The most important thing about not repeating the horrors of the past is to understand how we arrived at those horrible moments in time. Going forward in our lives requires the same mentality as riding a bicycle or driving a car. You must always face forward but only occasionally glance behind you or in the rearview mirror. To continually focus in the past without focusing on the future will inevitably cause accidents, injury, or death. This book takes us on a pithy view of the past through such a rearview mirror without obsessing on it to the point that we are unable to understand where we are now. It provides perspective and understanding on how to navigate what the future holds based on clear and present dangers that are evident now. I did not listen to the version with workbooks and practice guides because I imagine those would require the physical copy to fully appreciate the value of this book. However if that is your goal to put into practice what this book is attempting to do I would recommend such a publication. Seeing a person for who they truly are requires hindsight and foresight. My opinion, this book offers you a way to hone your skills in both of those.

This is the summary of the book. What I wrote for the book -- Should be required reading. The author states some premises that many others have done in part, but he backs them up with actual behaviors from actual happenings. Whatever your political beliefs, you cannot digest this book without it leading you into some deep and thoughtful consideration about where we are headed, as a country and as a world. - Summary is an excellent representation, but the book is so short, take the time to read!
