When nature warrior Hannah McIntyre goes missing in the Rocky Mountains, her brother organizes a search and rescue team. Killian Devereaux, a former military special-ops soldier who now works for a private security company, leads the mission. Killian grew up in the Louisiana bayou hunting gators with his Cajun grandpapa. Searching the wilderness for a missing woman is right up his alley. He's determined to find her because one thing is certain - Hannah haunts his dreams, and he's not about to give up on her.
I write about alpha protectors who fall in love hard and unconditionally, through the good and the bad. My characters are strong, sexy, and slightly damaged... because no one is perfect. This book is a perfect example of why pacing is so important. I enjoyed the first 80% of this book but then it went off the rails. So much so, that it ruined it a bit for me.
It starts strong. Hannah and Killian have always been attracted to each other. He pursues her but she always turns him down. He lives in Chicago and works for her brother’s security firm. She loves her life in Colorado and won’t ask him to uproot his life to be with her. When Hannah goes missing in the woods, chased by armed poachers, Killian races to find her.
I liked that even though Hannah needed rescuing she put herself through hell to escape. She knew people would be coming for her and she fought to survive to give them a chance to find her. I liked that instead of Hannah and Killian dancing around each other for most of the book they have an honest conversation early on about what they want from each other. Communication is refreshing!!! Hannah wants Killian but doesn’t want him to sacrifice his life to move for her. Killian just wants Hannah to give him a chance and believe him when he says she is worth it. It’s after this we go off the rails.
I get the poachers following Hannah on the mountain. She saw their faces and they want to eliminate her. I did not understand why they kept trying to get to her after. No one knew who these guys were. So she saw you? So what? Just leave town. They kept further exposing themselves to go after her when they were in no real danger of being caught. Then 80% in they are apprehended and I thought, ok there is obviously a larger plot here. With so much book left there must be a big conspiracy at play. Nope! The last 20% is basically an epilogue with a random act of violence, that felt out of left field, from a minor character we met earlier in the story. I kept waiting for something more to happen. It doesn’t.
I’m torn whether I want to continue this series. I liked Owen and Maggie in this book and would like to read their story next. But the pacing of this was so off to me it makes me question if this author and I are on the same page (pun intended).
Sweet story. Hero has expressed interest in the heroine but she has refused to get involved due to the distance they live from each other. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. "I haven’t so much as looked at another woman since I met you. It’s been a long dry spell.” “Same for me"
Other man drama at the end in form of unwanted attention. HEA. Epilogue.

Wow! That was so boring, and I still don’t know Hannah.
In every single book, Hannah is mentioned, but she never speaks, so we have no clue about her. In Jake and Annie’s book, With This Ring, everyone is mentioned but her! Was she not at her brothers wedding???? It’s WEIRD!!! Having said that, Liam and Sophie are hardly ever mentioned either.
Hannah works at a wildlife centre, when her boss asks her to go check on an eagle. As there has been poachers in the area. Hannah is attacked and injured and the poachers are after her. Killian is sent to find her. Along with Jake and Owen.
The whole book doesn’t make sense! Hannah describes the poachers, as looking like ex military, with advanced equipment. So why do they act like bumbling idiots with her??? When she escapes them, they’re shooting everywhere to find her. Like amateurs!
Eventually Killian rescues Hannah and the poachers are still shooting in the other direction! What, they can’t follow footprints???
It’s decided that Hannah, who has a broke ankle, (and acts like it’s nothing!) will need protection from the poachers. Hmm. Killian spots their car several times, but doesn’t manage to get their licence plate. Aside from wondering how he doesn’t. Hannah already knows it as she spotted it before she approached the men. And she notes that it’s a local car and not a rental!!!! Which is never mentioned again!!!
So Hannah and Killian fall in love, and I don’t really care at this point. The poachers are caught. So easily it’s crazy!!! Hannah has her plaster taken off, and is instantly able to go on a hike!!! OH COME ON!! BROKEN LEGS ARE SO WEAK AFTER BEING IMMOBILISED FOR SIX WEEKS!!! There is no way that she could go for a hike!!!
Sex was boring. The whole book was boring! I can’t believe that she wrote this!
