Shaky alliances, deals with the deathless, and an enemy far more powerful than previously believed all weigh heavily on my shoulders.
I’d hidden behind the mask of the Yaga for so long, I’d forgotten what it meant to be human. By claiming the fated mate bond with my Riders, I’ve rediscovered parts of myself I’d buried centuries ago, but I wonder if digging up the dead has its own consequences.
Our mission to unearth the key needed to stop The Devouring leads us deep into the decaying heart of humanity, but our greatest threat may come from within.
As my men and I struggle to overcome the ghosts of our pasts, I pray we can learn to master our collective power—before it consumes us entirely.
I am Vasilisa, and I refuse to accept my fate.

C. Rochelle here! I’m a naughty but sweet, introverted, Aquarius weirdo who believes a sharp sense of humor is the sexiest trait, loves shaking my booty to Prince, and have never met a cheese I didn’t like. Oh, and I write spicy Paranormal/Sci-Fi/Monster Why Choose + MM, MFF & MMF romance with dark, naughty humor and a #loveislove mentality.
This managed to finish everything off nicely so we do get closure. I’ve enjoyed this series mostly because of the unique subject and all of the added folklore. I’ve also appreciated the banter and the connections that were forged between Vasilisa and all of her riders. That’s been my favourite bit.
It’s been an imaginative journey and out of the three books, I think the first was definitely my favourite. I did think that the final showdowns here were slightly anti-climatic though especially after all of the buildup but I still rate the series as a whole and it definitely still has a lot of positives to recommend it.
4.5 stars. This was such a good conclusion to all the ‘woo-woo’ happening in this series.
I’m so glad I picked up this series. It had such good banter and dialogue and such wonderful weirdness.
The plot was big and winding, totally engrossing.
The characters and each of their special relationship with each other were so likable and interesting, I couldn’t get enough of their unique interactions.
The sex was plentiful and varied and imaginative and so passionately loving. Though there were some things hinted at that I wanted to experience with them that we never got around to, unfortunately.
And that ending was really satisfying. Seeing them finally claiming their destinies and ridding the earth of evils and rot, it was beautiful. Though over sooner than I’d have liked. And that epilogue. I enjoyed seeing them happy in the end, but I would’ve enjoyed getting their perspectives more so. And One last round in the ‘fucknest’ if I’m being totally honest.
I loved this. And now I’m sad, because after reading this I just want to pick up another RH, and I don’t have anything in mind yet.
Either way, I’ll definitely be checking out this author’s other books though. Certainly whatever she’s working on next.
Call of the Ride Hi! It’s 9pm and I’ve spent my rainy California day reading this masterpiece. It’s been a journey. You know when you see a cool movie trailer filled with a bunch of celebrities you love? Like for me I was so excited for Oceans 8 cuz a)I love Sandra Bullock and B) I love Anne Hathaway, but there were just so many other amazing people I was so so excited to watch it. Okay so there’s a point to this. I say killer cast for that movie and this book felt like it had a killer cast lol. Like the group of characters in this novel were superb. I loved everyone even the ones I thought I wouldn’t love.
For a year now I’ve been reading C Rochelle and each time I find myself more and more in love with her writing. Her sass, her jokes, the grit in each book, it just gets better each time. This book was so fucking good. Without spoilers I wanna say I’m so incredibly happy with how this series is ending “for now.” I love Vasi and her men and I can’t wait to see what else C Rochelle writes. Vasilisa will forever be in my heart and so will her riders.
This series… I didn’t think it was possible but every book just got better and made me fall further in love with this story. C Rochelle is now firmly on my “auto-buy” and “now obsessed with” lists. The story telling was phenomenal and the way everything tied together was truly magical. These characters were all completely swoon worthy and I loved every single piece of them. Be warned that this book is hot hot hot and will leave you squirming! If you are looking for the whole package - exciting plot, engaging writing, and delectable smut - then you must read this series.
I think the first book of this series was still my favourite. Vasi is a great character, the mythology and the world building is quite unusual for the genre and the three guys are distinctive to one another.
The main trou le I had with the series is, from book 2, once they all got together, of just became very sex heavy and it felt like all the ge soon had gone.
