2.5 stars.
Had potential and the world building was great like always. However there was little conflict and the antagonist only appeared almost at the end and was defeated very fast. Also, the romance ends up being a generic repetition of her other books.
Henrick's curse could've been handled better, he was very caring with Anna even though he couldn´t "love" her. It could've been more angsty.

Well the title did say a retailing and a great retailing of a Once Upon A Time Anna sweet, like any girl dreams of marring the man she loves one, one she choose but that isn’t the case her father made a deal giving her away as part of the deal. So now she is set to marry a man who she has never met because her father took the cowards way in giving his only daughter in the name of power (his kingdom and money). Henrick sexy as all get out bear king (shifter) who wants to love, about to marry a beautiful woman, but the blood witch has cursed him making him unable to love. Henrick’s reputation proceeds him that is smart, calculating when it comes to winning battles, protective of his lands and its people but when he is threaten or Anna’s father tried taking what didn’t belong to him, she is the price to be paid (given away to their enemy). Henrick has dreamed of his mate for so many years and to finally have her is such a blessing or it would be if only he could show her just how much she means to him. But how can something brought together by force or strain be anything, but an uphill battle will the two of them communicate enough to understand each other, can they have something more than just an arrangement, will they figure out how to lift the curse and will there be a HEA like most fairytales?

This story was based on the Snow Queen fairy tale. It twists the story a bit and presents us with something new. For this book, it definitely worked! I loved the characters as presented here. Both are determined to give their marriage an honest effort and to bring happiness to each other.

Jessica has created such a unique world with magic, fantasy, and mythical creatures that you can't help but love the stories.
The Bear King has been a story I have been waiting for an it didn't disappoint! Loved the twists and action scenes that the couple had to go through.
My only wish is that this should have been a steamier read.

Ugh, I wanted to love this one SO BADLY. I really liked the character of Henrick in a previous book in the series (Rescued By The Merman), and I was so happy to see that he got his own story.
Henrick is still good, though I would have liked him a little less mushy. What I loved most about him in RBTM is that he was exceedingly blunt, to the point that he was often considered rude, and he was a very straight-forward, serious character. But almost instantly, he is besotted with his new wife and changes abruptly. Yes, I know that he's SUPPOSED to change, but it happened overnight and he was almost unrecognizable.
And the heroine, Anna - gah! I really didn't like her.
Altogether, I'm disappointed in this book. I know the author tends to sound the same throughout her series and relies on a few main tropes in every book, but this one was lacking much of a spark for me.

I DNFd this at 33% because of multiple reasons, first being that the writing was incredibly generic, and the plot didn’t seem to be really going anywhere according to the reviews so the writing has to be good. This was a full repeat of her books and also I was not a huge fan of the constant ‘he’s not like any other man I’ve met’. Like we can clearly see that and I’m not saying that you can’t feel that way, but she constantly saying it, and it gets of annoying.
Also according to the reviews at least, the curse is him not being able to say ‘I love you’. Just that. Now I’m no cursing expert, but I am incredibly petty and I know for a fact that I would never curse someone like that. She was hung up on him saying the words and even though I’m at like less than 50% I can easily tell that he cares about her immensely.
So if she has such low standards that the devil himself can trip on it how can she not accept that? Thank you for that question, it’s because she is horrible. Her POV was the most repetitive part of this book, and for some reason the only time she cared about hurting his feelings is when she needs him. Which is really weird considering she loves him way more than he loves her (in her very wrong opinion).
She was also surprisingly weird about being humble, like the author was trying to portray that she always wanted to be, but never was able to/allowed to and that’s just sort of awkward and make her sound stuck up. Let’s be honest, the only reason that he’s constantly telling us that she’s amazing is because everything she’s doing is pretty basic for a heroine/FMC of her type, so someone has to tell us that it’s heroic.

I really love this series! And I love this take on The Snow Queen.
I wasn’t able to write this review immediately and I’ve been under anesthesia in the time since, but there are still parts of this book that stick out to me.
I love this heroine. She’s so strong. She makes her decisions for her safety and the safety of her family. Not her crappy father. She isn’t afraid to jump in and do the crazy thing to protect the people around her. She’s not some simpering princess even though the hero is afraid that she may be.
And the hero…that sexy bear shifter had me feeling all the feels. The fact that he was so appalled by the thought that she wasn’t as willing in this marriage as he was lead to believe speaks volumes. The way he is beloved by the people around him. He’s so strong and taciturn, but he’d do anything for her. I liked him in Rescued by the Merman. I love him in this!
The thing that lost it a star for me is that we get so much build up to the end and then everything is taken care of quite quickly. Not exactly in the time it takes, but in how quickly it’s written. I wish there were just a bit more detail to really make that ending feel more satisfying.
Overall, 4 stars. Slow burn. Bear shifter. Forced marriage of convenience. Strong female MC princess becomes queen. Big, strong Alpha male MC who is also a king. Slow burn. A curse. Fairy tale retelling. When the spice happens it’s lovely, but I wouldn’t call this one as spicy as the first one.

