The 10 year high school reunion brings Adam in contact with the man he had a crush on for ever, Blair. Both men leave early and Blair takes Adam to his hotel room. There is Blair’s partner Logan. They have the best night. All Adam’s dreams come true.
Everything seems to go smooth with the three of them, until Adam get stalked by one of the girls, now woman, from high school.
Super fast story, awesome sexy, and less superficial as I suspected it would be. Captivatingly written and very appealing to read. Three engaging men with a lot of affection. A short but enjoyable read
It works for some people as long as the woman stays out of it.
Two high school best friends return for the 10 year reunion. But Stella has not forgiven them yet. She makes moves to split them up permanently, not realizing that they are both gay. Plus the pro football player has a gay partner. But all is good until Stella makes her moves, then all bets are off. Transfer to Alaska might be cold for football, especially without a team.
But love conquers the 3 way and keeps Stella out of the action.
Every time I read this author I keep thinking that eventually I'll think that the story ends up as interesting as the blurb, and I am disappointed every time.
In what way was this a first time romance? None of the characters in this book were virginal, all of them had active, gay, sex lives, and maybe Adam hadn't had a threesomes before, but even that was doubtful.
I found Blair to be off-putting. Neither he nor Logan really ever asked Adam if he wanted to have sex with them, they simply assumed and seduced him into agreeing with them. The fact that they intended to make this a permanent relationship makes it even worse that they deliberately treated their third as a trick.
And WTF was up with the Stella character? No one selfish enough to ruin someone's career over a perceived slight would change their mind like she did, simply because she saw proof of true love. This character was nowhere near self aware enough to match her choices.
All I wanted was some juicy smut. Lots of explicit nooky and hot guys. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for. So a short story with an MMM ménage? Sign me up! But my god! This was bad.
It’s not the storyline as such that makes this a terrible read. Even a silly storyline can be awesome if told by a talented writer. No, it's the unfortunate combination of several things. The most minor one, in my opinion, but the thing that is so very telling about an author, are all the spelling errors, switched around words and general grammatical jumble. Those things are annoying and it’s obvious Double Teamed wasn’t proof read, but I can look past such things for a good story. Meaning I can’t look past them at all in this book.
This is a story with a threeway. It’s a short read focusing entirely on the interactions and relations between the main characters. I was counting on some quality s*xytimes. And yes, there was definitely some n*dy scenes. They were far from sexy though. Since the writing is so poor, it’s hard to say if it’s the writing itself that’s the problem or if the robotic description of random licking, slapping and sucking on bodyparts is due to lack of understanding of human s*xual relations. There's no feeling. No emotion. I get that it’s more difficult to describe three people getting it on than it is describing two. But what’s the point of smut if you’re unable to tell who’s doing what with whom and where? And most importantly, there is absolutely no point in describing the nasty if it’s just robotic, repetitive motion.
Now, about the storytelling. The POV jumps around even though the entire story is told from Adam’s point of view. Everything is exaggerated and/or implausible. The characters feel as real and three-dimensional as paper cutouts. The “plot” is so infantile it would be funny if only I hadn’t actually paid for this book. Also, when an author writes about something they don't know, it shines through. Always. Adam’s supposedly a lawyer. He’s described as wanting to be a “correct” lawyer. Cole's description of Adam’s lawyer-ly job is “signing those papers and replying emails”. Wow. I could go on. But I think I’ve made my point. When I read this book there was no mention of it on any site I frequent and it didn’t seem worth the effort to make a unilateral entry. It still doesn’t exist on Goodreads or 50 Book Pledge. Like so many other such books it seems to be a pretext to engage in lengthy descriptions of male on male sex. If that’s your thing have at it and if the author sells enough copies maybe he can afford a proper editor for his books.
Full disclosure: I couldn't finish this. Didn't even make it through the first chapter and frankly I shouldn't even be including this for my challenge count . First, the formatting on this is atrocious. This author appears to have a MASSIVE number of works (!!) and I am simply appalled if this is a fairly recent release and in this condition. My second immediate "do better" response is: PICK A DAMN TENSE.
