H3RO #5

Idol Reputation

Rate this book
There are worse things than secret relationships.

My biggest fear was that my relationship with H3RO would not only destroy their careers and reputation, but it would negatively impact Atlantis Entertainment and everyone who worked there. Even though my professional instinct told me to keep my distance, I listened to my heart.

In the end, it wasn't our relationship that jeopardized everything.

It was Lee Sejin's.

When Ruby, a popular idol from Divine9 turns up at my office to tell me she is pregnant and that my demon-spawn half-brother is the father, I knew that we were about to face a huge problem. My only option is to somehow keep it from leaking to the public. Unfortunately it’s not the only secret Sejin’s been hiding. Sejin’s illegal activities could destroy not only H3RO’s career but that of every idol and employee at Atlantis Entertainment.

Why do we have to protect the person who tried to hurt us?

** IDOL REPUTATION is a full-length novel. There are steamy scenes and super-hot Korean idols which Holly doesn't need to choose between. This is the fifth book in this series and you will need to have read the previous book to understand this one. This book ends on a cliff-hanger. **

Ji Soo Lee is the Korean name of this Texan Korean-American author. She spends most of her days lost in a K-Pop haze, which inspired her to start writing stories about her idols at Atlantis Entertainment.

Under the name Ji Soo Lee, you will find YA contemporary romances, with romance levels like a K-Drama.

Under J. S. Lee, Ji Soo writes steamier stories, mainly of Reverse Harems.

I Give this Book a 4-4.5/5 Star Rating, Listing as 4.

Cliffhanger(?): Absolutely!! 😍 Seriously, What a Cliffhanger!
Relationship Type: RH> Reverse Harem: MFMMMMM
Heat: 3.5-4ish/5, there isn’t much heat in this but the storyline is waaay more important.
Romance: 3.5/5
Pacing: Mid-Fast, I read this quite fast actually, but I think it’s mainly cause I know this series and characters and the storyline is quite engaging.
Drama: 3.5-4/5
Suspense: 3.5-4/5

No Spoilers!

The reason why the rating overall is higher than the rating per category is because this is a very important storyline to the series, make sure that you’ve read the H3ro series from the beginning since this is Book 5 after all, don’t jump into this series without knowing everything that happened in the previous one of this series.

Man, I haven’t read this series nor Universe in quite a while and it always amazes me on how I can immediately recollect everything from this series and alternate series in this universe. That’s how much I love this series as well it being incredibly unique. When I read this series it’s like you’re being welcomed back with open arms and it’s such a smooth transition getting right back into this universe ☺️
I have yet to find another series that can match this level of detail in the K-Pop world.
Holly, Tae, Dante, Nate, Minhyuk, Kyun and Jun are one of my absolute favorite harems and I’m so glad I’m able to read them again, they’re so addictive and their lives feel so real, I can’t wait to read Book 6 to see what happens next!

All right, finally got to book 5. So let's dive right in, yes?

POV: First person
POV Character(s): Holly Lee
Verb Tense: Past
Trigger Warnings: assault, threats/bullying
Spice Level: probably a 3 or so, note that this book does have a MFM scene
Content Warning: reverse harem, pregnancy (not the FMC)

This book picked up where the last one left off, which was nice since book 4 did a time skip I didn't appreciate.

I actually am reviewing this a bit late, so I'm having trouble remembering all the details. Plus my brain is a bit fuzzy of late, anyway. So I'll try to pull it together and share the things that stood out to me most.

The last book left off with a huge reveal, and we jumped into this one with Holly having to cope with news that could hurt Atlantis. She's furious with Sejin and rightfully so, but let's be honest, Sejin's always deserving of wrath because of how he's treated both Holly and H3RO.

This comes on the heels of Holly's attempts to help Kyun reunite with his father only to have to blackmail the man into leaving South Korea because he was only interested in using Kyun for his money.

Seriously... Holly needs a therapist and a ton of acid reflux medication. It's kind of funny to me how often she notes having a stabbing pain in her stomach. Clearly homegirl is stressed out and needs to relax, but she just keeps going like the Energizer Bunny because she's the Chairwoman and K-pop stops for no one.

I'm certainly curious how this series will wrap up in book 6, especially given how Sejin has behaved throughout and his clear disdain for Holly becoming actual violence toward her in this book. He's been the villain all along, and his comeuppance can't come fast enough for me. The story has highlighted how the culture of both South Korea and of K-pop companies focuses on saving face rather than pursuing justice, and it's emphasized by Woobin's inability to let his son face the consequences for his own actions without just finding ways to hush things up, even if it means hushing up his daughter.

