Find Me Under the Stars

Rate this book
Charlotte Winters is the epitome of an optimist, and has never struggled to find the light in any dark situation. She is a hopeless romantic to the core, selfless to an occasional fault, and passionate about everything she does.

Reed Larinski is one of the leading defensemen in the NHL. He is the guy you want as an ally, and the last guy you want as an enemy. Although he’s a menace on the ice with a tough exterior, he’s a softie off of it when it comes to the people he loves, and he will do anything to make them smile.

When Charlotte receives the worst news imaginable, she refuses to make Reed go through the same pain her dad did years ago when they lost her mom. In a desperate and emotional attempt to save Reed’s heart, she ends their relationship, leaving him devastated and confused about what went wrong between them. Reed throws himself into his craft in an attempt to move forward, but it’s not easy to do when he is forced to see Charlotte constantly at the rink, as she works for his team as a social media assistant. Reed continues to struggle to let go of the anger he feels at Charlotte for tossing their relationship aside like it was nothing.

Little does Reed know, their love isn’t the only thing fighting for survival.

This had so much potential but it fell short for me. The author had opportunity to delve into the story more but she would just brush over things and leave me with questions. I also thought that this book was rushed and not put together well. This was a disappointment for me because I was excited for this book.

OKAY SO.

This book is about charlotte who has a lot of trauma because of her mother’s death. (Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and her father never recovered after her death) Charlotte gets diagnosed with breast cancer herself, and as a result of her trauma breaks up with her boyfriend, and hides from all of her friends??

The plot is melodramatic, but could’ve been a great dramatic story. However, you do not see her trauma. You do not see her deliberating about how her mother’s death impacted her, you do not see her dads pain. You are told she has trauma, told her dad never recovered, but you don’t see any of this. Showing and not telling is the cornerstone of literature. What is the point of a story where I’m being told what happens instead of being shown.

The writing was so elementary, I 100% feel like I would’ve read this on fanfiction.net and close it because it wasn’t well well written. The writing in this book is similar one you’d read in a high school creative writing assignment.

You don’t get a sense of any of the characters because they’re not fully developed or even partially fleshed out.

Overall, I’m very bitter that I spent three dollars on this book and I am putting myself on a book buying ban. Then this book was genuinely so disappointing I’m actually angry.

I’m a little late with my review after getting ready for a family trip/Sweetgrass this past weekend but no amount of time will change the way I loved this book! The amount of emotions I had while reading Charlotte and Reed’s story was unbelievable 🥹💖

I knew their story was going to be a good one from book 1, Find Me in the Rain, and it didn’t disappoint. Charlotte is so strong and brave by choosing to go through everything by herself. I could understand her reasoning in her choices, but it didn’t make my heart hurt any less for Reed. You know that he’s head over heels for her and that her decision breaks his heart completely. I loved the way he felt for her, even while he was angry, you knew he would do anything to make sure she was happy and taken care of.

Princess Ella definitely made this story even more sweet. I loved the bond her and Charlotte were able to form and absolutely adored their relationship. They were so strong together and I believe they helped each other in more ways than even they knew. My heart was completely shattered when Charlotte got the call from Harper 😭

There are so many parts of this story that will have you in tears, but there are definitely bright spots throughout as well! Abby, Reed’s sister, is an absolute ray of sunshine. Hatty, his three legged kitty, is the absolute cutest! Of course Ella was such a sweet character and brought smiles and happiness wherever she went. And the amount of growth, strength, and family will have your heart all warm and fuzzy! Overall, it is such a great story that I will absolutely recommend to everyone. Be sure to check TW 💖

Thank you @pruschuylerauthor for trusting me enough to send me an arc (also had the best time being one of your alpha readers🥹🩷)

Find Me Under The Stars is the third installment in the Nighthawks Series, which follows the story of Charlotte and Reed.
If you’ve read the other books in the series you already know who they are and how they got together, so I advise you to read the previous books before this one so you won’t be missing pieces!

📖 Charlotte Winters is the epitome of an optimist, and has never struggled to find the light in any dark situation. She is a hopeless romantic to the core, selfless to an occasional fault, and passionate about everything she does.

Reed Larinski is one of the leading defensemen in the NHL. He is the guy you want as an ally, and the last guy you want as an enemy. Although he's a menace on the ice with a tough exterior, he's a softie off of it when it comes to the people he loves, and he will do anything to make them smile.

