Jacinta hadn’t found her anchors, but she’d found something else. Someone else. A voice who knew what was happening to her body and one that knew how to help her harness her power. The only problem was, she could only talk to him during her seizures and they were slowly stripping her of all her strength.

Already it hurt to walk because she had no padding left on her feet, and her gaunt appearance was startling to say the least. To make matters worse, Colonel Summerville wanted results and he was determined to do everything he could to get them.

Including triggering her events.

It seemed every time she began to recover, another event would push her health back even further. It was getting harder and harder to hold on, and Jacinta was becoming resigned to the fact her ability was going to kill her.

That was if Colonel Summerville or the Pure Human movement didn’t do it first.

Her team was standing with her, but with their resistance to her radiation, the spotlight was turning to them. Just how were they surviving her energy outbursts unless they were portals themselves?

Things were becoming more and more complicated and Jacinta was running out of strength to deal with it all. Would they find the answers in time to save her? Or would her clock run out?

This is a slow burn Reverse Harem series where the female lead will have more than one love interest and will not be requied to choose. Stellar was set on Earth and had a more urban fantasy vibe. Supernova builds on that but takes us into the stars.

Supernova is a book, packed with action and tension and contains scenes that may cause distress to some viewers, including but not limited to gun violence, explosives, and mentions of severe family dysfunction. This book is not suitable for readers under the age of 18 years.

Hi!
I'm "Jade" (pen name only). I'm a stay at home mother to three gorgeous young children. I've been writing stories since I was a little girl, but I have never had the confidence to share them. Finally a friend talked me into publishing something, so, "Siren" was born.

I ask you to be kind in your reviews. I know that you may not like what I write, but it doesn't mean that you have to be nasty about it. I don't understand people who feel the need to do that. My books cost less than a cup of coffee. If you didn't like the coffee, would you abuse the person who served you?

I like to "meet" my followers and get to know them. You can find me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/jade.thorn.944/

I look forward to sharing my journey with you.

This is such an original story - I love Jacinta and her protectors. We find out more about her anchors, and of course there are a few more twists. I can’t wait to see what happens next - especially with the Pure Human and Astron twists :) plus, who else are going to be her guardians :)

Will read the next, but…

This kinda felt like half a story. There was very little progress in the relationships amongst the characters, which are turning out to be more complex than even a reverse harem with some m/m. There was also little progress in understanding the Portals and their power. It felt too short, and a lot of time was spent lighting up and then recovering and being sick and blahhh. Regardless, I do like the characters and the story well enough to continue the series. Hopefully the next book will be novel length.

Here we have yet another binge worthy read, once again reading in a single sitting. This series is addictive but I just can't put my finger on why that is. It's pegged as urban fantasy but definitely boarders more on the Sci-Fi side, I believe that fans of that genre would benefit a little more than those of the fantasy side. The burn in this one is fierce, not really adding a lot to what we already know from book one - but I have hope that book three will build once again on the little why choose group our FMC has. Supernova is turning out to be a lot more complex than the first, introducing so many characters and not giving them the time they need to shine. Hopefully we can see more from the group of males and explore their lives just as deeply as we have Jacinta's.

Jade ends Supernova on a cliffhanger, so be prepared to feel the need to dive straight into to book three (currently available on KU - as of 24/3/34). Recommended to fans of Kristy Acevedo's The Warning series and Jennifer D Lyle's Swarm.

This book was a perfect follow-up to Stellar. I loved every minute of it and I kinda want to stamp my feet and demand the third book already

I really loved how the characters grew and the story changed in really delightful ways which I didn't quite expect. I also really want to see where all these characters end up and who they end up with.

This was a really tantalising second book in the series. This book was still filled with that delightful humour that was ever present in the first book and I can't wait to see how it continues in the third.

Loved it!!!

Again this book has such a great idea! It’s so unique. I’ve not heard it before - I really want to see where the idea is going.

However, the story is very slow to progress and a bit too repetitive for me. I lost track of how many times one of the main characters got angry/defensive at an unnamed soldier/doctor/scientist and recapped everything the main character had been through. How many times it was reiterated the main character was too thin.

All that aside - will I finish the series - yes I will. The premise is there, I need to know how this plays out. Also I want to support an author writing a why choose in a sci fi setting. There isn’t enough romance sci fi going around!

This book is good, has the potential to be great.

Stunning.