While on a hike in the mountains to check on a bald eagle nest, Hannah McIntyre runs into poachers and finds herself in trouble as they plan to kill her. Due to a massive snowstorm, Hannah is able to escape temporarily into the forest until she falls and injures her ankle. Her only hope now is if her friend Maggie notices that she is missing and calls her brother who runs a security company in Chicago for help. Killian Devereaux works for Hannah's brother, and she hopes he will be sent to find her even though she has made it clear that a relationship between them can't happen because they work on different sides of the country.
While Search and Rescue begins with a bang, it fizzles out in the middle and drags all the way to a very anticlimactic and odd conclusion. The beginning of the book brings the reader right into the action as Hannah discovers the poachers and gets injured, but from that point on, the pacing is terrible. The characters are never developed and neither is the relationship between the protagonists. The majority of the investigation into the poachers happens off page and there are no flashbacks to show how Hannah and Killian met, making their relationship feel like insta-love. Overall, Search and Rescue had lots of potential but ends up being a massive disappointment.
I love a good interconnected standalone series, but the most important part of that term is standalone. This is the first book in this specific spin-off series, but there are nine full length novels in the original series, and I felt like I was missing a ton of context by having not read that series. Apparently the last book the last book in the previous series had Killian confessing his feeling for Hannah and her only rejecting him because of them living in different cities. You can't start a standalone novel with our characters being at the point in their relationship where only distance is keeping them from a romantic relationship. It felt like I had been throw into the middle of a romance novel with how far along their romance already was at the start of the book. I'm sure that if I had read the previous book and all of the build up I would have enjoyed this, but this just isn't a standalone novel
Some authors have a way of immersing you in a story so you never want it to end. April Wilson is one of those authors. As a fan of her McIntyre Security Bodyguard series, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this spin-off series centering on Hannah McIntyre and Killian Devereaux’s inevitable relationship. The chemistry Wilson built in her other books definitely did not go to waste. Because when Hannah & Killian’s worlds collide, they come together in the most perfect storm. A fast paced plot and well-developed characters held my attention, and had me holding my breath, throughout the story. Add in a late plot twist, and Wilson had me captivated until the very end. Not only did I fall hard for Killian and Hannah, but through artful glimpses at her minor characters, Wilson has me sitting here not so patiently waiting for Owen and Maggie’s story as well.
Hannah (h) has been denying the attraction between her and Killian (H) for about a year now. Killian works for her families security company, and the sparks between them are clear every time they see each other. Whilst Killian continues to put himself out there with her, they live too far away for anything real to come of it… right? When Hannah’s life is threatened, Killian puts himself on the line to protect her and Hannah is forced to confront the growing emotions between them.
Hannah was super capable and I liked that, but she did have a few moments that veered well into TSTL territory for me. Exhibit A - when she immediately went hiking after getting her cast off for a broken foot. Pretty sure that’s not medically sound advice and in reality would be impossible. But she throws a tanty and ends up going anyways. Killian was a pretty perfect hero. He knew what he wanted and he pursued it, but he also respected Hannah’s autonomy and ability to make decisions for herself. I liked the partnership dynamic between these two, and the caretaking scenes were super sweet.
In terms of plot and romance, this was pretty well balanced. It wasn’t super high stakes or suspenseful, but there were some bad guys and a threat to Hannah’s life which culminated in some action scenes. I liked the romance, but do feel there could have been a bit more tension considering Hannah had rejected Killian a few times already. Even so, I liked the communication and respect that happened in their romantic development.
I wish I could say that I plan on continuing this series but, at least for the second book, I can’t. The way that Maggie (the h from book 2) was talking about herself and Owen (H from book 2) and the hints of what their book is about made me cringe so hard. Safe to say that one’s a hard miss for me.
Overall this was a good read and if I find any more of this authors books that are safe and appeal to me, I’ll definitely give them a go!
Safety: No virgins. No recent history for either, other than that both h and H had been celibate since meeting (so about a year I think). No ow or om* drama. *some jealousy over om but nothing reciprocated at all
TW!!! There is a SA scene late in the book where an om tried to kiss and touch the h but she manages to defend herself before anything terrible happens.