When Charlotte receives the worst news imaginable, she refuses to make Reed go through the same pain her dad did years ago when they lost her mom. In a desperate and emotional attempt to save Reed's heart, she ends their relationship, leaving him devastated and confused about what went wrong between them. Reed throws himself into his craft in an attempt to move forward, but it's not easy to do when he is forced to see Charlotte constantly at the rink, as she works for his team as a social media assistant.

Reed continues to struggle to let go of the anger he feels at Charlotte for tossing their relationship aside like it was nothing. Little does Reed know, their love isn't the only thing fighting for survival.

My opinion🤍: this book was magical and I loved every second of it. It was really emotional from the very start🥹

I felt really connected with Charlotte from the start. What I loved the most about her is her force. Pushing away the ones you love is difficult and she does that so they don’t have to suffer. It takes courage to do something like that, and I’m really proud of her❤️‍🩹. There’s a quote that really hit me in the first chapter and from that single line I knew this book would be my favorite.
❄️"𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭, 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮."

Reed was perfect. He’s the most precious and caring person you could ever ask for. Everyone deserves a Reed in their life.

But my favorite character is Ella. She’s a precious little girl that Charlotte meets during the book when she was at her lowest. Ella is a force of nature and you’re going to love her, no doubt about it😭❤️

If you enjoy hockey romance you must pick up this series because it’s amazing. Every single book will tear you apart in the best way possible and you’ll be obsessed with every single hockey player. I actually can’t wait for Matt’s book😝 you gotta love the goalie💞

Tropes: second chance, protective golden retriever mmc, hockey romance, no third act breakup, dual pov
Trigger warnings: cancer, cancer diagnosis, parent death not depicted but mentioned multiple times, child battling cancer

this is an arc review ✨

honestly, i have no words for how much i loved this book.

like, i have not cried this hard for a story in so long. i didn't really know what to expect going into it, but GOD did i love it so much!! i have been in the biggest reading slump lately and then i devoured this book in a day.

where do i even start?

i fell in love with charlotte & reed back in find me in the rain, the glimpses we got of them just made me feel so giddy! my heart ached for them here, for everything charlotte was going through and for reed's broken heart.

charlotte is so brave and fearless &&& so incredibly strong for going through treatment all by herself. she was so loving that even when she felt horrible, she never stopped thinking about everyone she loves.

reed is the perfect prince charming, he loved and cared for charlotte so deeply that even when he was hurt and confused, he still loved her and spent every moment thinking about her.

hatty the cat was a wonderful animal addition, hope we get to see more glimpses of cat dad reed in the future lol!

pru schuyler, the skill and talent you possess is just insane!!

if you haven't preordered, you most definitely should!! this is a story you won't want to miss 💜

This book truly deserves all the stars and more! I was hooked from the first page and truly could not put it down at all for anything! Every single page was full of just the best story telling and the whole story had me laughing, crying and crying some more! They were happy and lots of sad tears and I am so glad I got the opportunity to read this arc because it truly has become one of my favorite book and Pru one of my favorite authors!

One of the things I absolutely loved was Reed and Charlottes relationship they are just so perfect for each other and their story is so real and raw that it’s hard not to fall in love with them. I fell for Reed from the first page his chapters were one of my favorite especially when they included hatty!

Charlotte is also hard to not love with everything she went through and still remained so strong all the way to end! Not only are our MC’s hard not to love but every single character in this book is just so well written that I found myself loving their interactions with every character! I definitely was not expecting to cry as much as I did and I don’t think I’ve ever cried as much as I did reading this book but omg just with everything that goes down it’s hard to not feel for every single character.

I absolutely loved this story and it will continue to be of my favorite for a long time to come! I honestly don’t know how anything will top this because it was just that good!!

I just want to say thank you to Pru for the ARC.

This book definitely had me hooked and sobbing. This was a book that I couldn't put down, as I definitely needed to know what happens. CHARLOTTE AND REED were characters that were so well developed, sometimes circumstances lead us to make decisions that we won't usually make, especially when emotions are involved, Charlotte's decision to take on her illness on her own you save her friends and family from certain outcomes was driven by emotions. Reed was a character who was determined to figure out why his life had been turned upside down. I love how when the truth comes out, those close to Charlotte stood by her and gave her the will and strength to fight.

There werescenes in this book that were emotional, but they were brilliantly written and just added to the enjoyment of this book.

