Last Stand #2

Friendly Fire

Rate this book
For deep space bounty hunters Gunn and Salvo, things are going from bad to worse.

Ren seems to be trapped in Grey's ship and the only help they can find is an old friend of Salvo with a checkered past.

And speaking of old friends, the contract out on them is attracting attention from all their old running buddies.

It's getting ugly in more ways than one. Then again, maybe that's just the way they like it.

Friendly Fire is the latest episode in the Gunn and Salvo sci-fi thriller series, a high-octane rush through the wildest corners of the galaxy!

Interesting storyline

Read the first 2 books in the series back to back, so this is a review of.both
Starts off with not much to show for it. The 2 main characters Gunn & Salvo are Bounty hunters that go on the hunt for a young woman. Nothing new there, lots of books similar. The fact that the young woman is anything but normal, no real surprise, there had to be something to make this different, but still not by much. Then we get to the kicker. The warrant for the woman's arrest comes from the federal government, but in reality, from a person who has nothing to do with them
How he manages to get the warrant issued and how he progresses the hunt, makes this series different.
In the he end we end up with those that survive meeting the bad guy, realising that things are amiss and banding together to for a loose alliance
There is obviously more to what we have seen so far, implications of a lost earth, and treasure maps but none of that has been explained in any detail yet.
Overall it's interesting I'm already onto book 3, the author has a knack of leaving it on a cliff hanger, you just want to read the outcome of

Received as an ARC, this is an honest review. The harrowing, whiplash of an adventure continues for Gunn and Salvo with the brilliant addition of Salvo's friend Okoli; whom they seek the man's help get their friend Regency but also possess an eclectic weapons collection that comes in handy as android mods hunt them down to capture Regency. For Sergeant Everett Eldridge his hunt to bring the psychopath Grey to justice intensifies that amounts to epic crazy action. The story ends in a cliffhanger that feeds well into wanting to read the next book. Highly recommended.

I received an ARC of this book, this is my voluntary review. This story has a varied cast of characters, lots of action and ends in a cliffhanger, as well as a major surprise or two.... everything I have come to enjoy about this authors work.... well cliffhangers not so much... but at least there isn't usually much of a wait between books. If you've enjoyed previous books by Mr James you'll probably love this one too.

I have read a lot of Joshua's work and throughout this one, I was trying to figure out if this was an argument between Gunn and Salvo about a past lover. The situations are repetitive, the plot is confusing because the author jumps from one situation to another and the characters are as in the first book of the series.3 STARS is the maximum I can rate this one. However, imagination and creativity such as this could appeal to another crop of readers, but not this reader.

I received a copy of this book from the author.

Gunn seems to have developed a soft spot for Regency whose brain is trapped inside Grey’s ship. If this makes no sense to you then you should begin by reading the first book in the series, “Galaxy Run”. It’s well worth the read.

In this book Gunn and Salvo need to find an old flame of Salvo’s to help Regency but will they be in time to save her?

This series is off to a flying start (pardon the pun) with these first two books.

Gunn and Salvo are back and so is the action, adventure, danger and the craziness that is their lives now. New and old friends pop in and I go the fun of seeing if they will be good and bad guys as everyone seems to be after Gunn and Salvo. What what a ride and adventure this story was. Entertaining and made me laugh and be glued to the end. Had to see what they would face and live through.

Another great space adventure as Gunn, Salvo, and friends careen from one disaster to another. An indestructible mod is chasing them, the villain, Grey, is causing horrifying havoc, and Gunn is running out of good ideas. Exciting story with tight plotting and wonderful characters.
Warning: cliffhanger.

Plenty of action and intrigue as always to keep you guessing as to what happens next. Received an ARC and reviewing because I thoroughly enjoyed it. Although it ends on a cliffhanger, I know it’s not long until the next book comes out. Well worth the wait.

Our duo that now seems to be a trio has a dilemma as Ren has merged with the ship and they need to find a way to get her out. Gunn comes face to face with his competition for Salvo’s affection and meets and unusual four legged “alien”. Super second book in the series!

Aliens are real

Gunn and Salvo are o the run and have no idea what to do. All they can hope for is to get more information before they can act. The second book in series is full of action and unexpected twists. Book three is a must.

I couldn’t put this down! The suspense and tension were perfectly balanced, keeping me on the edge of my seat. The characters were so well fleshed out that I felt like I knew them. The twists were unexpected and added to the excitement. This is a must-read!

The story is getting interesting

Gunn and Salvo are starting to battle against Grey, and finding allies along the way. But it's never that simple is it.

The fun continues

Imaginative science fiction with plenty of action. Just wondering - how do you put your head in your hands when they're cuffed behind your back?

This is my second book in the Salvo and Gunn series and I've come away from both books so far with a grin on my face.

A good, fun space adventure. It reminds me of the TV show 'Killjoy's with some of 'The Expanse' and 'Battlestar Galactica' thrown in. Not forgetting' Firefly' of course.

Looking forward to book 3.
