➕ What I liked :

Curvy/full-figured heroine. 👍

A confident curvy/full-figured heroine.👏👍

Good romantic build up and chemistry.

Interesting main characters.

Interesting side characters.

Good and interesting plot.

No biological children by end of book.
(But possibly a adoption in the future?)

Sweet moments.

Funny moments.

Not a aristocrat hero.

A hero that has diverse heritage.

A hero that is aware of his emotions and does not repress them… he is also not ashamed to cry in front of the heroine.

Good steam.

Adventure.

Is set mostly at sea.

Enemies to lovers.

The book cover.

➖ What I disliked:

The hero was a little bit over the top mean/rude to the heroine in the beginning of the book… It is a enemies to lovers story… but it still felt a little bit too over the top especially for a historical romance.

Formulaic in the character description/visual appearance/character choice when it comes to the hero… he is big/hulking and tall and muscular… the heroine is plump/full-figured and short… the big size/height difference is also harped on too much.

The ending with the disloyal and selfish/irresponsible friend of the hero was a little too cliché.

Sensitive issues are written/handled in a rather tactless/thoughtless and dismissive way.
(Slavery, stillbirth, infertility, death of spouse, infidelity etc.)

Some little inconsistencies.
(The heroes age among other things.)

Will his revenge still hold on when love finds a way back into his heart …

I did not know what to expect for Rosalind’s story, I can’t say she was the unconventional miss in the family as they deserve all this title and Gracie the youngest is the wildest of them all.
Yet here we are with Rosalind boarding for the adventure of her life.
I love a heroine who does not meet the standards, not fashionly my thin, nor incredibly clever nor manly strong. She is just herself, a young woman who takes her destiny in hand, accepts herself as she is and tries her luck as an openly declared stowaway.
In her naivety, as who would imagine the worst, she thought it would be a simple cruise of a few weeks before her real adventure begins.
Yet from the beginning she is unsettled by the man who’s connection she used to walk on board. As time passes, she demonstrates she is no missish woman, she stands her ground, she fights back, if not with her fists, with her brain and her resilience.
Philip has seen his view of life when he learned he had a twin sister, one with a different skin color than his, it changed his view of so many thing, and in many ways altered his path. But now he is on a mission, he is looking for blood, to get his revenge on the man who stole everything from him. So when he discovered the free-rider who moved deliberately into one of his ship’s cabins, he unleashes his ire. Only to be shamed right after by his sister for his overwhelming reaction as the miss proposed to pay for her passage. Yet he needs no distraction, even less from a delicious curvy hoyden who seems to fill his dreams and brings chaos in her wake.

What a delicious treat this book was, a flavorful adventure with tempest, lost puppy, feisty cabin boys, pirates, sensuality, loss and joy.
A delight which kept me into the wee hours of the night as I could not put down until I knew what awaited Rosalind, Philip and his twin sister Cherry at the end of the journey, or maybe the beginning of a new one.
The author deals with life’s hardships, never cuddling her heroes, letting them face their destiny and make their choices with their eyes and heart open. A beautiful tale of life, love and resilience.

Complex Story with Great Characters

I’ve read one other book in this series, and I wasn’t wild about it. While I liked the characters, I found the writing choppy. But I always give an author several chances to impress me before I give up on him or her. While this is not the Regency book of my dreams, it is far better than the first… and gives me hope the author will continue to hone her craft... The writing is still uneven, but not jarringly so. I absolutely adored the heroine from the start. She’s a strong-willed young lady with a deep desire to live a life different… and we meet her when she is just starting off on a grand adventure to the West Indies. Warming up to the hero was not so easy. He has a lot of bite and bluster at the start, but they are more bluff than real. He’s nursing not only a broken heart but is also on a mission of vengeance (and discovery). Can I say that I love, love, love that the heroine saves the hero early in the book? The hero made quite a metamorphosis not often seen in Regency romance, and the author made it believable. I was surprised the book had me in tears at times as he came to better know himself… and expressed it to the woman he was coming to love. As happens far too often in historical romances, the couple becomes intimate too quickly. While they didn’t “go all the way” in the first intimate scene, it is still far too far; young women in the Regency era were VERY sheltered, not knowing much about intimacy. It’s hard to imagine a young woman acting the way the heroine did in the intimate scenes. The writing was awkward at times. I found it still too choppy for my taste, though it has improved. The author, also, didn’t always make a smooth transition from the light bantering moments (which were fun) and the more serious parts of the book. With practice, I think she could do well with the light comedy moments… she just needs to strike a good balance with good transitions. I loved Rosalind’s younger sister and am looking forward to reading her book. She’s quite the little firecracker! All in all, I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Rating : 3/5 ... sadly it lacked depth for me

Review in french : cliquez ici

Review in english : I discovered The Gardner girls series via Goodreads. I loved book 2 about the older Gardner sisters. Having loved the character of Rosalind in book 2, I was excited to get into this new book. Honestly, I was disappointed.