Don't get me wrong, this is still one of the better Reverse Harem books I've read this year, but there's a reason I rarely read the genre anymore, as I just crave more plot and character development than you tend to get typically.
Finally the woo woo, ju ju, Yaga, crotchless panties, Prailine, special horses and all came together with one pretty bow on top.
The violence and murder slowly came to an end. HOWEVER, thankfully there is still a bit more to come bit with Anthia and the twin. 🤭
All of the mysteries were revealed and I was so happy reading about all of them. Rochelle outdid herself truly. All trauma was resolved and dealt with, they began to work as a team to solve all the issues rising.
I want to say that Matthew deserved a much MUCH worse ⚰ but it was done nonetheless. Koshei or whatever his name was made me physically gag with the shit he told Vasi. To the point I had tears in my eyes trying not to cry because that man had seriously fucking issues. 🤢🤢🤢
The sad part is there are men like Koshei and...they all deserve eradicating. The smut was good as usual, I love that the aspect of Vasi being behind on the times was explored, along with the powers. Everything was tied together so nicely, it lulled my heart into happiness.
Them proclaiming their love for each other was fucking sickeningly sweet AND THERE WAS DVP!!!! Like YOOOO WHAT?????? Impressive really.
I love Asa being a bottom who loved pain. The combination of the cultures with how well they were explained was excellently executed. This book won't be everyone's cup of tea but Reverse Harem's have my heart and soul and this will be in my top books for the year! 🥳🥳🎉
WOW, what an amazing journey. From beginning to end this series was pure perfection. I am sad to see these characters go but so glad I was along for the ride, and what a ride it was. Vasi’s growth throughout the series was something to behold. Watching her grow and accept everything and watching her strength blossom and realize she doesn’t have to only rely on herself. Gather strength from those around her that care about her. While this author has created this beautiful world and some of the most amazing characters no story would be complete without the amount of heat and pure unadulterated hotness that this author brings. This is some of the best $ex giving you all the kitty butterflies you could possibly handle. All the feels *fans self* I couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to Vasi and her guys story. *chefs Kiss*
For all the women behaving badly. You should keep doing that. - @c.rochelle_author
Ok first THANK YOU so freaking much for this arc! I’m obsessed with @c.rochelle_author in general but her characters are just * chefs kiss* the perfect slice of Spartak cake 😜 iykyk
Anyways back to the book…C really took me on a ride with Vasi and her men! After the cliffy from book 2 I was scared to go into the book! It was a fun, wild, and crazy ride from start to finish though! I experienced all the emotions with this book and so did the characters that don’t “do” emotions 😂 ok enough I don’t want to spoil things so go read this series IMMEDIATELY and then come talk to me about it! Ohh and just so you know this spice in this series is 🥵🔥sooo sooo good!
Also on a funny note I finished this book 2 minutes before work today! 😂 it was a close one! 😂
As person from slavic country I greatly appreciated this series. Addition of slavic folkrole creatures was huge plus. Overall Vasilisa as a main character was very likeable and I enjoyed relationship development between Yaga and her Riders :d
This book was, ironically enough, a wild ride. The final chapter in the story of Vasilisa and her Riders, this book simultaneously closes most of the loose ends and introduces so much to the world and the relationship of our polyamorous quad.
First of all, this book was just as funny and irreverent at times as the other books. There were so many one-liners and jokes I chuckled at. At the same time, this book was a lot more emotional I felt, and not always for the better. There were a lot of bursts and spurts of intense emotion that didn’t feel adequately resolved to me. They just kind of ended. This made some of the character growth and relationship growth feel a little shallow.
Secondly, the plotline in this book got so convoluted and there were so many new characters introduced. I think some of the new people were introduced fairly well, others seemed like unnecessary plot devices. The quest FMC and her boys go on to resolve the plot is anything but linear, and while it was fun to read about all these little sidequests, it made the book drag a little. I’m not going to go into the powers or anything connected to them because honestly they’re a little confusing, and never fully explained it feels like. That said, the villains getting their comeuppance fell a little flat for me. They both seemed so anticlimactic, and all the damage the caused seemed conveniently pawned off on other characters to fix. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I wish we’d gotten a bit more of a fight out of either BBEG.
