The four-by-four heaves its way down long, twisting lanes, little more than dirt tracks scuffed into the surrounding fields and hemmed in by serpentine walls of flat, grey stone. They truly are in the middle of nowhere: the countryside rushes past, all rolling green hills and vast, endless skies, and it's odious. Sirius wants to murder James with his bare hands. Sirius and James accidentally find themselves on a Yorkshire farm during lambing season. The farmer’s son thinks that’s a bit annoying, actually.
Aaaaa this was sooo good. It just manages to submerge you in the world of the green hills and English farms and lambs being born. Idk how it does it but it just makes me long to go back to England and stay in a cottage and find love and spend all summer in the hills riding horses and caring for sheep. I should've read this last summer while I was there, it would've felt so different. This is one of those stories that you'll be thinking about even when you're not reading it. It was like the perfect length as well. I love the characterisation and the animals and the way that this story literally only has like 6 characters. I love the way this book made me feel at some times and how I was smiling all through the last chapter, I just couldn't help it.
"Maybe he was right... when he said you can meet the perfect person in the most unexpected place."
Such a beautiful read.😭 It was so funny how, by a literal accident, they both ended up on the farm, and Sirius's internal monologue of "I'm going to kill James" — but he ends up never wanting to leave. The story itself was so wholesome and full of love; I could practically feel like I was there with them, with the sheep and Hope's delicious food. So cozy, so beautiful.
"Sirius thinks dazedly now that this is where he could stay forever. Warm and safe, with Remus held tightly in his arms.
This feels like home."
Sirius's characterization was everything to me — so soft, so precious, so kind. GOD, I loved him. I absolutely fell in love with Snuffles, my sweet, sweet baby, and the way Sirius saw himself reflected in him: the black sheep of the family, how his mother didn't want him, but that wasn’t the baby’s fault. 😭 Sobbing. Sirius said Remus would be an amazing father one day, but I'm sure he would be too. Now I need a continuation with them having children.
Cecil and Snuffles were so freaking cute, and now they're my standard for love — I'm not even joking, lol. The whole portrayal of coming out and being afraid of who you are was so on point and so beautifully written. I absolutely loved it. This whole story felt like a hug to the soul.
"The sun sets the yard ablaze every evening. It's different now, and Sirius knows this must be a rare and precious thing because he just can't imagine ever feeling like this with anyone else, with anyone but Remus. He can't imagine anyone after Remus."
how cute was this. the sheep farm vibe thing was so sooo different from what I normally read, but i loved how wolfstar was portrayed in it. also, i loveeeee sirius pov
favorite parts: - sirius adopting the black sheep bc the mom didn’t want it😭the analogy hurt more than it should’ve - the little movie thing they would do every week - sirius in the shower= enough said LMAO - when sirius and remus were looking up at the stars😩😩 _________________________________________________

4.75 rounding up Don’t know why this isn’t more popular. Maybe this is just a me thing (you know I LOVE the Yorkshire dales in media…) but aside from that, it’s just a very comforting and well-written fanfiction. Felt like a real novel. There’s not much I can say on here that’ll make sense unless you read it, but it’s really, really fun. Great tension too! The only thing that took me out of the story was the repetition of phrases and adjectives. There are a few that are used just too many times to justify. I’m sure there are similar words to “golden”. Could’ve used with another beta. Other than that, completely spectacular.
Never would have thought a work about sirius falling for remus the sheep farmer would make it into my top five favourite fanfictions of all time, but here we are.
‘perhaps Remus is really here, now, kissing him as if he were drowning and Sirius were salvation itself.’
I am truly awestruck at the brilliance of this authors writing. Each chapter was incredibly well structured and fluid in its plot. There was not a moment that the story didn’t fully enthral me.
Also, I now know far more about lambing season than I ever thought I would.
I rate this a 4 maybe 4.25 stars I really enjoyed the story and the build up I liked the characters in it as well minus like 3 of them but we weren’t meant to like those people anyways the story was a cute fast and fun read I really enjoyed the writing as well at some bits i wish we got a little bit more though but I still loved the story