The plot is interesting but not very original: Rosalind decides to get on a ship to go discover the world. She finds herself on board of Philip Calvert 's ship, a cold and bitter man since the death of his wife. The many dangers will bring them together ... fairly classic plot in a historical novel.

But that wasn't the biggest problem with this read. Between Rosalind and Philip there is more lust than love. It all happens way too fast and I honestly don't understand how they fell in love.

The characters are interesting but unfortunately the romance is too superficial for my taste. Too bad :(

Phillip Calvert is a hunk. We’ll circle back to that.

Fenna Edgewood’s third installment in The Gardner Girls is a worthy addition to the series. Rosalind was a compelling supporting character in both of her older sister’s love stories, and when she finally gets her own happily ever after, it feels just right.

Cross-dressing, pirates, pregnancy, a dog and cat love story - there’s something to love for everyone in The Seafaring Lady’s Guide to Love. But mostly I fell in love with Phillip.

Phillip’s awareness of his own evolving emotions and the way he embraces them - rather than denying them - is refreshing for a Regency hero. Plus, the way the author writes about his desire for Rosalind … well, I needed to get a drink of water a few times. It was hot.

I also deeply appreciated that Phillip and Rosalind’s happiness was anchored in one another, rather than in children or a future that might or might not come to be. Their frankness and tenderness was endearing and showed an alternate path to love and joy that is just as valuable as those more commonly trod by romance authors and their characters.

Needless to say, I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

This is the third book in The Garner Girls series and follows Rosalind as she follows her dreams of adventure. Rosalind has popped up in both of the other books in the series and I’ve always been intrigued to see what her story would bring. She is bold, brave, and dreams of seeing the world. Rosalind has never really conformed to high society yet still she feels trapped by the expectations, but she finally gets to her adventure in this book!

I loved how it started, we get to see her right at the beginning of her adventure, and I was hooked straight away as Rosalind falsely presents herself in order to gain access to the ship of her choice. straight away we get a strong sense of her character whilst also being highly entertained straight from the get-go. Rosalind’s boldness was incredibly entertaining to read and brought a different dynamic to the story which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Our first introduction to Philip was quite memorable, I wasn’t sure how I felt about him at first, but I was quickly charmed. Philip has a troubled past and consequently a quite incongruous personality, however, he grew on me and I just adored his dynamic with Rosalind. The enemies to lover’s type relationship that developed throughout were hilarious and I loved their banter. And I have to say there were some very entertaining and steamy scenes which were done excellently.

In addition to Rosalind and Philip, we have Cherry who I just adored. She was such a wonderful character that I couldn’t help but love her, she was the sister you always wanted, and she brought such a beautiful lightness to the story. Not only was she strong and brave but her relationship with Philip really made him much more relatable and likable, and I really loved her storyline. I hope we get to see more of her in future books!

The voyage itself was full of pirates, drama, and unexpected twists. The pirates really amped up the excitement and I loved how it played out. Upon reaching the destination, a lot of questions were answered, and I found that whilst it wasn’t as happy and light-hearted as some stories, it all worked out perfectly, and in a way I found very satisfying. Along with a compelling main plot, the author filled the story up with a great deal of entertainment and I have to say the Grayson subplot was just hilarious! The epilogue-type chapter was perfection and gave me all the insights I’ve been craving both into how Rosalind was doing after the events of this book as well as how the other Gardner sisters were doing.

Overall, a wonderfully written historical romance story. It was a delightful read, with a curvy, bold, and adventurous heroine with an enemies-to-lovers type romance. It not only included pirates and a road trip esque sea voyage but also a good deal of love, healing, and hope for the future. I would highly recommend picking this up as well as reading the others in the series, there is no shortage of compelling characters and beautiful love stories.