Thirdly, the spice. It was….okay in this one. I appreciate that, as the plot picked up, the spice got shorter so as not to interrupt the flow of the story. As such, it was a nice addition peppered throughout. There wasn’t anything super out there or special. I am a little disappointed we didn’t get to see some of the things the characters kept thinking about become reality, but maybe it’s in the extra content. I’ll be reading that next.
All in all, a decent end to the series. I’m not mad at it.
Well..... That was an unbelievable 24 hours!! (Not straight because, like sleep!!) But in 24 hours I have done all 3 books in this series and I can only say YOU NEED TO READ THEM.
The folklore and magic interwoven into these books was epic. Getting to learn about other histories and tales really, for me, made the story pop. Baba Yaga and her riders added the cherry on to an already awesome cake. I fell in love with all 3 of her men, and honestly couldn't pick out just one, and she was a magical bada$$. The cliff-hangers at each of the books made me soooo happy that I had them all to read back to back, I honestly do t know how I would have coped otherwise. This final book kept up the pace from the last 2 and them built even more drama! I was soooo happy to see the comeuppance to one certain character and sooooo happy that his death was a pop in the ether rather than a bang. He didn't deserve a huge death as long as he was gone!! Seeing her Riders come into their powers and finally access their full potential WOW!! Nox, Tan and Asa will be among my favourites for a long time to come. Learning back stories and having everything come to an almighty head made my heart happy! I knew I was going to enjoy this ride, I just didn't realise it'd be over so quickly, and by this I mean I literally couldn't put any of the books down. I had to know what happens!! As for the spice 😏😏😏😏 well.................. 🥵🥵🥵🥵 it was on another level!! I knew there was a reason I liked Stonehenge 😉. I loved all the books in this series, but this last one really sealed it, it was such a brilliant way to end the series, whilst still leaving you hungering for more. Thank you C Rochelle for another set of books that sucked me in! I think I might be a little in love with you 😂
“How long has it been since someone roughed up your tail feathers, little swan?”
“And what about you? Since when did you know Tan was destined to be yours?” My Beautiful Sun’s pale blue eyes met mine, searching for something I hope he could plainly see as he solemnly replied, “Always.”
This is the last book of The Yaga’s Riders Trilogy. I’m going to be a bit lazy with my review and just tell you what I thought about this whole trilogy. I mean it is 2 am in the morning, but I was determined with completing this book in November. Technically it’s December now but it’s finnnnee because I haven’t gone to sleep yet.
I enjoyed this trilogy. I picked up the first book when I was feeling down, I can’t remember what I was upset about, but it did cheer me up! I wanted something dirty birdie and I wanted to try something new. I don’t read a whole lot of “sinful” literature. Before I read this trilogy, the dirtiest book I had read was A Court to Silver Flames. So that is how clean bean I have been. Well, until now. It’s a fantasy, dark, witchy, and funny book, and had some emotions in there as well. When I would talk to my husband about this book, I would call it “Dirty Witch Bitch Book”. It was my first MMF, MM romance, and RH. Soooo this was most definitely different than my norm.
I love the darkness in this book and love the Gods’ situation. “My Darkest Midnight” was my favorite title given to one of the characters. Ooh, I just loved that! The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is that I’m too pruned for this book, but I took a chance, and I liked it! I will be reading more C. Rochelle books. I highly recommend this! It was a fun ride! If you’re not a prune, like me, you should definitely give it a chance. Thank you, C. Rochelle, for writing this. I love it when people can make me laugh with dirty jokes.
The momentum slowed down quite a bit through the 2nd book to the end of this book. The ending was anti climatic.
The riddle seemed to really take a back seat to everyone figuring out their family drama. They barely sat around and thought about it (or Googled it, or wrote it down, or researched anything about it). I understand that "intuition" was a big part of their powers, but that combined with "fate" seemed to be too easy. I think it's so wild that they waited until the water was collected and they were at the heel stone, right before the solstice, before they figured anything out.
