TAP! SWIPE! SHAKE! This interactive book will keep kids engaged as they help the main character "fix" his terrible book.In this sweet but laughable book, children will learn the elements of a story - setting, plot, conflict, characters, story resolution - through interactive, playful reading. The relatable, humorous character may be a stick figure but he is full of expression… and a little anxiety. Children of all ages will laugh at his surprising adventure and learn a valuable lesson in contentment. That is… unless you listen to him… and put the book down immediately. He DOES warn you... it's a terrible book.
My books are always created with my children in my mind and heart. When I’m not homeschooling, tidying, and toddler-taming, I’m dreaming up new books and probably indulging my weird obsession with fine-tipped Stabilo pens.
This was a fun and interactive read! It would be perfect to review elements of story and then perhaps have students try writing their own stories. The only part I didn't love is when the reader is told to slap the page. I wouldn't encourage kids to do this as the page might tear... not the kind of behavior we want to reinforce with library books. If using this for a read aloud, I would be sure to mention to students to do it gently and remind them that this is not how we should treat books.
This book will help children to understand the basics of a story. It has a lot of activities to follow the development of the book. It is not a so terrible book.
My seven year old needed to read something tonight as homework and decided to find a book on my kindle to read to his brother .. We stumbled upon this series and he is LOVING IT!
My daughter absolutely loved this book and had a lot of fun doing all the things the character asked her to do. I've already downloaded the next book for tomorrow!
A funny, visual way to show kids why details are important to a story. Even though I bought it for my second grader, I would happily read it to my upper elementary students.
This book is interactive and fun for my preschooler. It has lots of fun activities and is a good way to get started for winding down for the night even the main character ends the story on a nap!!
I read this to my 5 year old and he loves the interactive side of this book. He understands settings and conflicts and is learning without realising. A fun book for kids that introduces story writing. Highly recommend
