The Do-Over Fic — a chance to do things again, but this time — To Get it Right. But is it really such a blessing as it appears? A jaded, darker, bitter, and tired wizard who just wants to die; but can’t. A chance to learn how to live, from the most unexpected source. Story is high on Political intrigue. Dumbledore!bashing, Slytherin!Harry, Dark!Harry, eventual slash, LV/HP
Czytanie tego po raz drugi od początku było mega frajdą i mega wyzwaniem. 44 rozdziały, końca ficka nie widać, wypaliło mi mózg i udawajmy, że tego nie widzieliście.
This has serious potential… but it’s unfinished. The last two chapters they’re also taking larger risks, which makes me wary, and there’s a new opponent the author lets us hanging about.
Also, bad spelling and americanisms. Still potential for a 4½ stars if it gets finished, perhaps.
Not as well-researched in the beginning as later on, but evidently the author grew, their later stories are improved there… if not in the spelling :/
I learnt quite a lot about Niccolò Machiavelli and Marcus Aurelius here, and I encountered the St Kilda isles for the second time this year (the first was in the context of xkcd Geohashing), not having known about them at all before.
I could have done learning less about their… explicit… preferences.
I’m so sad that this work is unfinished. It’s one of the best of this kind I’ve read. The writing in this is fab too, amazing characters. They all feel full of depth. None of them are bashed recklessly. Even though this is unfinished, it’s still worth reading. Where the story gets left off is partially conclusive. There’s enough where you can feel satisfied that the characters will go off in a successful direction. Also, I love when the wizarding world just moves to an island or something. I’ve even read a few where they move to outer space. It’s a niche, but favourite, trope. And this does it well I think, to the point it stops.
