A daring criminal is making waves in the Big Forest! It’s up to Agent Moose and Owlfred to save the day in Operation Owl, the third hilarious graphic novel chapter book from Mo O’Hara, the author of My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish, with illustrations by Jess Bradley.
Agent Moose and not-quite-so-special Agent Owlfred are back and better than ever!
Strange flash floods are making waves (and headlines) all over the Big Forest! Someone is pulling off particularly confounding capers and, between the flooding and the heists, Big Forest is in big trouble. When Madame HQ is nabbed right out of a very wet Woodland HQ, Agent Moose and Owlfred must wade through clues to get her back and stop the mystery criminal making a big splash in Big Forest!
Can they find this fiendish villain before Big Forest floats away?
"Originally from America, I moved to London because I wanted to live abroad but spoke no foreign languages. After a brief and unsuccessful stint as a serving wench at the Tower of London I found work as an actress and comedy performer. I’ve perfomed regularly at Edinburgh and London comedy festivals. A few years back I got a job touring around the UK as a storyteller and that’s when I discovered that kids liked, laughed at and didn’t fall asleep when I performed stuff that I wrote myself. I was hooked on writing and performing for kids..."
A stupendous tale (not tail) of daring doings, comings and goings, and peril--but savings!
Although this is a preview of book 3, it is my distinguished introduction to agents Moose and Owl. I won't say their names here because, you know, secret. Although they call each other by their names in front of everyone, even the evil bad guys. (But that may be why they have so many friends, because yelling "Hey, moose!" gets awkward in the woods.)
Any-hoo (not who), there are nefarious things going on in the Woodlands. Floods! Yes, floods! Water everywhere! And kidnappings, and bird-nappings (when a bird does the napping), and other crimes and stuff! It's like a crime palooza!
Then, thank the writer and illustrator! Agent Moose, Agent Owl, and some friends... By the way, have you seen the little projector the anteater spits out for Madame HQ? So cool, right?!
Oh! The agents, yada, yada, and some friends work together, but before that, wait. There was a building. Okay. Anyway, it was super exciting with a red beard, and Agent Owl does a brilliant job! It was a great book! I'm not sure what's classified right now, but it will be awesome!
I recommend this book for kids (6-9) as the internet says, and on up through adults who enjoy laughs, adventure, crime-solving, well-drawn cartoons and a 128 page book with 10 chapters! It would make a delightful gift!
5/5 Stars

Agent Moose: Operation Owl is a the third graphic novel in this series with Agent Moose, and his sidekick Owlfred. In this latest adventure, areas around town keep getting flooded, and Agent Moose has to find the culprit!
I haven't read either of the previous two, but for this series, that isn't super important. I loved the characters so much here, especially Agent Moose's various disguises! I definitely will go read the first two now. This is a great graphic novel series for kids. and I would recommend!
I received an electronic ARC from Macmillan Children's Publishing Group through NetGalley. Agents Moose and Owlfred are back for another exciting adventure. This time the Big Woods has been flooded and no one knows why. Each flood brings a new crime from bank robbing to kidnapping Madam HQ. Readers will love following their adventures and appreciate the craziness along the way. I appreciate Owlfred coming into his own and taking on a solo mission. O'Hara balances the absurd with enough reality to keep upper elementary readers enthralled. Looking forward to more adventures.
DNF - I haven’t read the other two books in the series. I was surprised they existed though as the main character duo and their case didn’t hold my attention. Perhaps there was more character building in the first 2 volumes?
It's almost Back to School time, and these adorable little graphic novels are perfect for young readers! Featuring Agent Moose and his trusty sidekick, Owlfred, these short and fast stories are quite an adventure!
This was such a cute book. This follows a group of critters who more agents trying to figure out the mystery to the dam breaking. I absolutely loved the idea of the moose being a secret agent and the pictures were phenomenal.