I did not like Tan's character as much here as well. I cringed at his multitude of sex jokes. In fact, there were hardly lines of dialogue where he DIDN'T make sex jokes.
It was interesting to see them in London, but I also would have been delighted to see some homey, daily life scenes back in the 2nd book. It seems that Vasi has a lot of take care of (sacred forest, beekeeping, horses, foraging, etc.) on top of her mediator role. Some of the spooky witchiness from the first book was cut down a lot too.
Still glad to see a tidy ending to this series. It seems like Anthia was being set up for a future series- I wasn't overly thrilled with her character in this book (bratty and unsupportive) but it would be cool to see a new series with some cameos from this current series.
Overall I think this series touches on often overlooked stories and gave us some relief from the typical Grimm fairytale retellings.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Note: Posting a full series review here for now, might update with individual book reviews later — I think I’ll download the KU versions so I can go through and highlight quotes at some point because I loved so many lines but listening to the audio I couldn’t save them. 🥲
It’s no secret C. Rochelle is one of my favorite authors, this was her last published work that I hadn’t devoured because I was waiting to afford the audiobooks — which was brilliant on my part because these are FIRE on audio. (5/5 🎧 highly recommend the audiobook version)
C. has this incredible talent for balancing mindblowingly filthy smut and hilarious witty banter with high-stakes, face-paced, and at times, gut-wrenching plot. “Rise of the Witch” pulls us into the story at a breakneck pace, “A Witch Out of Time” tears out our hearts, and then “Call of the Ride” mends our collective broken souls with a most satisfying conclusion. I’m really glad I was able to pick them up one after the other because the cliffies were STEEP. 😅
I will say the more unique aspects of the spicy scenes aren’t for the faint of heart but I f*cking loved that crazy vajujuvoodoo 😂 Tan and his lecherous mouth were absolutely my favorite, but Asa was a very close second with his gloriously submissive ways 🥵
Using my IG format:
🌶 Spice (K!nk & Variety of scenes): 4/5 💦 Steam (Detail & amount of scenes): 5/5 💕 Romance (relationship dynamics): 5/5 🌱 Character Growth/Arc: 5/5+ 📖 Plot: 5/5+ 🏳️🌈♿️ Inclusivity: 3/5 — WhyChoose with M/M, racially diverse characters ⭐️ 5/5 Stars, would recommend
This was insane. I bought it on impulse because it was cheap for a trilogy and the concept of "Baba Yaga reverse harem romance" was hilarious to me and promised a silly, goofy time. I was wrong. Not that it would be a good time- it absolutely was - but because this series WRECKED ME. I cried. I screamed. I giggled and kicked my feet. I stress-sweated. I DM'd the author to tell her I hate her, then again to tell her I love her, then one final time to tell her I need a thousand more stories about these characters, please.
Definitely check the CWs at the front of the book (or of each book, if you're reading them separately); if I had gone in blind, I could see how a LOT of the content in here would have been really distressing and taken me out of the story. But since I went in prepared (one of my favourite things about C Rochelle is the care and detail with which she writes CWs), I knew what to expect (in this regard ONLY - every single other plot twist succeeded in shocking me), and was able to stay invested in the story without compromising my emotional wellbeing.
The short version of my review is: Read this. Buy the entire trilogy at once, because you won't be able to put it down anyway. Enjoy the roller coaster of love and hate for C Rochelle, and the roller coaster of Vasi, Nox, Taneer and Asa's relationships. Prepare yourself to cry profusely when its over. If you're me, you'll also fall into a rabbit hole of hyper-fixation of Slavic folklore.
This is a profound and breathtaking story of love, lust, found family, and power that can only be generated by reclaiming and rewriting the narrative of your life.
I’m not sure how to feel right now after finishing COTR. I’m sad that it ended I feel like I could read C Rochelle’s books and Vasi and her guys story forever.
Vasi is hands down amazing. She’s got it all sass, bravery, strength, compassion she’s truly amazing and the world and characters that C.Rochelle has created is nothing of remarkable. In this series we’ve seen trauma, sadness, strength and courage, holy hotness and a whole lot of s3x but also a story and world develop. The characters continue to grow and transform and the story honestly keeps you at the edge of your seat through every start, every finish *haha* and every cliffhanger. I think the feels of this story has kept me on one for sure rollercoaster. Vasi and her guys have been through it let’s be honest, but have come out stronger for it. I laughed especially at things like dildo domain and the presents haha. But it’s what we’ve come to love and appreciate from Vasi and her men, her riders.