The writing itself is just awful. It's incredibly basic. No feeling in it. Very matter-of-fact, and none of those facts are interesting. I feel like I was reading a leveled reader for children. I am grateful I never made it to a sex scene. I can only imagine!
So, please, for the love literature, please get a new hobby. Or at least find an editor who can breath some life into this drivel.
This book was the first I read from this author I really liked the book even though I didn't like that Adam was be consulted if he wanted to join Logan and Blair in a threesome I found the history of the stalker interesting but it all came together way too easily
An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review
Good storyline, the book started pretty well too. But then came the reunion scene between Adam and Blair and you can already feel something’s missing : no background story for the guys we don’t know much more during the entire book, and then Logan comes up and again nothing even until the end we don’t know anything about him like AT ALL! Oh and those three they don’t seem to talk much apart from fucking each other that’s was mighty fine BTW the smut parts are great enough but not enough what about some conversation between the guys that would have been great. But I guess it wasn’t meant to be, this book had no substance in the end.
I still continued reading, because I’m like that and also it’s not a bad book either just a disappointment, it could be so much better!!!
By then I was already thinking of giving three stars, but—- yep the stalker girl was really well portrayed it was great, but then come THE moment when everything should go down and—— Let’s just say it was anticlimactic as F*** ……😧🤔😮💨😒😩
⚠️ This book didnt have any trans gender characters!!! ⚠️
Contains: polyamory MMM, jock, high school crush, women problem (yep you read it right)
What you do when you realise that your highschool crush is gay and always wanted you? Well you fell in bed with him and his boyfriend. What do you have to do with the stubborn girl who had a crush on you back then and making now your life a hell? How to saved your relationship then?
This book is interesting, the scene are steamy, the guys are hot, it is really awesome.
I remove 1 star because even if it's good, it could have been more. Like sister reaction, more conversation about their relationship.
***Also I found this book in transgender categories... I think amazon screw that up, I didnt found any trans gender caracters in that book, but it's a nice mmm romance with a slice of drama.
I liked Adam, Logan and Blair! And the idea of the story had so much potential; Meeting your best friend and crush in a high school reunion -> getting a second chance of love AND an unexpected MMM relationship as a bonus.
But no, instead of focusing on that, the story was all kinds of ridiculous with the stalkerish, insistent woman from the past. And to make matters worse, the problem was solved in a way that didn't match the woman's character at all. Like she'd change her mind like that! No, just no. I am almost angry her character ruined a perfectly fine reading experience for me.
This book was so terrible I had to force myself to finish. The auther did not bring up that one of the charecters was almost assaulted by one of the other characters basically brushing it under the rug and laughing at it even though was it serious thing. The relationship between the charecters seemed to move very fast. I don't recommend this book to anyone.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were well developed. All three men in the romance were very likable. I was cheering for them to make it. The only thing I guess is that it just felt like the story should have been longer.
I really liked the story and characters, but it was too rushed, too many plot holes, to fully enjoy it. It would’ve been better if it was more fleshed out.
"A Second-Chance, Heart-Warming, Heat-Filled Romance"
Double-Teamed, by Van Cole, is an enjoyable semi-short, sweet, and, incredibly hot story, with a touch of angst, about a second chance love with some extra sweetness for three deserving men and an adorable little cat.
When an opportunity had presented itself to read a MMM Football Romance, I jumped at the chance. With a lightly developed storyline, over flowing with potentiality, this particular story had all the makings of a great lengthy read. A few but adequately presented characters enabled this reader to remain glued to her seat in order to witness the beginnings of an underlining double-edged romance. One of a hidden long time admiration and the other of a snarky desperately needy and seemingly well-intended individual.
I enjoyed reading Double-Teamed, as I thoroughly love this kind of troupe. I was eager to read a nice meaty sport and heat-infused melt my kindle kind-of-story. Did this happen? Meh. To an extent yes it did. My kindle did indeed melt. My heart did get all ooey gooey on more than one occasion. And, my mouth did remain agape on more than a few occasions as well. But. In the end, I needed more. As briefly mentioned, there was so much potential for such a great story, however, there was a significant need for more character background and development, more editing as there were typos, and a more developed sense of completeness for that deep and well-rounded storyline.
