It’s Christmastime in Compass Cove and love is in the air…
With her well-connected Long Island family, an exciting job as a London art dealer, and a brilliant, attentive boyfriend, Natalie Miller’s life was golden. Until it wasn’t. No one knows about the anxiety that drives her, the loyalty forcing her to make impossible choices, or the secrets consuming her. Now back in Compass Cove, Natalie is fielding questions from her family about what brought her home and longs for the life—and the love—she left behind.
University professor and aristocrat James Phillips prides himself on understanding people, so it mystifies him when the love of his life leaves London—and him—without explanation. When an opportunity to work at a small college in Natalie’s backyard arises, James jumps at the chance to move across the pond, willing to do whatever it takes to win back the heart of the woman he loves.
Can the magic of Compass Cove at the most wonderful time of the year help James and Natalie find their way back to each other?
Award-winning, USA Today bestselling author Jeannie Moon has always loved stories. The author of nineteen contemporary romances, Jeannie is married to her high school sweetheart, has three grown kids and two grandchildren, and has lived on Long Island, NY, her whole life. A retired teacher and librarian, Jeannie is also an editor and author coach with a growing freelance practice.
If she's more than ten miles away from salt water for any longer than a week, she gets twitchy.
My Christmas Wish by Jeannie Moon is book four in the Compass Cove series. This can be read as a stand alone. I have read, AND LOVED, book one in this series but not any of the others. This was such a lovely story of a second chance romance. The characters were wonderful and I absolutely adore this family and the closeness they share. This book was full of so much love.
Natalie Miller is thirty two years old and is part of one of the founding families of Compass Cove. She has been living in England, working for a prestigious art gallery and also dating a man that she adores. They have been dating for several months and it’s obvious to both of them that things are getting serious. Until something happens at Natalie’s work and she suddenly starts packing to leave, ending things with her boyfriend with no explanation.
James Phillips is forty years old. He actually has a title in England, his family very prestigious. His mother and step father enjoy flaunting their titles but James does not. He has grown to care deeply for Natalie and is devastated when she leaves. When an opportunity is presented to him to teach at a small college near where he knows Natalie’s home town is, he quickly accepts. He’s not sure if he will find her but he is determined to try and reconnect with her to try to fix things.
“James was a nobleman, a scholar, and an officer, he didn’t deal with sentimentality. But with Nat, his heart was lost.”
Natalie is shocked when she comes face to face with James. Her heart has been broken since she left. But Natalie can’t tell James why she left. What he doesn’t know is that she is protecting him. She has to keep her secrets and she needs to stay away from him. But the connection between them is too strong. As well as a little bit of Compass Cove magic.
These two were such wonderful people. I knew from the beginning that they belonged together. I love this family so much. The love between them all is just heart warming. This was a feel good, holiday romance that made my heart happy.
Sweet story. Loved the characters and the town of Compass Cove. Christmas described in this quaint little village was beautiful and the lore of the town and its past was original and engaging. I have not yet read the previous books in this series but having met the couples here in My Christmas Wish,. I'm looking forward to it.
James and Natalie were a believable couple. I felt the chemistry and the love they had for each other. Despite the obstacles they faced, James was determined to get to the bottom of why Natalie left him so abruptly. I admit that the first chapters are a bit slow and as a result, I put this book down a couple of times. But once it started to move along at a steadier pace with a more engaging story, I could not put it down.
There is a bit of angst, a lot of secondary character involvement, humor and a sweet, endearing ending. I definitely recommend this book to those who not just love romance but also small town holiday influence.
While I received an advance reading copy of My Christmas Wish, this is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)
The first thing that hooked me on this romance was the characters. And the second thing was the place--Compass Cove was an incredible landscape and town and I wish there was a Compass Cove on Long Island so I could go there. I haven't read the previous books in the series, but this one stood well on its own. Heat level: contains at least two or three steamy scenes.
Christmas is the perfect time to fall back in love.
When Natalie broke up with James and left London, to move back to New York, James was left wondering what happened. When he was offered a temporary job on Long Island, he jumped didn’t think twice about it. He took the job hoping he would be able to see Natalie again.
After an incident at the art gallery that Natalie worked at, she had no choice but to go back home. She wasn’t allowed to tell anyone about what really happened that night at the gallery, not even James. Natalie was now starting her life over in her home town of Compass Cove. The day she sees James, she couldn’t believe her eyes. What was he doing there? Even though her feelings for him were still strong, she knew they couldn’t be together. But James still loves Natalie and he will do whatever it takes to get her back.