Raw, emotional, powerful!
For real this book is gonna be with me for a while !!!

Reed is the most green flag guy and I'm here for it!
Char my resilient girl!

I loved all the side characters and how they're like a family, always there for each other. I really liked seeing my babies from the previous books!

Ellie, Abby and Harper really have my heart! Princess Ellie and Abby for real are like sunshines, wherever they are they light the place up!

Hatty is the most adorable little thing!

The spice in this is chef's kiss 🤍

Pru did an amazing job writing about cancer patients and everything they go through!

Thank you so much to Pru for this ARC 🩷

I missed Pru’s writing so much after reading the first 2 books of the Nighthawks series. I absolutely couldn’t wait for this book to come out and it didn’t disappoint. I felt all of the emotions from the beginning. If you don’t want a tear jerker then this book is definitely not for you. Reed and Charlotte are couple goals and while I knew it was a second chance romance, I was hoping it wouldn’t take long for them to get back together. I totally felt for Reed from the start. He is just such a cinnamon roll hero and golden retriever and was absolutely head over heels in love with Charlotte. I felt for Charlotte too and how her past affected her decisions. She is such a strong FMC and although it took her a while to figure things out, when she did it was truly heartwarming after that. All of their “I love you’s” just made my heart swell 🫶🏼 I’m super excited to continue this series and can’t wait to see where it goes!

5 freaking stars for Charlotte and Reed! They were everything. This is definitely my favorite in the series! Thank you Pru for the ARC!

This story has everything I love in a book. There was drama, heartbreak, secrets, steam, and the sweetest happily ever after! Charlotte and Reed were both just the sweetest people and they make the best couple.

I love all the Nighthawk men and I can’t wait to get more of their stories!

This is an ARC review....

This book had me crying so hard. It was so beautiful.

Reed is a cinnamon roll and best cat dad. From the first chapter, his love for Charlotte is so strong, and he wears it so proudly. When she left, I felt his pain and his anger.
I wanted so bad to be frustrated with Charlotte for being so unfair and mean to the people in her life, but I couldn't help but love her and want to hug her through her emotional struggle. To go through treatment alone was so fierce and powerful. Having Ella was the best. She was the sweetest little angel.
Reed's support is everything you want in a partner when something like this happens. I was so relieved and happy when they got back together. The support from the team was so sweet.
Reed and Charlotte have a love that will last forever.

This story was absolutely perfect. So beautifully written that I was sucked in from the very beginning. I was crying, I was smiling, I was holding my breath. I was so involved.

I enjoyed this, i was emotional throughout the whole book because this does have cancer rep and it hit close to home as i was there for someone who had cancer, but i liked this i would say it wasn't as focused on the romance as i thought it would be, it was more focused on her journey and her battle with cancer which is completely fine just wasn't what i was expecting. That being said i do wish he had found out sooner and was there for her through the tougher times and wish there was a bit more romance, the ending broke my heart even though it warns you in the content warnings i just... still didn't expect it and i cried. I probably won't ever think of this book again but i enjoyed it.

Ohhhh Myy Gawd!! I didn’t think Pru could blow my mind and make me fall in love with characters more than she did with Cam and Morgan in Find Me On the Ice, but she did!! She absolutely 100% out did herself with Find Me Under the Stars!! I’m lost for words honestly. I absolutely loved Reed and Charlotte soo much. Reed is my new all time favorite book boyfriend, like can I have Reed?! The way he cares for Charlotte, the way he doesn’t let her go. He remembers every little thing about her, her likes, dislikes, goals, etc. He’s the most attentive guy I think I’ve read and someone you want to marry someday. He knows when to push for answers and when to just sit and listen or hold her.

So who are Reed and Charlotte? Charlotte is a woman who is an optimist, a hopeless romantic, selfless to a fault sometimes, and super passionate. She loves deeply and fully and always puts others before herself. Reed is one of the leading defensemen in the NHL, a great ally, but a horrible enemy. Charlotte receives the worst news imaginable of her life and refuses to make Reed go through the same pain her dad did when her mom died. So she breaks up with him leaving him broken, confused and devastated. Charlotte pushes everyone away and decides to deal with her diagnosis alone.

