The epic conclusion to the new comic series tying into V. E. Schwab’s critically acclaimed villains novels! Charlotte Tills finally comes face to face with the deadly EO killer – Eli Ever.
VICTORIA “V. E.” SCHWAB is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of more than twenty books, including the acclaimed Shades universe, the Villains series, the City of Ghosts series, Gallant, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and The Fragile Threads of Power. When not haunting Paris streets or trudging up English hillsides, she can usually be found in Edinburgh, Scotland, tucked in the corner of a coffee shop, dreaming up monsters.
A very fun end to this series. I enjoyed the confrontation and all the side characters we met along the way. I am intrigued in Mia’s backstory/power so I’m hoping we get to see these characters again in Vengeful (wishful thinking?).
“You stupid children. Don’t you understand? You are an abomination. I am the sword of God.”
This issue was fantastic! Charlotte and her new friends have broken into the EON facility to free a captured friend, Mia. Charlotte also has a personal mission: kill EO hunter Eli Ever before he can kill her. I really liked how this issue ended this arc and the cliffhanger at the end was super exciting! I can't wait for issue five.
Charlotte, Felix, Marshall and Mia are all nice, and I hope the future issues will develop them as a team but also as individual characters. Charlotte is the only character I feel like I really know, apart from Eli and Victor of course. Felix is especially interesting to me - I really want to see how they got their electricity powers. It would be cool to have some flashbacks for them, but also for Marshall and Mia, in the future.
I've been enjoying this series so far. This first arc was overall pretty alright - some of the issues weren't as exciting, but I am definitely intrigued for the future of Charlotte and her new EO pals. And, naturally, I can't wait to see what Schwab has in store for my boys Victor and Eli!
Hated every second of this. It doesn't work in-universe, it doesn't stand on its own, and it clearly wasn't necessary to set Vengeful up. This could have been a prelude or an interlude in the book and it would have worked way better. In this form, it has zero of the complexity of Vicious, it even takes some away from it by changing how the story happened in small yet crucial ways, and it only works for people who have read the book(s). And the fact it can't even be enjoyable as its own thing means it can't be forgiven for the previous point.
Utterly disappointing, and the graphics didn't bring anything new to the table. I truly hope this isn't something the author will try again in-between Vengeful and Victorious.
Oooooh, nice cliffhanger! I wasn't sure the Vicious world would translate well to comic format, but I should have known better. Victoria's narrative style tends to translate well to other mediums because her storytelling is incredible. And although I basically love everything she writes I am also aware of how she tends to have a pacing problem - mostly the lack of it on the first act of her books. Here that doesn't happen - the pacing is perfectly executed and things just work out.
I really wish there was more action. I feel like there's a lot of recap from the original duology which is beneficial for new readers but a waste of money for existing readers who just want a fresh new adventure within the same universe. Villains is by far one of my favourite stories ever and I love all the characters within it but I just wish this EO series had more to offer.
Man, I still feel like this was way too short for what I wanted it to be, but uhhhhhh, excuse me. V, you have some explaining to do about that ending, ma'am. That better come into play with this mysterious book 3 that we might get someday down the line!
I like the expansion of this world, though I do feel the characters felt far too similar to other characters already on the novels. I would have preferred either following characters from the novel or having the characters in this being unique and not carbon copies of others.
I’m not a big comic person usually, but I love the villains universe so much that I had to check out this four part series and I must say, it was pretty easy and fun to read. Though, they did my boy Eli dirty lmao