I enjoyed returning to the Compass Cove series. As always, it’s fun to see what the characters from past books are up to, but learning about new love interests is always the best. I really enjoyed Compass Cove at Christmas. It seemed like such a magical place.
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the 4th book in the Compass Cove series and it was truly a fantastic book. Jeannie Moon is a wonderful author and I have read and loved every one of her books. James and Natalie were a couple while she was working in London until his stepfather steps in causing trouble and threatens Natalie with blackmail if she doesn’t leave London and James. Not wanting to cause any problems she heads home to her hometown in Compass Cove. When a friend offers James a job at a college in Natalie’s hometown how can he turn down an opportunity to see her. Now they have to deal with their families and get through all the issues in their way. Can love prevail through it all? This book is a must read to see if and how they manage to sort everything through with a surprise along the way. Another wonderful book by one of my favorite authors.
I don’t know what’s wrong with me. But just about every book I’ve been looking forward to reading this year has ended up being a disappointment. And now I have to add this one to that list as well.
I loved the first book of this series - it started me on my love of Jeannie Moon. I devoured Then Came You, then immediately read three more Jeannie Moon books. But the rest of this series, and everything she’s released recently, has failed to move me the way many of her earlier books have. Is it me? Is it different writing? I don’t know. I just know I feel like there’s a lot of fluff and not much substance.
SO much of My Christmas Wish didn’t go over well with me. Miscommunication makes me cranky. But you know what else makes me cranky? Keeping secrets for no good reason. The heroine had a marginally reasonable rationale for leaving the hero behind in London without telling him what happened. But not telling her friends and family...because if she did there could be repercussions for them…all the way over in the US? I’m not buying it.
And the thing that made me the most cranky is that so many important relationship moments happened off page. Confrontation with meddling family? Off page. Huge reveal? Off page. I can’t even go into them because I’d be spoiling too much of the story.
If this were supposed to be women’s fiction, the slow pace while the author creates a world reminiscent of a Hallmark holiday movie would be fine. But that’s not why I read Jeannie Moon. Give me the drama! Give me the arguments, give me the hard discussions...the difficult decisions. Dig deep and give me the meat. If a character is supposed to be plagued with anxiety and self-doubt I damn well want to SEE it and not just be told about it. In my mind I can see Compass Cove, the college where the hero works, the art gallery the heroine opened. But I feel absolutely zero chemistry between them. And if you don’t have that, you don’t have a romance story.
Maybe my problem is unrealistically high expectations. Maybe I’ve read too much and, true to addict-like behavior, what used to satisfy me no longer does. All I know is I keep looking for something in this author’s books that I’m no longer finding and it makes me incredibly sad.
* thank you to the author for providing and ARC in exchange for an honest review
A sweet lovely read to get you into the mood for the holidays.
On the outside, Natalie Miller's life looks like everything is perfect. She has a wonderful British boyfriend who just happens to be a viscount; she is working in the art world at a London gallery. She has a large family back in Compass Cove who annoy her and love her. But things aren't always as they seem. Her boyfriend's step-father however is basically a scummy piece of trash you want to scrap off the bottom of your shoe as fast as you can. He is behind an incident that results in Natalie leaving London and heading home.
Viscount Linden or Lord Linden if you prefer is really just plain old James Phillips a history professor and writer who had no control of being born into an aristocratic family. Natalie had no clue about his title when she first met him nor for a while afterwards. He was just a regular guy who she fell in love with. James can't understand why Natalie has left him with no word. So when he is offered the temporary position of head of the history department at a small college on Long Island, he takes advantage of the offer so he can't get away from his life in England. Turns out the college is located in the town where Natalie is from and they meet up again.
Things move along at a quick pace after these two star crossed lovers meet up again and realize that their love is still there. But of course, Natalie is still keeping the secret of the truth behind why she left London without a word. And James is keeping a secret of his own which is he has a very good idea of why Natalie left and that his step=father was involved. Can these two find a way to unravel these secrets? Definitely once the magic of Compass Cove is involved.
I liked this book since it was fast paced and well written. It wasn't heavy on the holiday theme but it was a part of the story. I did receive a copy of this novel in advance from the publisher in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
I received this arc from Tule Publishing of My Christmas Wish. This is the 4th book in the Compass Cove series by Jeannie Moon. This book was so good. I wanted to give it extra stars! Book 4 is Natalie Miller’s story. We were introduced to her in the prior books and I was interested in hearing about her story. She returned from living and working in an art gallery in London after an incident. She came home to Compass Cove in time for her brother’s wedding and announced to everyone’s surprise that she was staying home. We learn she had a steady boyfriend James who is a history professor at Cambridge that she was in love with. The incident involved James’s stepfather and his threats against James and her family.
