A Stubborn Bride For The Sensitive Rancher A Clean Western Historical Romance
Ember has written another very good story about love and familyand a mail.order bride that is stubborn and a hard worker finding love and happiness with her sensitive husband and putting up with her overbearing and rude motherinlaw, The characters are determined and courageous and the extended epilogue shows happiness and love and life full circle after many years A enjoyable and well written story
This story shows how different people respond to tragedy in their lives. Very good character development for the one with unresolved pain and those that were patient and forgiving. I gave it 4 stars because the conversions seemed a bit unnatural and stilted. However, I did enjoy the suspense and action. I would have liked to known when and how Troy gave Violet her the wedding ring and if the rustlers were caught.
This was a good plot but half the book was redundant conversations between bitter mother-in-law, son and daughter-in-law. Boone, the son was a weak man who wouldn’t stand up for his wife Violet. His mother berated Violet all day everyday and Boone did nothing but a mealy mouth reprimand. I am disappointed in the characters as this writer Ember Pierce has written awesome books before. Not repeating the conversations, this book would be cut in half.
Its not easy to follow. I have no idea what anyone looks like to help my imagination while reading it. Parts are missing, like he bought a ring, but It was never mentioned again! Did he give it to her? Did they ever consummate the marriage? There is no romance in this book. did she go back to the boarding house in the end? Good thing it was free
Violet is all alone in Maine, Boone is in California with an overprotective mother. He decides to put a ad in the paper looking for a bride. Violet writes him and soon they start a relationship. He wants her about his mother. His mother tries to keep them apart and tries harder to break them up. This book is so sweet. I loved it.