Thank you to the author and Booksprout for an ebook copy. This had no influence on my review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Rosalind is the third of the Gardner sisters and she is determined to travel before being shackled to a man. Even though her two older sisters are very happily married, she’s not sold on the idea. Almost 22 years old, she has been saving money into a travel fund, so she plans her escape. It’s not secret she has been planning this, but it’s possible no one took her seriously. She leaves a note explaining she has left so they won’t worry. While wandering the docks, trying to decide which boat to board, her youngest sister Gracie shows up and announces she’ll be going with her. Only 13 years old, Gracie added her own note to Rosalind’s and assured her family Rosalind would take care of her. Rosalind has no intention of doing so and sends Gracie home. Gracie is not happy.

Fairly confident that Gracie has followed her command, Rosalind boards the Witch of the Waves because she likes the name of the ship and the carving of a mermaid on the front. She hasn’t gotten permission to board but bluffs her way past the first mate by claiming to be the owner’s wife and finds the guest cabins. When she realizes another pregnant woman has accompanied the owner (whom she previously met and did not like), she feels she must apologize. As it turns out, Cherry is Phillip’s sister, and they are co-owners. Cherry immediately develops a friendship with Rosalind, but Phillip is confrontational. Rosalind is convinced he hates her, but Cherry tries to tell her he’s overcompensating because he holds more affectionate feelings toward her.

Some key points in the story:
The chemistry between Rosalind and Phillips is undeniable—they can barely keep their hands off of one another. After one such encounter, Phillip thinks, “It was behavior completely unbecoming to a young lady. Or was it too becoming?”

Gracie did not go home and the only one who seems to be unaware is Rosalind, even though Gracie’s dog has mysteriously wound up on the boat. Gracie is disguised as a cabin boy (which is not a spoiler as it was fairly evident as soon as she boarded the ship) and goes by the name Grayson. This is a theme with Gracie which will continue in her story next. Gracie is very comfortable pushing the limits of gender stereotypes.

The ship is on its way to Tortola to locate Cherry’s husband who has been missing for the last eight months. It’s also the place where Phillip expects to find the man who destroyed his life. For two years, he has plotted his revenge, but he never anticipated meeting Rosalind and this mitigates his anger.

I think it’s obvious this book will have a happy ending for Rosalind and Phillips, but having read subsequent stories with Cherry, I already knew it would not be a happy ending for her. The author avoids the need to delve too deeply into Cherry’s feelings because the book is never from her POV (only Rosalind’s and Phillip’s). Don’t worry, Cherry gets her own book later.

There’s quite an adventure on the boat, including storms at sea, potential encounters with pirates, and the ups and downs of the protagonists’ love story. It’s a wild ride and I greatly enjoyed it.

This is steamy Regency romance and huge adventures on the high seas! This grumpy hero and sunshine heroine story is filled with excitement and intrigue. Their chemistry had me turning the pages late into the night and I can't get enough of the Gardner Girls!

Rosalind may have been born and raised in the English countryside but she's always wanted to travel and experience so much more than London society has to offer. The day she decides to spend her savings on a cabin aboard the Witch of the Waves and sail to Tortola, she gets so much more than adventure. There's stowaways, a pregnant lady and broody ship owners.

I love Rosalind's resilience and strength of character. What may seem like a flighty decision to jump aboard a ship and sail away is not what it is at all. She's got a lot to bring to the table! Love this girl.

When Philip first meets the Rosalind he's attracted to the curvaceous beauty but with one marriage that ended in tragedy already the last thing he's looking for is a woman. Especially one so outspoken and impetuous. He's still suffering from his past and my heart really went out to him.

Fenna Edgewood has a signature style of writing that's enticing and would appeal to all book lovers whether you're a historical romance reader or not. Her characters always come to life with a mix of confidence, vulnerability and charm that make them perfectly endearing. This is definitely not a book to miss!

I was kindly provided an ARC for an honest review.

Fenna Edgewood’s “The Seafaring Lady's Guide to Love: A Curvy Girl Regency Romance (The Gardner Girls)” is a charming tale of adventure and love on the high seas.

Deciding she’d rather live her dreams of adventure rather than merely dream, Miss Rosalind Gardner has booked passage aboard the Witch of the Waves ship heading to Tortuga, in the West Indies.
Bright, outgoing, intelligent with a positive can-do attitude Rosalind is an absolute delight! She’s unhappy and has decided to take control of her life.