Natalie has decided to stay and open her own gallery with her first showing that of her childhood friend Liam Jennings. Liam made beautiful glass ornaments and objects that Natalie is excited to show. Meanwhile, James was approached to come as the temporary History chairman at Jennings College in Compass Cove, not realizing the association with Natalie and her family. James meets Natalie’s various family members and vows to get her back in his life. Natalie is totally surprised to see James and realizes however how much she loves him. She ponders whether she can get him to stay in the US as she know she can’t return to the UK because of his family.
The story has many twists in Natalie and James’ relationship. In addition, we see the family dynamics between Natalie and her siblings and sister in laws and theirs with James. There are a few surprises I didn’t expect but I loved the storyline as Ms Moon told the readers. I found James warm and delightful and Natalie to be so sweet and genuine. I’m hoping there’s a fifth, maybe even a sixth book as this is an amazing series. Kudos to Jeannie!
WOW!! I loved, loved, loved revisiting Compass Cove with Natalie and James in My Christmas Wish, book four in her Compass Cove series. Once again she made me fall in love with her hero and heroine, James and Natalie, not that it was difficult to do; warming my heart and making me cry with their emotional story. This is a story taking readers between London and Compass Cove, a Long Island hamlet; with the reminder that true love knows no distance, as well as no boundaries.
When Natalie Miller’s life crashes and is forced to leave her amazing job as a London art dealer, she know returning to her family and their Long Island home, in the hamlet of Compass Cove, is her safest bet. Leaving her brilliant, caring, romantic boyfriend, James was going to be very difficult. University professor James Phillips prides himself on understanding people, so he is confused when the love of his life leaves London, and him, without explanation. When an opportunity to work at a small college in Natalie’s backyard comes available, James jumps at the chance to move closer to Natalie, wanting and hoping to win back the heart of the woman he loves.
There is definitely magic in the town of Compass Cove, magic that helps Natalie and James reconnect. The magic and love would also give Natalie the confidence to open up and share the reasons for her flight from London and James. There is also the love and support of family, reminding Natalie she is not alone. Natalie was the yin to James’ yang and sun to his moon. James knew that Natalie was his true north, the direction where his heart belonged and his life began. They would not be able to outrun fate, no matter who tried to interfered and keep them apart.
Ms. Moon wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, clever banter, and endearing characters giving Natalie and Jack a chance at true love and having a future together. I highly recommend My Christmas Wish to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
My Christmas Wish by Jeannie Moon It’s Christmastime in Compass Cove and love is in the air… With her well-connected Long Island family, an exciting job as a London art dealer, and a brilliant, attentive boyfriend, Natalie Miller’s life was golden. This is James Phillips and Natalie Miller's story. “James, please go away.” No doubt he wanted to be her knight. “Natalie, open the door.” Now James sounded pissed. While she always wanted a man to be desperate for her, this wasn’t what she had in mind. He was pounding the door now. “Natalie!” Natalie Miller didn’t run away from challenges. Not recently, anyway. But what was a girl to do after clocking an aristocrat in the nose with a semi-valuable piece of art? It had been a month since what had been dubbed “the incident” came to pass, and after her most recent conversation, there was no returning to her life in the city she called home. My Christmas Wish by Jeannie Moon is a 4 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Jeannie Moon. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
My past visits to Compass Cove have been a series of wonderful mini vacations to this quaint and lovely small town. But there’s something extra magical when the holidays are celebrated in this coastal community. When Natalie moves home after an incident on the job at an art gallery, she’s not sure where her life is headed, Natalie is missing James and keeping most of the events that brought her home from friends and family. When James hears a rumor concerning his family’s role in driving away Natalie, he decides to take a job at Jennings College, which is coincidentally located in Natalie’s home town. He hopes to talk with Natalie, hoping to get her back. Or let her go if that’s her wish. Natalie is such a strong woman, but that facade hides self doubt and anxiety. James’ proper upbringing is charming, but there’s fire, humor and intelligence in man, as well. Not only does this couple have chemistry to spare, but they share laughter and friendship as well. Their story is relatively low on angst but huge on feelings. While I have read the whole series and am familiar with many of the secondary characters, a new reader will have no problem enjoying this book. In fact, I’m sure they’ll be motivated to go back and enjoy the previous stories. My Christmas Wish is one of my very favorite books of the year. The characters, the setting and the stories were so beautifully written, I could almost hear their voices and feel the breezes off the ocean. Natalie and James will warm you, heart and soul.
