Mickey had always promised me adventures. Now I was about to have one for real. I'd dropped down the rabbit hole, following the trail of my magical fae men, so now what? Fantastic creatures, alien landscapes, obscure rituals and me. Somehow I'm the most powerful of them all, which puts a bounty of my head. Capturing me means taking my power for yourself. Is that why the preternaturally beautiful Pucks want me by their side, or is it for reasons even more complex? Find out more in Trapped!
I am so in love with this book!!!! Sam Hall again you rock!!! This is book 2 so should read in order. Love this world that Sam Hall has made. Characters are fantastic. Storyline is phenomenal. Start to finish couldn’t put down. Highly recommend!!!!
Trapped begins where Lured left us, Meghan took a leap with the Pucks and now she's in a whole new fae world. Except that some parts of this world aren't as new to her as you first think. She has continued memories coming back that are sprinkled in and it turns out that some of her "dreams" from childhood were more real than she thought. Still, Meghan gets to explore and we get to learn with her, which I'm still really liking, including about her powers and what they mean to the kingdom and her guys. In the midst of all this exploring and learning, she still has plenty of opportunities for self-doubt, self-awareness, book world vs. "real" world thoughts, and connection. The continued moments of Meghan thinking about what's happening and how these elements play out in books vs. now is a great layer and I think it's grounding for her to help her decide what to think/do at times.
After I read book 1, I hoped that we'd get more from Dylan and Mickey in this second book and we do. Dylan may be the more reserved brother, but there's so much happening under the surface. Mickey has a lot happening that's fully out there but has to be interpreted and peeled back some to get to what's actually going on and what he needs. Meghan hit the jackpot with this group of men and the deeper insight into them we get in this book makes that more clear. All of the guys get time with her, even when it's not their day, and there's plenty of further emotional connection along with the steamy times. There's also the sixth brother and my curiosity has been piqued there.
The bad guys are plotting and there are attempts to hurt the good guys. We learn more about what happened with the guys' father and how dangerous he is, but the true good vs. evil battle (however that's going to look) is reserved for the next book. The side characters play a big role in Meghan understanding more about the bad side and I enjoyed how detailed and varied these supporting characters are in this world. The connection between Meghan and her guys is crucial, but there's also a connection between Meghan and the kingdom's people. As part of that connection and interacting with side characters, like in book 1, there are some mm scenes performed for the main characters. Her guys are not involved and are still absolutely her men. They could not be more intensely focused on her (without being literally glued to her probably).
Trapped ends on another lead-in to the next book with some big questions pending with how they'll unfold and be answered in the next one. Like Meghan, sometimes I wasn't sure where the bigger picture was going, but by the end I felt more certain with what we know. This has been a great fae series to read with lots of details referencing books and pop culture that have me smiling. I also appreciate that even when elements are darker, this is not a dark series. Plus, again, these men and Meghan are amazing together.
Give her a bunch of shifter wolves and she creates a story filled with smut-tacular love and crazy heat. Give her a bunch of bad band boys and she weaves a politically impactful fantasy with Fae the likes I've never seen. The you give her a 1986 classic and she gives you yet another masterpiece. And the sequel just gets better. Meghan and her men continue to dive down the rabbit hole and in this second book their relationships develop at a decent pace. It grabs you by the hair and draws you in in such a way that you literally cannot put the book down once you've settled in.
This book contains excellent character development and such epic world building that I was so immersed in their story that I was a little surprised to not find a unicorn in my back yard when I finally crawled my way back out of the book. Trapped is a very accurate title for this book as I was trapped by the characters and the story line from start to finish. Thanks Sam Hall for another great and satisfying read.
Ever go to a dinner with family and friends, a bit of drama hits hard, then everyone can return and have their fill of the food until your pants need to be undone and a nap food-comma commences? This series is like that.
Draws you in, some familiar characters, some complete strangers, but all you know is this is where you want to be. The story line just gets better, the plot, the twists, and the mystery is really intriguing.
I have to say, certain scenes in this one are … I’m blushing, panting, and didn’t even skip… so good, intense, but well done.
I really relate to Meghan, as a person, her hobbies, how she is accepting and terrified all the same time. I think fellow bookworms will agree.
