May Tobias-Papa is an award-winning Filipino writer and illustrator, known for her children's books and a background in fine arts and advertising.
Tobias-Papa holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of the Philippines. She later taught illustration and typography at the university. Before focusing on children's literature, she had a long career in advertising as both an art director and copywriter.
In a 2010 interview, she revealed that she decided to pivot to children's books after a period of soul-searching. She recalled being happiest as a child while writing and drawing her own picture books. This prompted her to enroll in writing workshops. In 2013, she published Doodles and Daydreams: From Doodler to Drawing Diva in Just 30 Days! to encourage others to embrace their love of drawing. Her work has been published by major Philippine houses such as Adarna House, Bookmark, Tahanan Books, and Canvas, as well as international publishers like Tuttle Publishing.