The handsome Phillip Calvart, the ships owner booked all the passenger cabins for he and his sister. He is a tormented man, bad tempered, angry, grieving and has a negative attitude feeling wrong by those he loved. Thinking he’ll never find love again after the loss of his wife he has given up on happiness.

The only thing Philip and Rossiland share in common is that they are unhappy. Aside from that, they could not be more different than one another and yet they are the perfect complement for one another. Of coarse their personalities clash in a big way but Phillip begins to see Rosalind differently and his personality begins to evolve and grow in the shadow of her heart. Neither can deny the attraction and sparks between them.

This is well written, charming, seafaring tale filled with surprises, suspense, some fantastic characters, heartbreak, forgiveness, romance and love.

Than you Ms. Edgewood this delightful reading experience.

Unhappy Rosalind Garner is ready for an adventure. Ready to steer her own path in the world, she seeks passage on board the Witch of the Waves by exercising a small white lie. Never would she have thought the lie would come to fruition.

Unlike the other ships with such flowery titles, the Witch of the Waves lives up to its name. As it sets forth to Tortola a few things happen – a courageous rescue of a fallen passenger, a friendship between two unlikely animals, childbirth, pirates and romance.

The handsome owner of the vessel, Sir Philip Calvert has one thing in common with Rosalind Garner – He too is unhappy. Struggling with past events, he is broody, annoyed, but very impressed by his unwanted guest. Unlike other women in the ton, she is feisty, bold and manages to breakdown his walls. The last thing he anticipated throughout this adventure, was finding his happily ever after.

Overall, The Seafaring Lady’s Guide to Love is romantic, humorous, and truly heartbreaking. Each character and twist enhanced the storyline. It was a pleasure to read. Thank you Fenna Edgewood for the ARC copy.

A highly entertaining book, love, grief, forgiveness, suspense, its all there. Rosalind books a cabin on a ship to Tortuga to work as a governess. Phillip and his sister Cherry are the only other passengers.Cherry is happy with the company, but what about Phillip? He doesn’t know what to think yet ...... especially since Rosalind was not supposed to be on this voyage, Phillip booked al the passenger ‘s cabins for him and his sister. Irritation and attraction alternate with him. Rosalind is a determined young lady who is not easily deterred. Adventures later they arrive at Tortuga, and although many beautiful things have happened: a marriage, a baby, there are also losses.Well written, though a bit too sentimental towards the end for my taste, a bit cliche at times, but also surprising. Looking forward to the next book. Standalone story, but from a series about 4 sisters. I would call this a medium steamy content.

The third book in the Gardner Girls series. I absolutely loved this story of Rosalind Gardner who stole away on the “Witch of the Waves” ship in order to get to the Caribbean island of Tortola, by posing as the owner’s wife She was looking for adventure and she certainly found it! The owner of the ship was Philip Calvert, a widower, and was not happy to find the hoydenish Rosalind on board. However, the close quarters on the ship lead to an attraction they cannot avoid. Also on board is Philip’s pregnant sister searching for her missing husband. Rosalind’s twelve-y-o sister, Gracie, also stows away on the ship as ‘Grayson’ a young cabin “boy” (this is the one annoying part of the book as gender neutral they/their is used for Gracie while she is a “boy” and I found it off putting). The book is full of action, adventure, pirates and romance and will keep you reading and reading. Can’t wait to read Gracie’s story.

The Seafaring Lady’s Guide to Love

4/5

An adventure filled romance with pirates and a romance that will leave you swooning.

Tropes:
Ship romance
Enemies to lovers
Forbidden romance
Disguises
Revenge adventure
Close quarters

This book was such a fun and enjoyable read and I loved it. It follows the tale of Rosalind who wants to escape her life in boring England and gets on a ship to go on an adventure overseas. It’s fast paced and I really enjoyed the plot. There wasn’t any block of information thrown at you nor were there parts where I thought it got stale.

The romance between the two main leads was so good, it left me wanting to read more and more. They were just such a perfect pairing that I couldn’t resist loving them more when I read their interactions with each other.

I also adored some of the secondary characters. Gracie was a wonderful addition and I really enjoyed her scenes of mischief and the sibling Bon between her and Rosalind was cute to read.

My only criticism was the climax of the book. There really wasn’t much of one. It sort of plateaued when I was expecting something far more intriguing to have happened.

Will I reread in the future? Yes. I’m also wanting to start reading the series starting from book #1.