I gobbled this book, like it was my favorite chocolates on a stressful day. Definitely recommend and can’t wait for book 3.
It's been too long since I read the first book, and so the opening of this one was really, really confusing. I almost DNFed in the first few pages because I had no idea what was happening to whom. I ended up skipping on past the confusing bit and soon remembered who was who and then it was better. I'll read the next book when it arrives, but hopefully it won't kick off in such a confusing way.
I'm holding the 'oh f**k' handle. What a journey so far. Meghan and the Pucks start a new chapter of their courtship. Everything takes place in the realm of the Pucks true being. The book explores Meghan's apprehension and how her relationships with each of the Pucks changes and develops. As well as how they are going to defeat the bad guy. But damn I'm dibbing Mickey and Killian😁
There are no words adequate enough to describe what a phenomenal book Trapped is.
In book number 2 of the Promised to the Puck’s series we pick up right where we left off, with Meghan and her devilishly delicious Puck brothers adapting to their second chance lives. It is revealed in chapter 1 what happened to the past-life Meghan through a flashback, the first of many that break your heart before putting it back together. From there we are taken on an epic adventure, through distant lands, meeting mythical creatures along the way, and finding out just how powerful Meghan really is (and who she might really be!!).
There are some scenes that are not for the faint of heart. We are thrust into the world of Titania and her king and all the evil they have inflicted on their subjects and their land. There are moments where Meghan has to confront her past, a past full of pain for her and the brothers, and towards the end there is a moment that touches upon mental health struggles and the lines of reality and fantasy are quite blurred. Sam Hall has always handled triggers in her stories with the utmost care and respect, she did no less in this one and it wouldn’t be the book it is without the dark aspects.
I’ve already read this book twice, having flown through it the first time and wanting to go back to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I’ve read all of Sam Hall’s books but this series has quickly become my favorite. It tears at your heart and makes you want to crawl inside and live in the book forever. Can’t wait for book 3!!
Trapped started right where we left off in Lured. I love Sam Hall’s world building in these books, it really is magical. The story, the characters, the world and the history are woven together perfectly.
As the story progresses we, and the female main character, Meghan, learn about her past lives and the differences and similarities between then and now. Her powers begin to manifest, and we see the effects they have in this new location. We also see how her interactions between the brothers have changed, seemingly for the better.
I feel like this book really delved into the past, side characters and how our main characters fit into this world. I love that Meghan still compares what’s happening to her to books she has read, including reverse harems. Her inner monologue is hilarious.
Sam Hall has done a fantastic job with Trapped, the second book in the Promised to the Pucks series. I loved this book even more than the first and I didn't think that was possible. If Fairyland and Wonderland had a snarky baby, then it would be Trapped, it has all the weirdness and beauty of fae but with all this trippy stuff that reminds me of Wonderland. This book blew my freaking mind.
Meghan is now in faerie, the kingdom of Eilithea, where Eamon rules. To say that Meghan adjusted quickly is accurate, I mean she still had a ton of questions and slight breakdowns but mostly she jumped right in trying to figure out this new world, her placement in this new world, and what happened in the past. What helped Meghan get through most of it is that she's a reader, a paranormal romance reader, so she was pretty much prepared for all this, some of the things that the guys mentioned and some of the things she saw all connected to the books she read. Meghan is a booknerd and it's was never clearer than in this book. There were a lot of book-girl references, authors, books, genres, you could see Meghan's excitement whenever things from her book come in handy. I love the fact that Meghan was a booknerd, that part of her connected quickly and deeply with me and made the story that much cooler because I've read books where they say that the main character was a booknerd but didn't apply it to the story but Sam ran away with it and I loved it. I also loved all the pop culture references, Harry Potter, the Labyrinth, and Buffy to name a few. Those Easter eggs to things I know, things I relate to just adds another layer to an already excellent story.
As for the guys, they were really devoted in this one, I would say the border on the obsessed and I'm not mad about it, all the guys are great and I love seeing more of their personalities come out. The guys aren't hiding their feelings for Meghan anymore, they are trying to tamp down on the intensity but it still leaks through. The smoldering looks, the touches, the things they say to her, the way they support her, the patience they have with her, all of it shows exactly how they feel. Another fantastic thing is that they are all waiting for her to take the lead, looking to her about what she wants and Eamon sees her as an equal ruler, whatever she wants, whatever she says goes. All of the books that I've read by Sam have this underline feminist voice to them and this book isn't any different.