So my honest review, read this book, you will not regret it, well read books 1 and 2 first and then read this one, you will not regret it. I love how strong and brave Charlotte was, she was going through so many emotions, and chose to do it alone (which I wanted to shake her so many times and tell her she needs her people). I could see why she was doing it because of her past but at the same time you need the support from your friends and family. But it was very devastating to Reed and my heart broke for him.

We can’t forget about sweet Princess Ella, omg she was the most adorable kid. I love the bond she and Charlotte formed after meeting at a drs appt. The love they shared for each other was epic. I absolutely adored their relationship. Ella helped Charlotte see things differently and helped her make it to all her appointments. And then Pru completely shattered my heart with one phone call from Harper, Ella’s mom.

This book takes you on so many roller coaster rides of emotions. You will be all up in your feels. You’ll be laughing, crying, squealing, crying again. There is heartache in this book but lots and lots of bright moments. For example, Reed’s sister, Abby, totally adorable and lovable, you can't help but fall in love with her even if she’s only in the book a small portion. Hatty, Reed’s three-legged cat. Also Pru does an amazing job of talking about cancer, the side effects, the feelings and thoughts one might go through. She takes such a tough topic and delicately writes it out. Her books are written so well you feel like you are in the story with them, the details she adds, the feeling she puts into her words. It’s real, raw and most importantly from the heart.

No ow or om (not at all, not even during the separation)

Reed and Charlotte have been darling for two years, and they both love each other so much. But when she finds out she has breast cancer, she ends thing.

Reed tries to hate her, but she is the love of her life. He tries to come to terms with her ending things. I loved that he went and adopted a cat. But still, he felt something was wrong with Charlotte.

The book is mostly about charlottes journey through her treatment, losing her hair and having to remove her breast. It was heartbreaking and wonderful, cried so much.
She meets the most adorable little girl in chemo, Princess Ella.

Charlotte and Reed are broken up six months, while she underwent treatment. When he found out, he stepped up and helpt her.

❤️He shaved his own head when she was about to shave hers❤️

There was no ow or om during their separation. They only wanted each other. There is no talk of other women at all during the whole book, something that was refreshing considering it’s a hockey book.

Ella, The adorable little girl who also is fighting cancer will make you smile, but she will also break your heart when her story ends.

🌟And let’s not forget he surprised her with a tattoo for her. When she needed to feel calm and relaxed, she looked at the stars. So he tattooed stars on his chest so she could look at him whenever she needed it 🌟❤️

12/23 I have some major negative I guess points towards this book one of them being that it took over half of the damn book for him to find out about her sickness. It was getting to a point where it was just frustrating like I wanted to see him help her through this and instead she’s doing it practically on her own like yes have there be some time between her breaking up with him and him finding out you don’t want to have it right away, but I feel like it just it was like months upon months upon months that he was just kept in the dark. I think it was like 60% through the book is when he finally found out and I hated that I wanted to see him be with her throughout that time I don’t know it was just too long for him not to know I feel like the book was practically over by the time he figured it out and another being that little girl not getting her happily ever after she deserved it so bad bro it’s not even funny. I even said before it happened that that could happen and it did like no bro it just it wasn’t it that broke my heart. She didn’t deserve that she deserved to make it. She was such a sweet innocent girl, but I did like how she was a part of the book and I liked her and Harper’s story and what they did for Charlotte and stuff. I’m glad that they were a part of her journey and everything I like that part of it, and I also liked the relationship between Charlotte and Reed. I thought he cared for her and took care of her so well he was so gentle and kind and everything, he is the definition of gentle love And I love that. I just wish we seen a little bit more of it.

Loved it! Het verhaal was zo mooi & kinda heartbreaking.
Why not 5 stars?? It confuses me. Like (i love the girl), but she broke his heart. Even if she is sick, she did hurt him alot and he is every right to feel this way (his feelings are valid!!!). So idk kinda annoyed me haha (dit was legit maar 1 paragraaf tho haha). Also, Laura still annoys me.

Oh Ella stole the show. She is adorable 💖🥺😢

Al en al, very cute & heartbreaking (made me cry a couple of times)

There is a review of this book by someone called Gina that perfectly encapsulates how I felt reading Find Me Under the Stars.

Here is the review:
This book is about Charlotte who has a lot of trauma because of her mother’s death. 💕Second Chance (not over a long period of time)
🏒Hockey Romance
🙌No Third Act Breakupl

This book absolutely wrecked me 😭😭

I’m a semi-emotional reader, and have been known to throw a book on occasion but this one really brought out all the feels from the very beginning. If the topic of breast cancer, parent death due to cancer, and a child battling cancer are triggering for you, I’d skip this book.