I'm actually just finishing my 3rd read of this, and I've only had it for a week. Just brilliant. I absolutely love Jacinta the FMC, she has such inner strength. Her guys are adorable, especially Hammer, but all of them are strong with a gooey soft core. The heat level is definitely slow burn, but so beautifully done that there's no feeling of frustration for me. And importantly, the underlying SciFi plot is absolutely fascinating. I can't wait to see the interaction between the new arrival and the rest of the team.

***5th (6th) {7th} reread. Still 5 star!***

Upon reread I'm not enjoying it as much. 2.5 stars.

Original review:
A quick read with an interesting topic. But again the lack of military discipline (or my opinion of it) was distracting. (They go out and no one goes ahead to secure the area?)
Still enjoyed the book and am interested in what comes next. I find the characters and their interactions interesting.

Very little progress made in this book, with regards to the portal issue, the relationships, etc. Treads dangerously close to one of my least favourite RH tropes with the interactions between Shondra and Leo, but we'll see.

I would rate it 4 stars, but I took one off purely because of how ridiculous the character of Harrison, Jr. became. He was already over-written in the first book, an insta-sexual predator whose first conversation with his father's new employee is to tell her she's worthless and to blow him. But I was there for the drama and he didn't have that much screen-time.

But he makes a re-appearance in this book, and now not only is he sexist and rapey, he's also racist. And the author's already made pretty clear reference to the fact that portals are meant to be an allegory for real-life marginalized people, while also still existing alongside those real-life marginalized people. But at least make it a little more subtle than this:

"Get the fuck out of here before my team blow your mother-fucking brains out," Shondra grunted in reply, trying to get up.
"I don't like African-Americans. You should all go back to where you came from. Now stay on the floor where you belong..."
Shondra stilled. "I'm American born, asshole. My grandfather was from India."
"Don't care. You're not white." Harrison shrugged.

It's goofy enough that it got a laugh out of me, which has merit, but he's such a caricature of a racist/sexist dude that you can't take him seriously. I tried to give a little more context, but seriously, the "I don't like African-Americans" comes out of absolutely nowhere, it's very shoehorned in.

All that being said, I'll be reading the next book! Honestly becoming a little more interested in Collins than Jacinta at this point, he's got a cool sub-plot.

Oh my, I love this series, completely hooked and can't wait for the next book! I feel for our leading lady Jacinta. How confusing and frustrating, not knowing who to trust while having to be dependent on them. Confusing and frustrating to have feelings for more than 1 other person. The team is great, trying to take care of your protectee and another you think is being abused , having to deal with red tape and politics as well. Then there is Astron, quite the souvenir she brought home from the light! I can't wait to see what's coming next. I recommend this series to those who enjoy a slow burn poly romance with a military background and first contact with alien species.

That last chapter?! Omg 😯
I did not expect an alien, a LITERAL alien and a furry one at that 😉

Oh. My. God.
I cannot. The need to continue is so strong!

I'm so excited for what is next for Jacinta and her protectors! I can tell already that the meeting with the freaking President is going to be something intense!
The building up for the spice though is absolutely killing me. I thought something was gonna happen between Jacinta and Hammer then it didn't. Agh. Now she's also kissed Leo. I need more!!!!!
I need the anchors altogether omg. I need to know what happens when they are all in there with Jacinta.

This series is amazing! The twists and turns and just the uniqueness of the whole story is so intriguing that I can't wait to see where it goes next!

Supernova continues the story of Jacinta and her unique situation as a powerful portal.

With abductions, confessions, politics, and bonding the whole way through, we learn more about what a Portal is and how their anchors help them during an event.

I love the diversity of the characters and how Jade has written each of them. Each has their own personality and I picture every one of them differently in my head as I read along – a huge plus for me as I can’t read stories that I can’t picture what the characters look like and exactly what they are doing.

I am enjoying the twists and turns and cannot wait to get to the next book.

Knew there was something special about Bowie...

Great Book

Supernova continues Jacinta’s story and sees her continue dealing with being part of the Portal program. I really loved this book, the characters really grew on me throughout and I fell in love with them while reading this book. The story was well written and I enjoyed reading it and following it to find out what happened next. I really loved how things were starting to tie together and the story was starting to reveal itself. The ending shocked me and I’m already looking forward to the next book. Overall, a fantastic book and a great series, I’d recommend giving it a read.

I am absolutely loving this series! This is book 2 and you definitely need to have read book 1 first.
Things are starting to get complicated for Jack's protection team as her events become more volatile.
We learn more about portals and anchors, and relationships are being built between the team and Jacinta. This is definitely a slow burn romance, but things are starting to happen between all the team members.
Lots of politics are now at play, and I loved the interactions with senior officers, it was like a chess game.
Can't wait to see what is going to happen in book 3 after that ending.