I'm gonna admit that with that there were a couple of moments where I didn't know what was going on but that was okay. Otherwise, the plot was freaking awesome, Meghan using her book knowledge and her super awesome magical powers. I am jealous of those powers, if I had my choice of powers, I always thought of something like Meghan's, it's basically the power of imagination and she is so instinctual with it. The fae creation mythology and how Meghan is connected to it is revealed and I gotta give Sam props I didn't know that it was going this way but it makes sense. Titania and Oberon (Ober-mort as Meghan calls him) have taken bad guys to a whole new level. The backstory behind these two is crazy, it kinda explains what's happening now but still, this pair is a doozy.
Trapped was entertainment at its best, filled with magic, steam, emotional moments, crazy mythology, centaur races, magical libraries, talking cats, a surprise plot twist, a dirty beast, and so much more. I love the fae and Sam has made my heart happy with another fantastic fae story. Meghan and the guys may have won the battle but the war isn't over. I don't know how the story is gonna end but there is at least one more book in the series and I cannot wait to return to the fae.
Trapped is the 2nd book in the Promised to the Pucks series and what a great addition it is!!! I have read a few of Sam Halls series now, she is a master of world building, and it certainly shows in this book. When I read Lured, I really thought the storyline was incredibly original and unique. Lured and Trapped are both beautifully written.
Let’s face it, Meghan’s life was a little boring. Then the Pucks showed up and her entire world is turned upside down. Quite literally. To me, Meghan isn’t the typical FMC. She occasionally gets distracted by her ‘little brain’, (honestly, I think I would too if I had these men around. OMG, HOT). She is unassuming and at least to start with, a little underestimated. She doesn’t come across as strong, although she certainly isn’t weak, but she certainly comes into her own by the end. But my absolute favourite thing about Meghan is the fact that she is a reader!!! I love, love, LOVE that about her. This reason alone is why I found her to be one of the more relatable female characters I have read about in a while.
Well done Sam Hall. I am really looking forward to seeing what is coming next for Meghan. I have no doubt she will handle it like the Queen she is.
Meghan's adventure continues with the Pucks - now in another world, where she is queen and the Pucks have returned to their people. There were some parts of this book that I loved and were really strong - a very Buffy-esque encounter in the library, Meghan discovering her powers, and so many mystical creatures. The steam level was great, with a lot of variety and "shows". If you're into voyeurism, this book is for you! The world-building is fantastic, as is the set-up for the Big Bad.
There were a few parts that slowed down the story and they usually were the flashbacks or research portions of the tale. They definitely added to the overall world and plot - but there's a lot that happens in this book, so it affected the pacing. Also, I'm still a little confused about Mickey/Michael/Mikey's background. Maybe it's just been too long since I read Lured and I need to go back and dig around. But he's definitely a very interesting and unique character, and his big secret is amazing. I'm excited for the conclusion of this very fun, very meta tale of a book lover who found herself in the plot of her favorite genre. A girl can dream!
Confusing for the most part, but well written in that typos were rare, the imagery amazing.
This all seemed like a hurriedly spliced together film that combined major scenes from every movie made of historical events, ancient myths, dark fairytales, and famous romantic triangles. The transitions were nonexistent so I spent a lot of time backtracking to make connections or see how they zapped from the present to medieval times or from bed to a forest.
Basically, our heroine is the fated mate to all six Puck brothers, who all have magical DNA and ties to the Fae, which just happens to be her biggest, most significant area of interest, given her many past lives that interacted with and were a very important romantic significant other to the brothers. Just so confusing and often challenging to read without some head banging.
As stated, I found the graphic imagery of our heroine's memories, colorful scenery or characters, and their interactions unparalleled in its vivid detail or emotive variations. She's very good at descriptions, but this series mostly gave me a headache from the incarnation changes. Three stars.
