A vampire’s stolen my heart, but can I trust him to protect me?
Until recently, I didn’t believe vampires existed. Now I’m being held captive and I know it’s not a coincidence. My captor isn’t human and neither is his thirst for me.
I have to find a way to escape, and I’m certain Nic is the only vampire who can protect me. Or maybe I’m being blinded by how he makes my heart race in the best way possible. Can I truly trust one of his kind?
When my captor says he wants me for himself, my human blood runs cold. I realize this isn’t simply a vampire hungering for human blood. It’s about something much bigger than me that I’ve found myself caught up in the middle of.
I have a bad feeling I may have started a war...
*Stolen by the Vampire King is the second book in a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger. It's recommended for 18+

Leia is annoying as hell in this book. It was hard for me to give it a 3 star, but the storyline and world build bring it up a notch. Leia is a constant whining FMC. I mean she is constantly wanting to go and do things she knows full well will lead to disaster. Yet, she goes right on ahead. I mean how many times do you have to be kidnapped, almost kidnapped, or people murdered before you realize you need to stay your ass at home or get turned.
Nic was frustrating. He spends a good majority of the book refusing to even discuss the possibility of turning Leia. Although, once he does I can see why. Of course, Leia does not want to be turned. Her turning could end all this drama, but sure let's not do that either....I mean that makes too much sense. Right?
I had to make myself finish this book! It took my two weeks to do it because I couldn't make myself read more then a chapter at a time. Leia sucks, she's written to be a dumb ass who never listens and goes from a virgin to nympho in the matter of days. I mean, I like the steamy parts but sometimes less is more! It becomes redundant and not as exciting! The story lacks any oomph and it's hard to get past the way Leia is written!! She's not going to be anyone's favorite 'h' that's for sure! I've just read so many good books that I don't want to waste my time with crap like this! The first book wasn't this bad, that's why I started this one. This second book just doesn't get it done and I certainly won't be finishing the series! It's just sad when the story isn't even good enough to make me want to finish it! Seriously, don't waste your time!
YOU GOTTA BE SHITTING ME. That ending was cruel. I can understand why Leia has decided to feel that way but saying that Sebastian or Francios could turn her is CRAZY. How could she say that to Nic when all he’s done is love her, care for her, protect her… and now she’s talking about letting Francios turn her after all the terrible shit he’s done to her. CRAZY. I would’ve let Nic turn me in book 1, now way would I choose to stay as a delicate little human.
The first book had soo much promise. You connected with the MFC she was like NOPE VAMPIRES ARENT REAL YOURE INSANE alike most people would react. Then her inner narratives and actions were soo childish I skimmed the last half of the book because she was down right annoying. Nic was too. Can’t tell her the truth because she’s literally too immature to cope with giving up her mortal life. “Yes I’m the Queen and His Mate but no I want to remain a human because I like food. being strong and powerful seems silly because I have vampire bodyguards” almost literal words from the novel. ….. hard eye roll… Now it’s cliffhanger ending is soo stupid because she literally caused the the worst thing to happen to herself. “I’ll have the antagonist turn me into a vampire” I’ve said this before in my reviews and I’m gonna say it again… I am soo tired of the female characters we’re supposed to be rooting for being dumb and making bad choices. If I were the love interest I would get tired of her being downright irrational and just wash my hands then give up. Better off being alone than living my HEA with an inconsistent woman with a head full of rocks.
This story is a complex paranormal romance centred around a vampire theme, featuring the intriguing premise of spending a month with a mysterious billionaire. The narrative is unpredictable, effectively delivering a complete and engaging storyline within a concise format. Readers are likely to find themselves drawn into the plot, eagerly anticipating each twist and turn. Key elements of this immersive tale encompass themes of fated mates—an irresistible pull that transcends time—alongside witches, vampires, and shifters. The air is thick with magic, action, and palpable tension, while family dynamics add another layer of complexity to the relationships at play. The male protagonist emerges as a quintessential Alpha—exuding sexiness, dominance, and a fierce possessiveness that heightens the romantic and dramatic stakes of the narrative. As the story unfolds, it blend of passion, intrigue, and supernatural wonders.
I’ve sat and rewritten this review like 5 times. The first book was good, even if it was super instalove-y. This book was a struggle to get through. I skimmed the second half of the book because it was basically Leia whining about her life and making bad decisions and Nic refusing to have a rational, adult conversation with Leia about their future. I won’t be reading book 3 just because I’m so annoyed with these 2 and as much as I like the side characters Jason and Aimée, they’re not worth it.
Nic finally stepped up his game in this one. He stopped being an immature annoying vampire with Leia. He's completely devoted with her and he finally aceppted that he loves her. He couldn't care less about the power a virgin could give him. Leia was likable in most of the book, but after , she descends into an immature TSTL heroine. Why? She knows she's a weak human and that she's constatly in danger for being Nic's mate and she insists on being involved.
The last thing Leia says is the most stupid thing I've ever read.
Boring!! Stolen by the Vampire King bk.2 picks up where bk.1 leaves off. Leia has been kidnapped by the mad vampire king Francois of New Orleans. Nic rescues her. They finally mate. Nic refuses to turn her because he wants her to come to let him turn her only if she loves him and wants to spend eternity with him. Lots of sex scenes.