* She is supposed to be super prepared for anything but wears a thin jacket on a 4 hr hike with a blizzard forecasted. Only carrying 1 bottle of water.
** He knows 2 men are chasing her, from the footprints, yet he is yelling her name through the ravine. ***Doesnt seem smart Mr. Badass
*** Killians strapped a pistol to his chest while preparing to seach for hannah,
“Copy that. Out.” Armed with my Glock in my chest holster and a hunting knife in a sheath strapped to my thigh
Yet when he finds her and starts to carry her out, she says, “I hope you’re armed,” I say. “They took my gun and knife.” ***Ummmm. It's strapped to his chest***
***** Highly trained military like poachers shooting willy nilly into the ravine. How many bullets did they bring? Killian followed her tracks, but they couldn't?
It was okay. The supposed big bad guys are just a small blip on the radar screen here. They also do really dumb crap, like fire guns randomly at absolutely nothing. We learn nothing about them, either. Not even their names. That conflict is resolved in a rather anti-climactic way.
The last conflict is unrelated, out of the blue, and feels contrived. All in all, it’s a slow moving story with lots of internal dialogue and all of the excitement is practically over with after the first quarter of the book. Killian is a good guy. Hannah is alright, if a bit self-centered. Even she admits to being that way in the end. Speaking of which, the ending Epilogue somehow managed to feel both drawn out and abruptly ended. Not sure how that’s possible, but there ya go.
I'm so disappointed in this book. It started out so promising! I cannot stand Hannah! Her "independence" is ridiculous. She's ungrateful and presumptuous. The chemistry was non-existent. I have no desire to read anymore of this author's work after wasting time on this one. The writing wasn't bad (was actually good and had me giving two stars instead of one) but this writer's idea of a relationship isn't for me.
DNF 41%.... So. Boring. And dumb. All I could think of while I was reading was that this whole book hinged on the premise that a) Hannah did not call the car license plate in and b) the "elite" military poachers just.... came out of hiding and engaged with Hannah. Why?? Why wouldn't they just stay hidden? It's a HUGE forest.
And the ONLY reason Hannah has spurned Killian this entire time is because of distance? She didn't think it was worth a conversation over the years? Ugh.

I’ve been dying for this book to come out. Just dying. And I’m so excited that it’s here. One thing I recommend before reading this book is reading the rest of the books from April regarding these characters first otherwise you’ll be confused a bit. When you’re reading about how often Killian has asked Hannah out, you can’t help but kind of swoon over it. Though I really wish April would have included flashbacks to it especially since this is the start of a new series. From a reader’s perspective, if I started with this book first before reading any of the other McIntyre books I’d be really confused. I think having those flashbacks would have been awesome to have and would help readers not be so confused or left out if they’re unfamiliar with the characters.
I also wish there would have been a bit more of a struggle to find Hannah. I wasn’t expecting them to recover her so quickly but I loved it. The internal disputes about yellow snow was hilarious.
And when Killian goes down Hannah.. that’s just *wipes sweat*
I really enjoyed this book overall. It’s technically an instant love which I don’t usually like, but it’s also not. It was cute and endearing watching Killian take care of her and help her heal.
Are there things I felt this book was missing? Yes. But overall, the book was still really good to read.
I loved this book so much! I have no complaint, it was great from beginning to end, lots of things happened without feeling rushed, I loved the pace set, loved the romance between the two main characters, loved that there was no dramatic scene in the middle or TSTL moments, and bonus point, I didn't see the last "event" coming. That doesn't happen all that often!
This is my third or fourth book by this author and I will definitely read more of her work. Now I cannot wait for the next book in the series about Maggie and Owen, and already preordered it :)
Story of Hannah and Killian and some poachers who want to kill Hannah.
These two have been circling around each other for a little while. And Shane assigns K to help find Hannah after she's shot and left to fend for herself in a blizzard.
I'm more interested in Maggie and the reclusive Owen.
this book was relatively mediocre if im being honest...