Will I read anything else by the author? Yes, I am rather fond of Fenna Edgewood’s books now. I’ve only read one and I really like her writing. I also made the mistake again at starting this series on book #3 but this book works well as a standalone so it didn’t really matter. I do though want to read the other novels in the series as I really enjoyed this one.

I normally do not like stories of ships at sea, pirates, and sailors, and such, but this was one delightful read! Rosalind is one of four sisters and she has watched her two older sisters marry, and marry well, but she longs for adventure before settling down. Leaving her family a note she boards a ship heading to Tortola, in the West Indies. The owner of that ship is Philip Calvert, an angry and vengeful man, having been betrayed by those he loved. They do not hit it off well. He is caustic and abrasive. He thinks that she’s a minx and a hoyden. But what they can’t deny are the sparks of desire that go through them when they’re together. Their dialogue is clever and witty. Their growing attraction is explosive. It was so endearing to see her break through his hard, bitter, exterior, and find a sweet , loving, marshmallow inside!

Rosalind isn't ready to settle into the life of a wife and mother. Before she marries, she wants to see the world. Under false pretenses, she secures passage on a ship to the West Indies. In the process, she infuriates Philip, the ship's owner, who's also taking the voyage. In such close quarters, and with the threat of pirates, can these two opposites find love along the way?

This novel will appeal to romance readers who like the addition of adventure on the high seas. The book focuses more on plot than character. Philip's arc is well developed, but Rosalind's is a bit stunted. We know she was unhappy before the journey, but it's not clear why—maybe it's just a sense of malaise that drives her.

The supporting characters were endearing, and the inclusion of Philip's diverse heritage was nice to see. Overall, I'd characterize this book as a romp with some serious elements.

Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

A must read book. The book draws you in and you don't want to put it down.
The Seafaring Lady's Guide to Love is the 3rd book in the Gardner Girls series. I'm loving authors who are now including curvy ladies into their books and Fenna Edgewood is one of those authors.
Miss Rosalind Gardner is a rebellious curvy lady who wants to explore distant lands before settling down. The character Rosalind is so funny that you never know what is going to come out of her mouth next.
On the other hand, you have Philip Calvert owner of the ship who is grumpy and thinks he will never find love again. Rosalind is just what Philip needs in his life. They are both a perfect blend when they are together.
This book is a standalone in which I was glad because I haven't read the other 2 books yet but I will now.
This book was provided by ARCs on Booksprout and I'm giving my honest opinion about this book.

Rosalind is ready to forge ahead into the wide world and have an adventure. She decides to travel to the West Indies to governess for a family friend.

In order to board the ship alone she pretends to be the wife of one of the passengers. When ship owner Phillip Calvert discovers Rosalind masquerading as his wife he is decidedly unamused.

Philip is a grump. Since the tragic death of his wife two years earlier, he's had little interest in women, but the voluptuous and frustratingly bold Miss Gardiner has caught his eye.

Sharing close quarters on board ship and her developing friendship with Mr Calvert's pregnant sister Cherry bring Rosalind closer to Philip.

It doesn't take too long before Rosalind and Philip develop a romantic connection, and then... pirates.

It's a crazy storyline without much character development and the MC's jump on each other pretty early on.

This book contains multiple descriptive love scenes.

Healing and Forgiveness

Even though parts of this book were unrealistic, overall I liked The Seafaring Lady's Guide to Love.

The heroine was just quirky enough and her sister was LOL funny. The hero, though damaged, was redeemable and his sister was the kind of person anyone would love to have as a sibling. Added to the human characters were both a dog and a cat, who at times truly were the stars of many of the scenes.

The only aspect of this steamy romance that I didn't like were the pages and pages of thoughts. I personally like a better balance of scene movement, dialogue and thoughts/descriptions. I realize that the wordiness may just be Fenna Edgewood's style. But because I did like the story and the epilogue, I'm giving this tale four stars.

Content 411: In addition to secular and religious swearing, this book also contains sexual slang terms and on-screen sex scenes.

