Pete has been rejected many times because of his swarthy skin. So when she sees red-headed, freckle-faced Eva rejected because of her looks, he offers to marry her and take her back to the Circle A Ranch.
With nothing left but the trunk containing her few belongings Eva doesn’t feel she has much choice.
They both understand this is a marriage in name only. But as they spend time together, an unexpected attraction grows. Both realize they want more from the marriage than what they have but the words don’t quite come. They can only hint at the dream buried deep in each heart.
Out-spoken Eva is about to confess her feelings when she discovers a letter Pete has written to a mail-order bride and realizes he has given his heart to another.
Can this pair confront their fears in order to embrace a future full of love?
Linda Ford grew up devouring books and making up stories in her head—often late at night when she couldn't sleep. But she hadn't planned to write. Instead, she dreamed of running an orphanage. In a way, that dream came true. She married, had four homemade children, adopted ten and lived (at times, endured) the dream.
Writing first took her to non-fiction human-interest articles for newspapers and eventually a non-fiction book about tuberculosis set in the 1930s and 1940s (Touched By The White Plague). But romance had always been her first love and she turned to writing love stories. She is multi-published in the CBA market.
She lives on a small ranch in Alberta, Canada, where she can see the mountains every day. She and her husband continue to enjoy their children and grandchildren.
This is a sweet and loving story. Pete is the sixth of the boys from the orphanage and has much baggage from his past weighing on him. Eva was abandoned at the nearby town as the man that sent for her rejected her and left her. Pete happens to have observed this and feels for her rejection and offers to marry her on the spot. Not knowing what to do she accepts and after marrying they head back to the Circle A. This is their story and you will definitely enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
I read this in one sitting! Couldn’t put it down. I have to say, this is probably my favorite of the series. Eva and Pete’s story was so well written. I loved how much of it centered on just the two of them getting to know one another. No distractions, no conflict. Just sweet times of being together and enjoying God’s creation.
Wonderful story! I will definitely be reading this again.
I think this is one of my faves from the series. The relationship that Eva and Pete build is so beautiful. The fact that they both had each other after all they went thorough and gave each other the love and much more that they wanted and needed. My only complaints were the ending feeling too rushed and not really seeing Eva and the others get to know each other.
Two people who have given up on having a dream. The dream of having a home of their own. They have each baggage to get over. You take one young lady who has no family left. Then you take a young name who never had a family. They make the decision to join forces and make a family of the own.
Another heart warming story of author Ms. Ford. How the hurtful words of people who don't know the love of God can hurt others. Especially little children who only long for love in their souls. Sad it takes until becoming an adult and finding the right person to show them love. The complete series has been enjoyable to read.
I loved this story of two lonely hearts. Pete went to lick up lumber for the school house and came home with a bride who has a secret; one that will not come between them, but give them a better understanding of each other and help their love to grow.
Such creative stories, of people coming together; creating one large family, each with their own unique problem. And from a Christian and faith point of view. Recommended. A place where you would feel like you could belong.
The two characters in this book were perfect. I especially liked the characters Eva and Pete. Eva was delightful and I loved her Scottish accent. If ever two people were meant for each other, it was these two.. it was a great, light read and very enjoyable
This story resonated with me. Whether it was two socially rejected people finding a forever mate or God working to answer heartfelt prayers, I cannot say. The narrative drew me in and held me fast. Well worth the time to read!
I love this series! Each book is set on the same ranch, and they're romances, but each couple is unique. Different ways of meeting and getting to know each other, it keeps the series fresh.
I have been enjoying The book By Linda ford She's a wonderful Arthur I love the story The cowboys So if you need a good book to read I Kristen book as well Check out Linda ford And you'll be amazed Thank Oh wonderful books
Romans 8:28 applies here as Pete rescues a damsel in distress and marries her to keep it legit. As time goes by the marriage of convenience becomes a match made in Heaven.
I liked this story of a cowboy who offered to take a rejected bride because they both didn't have physical looks like others. They both agreed to marriage in name only and forever.
What a surprise this book was. Two life wounded people who found each other but didn't know how to handle their new married without benefits life. So glad it worked out for Pete and Eva. Thank you Linda Ford for this well written book.
Again Linda had a great book. Kept wanting to read more. To have a Christian family to write about. I love every book that has been written in this series. Look forward to read more of her books.
Author really can keep your attention. Appreciated that it was not filled with inappropriate language. It was a fast read and great story line. Highly recommend.
I read this story as part of a box set. It was really good. I enjoyed how they both "matched". Definitely a God connection. It was really lovely how they helped each other heal and be accepted, and belong to each other. I liked the honesty between them. Loved Scottie!
This is the sixth book in this series and it is a good story about two people that have been hurt and they find love with each other and they are happy
This is another amazing book by this Author, she sure knows her Cowboys. I highly recommend this book. It kept you interested from the very first page.
I really loved this book the best. It waa a really good story of how God has a divine purpose for our lives. I would recommend this book to all.😃 Loved it!
This is my favorite so far in this series! Love the way Pete and Eva overcome the opinions of others to find their own worth in God's eyes! Great read!