I read it because S&R is one of my favorite plot backgrounds in a book, ever since I read the search by Nora Roberts. and no other romance has lived up to that lol. I was pretty immediately turned off with the "nature warrior" description. she's not a nature warrior, she's a wildlife rehabber who likes hiking and going outside (and no one is ever using that phrase to describe a man who likes outdoor activities so its just yuck).
then there's the idea that these two poachers are gonna kill someone over one bald eagle? yeah I know people kill over small amounts of cash/consequences, and I get the first attempt against her to impulse cover up their bad acts. but the follow up, the "hunting" of her? wouldn't you just run? her memory of them isn't going to be that great, she was attacked and set over a cliff and then could have died by exposure. its a tiny town, without a ton of resources. cops are gonna look for 5 minutes and then close the case.
also def died over the idea that they are "going to get her with everything they could need and then they start naming guns and ammo and like vests. that aint what you need going into an actual s&r situation. you need food, lightweight blankets, a fire starter, a first aid kit (advanced level), like omg did you even think).
I dunno I just thought it was dumb... and then the freaking ending
I couldn't stand Hannah! For someone so strong, independent and doesn't need anyone, she sure was incompetent, selfish, a burden, and ungrateful. I was fed up when she told the H that she could help and to stop babying her when she was in the hospital with a fever, bullet wound, concussion, broken ankle, scratches/bruises and had spent the entire night exposed to the elements (snow) with minimal protection. If that wasn't one of the most stupid/ridiculous things that I had ever read, it was then followed by the H loving how feisty/strong she was. *SCREAMING*
I love this type of plot, but the authors almost always ruin them with awful female characters. The writing was good, and I liked the side characters. I won't repeat what the other 1/2 star rating reviewers have said, but I totally agree with them.

What a book that was and I absolutely loved it. Killian and Hannah are a perfect match and I couldn’t put this baby down. I certainly didn’t trust Ray and neither did Killian. Cannot wait for Owen and Maggie’s story.
It was a three-day whirlwind trip. Now, it's time for, Hannah McIntyre to go to work. Yet, she barely got home the day before. After being in, Chicago to celebrate the birth, of a new niece. Her oldest brother, Shane, and his wife, Beth gave birth to their second child, Ava. She is so tired that she is honestly thinking of playing hooky. Even Scout her one-year-old, Belgian Malinois seems to agree. He doesn’t seem ready to jump out of bed either. With the way, he is stretching against her.
But, when the dog hears something outside she knew hooky, wasn’t an option. Since, she had to take him out, anyway. Because if she doesn't exercise him he is full of, too much energy. Especially, while she’s at work. Before heading to work she stopped at her friend, Maggie’s grocery store to get her, daily donut and coffee fix. While there she gets a call from her boss to see if she could go up to the ridge, and check on, Betty the Bald Eagle. He told her to be careful because there, are reports that there are poachers, in the area. Also, she needs to mind the weather because a storm is, quickly moving in.
She arrives in the lot to see a black SUV with blacked-out windows. So, she knew there were at least other hikers on the mountain. When she pulls out her binoculars to check on, Betty she sees her. She hears a rustling sound to her right. Telling her she’s not alone up there. She turns to spot a man dressed in all black, a black knit cap covering most of his blond hair, and a pair of fancy binoculars. What worries her is that he’s carrying a sniper rifle. She asks so many questions the guy he’s working with gets the drop on her. Before she can turn back, something hard presses against the back of her skull. Shite. A rookie mistake. They think she's a cop. They zip-tied her to a tree and planned on shooting her but were worried someone might happen upon them. Then, decide to take her someplace else to kill her.
That's when she gets the jump on them using the ten years of kickboxing training she has with her brother, Liam. She throws a heel hook kick into the loser behind her, as they are walking her down the mountain, knocking him off balance as the sole of her boot clips his jaw hard. That's what happens when the boss walks faster than the prisoner and his help. Then she ran like hell at a perpendicular angle to the trail, hoping to lose them in the densely packed woods that border the trail.