That all being said, I still really enjoyed reading Double-Teamed, by Van Cole, and feel that the main characters had the beginnings of such a beautiful, dedicated, and, loving relationship that I'd gladly read again.
Adam Thompson gets an invite to his 10yr high school reunion and decides only to attend to catch up with his straight high school best friend, Blair Mathis, who he has a crush on. He doesn't expect to meet Blair's partner who turns out to be a man, Logan Holt. What follows that night is unexpected and Adam sneaks out of their hotel room the next day knowing nothing good would come out of their wild night together.
It weirding me out how Adam just accepted Logan and Blair the first night and didn't really ask questions or feel morally messed up fot coming into an committed albeit open relationship. It felt rushed and emotionally the development wasn't there. Readers don't really get insight on how each of the three felt about each other, the focus is mainly on their physical relationship.
Stella was an interesting individual and I felt she added some spice to the story. There was a great deal of anticipation to see how Adam would approach the situation and I was disappointed when it came time for the climax. It all came together way too easily.
Sometimes the characters didn't make good decisions (Blair telling Adam to keep his name out of Stella presence so his position on the team wouldn't be taken away but later giving himself away) and it could get a bit frustrating.
An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review
The incredulity I experienced reading this book has reached new heights, and that’s coming from a reader who’s read over 450 KU books in 17 months, 98% of them self-published.
Here's my personal spreadsheet notes for those who are curious as to why this was too bonkers for me:
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second chance romance between Adam and Blair, but with a twist, Logan. Adam and Blair were best friends in high school, even though Blair was on the football team and Adam was kind of a nerd. Adam had feelings for Blair, but he could never act on them while they were in school. Now ten years later, their high school reunion is coming up and is asked to go to the reunion by Stella, Adam learns Blair is going, so he decides to go as a way to reconnect with his friend. Adam is now a lawyer and Blair plays professional football. Stella had a crush on Adam in high school and he couldn't tell her why he wasn't interested without coming out. Now Stella thinks she has a chance to be with him, only Adam wants to be with Blair and Logan. I liked this story and loved how Blair, Logan and Adam connected. I think the threesome all really cared about each other and i think they wanted to be together. I love how Adam was willing to do anything for them and i think they deserved to be happy together. Good one.
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Adam was thinking of not going to his reunion, after all what was the odds that his school crush/best friend would attend? After one phone call all that changed.
Blair was going to go if only to catch Adam. There was just one thing, Adam didn't know he was gay or that he has always been in love with him. Will Adam give him a chance even if he is with Logan?
Can the three make this a forever thing or will a woman from Adam and Blair's past get in the way by causing trouble for Blair's carer as a footballer? This was a great read, filled to the brim with love and steamy goodness. Highly recommend this book if looking for a wild ride of dramatic twist that will keep you interested.
💞The pluses and minuses of high school reunions--the things you dreamed sometimes DO come true!😉 September 9, 2019 3-3.5🌟 stars🔥 Not a standout or literary masterpiece, but an enjoyable second chance, lightning hook-up plot with a steamy threesome and an interesting complication involving an obsessed former classmate who can't let go of long-held delusions. I don't look to this Author for deep emotional exploration for his characters. An especially nice touch, though -- a mystery admirer haunting Adam in high school and finally revealed. Could do with some editing, but the occasional odd word choice had no impact on my ability to enjoy the heat.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest review.
What a class reunion worth going to for a change! Stella was persistent but desperately needy and pushy- WTH! It was hard to feel sorry for her- Gad! Just when Adam's fantasies come to life, will a psycho step in and ruin things? Life changes in an instant. See how! Surprising, intriguing, and steamy. Loved it. Selfless love. Inspiring!
Double-Teamed by Van Cole. I liked the characters in this story very much! I liked the story very much but, somewhere around the end with Stella it seemed to lose its steam. It was still a great story! Just not five stars for me.
I enjoyed this book. MM romance is always a good read for this lady. The characters are real and the men dont try and act stupid and hide their emotions like so many women do. I love how the relationship between these 3 men evolve and the sexy times are hot.