I think I said it already in my review of part one: Meghan is one of my favorite FMCs. She just is a relatable character in the way she thinks. Part 2 is more about her reconnecting to the Pucks and accepting the kind of devotion they show towards her. I think she struggles because she doesn't feel worthy and with remembering bits and pieces of her past she seems to feel a lot of guilt. Let me tell you: with all the bully romance books happening (which I like - don't get me wrong) the Pucks are a nice change. It is kind of soothing to read a book without over the top mean actions. There are times where I wish Meghan would just jump into bonds with all of the boys and unite them but that would just not be authentic. I am looking forward to more.
Book 2 in this series and oh the stuff that goes down in this book! First, read the trigger warning - seriously. One of the villains in this book does a whole lot of psychological warfare and causes Meghan a whole lot of self doubt for a large chunk of the book.
But when Meghan finally realizes that her men truly love her, and genuinely want to share her, plus who she is, what she can do for her people, we’ll there is no stopping how amazing her potential is.
I love that we not only get more development between Meghan and the Pucks in this book, but that we learn so much about the land and it’s people and how Meghan helps them.
I love how this story ends and did I mention unicorns?!?! Pick it up today!
Take me away Pucks!!! Another out of the park for Sam Hall!
Another amazing Sam Hall novel! The storyline is extraordinary and the characters just blow me away. I want to be a part of this fantastic world she has created. I don't want to give too much away, because of spoilers, but you need to read this book. Sam has added some mind-blowing new characters and fleshed out some terrifying bad guys in this new installment. She has added a new take on unicorns, a new faerie world, and added on to what we know of Meghan and the Pucks, along with so much more.
If you love reverse harem, faeries, magic, kick-ass heroines, unicorns, and tremendously well-written novels this book is for you. Just make sure to read book one first so you know what's going on.
This is the 2nd book in the series and it is just amazing!! There are flashbacks of prior "lives" or versions of Megan's and it helps add to how the guys treat her now and why things might have gone wrong in the past. The looming present of the guys Dad and Stepmother (whose name qe will not mention) is there and as you read you can feel the tension waiting for the betrayal to come. There are moments of lightness with Mikey at the Centaur village but then with the quick change in personality of Mikey it can get hot, heavy and intense! Sam Hall is able to write all of the characters so they can stand out on their own and this story just sucks you in and doesn't let you up until the end! Also CATS!! Need I say more!
I loved this book, it’s so mysterious and such an unusual and unique setting I honestly couldn’t put it down - those twists, wow! The detail in the writing is fantastic, the many different ways their ‘package’ is described is just beyond. Like ‘the brothers were endowed on a paranormal fantasy level.’ The storyline is so well thought out, that the story flows and you are completely sucked into this world. I love the suspense and not knowing what will happen next, oh and the hot AF brothers - um yum! I loved the flash backs of the past and how they linked to the present. I usually don’t read much paranormal novels, but this series has completely changed me.. maybe it’s just Sam and the way she writes, but I’m completely sold!
Trapped is an epic fantasy that will leave you laughing, reeling, swooning and squirming in your seat. The world building in this book is intense at some points but it all starts coming together by the end. There is a lot of heat to keep the fires burning and so many fantastical creatures that I didn't want it to end! The character growth was so good and I love Meghan and how relatable she is. I love the complicated Mickey and his surprises. This series is everything I didn't know that I needed and I'm really enjoying this wild ride. I seriously can't wait to see what Sam Hall has in store for us in the last book. I don't want this series to end.
Trapped is the second book for Maggie and the Pucks, and we get to delve in deeper into not only their relationship, but also their complicated history. Maggie steps up and steps out in this book, taking a bit of control over her own destiny and discovery into her past. Doubts start to creep in for her, about the reality of her situation, and I loved how the author handled the progression of this. This is a great bridge to the next book, and I love that we get to see not only more of the Fae kingdom and its inhabitants, but also het to know the Pucks better. I can’t wait to het back to this kingdom and see how the big bad meets his end.