So maybe the next book will have Woobin finally come to terms with Sejin's truly evil side and make him choose. I'm pretty sure I called this back in book 1 or 2 in my review there, but as expected, Woobin hasn't chosen to act against Sejin until it comes down to saving Sejin or saving Atlantis. I called it. It was never going to be about helping Holly deal with the hatred she was receiving. It was never going to be about H3RO either. So yeah... typical.

The story has been fairly solid so far. It's not just smut for the sake of smut. The plot is wild and totally unbelievable for the real world, of course, but hey, it's fantasy. It's fun and ridiculous, and I can appreciate it for not taking itself too seriously.

I'll be excited to see how the series winds up in the last book!

I was so excited to read this book. It seemed like fate that this book should come up as an ARC for me as I had just preordered this a couple days ago. You can bet I was happy to pounce at the opportunity to read this and see how the story is progressing. All the K-Pop books by Ji Soo Lee have been a pleasure to read and this one was no exception.
I love how this book has its own world. Throughout all the books Atlantis and its stars all talk to one another and are even great friends with each other. This gives the story so much more depth and intrigue. I love to hear about the other characters, especially Onyx, and it just immerses the reader so well into the story.
Starting off this book just immediately brings out the drama, there is no slow build up here. You are just drawn in through each chapter wanting to know what is going to happen next and wonder how exactly Holly is going to deal with the drama this time. It is without a doubt a page turner of a book. The characters are all so diverse as well and I love that Ji Soo has made each one of them so unique.
the spiciness of the book is great. It is something that is done in good degrees. There isn't to much and based on what has happened previously when it does happen it is not unbelievable. Plus with the descriptiveness of everything going down you are able to imagine everything with clarity. It is not annoying either like in some other books, like it just being there to be there.
Overall, this is a wonderful book and with that ending you can bet that I am just desperately waiting for the sixth and final book of this series. (Side note that this book was so good I finished it in one sitting and in less then a day). I recommend this book to you if you like to read books with drama, romance, well spaced spice and K-Pop. And if you like this series you can look into more of Ji Soo Lee's work cause even if you don't like spice but want everything else she offers that as well.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

It’s been a hot minute since we last encountered H3RO in Idol Threats, so I had to refresh my memory with my last review.

In Idol Threats, I wrote that it felt like a filler book. A little smidge of deja vu, but I felt the same way with Idol Reputation. The main plot is moving along with Holly’s evil half brother, but her relationship with the guys feels a little stagnant.

The steam (whenever it happened, because Holly is so busy) was still prevalent and I love the connection she’s made with the guys. I just wish we had more time with them, but I know the next book will be able to bring it all together.

Idol Reputation was a quick and fast-paced read and I honestly can’t wait to see how it all plays out. I’m hooked!

The suspense amped up in this one as Holly gets serious about exposing Sejin. I love how the guys won't let her hide from them. They push themselves right on in to whatever she's attempting to settle herself. Dante really took the initiative here to bond with her, and I hope to see more time with Minhyuk, as he feels like he's the least developed relationship. I'm ready to watch Holly and H3RO get their HEA and take down Sejin once and for all in the final book.

I finally read this book and a lot had happened. Damn, Sejin is an asshole. Holly is a strong independent woman. I love how different the guys are, but some of them I have a problem with, especially the ones who don’t know how to listen and do not respect her boundaries; that was off for me. But I’m glad that the characters went to China and performed on a big stage. The cliffhanger! Oh my god. I need to read the next one. Thank you, Jisoo💕

This one took a while because.. it wasn't super interesting, and I kept finding other things to read instead.

There were some fun moments... but it is a lot more focused on the over arching plot than the previous books (aka less spice) and I find the plot kind of meh. Plus the mem make Holly's life necessarily harder in the name of wanting to protect her and it's very annoying.

Love this series and this book didn't disappoint although the cliff hanger means I will now be unable to stop thinking about it until the next book comes out!

Idol Reputation picks up exactly where Idol Threats left off, with Holly in the midst of damage control, only to be faced with an even bigger problem. Of course, all of her problems at Atlantis can be traced back to her half-brother, Seijin, who is the absolute worst! I can't say what he's done now, because spoilers. But he is up to no good, and it'll not only ruin his life, but probably also completely sink the company if it were to come to light. And it must, because Holly just can't let this one slide.

Idol Reputation is nonstop drama! It's my least favorite of the series, but that isn't really saying much, since it's still really good. The focus was just a lot on Holly trying to figure out what to do with this Seijin mess, and not enough on her and her boys. There's definitely some fun, sexy times with some of the guys. But for the most part, it's Holly trying to keep them away from this mess (and her), and ultimately failing, because those boys are stubbornly loyal to her!

The author really knows how to ramp up the intensity for a killer cliffhanger! I didn't see that one coming! What the heck is Holly suppose to do now?!