Wow! Pirates, ship battles, a pretend husband and a missing husband. A thirst for revenge quenched. So much drama and steam to unpack!
Rosalind Aka Rose has booked a passage on a vessel but not really since the ships owners both decided not to take on passengers well they get 3 and one is furry! Phillip is on a quest for revenge on the Witch of the waves!
Cherry is Philip sister heavy with pregnancy and determined to make this voyage to find out about her husband!
But there is a time when life becomes do very precious when the ship is later attacked.
So many many adventures for Philip and Rosalind to get to not only live but seize happiness!
Cherry and the ships captain deserve their own story! I love how the Gardner girls show up for each other in unexpected ways! Bravo

Want to take a trip to an exotic location, with a budding romance thrown in for free? Then hop aboard this story and enjoy the sail!

Rosalind Gardner, age 22, has saved her money to purchase passage to the West Indies, slips from her house to the dock, and finds an unusual means of booking passage (enough said)! On the sea trip, we are treated to surprises, most enjoyable, but a few scary. Our heroine saves our Hero—a nice switch! You will find it hard to put down this book.
A book for mature audiences, however, the only negative to the story, and the reason it is not 5 stars for me.

Delightful tale.
What a lady to do when she wants adventure well Rosalind comes up with a plan and like all good plans this one has a bit of challenge to overcome. Now this challenge has the name of Sir Philip Calvert. This tale has additional twists too, but of course that is what made this book so entertaining to read. This book is not all sweetness there is serious issues that come up and there is sadness and pain. The author did such a great showcasing what happens and how it affected the different characters. Excellent writing, this is a book I am happy to recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

An Adventurous Sea Voyage

I loved this book and will definitely buy the rest of the series. This was the first one I read and it’s also very enjoyable as a standalone. Phillip and Rosalind have great chemistry and their characters develop throughout the story in a beautiful way. Rosalind is my favorite kind of heroine, loyal, smart and strong. Phillip is what regency heroes should be, a tortured past but a gentleman who sees a shining light in Rosalind. The secondary characters all make me want to complete the journey. It was beautiful, sweet, adventurous and heartbreaking, can’t wait to read the rest.

WOW what a Fantastic Story The Seafaring Lady's Guide is! Fenna Edgewood has written a story filled with unforgettable characters that are well thought out and each and everyone comes across clearly as their individual personalities become more than just part of the tale, a action packed plot that brims with tension-building twist, with setting descriptions which brings this read together perfectly and will keep you reading from the moment you begin the journey until the very end. I always enjoy how well the author brings in the other characters from earlier series, it's like revisiting old friends that you haven't seen for a while. It was nice to catch up with them.

Outstanding

Rosalind is a curvy girl unlike her willowy sisters. She has saved her money for years so she can travel to the West Indies.
Philip is a ship owner and a widower. He’s sworn off women and marriage because his wife cuckolded him with his best friend.
Fate brings them together on Phillip’s ship the Witch of the Waves. It’s a lovely story of love finding you no matter where you are at.
I loved that the heroine is not “perfect” and that the hero is a grump. Fenna does such an awesome job of making the characters come alive. Looking forward to the rest of the Gardner Girls series.

This book had the perfect balance of heat and sweetness! I loved that it took place on a ship instead of in a ballroom, a nice change for a historical. I love a grumpy hero and Fenna delivered with Phillip. He is crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside, and it was fun to watch him fall for Rosalind. The cast of side characters added the right touches of humor, and I'm excited to see what adventures Gracie gets up to in the next book. The Seafaring Lady's Guide to Love was a delight!

Good
A great story of a determined woman intent on being happy doing something for herself. She lies her way onto a ship claiming to be the owners wife. Once on she befriends his sister and gets to stay. He is attacted to her but has become bitter from his past. He soon acts on the attraction and they become more than friends. Add a pirate attacking the ship, a younger sister acting as a cabin boy and there is more to the story. Really enjoyed this story and will read more from this author.

Am I mistaken in thinking that there is a major plot error in this book? I am referring to the time line where the premise is that Phillip was away for 4 months and, in the intervening time before his return, Sarah had an affair with Martin resulting in a pregnancy leaving her six months pregnant, from where we are told that the child could not be Phillip's. Surely that would mean that she was already pregnant at least 2 months on his departure? As much of the books subsequent events are based on that premise I felt that the story's credibility was seriously undermined.

The third book in the Gardner Girls series a well written story of a man who has given up on happiness after his wife died and what he found out. Miss Rosalind Gardner is a very determined woman so she stows aboard Philip Calvert's ship but so has her sister Gracie. Philip is taking his pregnant sister Cherry to find her husband Charles who has gone missing. An emotional story with some sad and happy moments. I want to read the next book.
