Gran is gone and now I’m bound to the will of this spellbook, the legacy of my family passed to me. My first calling after her loss brought me here, to another world. The man who summoned me here says we are promised to each other, that our families agreed to our union. I don’t remember that. Vague memories of our childhood friendship are all my mind can conjure. There’s much I don’t remember about the time he says I spent here, with him, with his family. He says we had feelings for each other, that he still wants to marry me. Twelve years ago, that’s when this agreement was set. I’ve agreed to aid him in his quest to undo a curse upon his family. It’s a distraction from my growing affection for him. Marriage and family were never part of my goals Go it solo, see the world, live in the moment, that was the plan. He’s turning that all upside down with every glance, every touch. If I give in, I'm stuck here, my plans go up in smoke, but the longer I'm with him the more I wonder if that's such a bad thing.
The Ring of Souls is a steamy fantasy romance with adult themes and situations.
I've lived a diverse life, and I have no regrets. From working in NYC theater doing wardrobe and dressing a variety of celebrities to working in a medical laboratory in Portland Oregon it's all been part of my journey. Originally from Missouri, my Midwestern roots have also been an influence but for the past decade-plus five, the Pacific NW has been my home and I love it. I began my publication journey with fantasy romance in The Ring of Souls and also have found a passion for paranormal romance in Unchained and my Sterling Chains series which combines my love of contemporary romance with my infatuation with all things magical.
Welcome to the magical world of Vee R. Paxton, a mystical experience of adventure, romance and intrigue. After the Harry Potter series, I never thought I'd discover a magical world that was equally as inventive and exciting. But Vee R. Paxton opens up the readers eyes to a whole new world that's breathtaking. What a wild ride!
Rape is not an acceptable minor plot point. If an author is going to include it, then it needs to be done justice with the trauma and recovery that comes with it. You don't just shake it off and immediately jump back into bed with the hunger you barely remember. Kidnapping, sure. But for crying out loud if you're gonna go with the trope of the husband bursting through with the sword it needs to be BEFORE.
Lazlo finds himself smitten with commoner potions girl Margorie and manages to get himself tied to her in a future marriage contract. But she disappears for 10 years and has no memory of her past or her love, Lazlo. When gran dies, she finds herself pulled to his manor again to solve a mystery of her past only to get pulled into his world again.
This tale of magic and long lost love had me hooked from the first chapter. I found myself rooting for Lazlo but then kinda not as well. The ending was quite satisfying but still left me wanting more… I really hope there is another book in the works.