I honestly can’t wait to C Rochelle creates next if it’s anything like this book and series and all of her books she’s going to rule the world.
Seriously though I am devastated that it finished but that ending was glorious and they deserved it. *Gets all emotional*. Thank you for sharing your stories with the world, you may not know this but you change lives, giving people something to immerse themselves in.
Some might think this is the end, but I can see so much potential and so many different spin offs of this. All the secondary characters were entertaining and amazing and I can see me devouring them with fun cameos from our favorite previous characters (including Noxy)…Now for my review:
WHAT!!! I am royally speechless I was secretly hoping for a random cliff hanger for someone that would make me want to scream. However, this did not happen. What did happen was a bumpy ride because of how book 2 ended (which I was secretly ok with, but I never claimed to be nice). The dynamics with Vasi and her men continued to grow which I thoroughly enjoyed. You get some hilarious moments that made you laugh out loud, sexy moments that were out of this world delicious (get a spare pair of panties), and of course drama that made you ache. This book really had it all...and in all honesty so did the series. This might not be one that people think this is one for the re-read sextion every year...but let me tell you it is worth doing another read when you want something different and amazing. When you finally get around to it, you will pick up on more things you never knew you missed out on.
Let me just say bring on the special va ju ju voodoo because I will put on my big girl panties and read it all day long! I cannot wait to hear it on audio, so stay tuned for another wild ride.
The last book in this brilliant trilogy has me little sad. Yes I’ll be able to visit the hut on legs whenever I want, but I won’t have that trepidation as I open the book for the first time. I won’t be able to hold my breath and peek between my fingers as Vasili and her three guardians battle the forces of evil. I won’t wonder if they will ever succeed again!
The plot was brilliant, it tied up loose ends without become too predictable. It also gave us a glimpse and small hope that we could see our witchy witch and her riders again in another adventure (might not be them, but someone associated with them)
Midnight Sun, Brightest Dawn and Darkest Night were just brilliant hero’s, still giving us moments of hilarity and sadness. And our heroine Vasilia was just such a great character, strong and grumpy. And by the end of the book, totally a bada$$ and worthy of the title “BabaYaga”
I’d recommend this book all day long, but you definitely need to read books one and two, otherwise you won’t know what is going on. And you’ll probably wonder at all the weird vernacular the group uses.
Be prepared for a few surprises, be prepared for lots of smexy times. And be prepared to fall in love with these amazing characters and story.
Holy cats and bats! I love, love, love this book. This whole trilogy has been amazing. It's truly been a wild ride, whether on a horse, a river, or through the veil. Ooh, speaking of rides, I finally got to see Baba Yaga fly her mortar and pestle. I'm thoroughly satisfied with how things worked out, and it looks like my favorite swan shifter is going to have her own book.
It was interesting to visit London, as well as some places we have seen before. I'm curious how much of Vasilisa, Nox, Asa, and Taneer will be in the spin-off.
I also have to shout out about the glossary that has been at the end of each book. It's jogged my memory, along with the story. I've refreshed a little of my Russian, and dusted off some souvenirs. I've made some tea - chai, in Russian - and cooked some pelmeni.
My only complaint is a sentence with a hurtful mention of gypsies. Sadly, this is one of the reasons why I only visit Europe, but I would never want to live there.
I'm rather sad that this is over. The only saving grace is c. Rochelle well and truly did the finale justice!
Now I do love the boys don't get me wrong, but Vasi is hands down my fave character of this series. Seeing her come to realise that her strength comes not from what she's been through but inherently part of being female is incredibly empowering. I loved seeing her accept that to lean on others strengths and give into the compromises that come with it doesn't take away from who you are but bolsters it into something new.
