Deputy Jackson Montgomery thought his grandmother had died of natural causes. Or at least that was the story his estranged uncle had told him. Jackson hadn’t seen the woman in the fifteen years since his parents had died. Then, six months after her death, he receives a box containing her ashes and a cryptic note asking the who killed your grandmother? It also named him heir to the family estate. His uncle doesn’t want him to go. But on the tail of a suspension from the force, he decides to return to upstate New York and to the sleepy little town he’d spent so many childhood summers. At the very least he’d pay his respects. But soon enough he finds himself embroiled in an investigation and suddenly he’s knee deep in ex-hitmen, power hungry heiresses, and brazen police officers. Turns out the quiet town he once knew isn’t so quiet. Will Jackson be able to find his grandmother’s killer and escape unscathed from a town of shady characters or will they peel him apart and toss his body in a shallow grave?
