A cat, an accident, and a pile of mixed-up letters send a bride to a man she otherwise would never have met. Only time will tell if she and this new marriage can survive the match.
Francine 'Francy' Dinsmore loses the security she's always known with the death of her father. Life so far has treated Francy tenderly and expected very little from her. Beau LeFevre abandons a hopeless future to venture west. The only thing he needs before he leaves is a wife. When the elegant woman arrives from the matchmaker, he marries her wondering all the while what made the matchmaker send this bride to him.
How can he make a marriage work with this spoiled woman? Life on the trail leads him to believe someone made a mistake!
Will this turn out to be a happy accident and a sound pairing with the only woman who can win his heart?
I can’t say I enjoyed reading this book. There was no chemistry between Beau and Francie. The mil, Myrtle, seemed to enjoy being mean and saying hateful things. I thought Beau have reprimanded his mother for her behavior towards his new wife. There were very few incidents as the wagon train moved along, and those were always dealt with immediately so there was no suspense there. The ending was rushed, again there was no story development. The story was okay but was not a page turner.
The author has penned a sweet and heartwarming story with some humor thrown in and one rife with human frailties. This is Francine ("Francy") Dinsmore and Beau LeFavre's story and the character development is excellent. Francy, who has pretty much lived a life of ease, suddenly finds herself adrift and decides to become a MOB. Beau decides to head west but first he needs a wife so advertises for a MOB. Francy on finding a future husband heads west thinking she is marrying a man of means with a nice house for her to oversee. Imagine her surprise when she arrives and finds Beau is a farmer who is heading west via a wagon train. Beau is filled with doubts when he finds out Francy cannot cook, does not know how to dress for such a trip, or do any of the things that women are required to do on such a rigorous trip. Will the couple ever be able to work through their differences? When Francy's life is at stake, will Beau be able to protect her and will they be able to find out who is after Francy and why? Through it all, will they both be able to come to the realization that maybe each of them were just what the other needed? Will they be able to find their HEA? Be sure to read this great book to find out. It is one of those books that is a real page turner and you may find you will want to read it a second time. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Another great book by Ms Masterson. She takes her writing skills and draws you into the time and setting of her books. Take a girl WAY out of her league, a trusting loving young man, a heart harden older woman, a wagon train, a kidnapping, an investigator and you have the story. It was a little weak in the beginning of middle of the story but quickly picked back up. This is part of a series but you don’t have to read the others to know what’s going on they are all independent reads with a cat and mixed up letters as their similarity. There is no sexual references or language so I can recommend this to anyone who wants a good story. ( there is small references about a wedding night, or “what newlyweds do” but nothing that a young reader would misunderstand) You’ll not regret your time on this one.
My true and honest opinion after receiving this book as an Advanced Reading Copy.
This was a fun, fast read! Francy and Beau get mismatched when the matchmaker's cat swipes all of her carefully arranged papers to the floor. Francy was brought up not to ask questions, to do without question what she told, and feeling unloved as no one ever said they loved her or showed her they loved her. Beau has been treated cruelly because of his parentage, and even his mother is a bitter, unhappy woman. When Francy and Beau marry, she's sure it's not going to work, and starts planning the annulment, since his mother put that idea into her head. Beau, however, wants Francy to stay, and feels they can have a good life together. When Francy finally comes around to his way of thinking, can the mismatched pair really have things work for them??
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Who knew that a cat and a good-intentioned teenager could put together unlikely matches that worked? Francine/Francy and Beau LeFevre are one such couple. Francy’s father had requested a well-established businessman who could take care of her in the manner she was accustomed when he no longer could. Beau wanted a wife to accompany him on the wagon train west and help him on a new farm. What they go was each other. Marisa Masterson does a masterful job of writing strong characters and interesting storylines. Such a mismatch comes with danger and humor. This was a fun story to read.
A Sweet Story! I enjoyed this particular character combination of educated young lady, Francy and farmer, Beau, who find their trust and caring for each other and then falling in love. That cat sure did a great job this time! The story has been well written and is an easy, quick read which fits in so nicely with the others in this series. The characters are well rounded, each with strengths of their own and they tend to draw one into this lovely tale of love. My voluntary review above is written after reading an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book.
I really enjoyed this book! It is the first in this series that I have read but I will be going back to read previous books. Beau and Francy are very sweet, she is so very overwhelmed, unsure and sheltered that being thrust into a new life is very traumatising. But as Beau gently coaxes Francy through her new life, we see a stronger, happier and more loving Francy emerge, watching Francy grow in happiness and their love develop is heartwarming. A lovely historical romance which I read on Kindle Unlimited.
This is sweet and a bit funny mail order bride tale that was really messed up, but turns out beautifully. Beau is a simple young man on the verge of heading west in a wagon train with his mother. He sends for a specific mail order bride, but Francy is not what he was expecting. Francy is a very sheltered girl from a very well to find family. She had been taught all the ways of being rich and pampered and Beau is not what her father told her to expect either. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
A cute read, with a slice of mystery. Francy's father arranged a marriage for her but she was expecting to wed a businessman. Imagine the shock when she finds herself married and in the middle of a wagon train headed West, within hours of her arrival in St. Joseph. She doesn't feel they are suited but she has no family or friends to return to. Add in an extremely bitter mother-in-law and this could be the longest trek ever! If she makes it. Beau is such a great guy. He's had his own struggles in life. He's eager for a new start with his new wife. But will she stay with him? This was good.
When a cat pounces on a stack of matched letters he may prove that he knows more about matchmaking than his owner. This story is about how the two people matched have nothing in common and wanted the opposite of what they received in a mate. This story shows that if you put away your obvious differences and concentrate on any similarities, you may wind up with exactly the person you need in your life.
This was another great matchmaker mix up. A mixup because of a cat. Fancy and Beau are mix up match. Fancy is from a once wealthy family and Beau is a farmer heading West on the Oregon trail. Fancy has never done anything for herself always been told what to do. There is a little mystery in this read. Marisa Masterson has done an excellent job in writing this book. A good one to reread.
Beau and Franny want the opposite of the spouse they got when they wrote to a matchmaker. Sometimes you get what you didn't know you needed. Exciting story with mystery and romance and a crazy mix up at the matchmaker's office. Franny's life is in danger and Beau tries to keep her safe. This is a sweet romance story.
Beau- heading out west for land need and wanted a wife. Francy- pampered miss whose dad "suddenly" died. I enjoyed reading this engaging story that is well written with unforgettable characters. I really liked the H ( though his observation skills need lots of help) he knew she wasn't what he asked for but he was willing and wanting to make their marriage work. Their story has a loving HEA with a few questions about her dad.
This is a delightful story of a mail order bride who got her assigned groom mixed up and headed west on a wagon train. Romance takes place in the midst of confusion. The only downside to this book is it’s too short.
I find it hilarious how every book has a different situation that leads to the cat mixing up the matches and the granddaughter just mixing them up willy nilly.
That aside, I loved this Oregon trail match, and was tickled that I didn't guess the perpetrators!
I enjoyed this book a lot. I love seeing where the mix-up ends up. Its never a disappointment. I'm glad Francy and Beau found their love for each other. I recommend this book.
