I loved and hated these books.
The first book Cain and Violet.
Cain is a recluse who feels that he doesn’t deserve any happiness. After a mistake in the army led to him being the only survivor. When he hears a call for help he finds Violet stuck in a bog. He saves her life and takes her back to his cottage. Violet is on the run from her violent and abusive husband. They fall in love, but she’s still in danger.
So a couple of major points for me. Violet passes out and wakes up in his bed. She gets up and goes to the kitchen. No mention of going to the bathroom. She mentions that it’s been two days since she had a shower. The next day, the third day, they have sex and he pleasures her. Urgh!!!!! So gross!!!!!
Lots of wrong words used. Some of them were funny, some were really annoying!
Alex and Blake.
Alex goes back home when her singing/ performing career doesn’t happen. When she’s pulling into town the local sheriff, Blake, pulls her over, as her car is blowing smoke and chugging along. Alex has always had a massive crush on Blake who is her brothers best friend. Blake gives her a lift in the police car back to town, and because she’s been away from town for a few years, Blake DOESN’T RECOGNISE HER!!!! After a few years???? Really????
Blake is ten years older and thinks it’s wrong to want Alex. But he can’t help following her around town. When her apartment is broken into, Alex takes her back to his house. And they fall in love. Yes really that quick!!!
This book was even worse for spelling mistakes and wrong words!!!
Mac and the really annoying Sam.
Sam is a lawyer who has to leave New York urgently as her life is in danger. As she tried to build a case against a mobster. This is where I have a huge problem with this book. She works in a massive law firm and she was prosecuting a mobster? Erm, she’s not a prosecutor, so that wouldn’t happen!!!
She buys a dilapidated inn and doesn’t do anything for two months apart from drink and meet her friends. Okay. Mac who is Scottish and owns a pub where Sam goes all the time, has wanted her, since she moved to town. She’s really obnoxious with him all the time, and I’ve no idea why he likes her. He agrees to help her do up the inn if she sleeps with him. So they have amazing sex and then she turns into a bitch again. Yay!!!! He tells her he’s always loved her and she realises that she’s a horrible person and she loves him. Yawn......
Big mistakes in this one!!! Sam looks at Mac’s arse all the time and thinks how sexy he looks in his jeans. Later on he’s wearing his ‘usual’ kilt???? Erm, he hasn’t worn it up to now!!! And just because he’s Scottish, doesn’t mean he’s always wearing his kilt!!! In Alaska where everyone always has to dress really warmly, even in summer, he’s supposedly wearing his kilt! Oh good grief!
So all three books are over really quickly and the writing is not great. But.... Sex scenes are hot, and I loved how chivalrous the men are. The first two women are a bit useless but sweet, and Sam is horrid.
I would say that if you’re really bored and get these books free, then give them a go.

Her Mountain Man Collection, Journeys Close series, Books 1-3 by Gia Bailey is a heartwarming,emotional,sweet,steamy and enjoyable mountain men romance stories that will tugged your heartstring..a women who needs protection and the mountain men who will protected them in any harm..loved it! i enjoy reading this collection..well done!

I am so glad for box sets. These lovely stories have interconnected characters that make appearances across stories. Three women searching for a safe place. all end up in Journey's Close. Three mountain men that will do absolutely anything to win the hearts of the women that captured their hearts. Danger, fear and disappointment are no obstacles to earn the love the men hope for.. I enjoyed this romance box set with all of the characters. There are three stories in this box set. All of the stories had action, adventure, drama, and suspense within. There are a few secrets to. All of the stories had me laughing and giggling within. All of the stories has a bit of steamy to.

The author has given us a wonderful collection of stories that pull us into the lives of the characters. These men and women become our friends and we follow their stories with bated breath.