Things didn't work out well. When she didn't show up at Maggie’s for dinner. She called the Sheriff and then Shane. Who mobilized Killian Devereaux and Jake McIntyre. The two together are lethal, they went to the company armory and pack enough firepower to wage a small war. They took guns, ammo, night vision goggles, tactical gear, Kevlar vests, high-powered two-way radios, satellite phones, everything, and anything they might possibly need. Just shy of an hour, the company jet is packed with the gear, and Jake and him are wheels-up.
Hannah is missing, injured, and there are poachers after her. Not to mention that she’s a sitting duck for just about any kind of deadly animal you can think of. Will the born, Cajan tracker, Killian find the woman he’s been in love with for over a year? It's a wait-and-see. Or will the random bullets, the poachers are spraying, get to her first? Hannah is so similar to, Lia in personality. Very independent and never wants to accept help. Love me some, Killian.
“I have two teenage boys. I invented first aid.” Luv it.
Hannah has several siblings including a sister Lia and brother, Liam. Seriously? Lia and Liam. Pass.
My biggest gripe about dual perspective books is that they always lean heavily to the female side. And there is a fair amount of redundancy. Little comments, thoughts, or feelings inserted here and there that were already mentioned. For example- Page 12- Scout, my one year old Belgian Malinois...and he jumps off the bed and races out... Page 13- Then he starts barking at the door... Page 14- Scout, my one year old Belgian Malinois, Scout hops off the bed... Both Hannah and Scout got up on page 12, then she reintroduced him and they both got up again two pages later.
It’s the closest grocery store...gets fresh baked goods to sell from the diner next door...meat from the butcher down the street- wouldn't people just buy from the bakery and butcher directly since each is so close?
Rugged, outdoorsy types that drive Jeeps or ride motorcycles- does Hannah actually live in Colorado? Nearly everyone drives a Subaru.
A sheriff and deputies are not cops. They are law enforcement, yes, but a sheriff's office and a police department are not the same thing. In this book, law enforcement works for the former.
There is no way enough school age kids live in an area of rural Louisiana to warrant three schools (elementary, middle, high). There would be one K-12.
I have really enjoyed this series. Every book made me want to read the next characters story. All the books had similar irritations though, and these are mine: The McIntyre family, is very unbelievably badass with super perfect sexy men who can do no wrong and fail to exist in the real world. A few flaws wouldn't have gone a miss April, and they all look the same if the authors descriptions are anything to go by. The huge family have a great relationship and family dynamic. The family is overly nice and welcoming to all with barely a bad word said between them which is slightly crazy, I'm sure a family that bit would have the odd falling out or gritty conversation
The author got caught up in the romance of this book, rushed to bring the characters together, leaving the sub plot with the poachers a bit lacking. Jake arranged for security at Hannah's place, cameras, sensors etc yet it couldn't even get the registration plate of the poachers vehicle. Nobody could locate them despite the strength of McIntyre security. Come on. Killian knocks them in a ditch, doesn't get a plate number and keeps driving even though they're wanted for attempted murder! You actually wonder why the poachers bothered, anyone with sense would have just left the bloody area and moved on. Stalking around a hospital with conveniently no cctv to finish someone off you don't know for sure is there seems crazy And foolhardy.
And unfortunately like so many of the previous books in the series, a sweet, seemingly pleasant man is so hooked on a McIntyre girl he commits sexual assault, instead of graciously taking no for an answer like most rational men. There are a lot of these irrational characters in this series which has been somewhat irritating! (The baseball boys from the last book being a prime example, who actually behaves like that!).
My biggest bugbear of the series. Dominic and Sophie. Dominic's father's unrealistic lack of anger 're his legitimate son going to jail. Come on! Even if he was an arsehole, his father, a gangster would still care, especially as Dominic didn't want the family extortion business. Plus the son, in jail or not would still have connections and a burning desire to get Sophie and Dominic offed. But apparently not in April's story which was all rainbows and happy endings. That book was desperate for a grittier ending even if Dominic's family had to die to make it more realistic. Sorry.
Overall, good stories, entertainment and juicy sex scenes, (Sam&Coop especially hot), but grittier plots with more reality and better research would improve the next series.