Reed was completely perfect. He's the most caring and thoughtful man you could ask for. I felt his heartbreak, his fear, and his love for Charlotte on every page.

I absolutely love Charlotte. She is the eternal optimist and is a complete force. After her diagnosis, she started to push her loved ones away to try and prevent them from suffering. This decision wasn’t made lightly as she thought it was for the best after watching her mother battle and lose the fight to breast cancer.

Now I feel like I need to take a minute and talk about “Princess Ella” (yes I’m crying while I type this). This adorable, bright, and fun little girl who even during her treatments finds time to connect with and comfort “Queen Charlotte”.

If you enjoy hockey romance, this series is a must read! So far I have become obsessed with all of Pru’s couples and fallen in love right along with them.

This is a Second- Chance, Hockey Romance with honestly, one of the best book boyfriends I have ever read, Reed. Reed is the leading defenseman for the Nighthawks hockey team. Our female main character, Charlotte, is an optimistic, selfless romantic, who also works for the Nighthawks. I don't want to spoil too much about why these two broke up (no cheating or abuse), but one thing that never faltered was their love for each other. These two both love hard, and you see it on every single page, you feel it on every single page. I loved their story, even the parts I cried at. The writing makes you feel everything in such an intense way, and I loved it. I could not recommend this book more.

This book also includes Breast Cancer Representation and Down Syndrome Representation, and I think Pru did a phenomenal job representing both. I loved this book with my whole heart and could not imagine giving it a rating below 5. Phenomenal job Pru.

I have received this ARC for an honest review, all thoughts/ opinions above are my own.

***Thank you to Pru for letting me be one of your alpha readers & sending me this ARC. I’m forever grateful ☺️.***

Warning!!! You need tissues for this story. You will not have a dry eye by the end of this.

I am a complete mess again after reading this for the third time. OMG Pru what did you do?!? It was so incredibly beautiful & heartbreaking. I loved it so much. I mean seriously. The tears & booger bubbles were nonstop. I love Reed & Charlotte with everything I have! To see their journey together, beautiful. I love that Reed is so in touch with his feelings. There are also moments in this story where you do get some giggles too so it’s not all completely sad.

I also really enjoy getting to know more about hockey with this. I know nothing of the sport but I’ve always enjoyed watching it & going to games when I can. So thank you for giving me a bit of knowledge 😁. I can always count on Pru’s stories to get me out of a reading slump. They might’ve heartbreaking but they always end up on a good note. Much love to Pru & this book.

✨ Find Me Under The Stars ✨

“You always look up at the stars when you feel overwhelmed. I figured, now you can always see them anytime you want. When you need it, I’ll be the stars for you” 💜

“I grab onto the beaded bracelet on my wrist. The one I made for her that says, Princess Ella and Queen Charlotte. Besties Forever. Always.” 🥺

I still struggle to know how to being my review for this book, but I know it’s a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ♾ !!
This book was very close to home, my mama recovered from breast cancer just last year so this book felt so real for me, I felt the pain and fear of the characters more than any other book so far! The way Pru delivered the story was just amazing. 🥰

I was so excited for Char & Reeds story and it did not disappoint 💜💜 They we’re made for each other ♾

But @pruschuylerauthor I think you have chipped a part of my heart with Princess Ella, the tears where uncontrollable 😭🕊

Honestly I feel like check your trigger warnings and go in blind, and make sure you a have a box of tissues because you 100% will need them 😭🥹🥰

I would give this book 3.5 stars. But I’m bumping it up to 4 because I didn’t read any of the other books in the series so I feel it may have been even better if I had. I was looking to read a story where the FMC was going through a journey like the one in this book, so I just jumped straight to this book without reading the first two in the series.
So keeping that in mind I felt like their meeting and love story was rushed. It was just the prologue and then the first chapters start with her finding out about the cancer and breaking up with him. So I kind of felt like I came into their love story at a weird time. Would have liked more of the buildup showing them falling in love and then her finding out about the cancer.
However it was a really well done story and seemed to really show how going through the treatments is like. It was heartbreaking and beautiful.
I would have liked more of a look into their future and if she beats it. Maybe that’s going to be in book 4 with the next couple but I was just planning on reading this one so I feel like I’m missing some of that.