This second book in the series was way better than the first. With quite a few feminism themes floating around, this story was primarily about Meghan finding her place, her power, her worth, her self. There's heaps of steam thrown in there, lots of apprehension and a bit of action. There's lots of intricate mysteries and events from the past that are delicately unravelled. Incredible world building as always and unique and distinctive characters that we get to dig deeper into. With one nemesis brought down in a spectacular manner, and one still left to fight, book 3 is looking extremely promising. 😍
What happens when you take the dreamer from the world she knows and take her to a fairyland, that she alone can heal and restore? Well, perfection really. Lured was one of my favourite books by Sam Hall, I can honestly say that Trapped is more than a worthy sequel. With story that defies time and space, big bads that are irredeemable and just evil, magical beings that bring back all your favourite fantasy tropes and a heroine that is just so damn relatable! Oh and not to mention, her men, the king, the night, the joker, the scientist, the slightly mad man of her dreams and the unknown one. The pure joy of reading this book made me so so happy. I urge you to read these books!
As a sucker for shifter/fantasy romance, I luv to fall head first into your books....
This series definately hasn't changed my luv for your sarcasm, sex scenes, crude jokes, or poly-amorous characters. It has actually made me like them better, especially when the bookish gel does what a lot of us really do. While we're reading certain parts of a book decide, am I skipping this definite plunder and oral scene to see what's coming next, or is it really that important to know right now. Lol!!! How pong before someone interrupts me??!! But she still manages to make the connections sincere and luving.
For those who fell in love with Lured, this next entry will indeed ‘lure’ them even farther down the rabbit hole. Meghan and her men have now taken up residence in the castle, but all is not peaceful in the new world. As she explores, they prepare for war. It’s going to take all of them working together to win the battles ahead, some they don’t even foresee. You can expect more book and movie references, steamy scenes and inside jokes. I’m captivated by the world Sam’s created here and can’t wait for what’s to come!
I love the world building in this book and you see how much Meghan grows as a person. I love seeing how their relationship developed more in this book too. I think my favorite of the Pucks is Eamon something about the leader type I love lol. All of the side characters are great, especially Atlas and Flicker. So many funny parts that had me laughing. Oh and the steamy scenes are hot! I really enjoyed the past life parts that are throughout the book. There are many twist and turns throughout that had me guessing especially the ending. I can't wait for the next book. I would recommend this book to anyone who love lots of fantasy and hot guys!
I feel like the relationships between Meghan and the Puck brothers really progresses in this book. I feel like Meghan gets to know the guys a little more past the surface and that the Pucks start to realize that this Meghan is different from the other Meghans that came before. One of the things that I love about this series is that Meghan is super relatable, she's goofy, she's nerdy, and she isn't perfect while trying to adapt to her new role. I also have to add that Mickey is still my favorite.
Amazing world building once again! If you enjoyed the first book "Lured", then you will LOVE Trapped. Head trips, secrets, steamy scenes & tons of character growth are only a few of the things that will keep you turning the pages until the early light of dawn. I couldn't put this down, trying to figure out what the heck would happen next. Love the depth of connection we get to experience with Meghan and each of the Puck boys and watching her find herself is a magical journey in itself. Do not miss this amazing ride!!
This book picks up right where the last book ends in this crazy mixed up fae world. Meghan the FMC discovers a lot more about her past lives and mixing that in with present to become the Queen she is meant to become. Her powers manifest in some truly spectacular ways that definitely feels like something out of a dream world. The wold building is fantastic and the Puck brothers are each interested and intriguing in their own ways. I sometimes found I got a little bit lost and wondered if I’d missed something but that didn’t take away from the overall experience of something so magical. 🖤
I can def say I've never read a book like it, but it was hard for me to get into this book. I spent quite some time confused, some of the time uninterested(skimmed a lot), and the other time looking forward to answers of some kind. It's weird how I liked it but didn't and wouldn't read the next book. A lot of unnecessary dialouge and whole chapters that add absolutely nothing to the plot. I still scratching my head on this one. But don't let me deter you from giving it a try, I really felt the Alice in Wonderland acid trip.
Such a great series! You definitely need to read the first book to understand this one. There is such thought provoking content in this book and I love that. The Puck boys are sexy as sin but I gotta say that Mikey/Mickey/Michael/Beast is my favorite. He's a cutie, a sweetie and somewhat confusing as hell. The storyline takes some turns that were unexpected which keeps you wondering what's going to happen next. Cannot wait for the next and last book in this series!!
