. She thought she was seeing a ghost because she thought that he left or died. Massimo didn't know that he would still have feelings for her after eight years and Angela tried to seduce into changing his mind about selling her but he didn't want to go against his brothers because they helped risked their lives with the kidnapping. However, the more time that they spend together the two couldn't get enough of each other and they rekindled their love for each other. But when Massimo was asleep his brothers sold her to the Rizzos without his knowledge. It was quest to get her back on where rivals will call a temporary truce. The Cleaver took her to his mansion for quickie nuptials since Giovanni had called off the wedding after she was kidnapped. The Rizzos wanted the marriage to give them leverage over Giovanni more so than an alliance. Angela's had repressed the memories of her mom's death. But it came back as soon as she was brought to Rizzos house and witnessed The Cleaver beat a maid to death in front of her. She had remembered that The Cleaver brutally killed forced her to relive her mom's eight years ago.
Dark Redeemer is beautifully executed with strong characters. It's riveting jaw dropping and on the edge of your seat with twists and turns and. There's tons of action, drama, surprises, carnage, and secrets that will you breathless. There's was kidnapping, bondage, control, attacks, anger issues, baby surprise, rivalry, healing, love, turf war, and arranged marriage.

The story revolves are Massimo, the oldest of the Moretti brothers and Angela Amato, the daughter of Massimo's sworn enemy Giovanni. And a bad guy named "The Cleaver!" Come on what more could you want?
Massimo and Angela had crushes on each other when they were young. When Angela's father found out, he ordered Massimo's death. This started the darkness growing in Massimo and when events escalated his rage he set his sights on killing Giovanni & taking his daughter Angela. Plans go array when feelings resurface for both of them. How can Massimo keep his family happy and have Angela too?
Angela is a strong character, stronger than she thought. Instead of being a helpless woman she fights back and fights back. With Massimo's love, help and encouragement the character of Angela blossoms. Massimo is in a self imposed prison of darkness in his brain. Angela slowly works her way around his walls, shining light where he thought he had none.
The story pulls in a lot of characters. Massimo has 5 brothers and a sister. Each supports the family in a different way and I hope we get each of their stories. Angela has brothers and a sister as well. While they definitely were lesser characters to the Moretti clan they were an interesting bunch nevertheless.
Dark Redeemer is written with dual perspectives. This is helpful since we get to know what the other is thinking and feeling. Massimo and Angela had chemistry galore. They responded well to the other's cues. The plot moves fast, leaving the reader with no chance to catch a breath. This love story is dark with plenty of triggers. While there is no excuse for abuse, seeing and feeling the characters' motives explains a lot. Great new series and I can't wait to go deeper into the Moretti family.

STORY:
I was spilt with the darkness of this story. I enjoyed the story and world building. The characters were appealing and interesting. Reading Massimo and his journey, he gave me intensity in the beginning and that’s good because he carried the story without me being bored. His infatuation with Angela was also appealing to see. The author did a good job building that anticipation.
Fast-forward to 8 years later, Massimo kidnaps Angela. She believes he abandons her and he had time to hold on to his hatred of her father. Now, what I personally was spilt with, dark to various readers mean different things. I felt Massimo gave me intensity, but it was mainly in the beginning. Once he kidnapped Angela, I felt that he was more angry than dark and intense, but that lasted like 5 minutes. They had incredible chemistry, but it wasn’t as dark as I wanted it during the captive scenes, but still very much enjoyed their story.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Their sex scenes were good. No complaints, nothing crazy, and you felt their still attraction to each other.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
So many characters that made this book attention worthy. Massimo’s family consist of his brothers and sister. Rosa, Massimo’s sister, her story is next and I am still interested in this series.
OVERALL
I enjoyed the story and the journey from young Massimo and to grown and sexy Massimo. Could have been a little darker, but that is also a me thing.

Massimo was caught leaving Angela’s room and her Dad (Raphael Amato) ordered him killed. Angela had no idea this had happened and had always thought Massimo just ran away and decided he didn’t want her. Fortunately for Massimo, he was able to survive being killed and vowed one day to get vengeance on Amato.

Massimo is now someone who is dark, dangerous and only loves his family and will do anything to protect them. He does not let anyone in. After all these years he is back and has some dark plans for her
Dark Redeemer is the first book in the Dark Ever After series and is the story of Angela and Massimo. Their story started eight years ago when they were teenagers who were crazy about each other, as in the love forever type of crazy. But she is the daughter of a very dangerous man and he turns that danger on Massimo when there is a misunderstanding. Massimo survived but it turned him into someone who is darker, deadly and dangerous. He also has sworn to take revenge on her father. When Massimo disappeared Angela was heartbroken as she thought he did not want to be with her any more. But now he is back and things are about to take a very sharp left turn into a different type of relationship between Angela and Massimo. In the end it is still love?
This story had me wondering what was coming next the whole time. I found the story-line to be engaging and the characters were interesting. There were a few times where I found it a bit slow but overall it was a great read and I am looking forward to the next in this new series.

This story had me wondering what was coming next the whole time. I found the story-line to be engaging and the characters were interesting. There were a few times where I found it a bit slow but overall it was a great read and I am looking forward to the next in this new series.