Search and Rescue: McIntyre Security Search and Rescue Book 1 is by April Wilson. This book is set in Colorado on the northern edge of Estes Park. The area is mainly for serious hikers and climbers as well as nature lovers. Hannah McIntyre lived in a one-bedroom cabin in the woods outside of town with her dog, Scout. She had created an obstacle course to train Scout. She wanted to train him to be a search and rescue dog. He was very smart; but still very young. Hannah worked at the wildlife rehab center. She worked with the animals as well as with visitors to the center. Today, her boss called to ask her to check on a bald eagle, Betty, as there was a rumor that poachers were out stalking her. This was the part of her job that Hannah loved, being outdoors. A snowstorm was coming so she had no time to waste. Leaving the grocery store where she had stopped for breakfast, she promised Maggie she would come for supper. She headed for the trailhead. There was one car at the trailhead indicating someone was out there. However, she saw nor heard anyone as she hiked up. She was pleased to see Betty flying in her habitat, unharmed. However, there was a strange man on the mountain. He wasn’t dressed like a hiker and he had a high-powered rifle. She sensed he was up to no good. Before she could do anything, a second man got the drop on her and suddenly, she was captive. She knew she needed to escape and on the way down the mountain as their prisoner, she got the drop on the man behind her and escaped into the woods which were now filling with snow. The men came after her. In Chicago, Killian Deveraux was called into his boss’s office. Here, he was told by Hannah’s brother of her disappearance on the mountain. He was given the job of tracking her and finding her. He was to meet up with Owen, another tracker, in Bryce and find Hannah. Would they be too late?
Hannah's a mountain girl, living in a small cabin in Colorado with her dog, Scout, and working as a wildlife ranger. But when she goes to investigate illegal poachers, her life suddenly becomes far more dangerous than the odd encounter with a mountain lion or bear. She’s now caught down a ravine with a broken ankle after running for her life through a snowstorm. Luckily her brother runs a private security firm, and when her friends report her missing, he sends in the cavalry.
Killian’s the man who finds her. He’s loved her since they met, more than a year ago, but she’s always rebuffed him. Hannah believes he would never want to exchange city life in Chicago for life in the wilderness with her. But now, with the poachers still after her, a broken ankle, and her refusal to leave town, Killian’s given a new assignment - protecting his boss’s baby sister.
Now Hannah and Killian are forced together for weeks in a cabin with only one bed. Can Killian resist temptation and keep her safe, or will Hannah finally give in to the passion she’s been hiding for so long?
Search & Rescue is a fantastic escapist read with a smouldering Cajun hero and a strong heroine. Hannah’s more than capable of looking after herself, even if she’s frustrated by a pair of crutches. She’s also ready to fight for her man just as much as he fights for her. Killian is every woman’s dream. He’s patient yet decisive, and willing to sacrifice everything for Hannah. I read this book in one sitting as it was such a page turner. I hope you love it too!
April Wilson’s protective men always make me swoon and Killian was no exception. Leaving behind Chicago, Search and Rescue takes to the mountains of Colorado and the dangers of the wild. From poachers to a mountain lion, Killian and Hannah who have long been dancing around one another finally take the plunge and accept that they are meant for each other.
Killian gets a call that no man wants to hear. The woman who he can’t stop thinking about is missing in the mountains of Colorado. When her brother and Killian’s boss asks him to track her down and bring her home safe, Killian is all too eager to leave Chicago and put his tracking skills to use. Hannah won’t let armed poachers take her out without a fight and she does whatever it takes to survive until she is found. But when these two reunite, things really begin to burn between them and that is only the beginning of their story.
I have long been a fan of April and each time she releases another book, I can’t help but be excited. Search and Rescue is a spin off series from her McIntyre Security series and this promises to be another amazing series. Though I missed all the characters from McIntyre security, I think this series will give her a fresh scene to create some amazing characters and stories. Overall, this was a fantastic read and listen. Hannah has long been an elusive character and Killian one whose story fans craved. Search and Rescue delivered everything these two characters needed for an action packed journey to their HEA. If you’ve not read April yet, I can’t recommend her enough.
