I just finished ‘The Reaper’s Book’ by Stephanie Hudson! This is the third book in the YA 'Afterlife Academy' series (follows the Afterlife Saga)… and I have to say IT WAS AMAZING!!! 🤩🤩🤩

Ok first off, I’m not a third person POV gal. Years ago I read books in the third person, but these days, I LOVE a book in first person POV. I totally get why authors write in the third person though. I understand the advantages. But for me, I like to forget I’m holding a book while I’m reading. And first person POV really does that for me. I also have to admit, that yes, the illustrations in all of the Academy books are truly exceptional. However, it wasn’t until THIS book that I was finally excited about them actually being in the book. Don’t get me wrong. They are beautiful. But in the previous books they reminded me I was holding a book. And again, I like to forget I have a book in my hands! However, in this book… they just added MAGIC to the book! They were so impactful and they really accentuated the story! I JUST LOVED THEM! 💜💜💜

Ok to the really good stuff! 😁😁😁

This book has incredible movement! I never expected it to go all the places it went! First off, it started RIGHT where Book 2 left off! I am a BIG FAN of that folks! 🙌 Nothing worse than having a cliffhanger at the end of one book and then the next book start after a time-lapse. So I loved loved loved that we went straight into the family drama and got immediate answers to the big WHYs. Why was Theo an orphan? Why did his parents never find him? Why didn’t they tell him who he was? Why were they still keeping it from him? YES folks! Answers are given! Then… oh my goodness I couldn’t believe this 😲… I had been reading all the Academy books hoping 🙏& wishing 🤞 for that moment when Ella meets Jared. And oh boy oh boy oh boy! We get it! 🥳🥳🥳

But not only do we GET THAT amazing scene from Theo’s & Amelia’s perspective, we get the follow-up scene! 😲 What scene may that be do you ask?! Maybe a certain scene with our hunky Vampire King and his rescue of his very own chosen! 🙌 The Transfusion Saga gave us a peak at this scene… but now we get it from Theo’s perspective! And let me tell you, it was worth the wait! My heart was so full & happy at this point and I thought surely, that’s it for this book! We couldn’t possibly get any more greatness, right??? I mean we also got to see Theo be a complete prince bada$s!! 🤺 Well ladies & gents, I couldn’t be more wrong! Whereas Book 2 left us with a parental cliffhanger for a certain heroic youngster, we get another shocker folks! (Ok so maybe the writing was on the wall … in Japanese teeheehee 😜... but talk about a great way to end the book!) And Stephanie Hudson, if you are reading this… you just added another alpha male to my hot 🔥 list. DID NOT EXPECT TO LOVE A REAPER! I have no idea he was meant to be hot… but he was hot 🔥🔥🔥! You hit another homerun girl!

So needless to say, I loved this book! BUT!!! I really think this book was extra incredible because of being invested in both Afterlife and Transfusion characters & scenes. It had that certain nostalgia to it that you get when you feel like your connected to a character and then you are along for the ride during their greatest achievements! One of those moments where your rooting 🙌, cheering 👏, and fist pumping 👊 the air saying… atta boy!!

And with that…. Stephanie Hudson…. Atta Girl!!! 💪

I just got to say that these Academy books are just getting better and better.

To say i though these books might of been a bit too tame and ya for me to read, well i was totally wrong in this assumption as these books have blown me away with the story line that Stephanie is so good at again and again.

I am so loving following these young supernaturals and discovering the secrets that will have you shocked and how they are coping with what they have inside them. We are getting to here more about what happened to these five characters and hoping that they will get to meet there parents soon and who they will be. The illustrations that Caroline does are just superb yet again.

As like the first two books this ends on a cliff hanger, damn you Steph i need the next book to find out more from these guys and what is going to be happening to them next. Brilliant again from this talented author.

Awesome series you just can't put down, you'll love it, I did

I am so glue to these books. They take me to another universe where ife doesn't exactly end at death. I know if I were in the story I would want to be one of Dravens family. I would definitely recommend these books of yours to everyone as they are really good. I almost believe that the story of Lucian background could have been real, well not all of it but some of it. As for this book I just read I am glad that Theo accepted his parents. To be a Draven would be awesome for anybody. I remember Amelia being kidnapped. But I will have to back and read the other books to see it again. I'm thinking the next book will be about Ena as she has found her father and is so awesome. I look forward to finding out who the parents of the others are as well. I love these books you have written. The afterlife saga is like no other book I have ever read. I will continue reading them until the series ends. Thank you

Great Books but:

I have read almost all of Stephanie Hudson's books, and they are very well done, however , the only way , is through. What I mean is they can be very frustrating with some the bad decisions made. For instance , it's clear the kings keep way to many HARMFUL secrets. All of her books make that painfully clear to those they love. As far as the young adults coming into their own, this book shows what I'm saying, and why Amelia has suffered, along with her Mother for SECRETS, and lies by the very same Dominic Draven.
That being said, she does well bringing all the reasons why fate chose the events, so keep reading ALL of her books. Start from the beginning.

Typical stephanie, thrilling and amazing

What can I say, if you have ever read one of her books then you know exactly what to expect. A roller coaster ride of emotions and as the characters cross over between books, a chance to keep up with the loves of my life... yes, I am greedy. Made for a younger audience to appreciate but being an (ahem) slightly, older woman, can assure you, you will still love these books.
I would love to live in the covers of her books, they are really that good. 😍

Teenage Angst

This is a very touching and moving story. You want so much for these kids to find themselves, their first loves, their parents but realize it can't all happen at once. I am happy that Theo has found his family but there is a long way to go before it is complete. Ending like it did was a shocker but not totally unexpected if you think about it. Now we have a long way to go to get the other kids with their families. Can't wait but I'll have to!

Another amazing book by Stephaine Hudson and amazing pictures by Caroline Fairbairn. The story follows the 5 young supernaturals where some secrets are revealed that leaves you in shock while others have you wanting to know more. It was an interesting story that leaves you on a cliff hanger what I really liked about this is that it doesn't just follow Theo but follows all 5 teenagers. Can not wait for the next book

Enjoy immensely!!

These three books were great and informative of background of Afterlife characters. Read the main series several years ago and seeing the extensions of that saga is very exciting. Will wait patiently for the next books in this series and HellBeast. Have to finish Transfusion yet. I get overwhelmed sometimes and are back reading other genres for awhile. But I always come back. Well done Stephanie and Caroline, well done!

Just as in other "Afterlife" stories, secrets can be dangerous and harmful, hurtful. And darn those Fates and their reasonings! The characters and storylines continue to be intriguing in this young adult series that is also giving some missing pieces to readers of the other series by this author. keep 'em coming!

Badass

To quote Zane it was definitely badass! Yes it repeats some of the same details just in a different person's prospective, makes sense for the reason that each series can stand alone, even read out of order minus the original Afterlife. With out question, hands down a must read.

Keeps Getting Better

The Reaper's Book, Afterlife Academy book 3 continues the story of the teens. Theo takes on more of his role as leader and hero. The other teens begin to understand their supernatural sides more. Together they are amazing and hopefully unstoppable. Time Will tell.

Loved this book as have read about certain parts of it in the Transfusion series, so enjoyed that part. Was a bit disappointed that it was a "to be continued" book, because I'm impatient and wanted to know how it all ends. Guess Book 4 is something to look forward to!

Good follow on story in the series but I'm a little disappointed that we've been left with yet more questions than answers. I feel the need to speed up the story but it could be because I'm keen to see what happens.