The character growth has been incredible throughout this series and it all comes together in this final book beautifully. There's plenty of action and that incredible wit that always has me giggling
C. Rochelle wove a beautiful world through the first couple of books and this very much carried on. I knew very little of any of the folklaw or many of the settings before starting the first book but this series has sent me right down a rabbit hole of research. As a londoner I really enjoyed the bits that happened here. Vasi in Camden was fantastic.
Of course it wouldn't be complete without the hella hot steam. The very best sammiches in the world can be found here 😁😁 add in some power dynamics, a python, a couple of kinks and one or two toys and it's like a little wish list come true!
I really hope we get more from this world in the future, there's some side characters I'm dying to hear more about!!
I can’t even begin to explain how PERFECTLY this series was wrapped up with Call of the Ride!! Some authors really struggle with the last book in a series and everything is just jumbled together really quickly. This is NOT, I repeat, NOT the case with C. Rochelle!!! She continued to give us tons of awesome history snippets that had me looking up further details on Google and each character was given the perfect amount of time to shine. I laughed my backside off, screamed at my kindle, and clapped my hands like a crazy lady! I’m not gonna lie though, towards the end of the book, I was a little nervous that we were gonna get another massive cliffy somehow but everything came together so naturally by the last page and there’s nothing at all that I would’ve wanted to see written differently……other than NEVER having the story end of course…..which, maybe it never will????
My heart is both full and broken. I’m so sad that this series is over. I loved the journey with Vasi and her riders and while I know it had to end eventually, I just wasn’t ready. The character growth throughout the series was phenomenal but this book in particular yielded the most spectacular personal grown and realizations for each character. C. Rochelle pulled no stops when in came to answering questions from the earlier books and bringing in new twists to keep readers on their toes. Everything came to an explosive head at the end that made my heart race even after the book was finished. The world building in this series never failed to amaze me and this book was no exception. The imagery mentioned throughout the book made you feel like you were there. This book was sexy, emotional, funny and everything I could have asked for when it came to the ending of such an amazing series. While Vasi, Nox, Tan and Asa’s story may be over, it’s definitely one I will return to read again.
It happened, the ending has arrived, what to do with my life. Well for starters we have the answers and who knew, well not me for sure, although I have to say I read books at the moment and don't look for the answers while reading so I comes when it comes, but still it came as a surprise to learn about the heritage.
I love how strong vasi has become and not in strength because she was already kickass but in showing her emotions and bending and sharing. Same goes for my man Nox, who got punched multiple times in this series, and poor Asa who just didn't know what to do with himself. Even our Tan was broken, but in the end. It all came together, was the killing of daddy dearest a bit short and anticlimactic yes but necessary so all good.
I hope to see Anthia soon ! I have a feeling there's a lot to figure out about miss swanlady.
This series ladies and gents is a must for everyone into RH and PNR do it.
OMG! The conclusion to this fantastic series was AMAZING. It is filled with action, suspense, mystery, crass jokes (which were hilarious), grittiness and all kinds of titillating smutty moments that I could not get enough of. Vasi and her Riders continue to take us on one hell of a crazy and wild adventure that keeps us turning the pages quickly just to see what other trouble these four get themselves into. It was phenomenal from start to finish and I hated to close my book at the end and know that the story was done.
Brilliantly written with outstanding imagery, phenomenal characters, and a storyline that is dark, gritty, violent, hilarious, entertaining and highly erotic. I loved every smutty and utterly delicious second of it!
“For all the women behaving badly. You should keep doing that.” – C. Rochelle
The ‘final’ book of the Yaga’s Riders was…AMAZING! It was such a beautiful (spicy) journey that tied up so many pieces while introducing you to new key players. I’m sad that this main story is ‘over’ and I freaking cannot wait for all the treats C. Rochelle is going to give us. She needs to make up for being a brat with her cliffhangers and the internal cliffhangers and then the teasers in the past lol. (Love you!)
Now the spice… Oh the spice! I found my self re-reading certain scenes a few too many times (depending who I’m telling this to) 🥵🔥 I will never get enough of the angry python, our perfect good boy, and then our dirty dirt rider. I seriously never want this series to end! Give me 50 of these books and I would still want more.
C. Rochelle, I love you so freaking much. Thank you for blessing my dark heart with this series and these characters!
