A story of what it's like to be out of choice, and how to use our body as the navigator to getting back into choice. Autobiographical in a way that made me feel as if I was reading my own life story. I could see the places that I have erred and given up on choice, or made an incorrect choice. More importantly, I could see ways to go to those points NOW and forgive myself, restore choice, and get over things that had been holding me back for years.
This is a book I didn't want to end and will be revisited! In reading the author's beautifully woven story, I felt my heart open and was able to relate in a way that allowed me to see my own experiences in powerful new ways. As a student and teacher of Lightyear Leadership, I deeply appreciate being invited into Susanne's life story and walking along side of her as she transformed her very real life experiences into purpose and principles that have transformed me and my life. This book is wholehearted story we all can relate to of getting lost, getting found, learning to wrap our arms around our whole life and choosing love.
This fell somewhere between memoir and self-help book, and turned out to be neither. The only reason I kept going was because I was listening to the audiobook.
I appreciate the author's bravery in speaking so candidly about her life and especially those experiences so common to so many woman across the world. However, most of the time I didn't see how the life experience was linked to the lesson for that chapter 🤷🏾♀️. Maybe I was in a weird headspace, but I did get the essence of the idea that we should "get there now"
Also: the tone in some parts was a little too "white privilege-y" for my taste.
DNF: 38%. While advertised as a reflective, self help book for changing your perspective and owning your choices in life, is actually more of a memoir and collection of stories about the author’s personal and professional life. With tones of white privilege, this book missed the mark.
Sincere thanks to Greenleaf Book Group Press & NetGalley for an advanced listener copy.
What a masterful blend of memoir and inspiration! Susanne's voice is so clear from the first page. I giggled. I cried tears of happiness. I squirmed with shared discomfort. Each chapter is a new window into Susanne's extraordinary life!
So often in my life, I've felt at the mercy of circumstances or my own emotions. Thanks to this book, I feel a renewed commitment to living a life of choice. The tools I learned from Susanne and Get There Now support my commitment every day.
I am very pleased that this book was written, Dorothy Wood Espiau became my teacher in 2000 and I have been in many classes with Susanne and I applaud her willingness to write this book and to show those who read it the way to make new choices when necessary and set goals and live the life of their dreams realizing they do in fact have choice. I couldn't put this book down! it's such a refreshing and unexpectedly engaging read for a personal development and transformational oriented book. The story is riveting, relatable, and the weaving of the author's personal life experience and the core principles and wisdom takes what could be more leadership concepts and makes them so accessible, understandable, and applicable in all areas of life. I felt a deeper understanding of HOW to be loving, open, receptive, non-judgemental in every day moments. This book reads fast and light like fiction yet delivers like the very best advice and life insights you've ever received from the most important elders in your life. 100% felt an immediate shift in my entire perspective on life, a sense of empowerment, and a deeper satisfaction with the choices i've made. Thankyou Susanne- incredible read!
Get There Now is a memoir/development book, a fun and fresh combo! Confession--I read this book in 2 nights and felt like I had spent the whole day with Susanne. A fireside story-telling vibe. Susanne shares stories of hardship and triumph in a relatable and light way and gives the reader pause to determine where they have followed their truth vs. when they have veered off course. Questions like "How many other things have we accidentally or on purpose--through exhaustion resignation, pain, or the closing of our minds and hearts--placed in the not-for-me folder, the not-possible-so-why-bother folder?" guide the reader to their own transformation NOW. A powerful and fun read I didn't want to end! The perfect book club read.
A vulnerable book that reads as a memoir and personal development book. It's open, honest, and helpful. Her story telling style means you can picture the situations. Recommended for people that want to know how to change their lives, become happy or discover themselves. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Walk alongside Susanne, as she opens her life and let’s you in! Expect to laugh, cry, question, and dream - through her full of heart stories and the breakthrough processes she outlines in "Get There Now." From cover to cover, expect to be inspired, to question what you think you know, and to uncover what you came here to do in this lifetime.
Through story and clear, needed-now resources, Get There inspires me to keep pressing for good. I’ve read many books of faith or many books on “self help”. This is a beautiful blend, offering faith in action, and invites me, as the reader, to choose choice and take personal responsibility for a wildly good life.
Susanne navigates the reader through her life and learning experiences. Through her storytelling, she makes you feel like you can visualize the experience and you are there with her. A book you will not be able to put down. As soon as you finish it, you’ll want to read it again.
🚀 the book in 3 sentences 1. you don’t have to endure life, you can make your own way 2. people around you have such an impact on you 3. your genes don't define you
🎨 impressions At first, I was expecting a completely self-development book, with continuous advice, at, more theoretical, and then I realized it was born an autobiography and a “what I learned from my life” book. I thought “oh my god I did not ask for her whole life on paper” but the more I listened to it, the more I realized why it was necessary to have all the elements. Susanne Conrad is such an inspiring and strong woman, she grew so much, and I enjoyed the way she narrated her story with a funny but serious tone.
who should read it? Everyone! We all come from different places, have different experiences, but it does not mean that we are stuck or that we have failed. Everyone can go where they want because they decide to and want to. This book inspires us to get there now, and don’t wait for something magical to happen.
☘️ how the book changed me - doing more introspection, and looking at what I want and where I want to be, is it the case now? and if not, why? how can I change it? - there are so many things in life to do, I can’t let people or beliefs prevent me from doing what I am meant to do. - choose love, choose life. this is your body, your soul.
✍️ my top quotes How many other things have we accidentally or on purpose--through exhaustion resignation, pain, or the closing of our minds and hearts--placed in the not-for-me folder, the not-possible-so-why-bother folder?

The author Susanne shares stories of her life so the reader can understand who she is, and how her experiences has lead her to be a leader. Inside the stories are pearls of wisdom. This lady's journey was so far different than my own, it was interesting to read and see her perspectives. I hope her insights will reach others in a positive way.
Perhaps this book can help. Much of what's in this book can be found in other books; however, it's the way it's written that makes a difference. I recommend this book to anyone who is working toward change and a better life.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Get There Now offers a serene and enlightening exploration of mindfulness, energy, and self-discovery. With practical guidance and spiritual wisdom, it’s a perfect read for anyone looking to deepen their practice, enhance their well-being, and connect with their inner self.
This book was interesting. It was difficult to really understand what the purpose/topic was most of the time. It was more of a biography than anything else. There were some interesting ideas, not a lot of details.
Loved this book. The author used her own experiences to gently guide the reader to change or to think about things differently. Don't you want to Get There Now? This book delivers what it promises.
In this intimate story, Susanne Conrad shares how the slightest hesitation can affect your life profoundly. Susanne is a masterful storyteller, and shares with wisdom the learnings from her life and how she has applied them to create a life of joy, faith, and connection. Her powerful stories are remarkable, as she shares her nuanced insight into her life, from a flawed first marriage, birthing her first child, to working in a nuclear power plant. I loved all the stories, and felt a deeper appreciation for all the experiences that shaped a remarkable woman. I received an advance copy, and felt the book was truly a gift from Susanne to her readers and the world.