Natalie, an artist, has returned home to Compass Cove, leaving behind her prestigious job as an art dealer, and her beloved boyfriend James. Evading her family's questions about why, she's trying to figure out what to do next, when suddenly James is in her hometown and working at the local college.
James is heartbroken over Natalie's leaving, with so many unanswered questions. A job opportunity in her hometown, combined with some info from his brother, is the catalyst to travel to the US. Their unexpected meeting doesn't go well at all.
One thing's for sure, there's still a spark... true love between them. But they have to find a way to deal with what happened in London to find their way back to each other.
As Natalie works to open a new gallery, James is there to help in any way, and he makes a plan to find a way for him to live in both countries, but he needs Natalie to open up.
A wonderful surprise is revealed which will change both of their lives, and it could be the miracle they need to find their way back into each other's arms, and hearts, forever--with a little Christmas magic, and a lot of love and support, it might just happen.

This book was a reminder of why I fell in love with Jeannie Moon's writing in the first place. From the small-town setting to the complicated family dynamics and then the second-chance romance feels, I enjoyed the heck out of this book. Yes, it's the fourth in a current series, but I didn't feel lost or like I was missing vital information. My curiosity, however, was piqued regarding established couples who made appearances, so I shall be poking around the author's back list and check out the previous titles in the Compass Cove series. I liked Natalie and James and enjoyed seeing how their relationship, which I feel was more on pause after she left London, finally flourished once it was free of expectations and machinations. My Christmas Wish was a light holiday romance with a dash of angst, and left me very satisfied and content by the end, and it receives 4.5 stars.
My Christmas Wish is the fourth book in Jeannie Moon’s Compass Cove series. Natalie Miller and James Phillips were happy living in London until an incident with his stepfather changed it all. She returns to Compass Cove lost and unsure of her future after having walked away from her job and Phillip.
Phillip is clueless as to why Natalie returned home. When he is offered a job in Long Island, he jumps at the chance hoping he can reconnect with Natalie.
Will Natalie and Phillip have a second chance at finding their happily ever after? This is a wonderful addition to the series. It is definitely a standalone book. My Christmas Wish is the perfect holiday read that I highly suggest reading along with the other books in the series.
I received an advance copy which I chose to read and review. This is my honest opinion.
Can Christmas in Compass Cove offer some magic that would help Natalie and James back to each other? I love visiting Compass Cove and this was no exception. Natalie returns home to Compass Cove from England after an incident at the art gallery that she worked at. Jame's parents own the art gallery. James has no idea why Natalie leaves but he will do anything to win her back. James accepts a job at the small college near Compass Cove. They still can not deny the love and passion that they share but will Natalie's secret change everything.
An emotional story of family, Christmas traditions and forgiveness. A well written story that I had a hard time putting down. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.
I am so glad to see this series continue with My Christmas Wish being the fourth book in the Compass Cove Series. I must say it has been a while since a book in the series has been published. However Jeannie Moon’s new book was worth the wait in this second chance story. It is really more of a not-going-to-give-up-on-us story too.
My Christmas Wish has a lovely couple with some lovely family and some family not so much so. The magical Christmas setting along with the town of Compass Cove seems to say anything is possible especially for two to work through the problems. Ms. Moon does an amazing job of making you love Natalie, James, Christmas in Compass Cove, and the confidence in Christmas wishes coming true.
4.5 Stars An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A New York gallery director living in London and a Viscount of England find each other. His family doesn't approve of this match and run her off. Natalie goes home to Compass Cove heartbroken. With the help of her grandmother, she finds her true direction. James takes a position on Long Island, New York hoping to see Natalie again. Who knew the college was just a stone's throw from Compass Cove. A Christmas romance perfect to read with hot cocoa in front of the tree, or on the beach in July. It will warm your heart.
We are back in Compass Cove with another of Miller siblings. Natalie left London, her job as an art dealer and her boyfriend, when her boss, her boyfriend’s stepfather, blackmailed her. Not wanting to hurt her boyfriend Lord James Phillip she leaves him and returns home to Compass Cove. Both are still hurting and when an opportunity to teach in Long Island in a college near Natalie’s home, James decides to try and get Natalie back. In this story about family, trust, new beginnings and hope, you will be transported to a place filled with hope and love. Though I am still partial to the previous stories, it was still entertaining and engaging. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This was the first book I've read in this series. A second chance romance in a small town at Christmas time. For me, it doesn't get any better than that. This book was well written and hit me in all the feels. I thought the hero and heroine had a great chemistry. I was engaged in the story from the first to the last page. If you can only choose one holiday book this season, choose to read this one! Huge thanks to the author for allowing me to read and review an ARC of this book. My opinions are my own.
