Rising from the wreckage of a crashed ship, a man explores a world that is at once strange and familiar. When he encounters the inhabitants of that world, he learns some uncomfortable truths--and a few uncomfortable things about himself. When he is faced with choices to make in the present, will he defer to the past? Or will he embrace a new future? Who he was, is, and will become is the journey of a lifetime that he never expected.
Jonathan showcases his talent in luring readers to follow him into the world he creates. You never seem to feel him build it because you are too busy walking inside it. Before you know it, Jonathan is leading you to explore your own moral depth as you follow on his main character. Once you pick up this book it's like immersing your head inside a well that shuts you out of the world. Yet when you pull yourself out, you standstill to look around and see how much has gone by and when you do, you never seem to feel you need to catch up because the world he releases you into is so tactile and so real. I am not very keen on sci-fi as I feel sci-fi are better justified in movies because they have the speed and visualizations this genre requires but with Jonathan, you are not reading you are doing whatever his main character is doing and enduring everything that is coming at him. Can't wait to read more of Jonathan's works.
I found it a great sci-fi which not only tells an interesting story but also reflects very serious topics of embracing yourself as who you are and make peace with your past and present, and the struggle of living in a sociaty/system which is biased toward particular group of people... The author embedded deeper meaning in his narrative. I enjoyed reading it!
This book is a amazing read. I was hooked from the very beginning. I loved Tyler's insight on everything he explored. I It's must have to add to any book collection and it will be added to my book collection and my among my favorites. Pop some popcorn and relax to read. It's worth buying and I will be buying it myself very soon. Iler.
What a fun read. It was such a pleasure from start to finish consuming this story and honestly it makes me sad that I can't reread it and experience the same emotions I felt when I read it the first time. The inner struggles, clashes of grandiose and complicated concepts of life and philosphy and the brilliant world building, it was such a thrilling ride from start to finish. Bravo!