This book brings us Massimo Moretti and Angela Amato. Massimo is the oldest of the Moretti brothers. Angela Amato is the daughter of Raphael Amato, his sworn enemy. Angela and Massimo met 8 years before and Angela still thought of him, however, she is being forced into an arranged marriage with the Rossi family, which she despises. A few days before this marriage is to take place, Massimo kidnaps Angela. One one hand, she is glad that she doesn't have to marry the man she hates, but she also doesn't recognize the cold hearted Massimo she once admired. Angela is a very strong character, and she decides to bring some light into Massimo's darkness. He is very conflicted as he sees himself as dark and unforgiving. This is an amazing start to this series and I highly recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.

She has no idea what happened to him and assumed he left her, he thinks she knew what happened. Eight years later, Massimo wants revenge and plans to kidnap Angela, use her, and sell her to the highest bidder. Angela doesn't understand why this is happening and why he hates her father. But you know what they say about love and hate. The chemistry and intense attraction is still there. This book has great characters, action, drama, suspense, and twists and turns. Raven Scott and Alessia Gray have done a fantastic job on this collaboration and I'm anxious to see more. And the best part is you can read for free with KU. Great read!!

This is the first book by these authors, Raven Scott and Alessia Gray in the Dark Ever After series. There is a short prequel at the beginning that compels you to read on. The story is about Massimo, the oldest of the Moretti brothers and Angela Amato, the daughter of Massimo's sworn enemy Giovanni. Then, there’s a real nasty guy named "The Cleaver!" You don’t want to bring him home to your mom for dinner. This pair was sweet for each other when they were kids but their parents are mafia so it was only a matter of time. Angela’s father orders a hit on Massimo. Massimo decides to kill Giovanni and take his daughter, Angela too. But, then the sweet attraction they had as kids resurface. Their chemistry is hot, their attraction won’t stop. Now what? This book has it all.

Another fabulous read from this author! The novel is well written and the plot keeps you intrigued with twists and turns. This is the story of Massimo, the leader of his Mafia family, and Angela, the daughter of the Don of a rival Mafia family. Massimo and Angela have been meeting in secret but her father finds out and orders that Massimo be executed! Angela thinks Massimo has left her. Eight years later, Massimo kidnaps Angela with the intention of selling her to the highest bidder, however, the feelings he thought were dead now reignite and plans change.
The chemistry between the characters is intense, the love, lust and steamy sex scenes are off the scale. Overall, an action packed, dark Mafia romance, a really fabulous, highly recommended 5 star read!

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a second chance at love the hard way. Massimo and Angela had deep feelings for each other when they were younger. They were separated and a vow of revenge will lead them more heartbreak. Angela felt abandoned by him and he tied her into the hatred for her father. Their story shows that thin line between love and hate several times with his dark plans for her. I thought Angela was more than a strong enough woman to stand by his side. Massimo struggles with his conflicted feelings and finally realizes he wants and needs her. I enjoyed the book. The characters had a chemistry through all of the ups and downs.

Massimo and Angela had a crush on each other when they were teenagers. When Massimo is found hiding on her father's property wearing Angela pendant, he ordered his men to kill him. Angela never knew why he didn't come round anymore or even text her. He survived and eight years later his family kidnapped her to get vengeance on her father by selling her to the highest bidder. This is the 1st in a new series and is Massimo and Angela’s story. Angela is a mafia princess, and Massimo is Sicilian mafia, and these two had a crush on each other as teenagers, until her father found out about them and ordered Massimo to death, which he luckily managed to escape from. Now Angela is due to get married to a man from another crime family, when Massimo and his brothers kidnap her for revenge. With rival crime families having a war brewing, will they be able to survive? This is a well written story which is dark, raw, gritty, and with family, emotions, betrayal, tragedy, loyalty, action, violence, and love, which all leads to a steamy and all-consuming riveting page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented duo whose work I highly recommend.

Massimo and Angela have history when they were young then he disappeared, years later he comes back to kidnap her. Massimo wants revenge for the death of his brother, Angela and Massimo have had great chemistry when they were near each other. Massimo wants to put Angela up for Auction, there were three mafia families that want her, will Massimo end up keeping her or will something bad happen. Loved the story.

Too soft for mafia
While a have enjoyed Raven Scott's work before, something in this one didn't appeal to me. I could feel the shift in writing. The story went from Massimo being a true anti-hero (per Scott's norm) mafia don to a weak, concussed boy. Then the story began to tell rather show along with the plot being rushed a long with many grammatical errors and missing words. I gave this book a 4 because of the beginning where I actually felt a draw to the characters and story.

Dark Redeemer is a dark mafia romance and the first book in the Dark Ever After series. It contains all the elements to make an awesome story. It’s intense and steamy. Massimo and Angela's story is a great mafia romance, with lots of palpable chemistry, it grabbed my attention and held it from beginning to end. I loved the characters who are all so well-drawn as for the plot-line it's somewhat dark, it's sometimes crazy, there's drama, betrayal and a kidnapping as well as the palpable chemistry, hot sexy scenes and some kink.

Loved this story. I was heartbroken throughout the book but relieved with the ending. Massimo and Angela are overwhelmed with so much guilt from their past they need to find a way to forgive, especially themselves. Also, loved Rosa and can’t wait to read her story.

This is a page turning, action packed story with danger, secrets, drama, suspense, and a story that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. This was my first book by this author and I probably will read more. It was an average read, rather slow and predictable. I may have given another star but I was put off by the amount of grammatical errors and typos. Whoever proof read this book failed miserably. On one page alone we had Robert/ Roberta and Roberto.. Roberto would have been correct! Sorry, I don’t find this acceptable!