My Christmas Wish was my first introduction to Compass Cove. A smooth Christmas love story, My Christmas Wish flowed from beginning to end. Natalie and James were engaging amongst an entertaining cast of characters. Just enough angst to make me root for Natalie and James. My Christmas Wish was worth the read. I imagine if you've followed the series you'd enjoy a peek at the continuing lives of the past stories.
Author Jeannie Moon never fails to bring joy into my life with her holiday cheer. My Christmas Wish is her latest book and it is a wonderful holiday read. This romance novel grabs you right from the beginning and the heart-stirring journey never lets up. The two primary characters, Natalie Miller and James Phillips, have amazing chemistry, and their romantic courtship is replete with discovery, desire and love. Ms. Moon is a talented storyteller and her words kept me glued to my seat. This is the fourth book the Compass Cove series, and it can be thoroughly enjoyed as a standalone. However, the first three books should not be missed.
Another fun Christmas romance to get you into the festive spirit and this one will melt your heart
Natalie is living the perfect life working at a gallery in London and in a relationship with James but his Uncle blackmails her and forces her to return to America. James is devastated nd cannot understand what happened so when he is offered a position in the Us he doesn't hesitate as he is determined to get answers and win Natalie back. Can they rebuild a future together and will their families cause even more drama You will have to read to see if they finally get a HEA
What a wonderful Christmas read. This is the forth book in the series and it is a second chance romance book. Natalie and James were great together. I loved their story. I found it to be sweet, entertaining and even intriguing in parts. From the very beginning it was a real page turner. I would highly recommend. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Natalie Miller thought she had it all, working in London as an art dealer and a boyfriend that so handsome, he could make any heart flutter in admiration. But it all came crashing down hard when her boyfriend’s family didn’t agree with their relationship so set an event that had her have to pack up quickly and run for her hometown or face consequences. While she is upset at first, another part of her is happy to be home for it’s allowing her imagination of what she can do next to work tirelessly. If what she is thinking about goes right then it would have endless possibilities. But then James shows up in her town of all places, can she handle seeing him again? Would she finally be able to tell him the true reason why she left and that her love for him never stopped.
James Phillips had what he thought was a perfect life, being a professor at a very prestigious university in England, a nice place and Natalie who he loved with all his heart. But then she left him without a true explanation and he was a confused man with a broken heart. So when a friend offered him a temporary position with the college that just so happened to be near where Natalie lived he took it. For he was willing to do anything to get back his true love and a chance to find out why she left. But was he prepared for the answers she would give him? Along with another surprise or two along the way?
This couple had magic right from the start, anyone who saw them together knew that. They could get back together but it would require a little bit of help from their family, friends and a little Christmas spirit in order for Natalie and James to be the couple so many dream of being.
This is the 4th book in the Compass Cove series by Jeannie Moon but it can be read alone. While I am not suppose to really have my favorites, I must say this is one of mine. It’s one of those that you can read multiple times and each time it touches your heart. The magic, the connection, the love, everything in this book is just so incredible. It is definitely a book to be added to your must read pile and keep!!
After an altercation with her boyfriend’s step-father, Natalie returns home to Compass Cove. Soon after, her boyfriend James takes a position at the local college. He doesn’t understand why Natalie left, just that she did, and quickly. When Natalie and James realize they are in the same town, James decides he will do what it takes to win Natalie back. My Christmas Wish is a second chance story with great characterization and a solid storyline. Jeannie Moon created a wonderful, small town with an interesting back story. This is my first in the series and I am excited to read those that fell before this one. Highly recommend!
I loved this book! I loved it so much, I had to go back and re-read the first three Compass Cove books. The thing I love best about Jeannie Moon books are that her characters are so real. The town of Compass Cove is simply delightful and I so wish I could visit there. I'm kind of sad this is the last story for Compass Cove. I truly love Natalie - what a spunky heroine! And James, her once and future love, is simply elegant. This story moved me, and that it is set during the Christmas season is such a bonus. I love reading love stories at Christmas. They make me so happy. If you read no other Christmas romance...read this one!
I want to move to Compass Cove. I really enjoy the characters in this series and this most recent book really lived up to the rest. I had fun seeing how things unfolded and loved the warmth and family in the books.
Natalie is back in her home town of Compass Cove, after having left London and her boyfriend James behind. His family set her up to get rid of her, but James follows her and wants answers. Will he choose her over his family?
A great festive read, set in the run up to Christmas.
British aristocracy may try but it is no match for true love especially when the couple is so perfectly matched. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