This book was very good. It is the first book in the McIntyre Search and Rescue series. This story was fun and spicy 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
This story revolved around Hannah McIntyre who is quite independent, stubborn and attracted to a guy who works for her brother Shane McIntyre. Hannah works in the mountains at a wildlife conservation rehab center. One day while going on a nature trail she comes upon some poachers. They want to kill her but she is able to get away. She falls down into a ravine. Her brother sends a guy named Killian Deveraux.
Killian works for Hannah’s brother. He is trained to find people and plus he used to be in the military. Killian has a thing for Hannah who is a bit of a spitfire. Killian goes searching for Hannah who is injured after her fall. Killian rescues her along with a woman she knows named Maggie who helps in the search. Also another guy named Owen who is just as trained as Killian. Killian gets Hannah to a makeshift cabin where he takes care of some of her injuries and gets her warm. Hannah isn’t used to asking for help or depending on someone to help her. She ends up getting to a hospital. Killian stays with Hannah at her house she lives in with her dog who she trains. Hannah is on crutches 🩼 and has a cast on her leg. She is stubborn about being taken care of and having to depend on Killian. Killian is a Cajun through and through. They begin to fall for each other more and more in this story. I liked his friend Owen and Hannah’s friend Maggie who is mentioned in the book. I loved reading this book.
What an exciting and steamy start to the McIntyre Search and Rescue series. Search and Rescue is a great combination of drama, suspense and passion. Hannah McIntyre is a wildlife conservationist who runs into some poachers while checking out an eagle nest. She narrowly escapes but is injured and stuck out in a Colorado snowstorm. Her brother sends his best tracker, Killian Devereaux, to find and rescue her. Hannah and Killian have been attracted to each other for years but Hannah has held back. When he comes for her, she can't deny her feelings any longer. Killian will do whatever it takes to keep Hannah safe from the poachers who are after her. Then he will do whatever it takes to convince her that they are destined to be together, forever. I loved Hannah's strength and determination. Killian is the ultimate swoony alpha. But no matter how he tried to keep Hannah safe, he could never deny her anything. This fast paced, steamy romance was brought to life flawlessly by the talented Jacob Morgan, and Callie Dalton. Morgan had the perfect balance of Killians smoldering, alpha dominance, with a swoony tender side, and I loved his Cajun accent. Dalton showed us Hannah's strength and resilience so beautifully. I loved listening to them both as they drew me in, and made this story even more exciting.
I really enjoyed book 1 of McIntyre Search and Rescue. I adored Hannah i think she was an awesome character who knew how to take care of herself and kick butt when she needed to but she also knew when to accept help even if it was hard to accept. She also wasn’t stupid when it came to dangerous situations so whilst she wasn’t willing to let her man go at it alone she also understood he knew more and was willing to listen within reason- it made her an amazing character to read about. Killian was a great hero he was so respectful of Hannah and straight off you could tell he adored her and so respectful of her boundaries whilst also knowing that some of them needed to be pushed a little bit to further their love story. He always wanted to protect her but knew that she could handle herself and was able to accept that she could handle a lot and he respected that which made such a hot man! I enjoyed all the secondary characters and absolutely adored Scout and hope to see more of him and his training in the subsequent books. I have to say one of my favourite things apart from the great plot line was the beauty of the mountains and scenery that was described by April Wilson it had such a beautiful feel and i can’t wait to read more about it.
SERVE AND PROTECT by APRIL WILSON ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Serve and protect is the sixth (#6) book in the ‘McIntyre Search And Rescue’ series.
Sheriff Chris Nelson has loved Jennie Lopez since they were kids, but by the time he’d asked her out several times only to be refused, he decided enough was enough. Better he keep their close friendship intact.
When Jennie’s abusive ex- husband appears, threatening to burn her life down, Chris swears to keep her safe, at any cost….
————————— There is reference to abusive behaviour *
Once again April Wilson has written an engaging, interesting, addictive read.
The Serve And Protect series about the inhabitants of a quaint small town is such an easy read, with Alpha heroes, vile protagonists and an array of fascinating characters.
Jennie and Chris have both held unrequited feelings for the other, both too afraid to admit them for fear of ruining the close friendship they cherish.
There are a few open door spicy scenes.
I read a paperback of this book at around 300 pages, great editing and a couple cover that fits in with previous books in the series.