Just finished Supernova and I’m dying for #3 and #4. This series has it all, enjoyable characters, suspense, sci- fi without it getting too obscure, romance ( kinda sorta). I can’t wait for it to continue. Totally unique storyline, a great blend of characters, well written and within the realm of a very remote possibility of reality. I loved it. This is the first series of Jade Thorne’s that I’ve tried and I can’t wait to read more. I don’t apply 5 stars very often, but my constant desire to keep reading at the expense of everything else earned it here.

These books keep getting better and better

I am amazed at how fantastic this book is. I thought it would be hard to top book 1, but Jade did it, and she did it well.

Jack and her lads, with the addition of a not-so human friend at the end really made for a great sequel. The twists and turns, as well as the return of villainous scum from book 1 made this book intriguing, and left me with a strong sense of anticipation at every turn.

I cannot wait for book 3.

This was an interesting story but there was very little development of the romance nor did we learn that much more about the portals. The military discipline was still lack and the plot point with the fmc was not something that would happen if she was really had a protection team. The would have checked that already. It happened because it was convenient for the plot. At the time of writing there seem to be no further books in the series, I don't think I will be looking for them either.

Wtf

I struggled with the rating but the end is a serious WTF. There are strong hints that there's more going on than what's on the surface but the plot twist was out of this world but also makes sense which I LOVE. It's like when you eat something new and cannot decide if it's good or bad, you just need to keep eating until your brain catches up. The story makes sense but I find myself at the end thinking - wtf just happened?!?

Oh man I cannot wait for book 3!

This book kicked straight in from the first.
The team growing closer and finding out answers more and more with twists and turns and challenges that lay ahead.
This book has the best humour and whitty comebacks that make even the toughest nuts giggle.
The best kind of cross with fated love/universe/SciFi/military all mixed into an incredible series.
Ending on the biggest OH SHIT moment i have read this year i can not wait to see what the third installment has instore.

The roller-coaster ride continues ...

As exciting as Stellar was, I kind of expected Supernova to just hum along, giving similar vibes. But, OH NO, it sure as heck provided it's own blast! From an abduction, where we STILL don't know if anyone got away (of the bad guys, of course), to the high point just at the ending, is my heart able to take this tension?! SO-O-O looking forward to Quasar!

OMG, this book was beyond amazing. It was fantastic. It moves along at a pace which is the perfect speed for this story which made for a very enjoyable read. The characters are so real that you feel as though you know them and you cant help but fall in love with them. This story is a must read that needs to be on your TBR list, there is no doubt about it.

Wow back in the world again!!!

Jade has the ability to transport us into a whole other world with her words. Jacinta is back in book 2 following Stellar and she's brought along her protectors. The Portal Connection Series is so fantastic and there is more where this came from. I loved the character development and the world-building in this series and I can't wait to see more.

Series just keeps getting better. Lots of action and drama. Continuation of great world building and character development. The FMC is very enjoyable and making the best of a horrible situation. The men are hot and interesting. I can’t wait for book 3 to continue this engaging story. Definitely recommend.

wow, just WOW!

One totally awesome read! The story premise really grabbed me because, after all we are all made of star stuff. Plus we are all actually energy currently inhabiting a corporeal form. It just punches all the buttons for me! However, where’s number 3? Thought it was supposed to be released last fall? I’m crying here! Fix it, please!!!

Oh my gosh!
For someone who hasn’t really read this genre before - I’m hooked!
I’m so in love with hammer 🥹
I love how much detail I am getting without it being an overload or boring!
I’m so excited to see where the story goes because I’m absolutely blown away by an alien coming back with them!
Not to mention everything else!
Cannot wait to read the 3rd installment!

Got me hooked!!!

This book had me hooked from the beginning to the end!! Talk about plot twists, woahhh I was shook! And the cliffhanger omg I wasn’t ready for that. Incredible storyline & theme, one that is definitely not common! Bravo to Jade, it’s hard to keep a reader captivated & excited on the second book but you did just that! Can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Delightful follow up to the first title. One has learnt more about our main's life and of the lives of those involved with her...

This is bigger than local

I need to see where title 3 The Black sun takes me.

(Hmm... I can't seem to find it anywhere, not even on Amazon) :(

It's irritating that I read so fast, but then I also don't sleep much LOL