These tales are all well known and have been told many times before. It all means nothing though for the story seems so new as the writing wraps around you and whisks you away to another world. There is such a magical quality to it and you can't help but be spellbond by it. Anna has been given away by her father to the Bear King, Henrick. She thinks she is doing it out of duty to keep her kingdom safe when in truth it is just because her father wants to and is a total git, no other reason. Henrick has seen Anna in his dreams for years without knowing who she truly was, aside from the one person meant for him by the stars, his fated mate. He knows that as much as he wants to adore Anna a curse prevents him from loving. He will be the best mate that he can but he will never be able to love her. Can he live with that knowing what it might do to her? Can Anna reconcile the tales of the cruel, heartless and barbaric Bear King to the caring man she is now spending time with? Can she give him her heart when he has none to give in return?
Just so beautifully told and one that I will re-read often as with the others in this series. Have to say though I have a real soft spot for Henrick.

I wanted to like this book, but I dnf'd at 90% by the end of it i was just annoyed and bored with the whole thing.
So here's Anna marrying the bear king to bring peace to the kingdom. I love arranged marriage trope, so this is good and that's all that i like about this book.
I don't understand why Anna is fixated on a love marriage, even though she knows about the curse she can't accept that Henrick can't love her and so throws a hissy fit about it. I was frustrated as further into the book she gets upset with Henrick for not telling her about the curse earlier, so that she could stop herself from developing feelings for him. Even though they spoke about the curse close to the beginning of the relationship before any mention of her loving him and she mentioned how she had no control on how fast she fell in love with Henrick.
The contradictions are strong in this one. The repetitiveness in this book is tiring, and felt sloppy. Anna said about 3 times in one chapter how she fast she was falling in love with Henrick - I think we got it!!!

Claimed by the Bear King by Jessica Grayson is the perfect mix of romance and magic!
King Henrick caught my attention when he appeared in book 3 of this series; Rescued by The Merman. He has been cursed by the Snow Queen and is unable to love. He has a gruff demeanor and is plainspoken which unintentionally offends others. Despite his brusque manner he is absolutely charming! He was patient and kind as he tried to win over his reluctant wife, Princess Anna.
Anna's father arranges her marriage to King Henrick in order to keep his lands and title. Anna's father is a womanizer so she enters into the arrangement with the same expectancy. These two each have their own relationship trauma to deal with and it was beautiful to read them overcome the issues together, ultimately achieving a HEA.
I was impressed with the depth of the characters and the overall storyline.
A highly recommended slow-burn fated mates romance!

Consensual and descriptive (yet brief) - H/h are both virgins

this had potential but I felt it lacked and didn’t have much depth. I’ve come to expect this now, due to reading the previous books in the series. This is a snow queen retelling, and I have to be honest I didn’t vibe with that original fairytale much as a kid, but that’s just me. I felt our characters were fine but it again it all felt repetitive like the previous books, the story seemed to rush at the end and I skimmed to the end so I could be done with it in all honesty.
It’s not my fave in the series I still think books 2 and 4 are the strongest so far. But I still found moments in here that were cute. I don’t hate the books, they are good ‘pass the time reads’, they’re just simple fairytale retellings with a sprinkle of steam here and there. the cover alone for this book gets a star and the other two are for the story and writing. Henrick is the Bear King of the North and Anna is forced to be his without meeting him. Her father wants something for himself and hands her over to get it. When Henrick and Anna meet, they work to get a good relationship, opening up and learning what the situation really is - he is cursed to never truly feel love. This just makes Anna work harder to thaw his heart. He has seen her in his dreams and knew she was his mate.
The characters are terrific, with great backstories and intense determination. The storyline has plenty of drama, surprises, tension, plotting, romance and much more. Loved their chemistry and banter as they head for their goal. After a great ending, I can not wait to read more of this series.

One of the many downsides to marrying a stranger is not knowing much about them, add to that assumptions, stereotypes and a few miscommunications and the honeymoon period becomes one of discovery and revelation.
Anna is a human, perhaps not as physically tough as a bear shifter, but Heinrick quickly discovers she has the heart, and mind, of a true Queen of the North.
This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read is positively charming. The newlyweds are each making a good faith effort, and their attempts to understand one another, applying the ways and norms of their own people creates all kinds of interesting fun.

I love this retellings! Im always fascinated how each
one is unique and beautiful! This one might be my new favorite from Aria! I love how the bear couldn’t say the “L” word but was still able to show his feelings and emotions. Henrick is such a noble gold hearted man that has been cursed to never know love.
I loved his story and his bluntness. His addition to this fairytale world was good and I loved all the conflicts and near death experiences he and Anna fight through.
A delicious surrender to love against all odds and curses. I love how Henrik is so devoted and gentle with Anna, even in his blunt way. I think getting to hear his thoughts endeared him to me even more.
I really hope we get to see all the couples with their babies when they are all born! Each new couple and alliance has me begging for it more and more.

I loved this book! I've had the pleasure of reading two other books in this series, and they are always so magical and intriguing; wonderful and imaginative retellings of classic fairy tales. I first met King Henrick back in Rescued by the Merman and really liked him. I was looking forward to his own book so he could get his happy ending. This was well worth the wait! Great world building. Wonderful characters and a beautiful romance. I highly recommend it. 5 stars.

I enjoyed this hot and steamy paranormal novel. it also has a touch of magic. If you like paranormal and magical novels then this book is definitely recommended. This is part 5 of the series, I would recommend reading the other parts as well.

This book is a page turner! There is action, adventure, drama, and unique storyline . The main characters are great and I love the chemistry they have. This is a great addition to the series, can not wait to read the next book!
