The Professional Tarpon Rodeo is back, and Doc Ford needs help from the trio of brave friends who make up Sharks Inc.―Luke, Maribel, and Sabina―to investigate the million-dollar competition in bestselling author Randy Wayne White’s fourth Sharks Incorporated novel, Megalops .

The Professional Tarpon Rodeo is back on Sanibel Island, offering any celebrity contestant who lands a rare piebald tarpon a one-million-dollar prize. But marine biologist Doc Ford is certain that people are cheating to win.

When an angler team illegally catches a tarpon to feed it to sharks for attention, Doc enlists the kids of Sharks Inc.―Luke, Maribel, and Sabina―to uncover their scheme. Would introverted Luke rather be trapped between a hammerhead shark and an injured tarpon―or trapped in the spotlight of internet adoration?

With the help of an unlikely new friend, the intrepid Sharks Inc. trio will unmask a band of zombies, outwit a devious celebrity manager, and rescue one elusive tarpon.

Megalops: A Shark Incorporated Novel
Randy Wayne White

I really enjoyed this little book. It was fun, and despite being about a middle school level it was educational, socially conscious, and daring. I think kids today need to learn to take a chance and do... do something.

The book is about a group of kids in FL who are working with an environmentalist to tag fish, sharks actually. They are also interested in Megalops which I learned are tarpon. I remember when I went fishing in Florida the big, big shadows under the docks and the scary look of the bottom jaw. These are Tarpon, the #1 fighting fish in America and the one with lots of protection.

The kids end up running into a million-dollar Tarpon Rodeo and find the celebrity is cheating, well not actually the celeb, more like her wicked guardian Moma Ice. It is a pretty good story with lots of excitement, dancing, and various ethnicities, the moral is about ethics.

*Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy of Megalops.

This is the first book I've read/listened to from Randy White. I was unaware that this was the 4th in a series, but I don't think you need to read the previous ones to enjoy Megalops.

The main characters come across some suspicious activity during a celebrity fishing tournament. The friends decide to do some snooping & find more questionable actions involving animals.

This story follows the lives of the 3 Sharks Inc. kids & a new friend they meet along the way. It has a good message of finding who you really are & being true to yourself.

I'd listen to the rest of the Sharks Inc. Series if given the opportunity.

Thank You Mr White !

This is such an awesome collection, I'm giving my
grand kids all 4 for their holiday gifts.

I think you have brought attention to the intelligence
of today's children, and the need to teach through important literature.

If it were in my power I'd like to see this collection brought into schools, as a science class.

We all know the needs of the future, and environment.

Randy Wayne White delivers another great adventure in MEGALOPS. Young heroes Luke, Sabina & Maribel (Cuban sisters) are employed by SW Florida marine biologist Doc Ford to tag sharks. They discover their work can be dangerous, fun and rewarding. In MEGALOPS, Luke & Doc Ford witness someone cheating in a fishing tournament and trouble starts. Environmental issues to resolve too. I especially love the characters and the dialog. The addition of a social media star and her own troubles is a nice interplay. Plenty of action and humor. All three books in the series are really good! A great story for readers of all ages.

Luke and the Sharks Inc. crew have a brush with social media fame and uncover a plot to rig a Tarpon fishing tournament which leads to a more nefarious story of child exploitation.
Once again, entertaining and educational, though I think Mr. White could have done a better job of wrapping up some loose ends.

This book was cute!! It seemed to be a step up from his other books in the series. More characters and plot lines happening at once. I enjoyed this book. It sucked me in despite being way below my reading level. I adore the setting and would recommend the whole series!

Another fine middle-grade read by Randy Wayne White.

Great story, good characters, and a thoroughly worthwhile use of reading time.

Part of me wishes this could have been in RWW's Doc Ford series. I was rooting for the 'baddies' to be eaten by the 30-year-old hammerhead shark, but alas, they all came out okay.