The other problem I had with this trilogy is the Vampires don't have any powers. They can't blur by running fast, or teleport, or disappear. They can't even read minds. They are written like any ordinary person.
Ahhhh I hate cliffhangers! My goodness, I’m so sad for Leia, 😔 her dad is gone now! It just annoys me bc so much could have been avoided had she let Nic change her from the start! 😡 she’s so hard headed! All of their problems stem from her denying him that! I’m hoping she doesn’t do anything stupid in the next book, which don’t come out until November *sigh*, like letting anyone other than Nic change her! As shattered as her heart is now, if she makes a rash decision to let just anyone change her, it will be even worse for her and she’d regret it once the dust settles! She would truly lose Nic! I cannot wait until the next book to see what happens next! I hope Leia will be changed by Nic and finally get her revenge!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Usually, stories get better, not worse. These characters made the most idiotic, unthought out decisions in the history of fiction! I mean it got worse and worse! They seemed to never learn from their mistakes, conducting the same acts again and again, each time saying how they should have planned it better or thought it through… at least for Nic anyway.
Leia seems to like leaving places she’s told to stay put at for her own safety. She knows her scent draws vampires to her (even more so now in this book), both male and female, yet she keeps veering out into places or wanting to go places and complains about having a “babysitter “.
Nic has some very vital information he received from Lettie and also concurred in a old family book of lore recently recovered from his attic, yet he fails to inform Leia of this information when it concerns her very life. The logic behind that baffles me. It’s her life you’ve put at risk and he decides not to tell her what could happen to her! It follows the same logic as when she asked what a true mate was in the first book, but he explained what a true mate means to his ascension… nothing about love and sharing of emotions and the pull to each other… all about the power he could gain and his ascension…
Again, I do not recommend this book. I hope it’s one of her earlier works because I really liked the one with Nico and Maddie. I’ll have to check the year published next time I pick one of her books and hope that it’s because of when. Fingers crossed.
See my notes, highlights and commentary on Goodreads. Happy reading!
I have read the 2 books in the series so far. I love Nic and his friends. However, I really dislike Leia. I find her to be selfish, immature, and out of touch of reality. I have never understood how a human can date a vampire and say they love them, yet refuse to turn. So, I enjoy the plot, Leia is making it so that I do not enjoy the series.
Another guilty pleasure... since Book 1 ended on a cliff hanger, I just had to buy the second book. "Stolen" picks up right where "Taken" left off... and-- no-- this book can't be read as a stand-alone, but should absolutely be read as part of a series.
I'm on a total Paranormal Romance BINGE right now and I can't stop, so when I saw the teaser for the first book in the series (even though it was on Amazon Kindle) I read it, liked it, and had to buy it-- and I HATE ebooks.
I will be extremely forthright saying, like the first book, this ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER-- except book three isn't released until LATE NOVEMBER 2021! Ahh! Hopefully my book binge is sated by then!
I'm going to assume that, if you're reading this review, you've already read book 1-- if not, you may want to stop 'ere. Because I'm about to recap Book 1-- "Taken".
Anyway, onto the book... "Stolen" begins where the last book left off-- with Leia storming off, back home, after learning Nicolas "Nic" Dupont was really a vampire and that he was trying to seduce her to willingly forego her virginity to change him from Vampire Prince to King. The key here is the willing bit-- and once Leia learns about the whole virgin and vampire thing, she storms off back home... where she learns that Nic may not have been as bad as he seems.
"Stolen" begins with Leia's home abduction and launches into a tenuous hostage situation as another vampire has stolen the virgin for her blood...
I will give the author props for the constant adrenaline rush. Even the captivity scenes were interesting to read. Though they were somewhat slow in that the scenery didn't change much, the story kept moving forward at a quick pace that made you want more and more and more.... it was a real brain-candy page-turner, much like the first installment of the series.
The story moved at a good clip and not more than 1/3 of the way through the sexual tension reached peak intensity... and the reader finally reached their release... but with who, I won't say...
Definitely not a book for kids to read as one of the main themes is sexual attraction. There are some scenes in this book that may trigger anyone who has been raped. Also, if being held captive triggers you, avoid this series.
The battle at the end of "Stolen" was quite epic, but still left the reader hanging for more... and I was sorely disappointed that Book 3 is not yet available to devour. Though, reading these in quick succession has kinda exsanguinated my energy reservoirs. I definitely needed more rest this weekend, but I was too busy reading to sleep!
Ehm, yeah... so... guilty pleasure with a decent plot. The books are more like novellas-- not long at all, but if you chase them one after another, it's a smooth and intense ride... I'm just sad about not having the final book to sate my hunger.
Well, I like the plot and whole Nola and vamp vibes, but Leia is just …. She reminds me of Elena from TVD(and I hated Elena from the whole show) She needs to be protected, doesn’t want to become a vampire bc she doesn’t want to forget her mum and so on! For fuck sake, why would she forget her mother. Why she just doesn’t sit down with her vampire lover and ask him about being a vampire. What are contras and pros and don’t even forget to mention what she is gonna become if she will stay human! I don’t know whether she is so blind and doesn’t see that only way for her is to become a vamp! From the beginning it was there! When he had introduced her to his family, there were no humans ergo in order to be part of family and be his queen you must become a vampire. Then she is kidnapped and again if she would be a vampire none of this would happen! Her dad gets kidnapped and she has to be in a save house bc she is pathetic mortal. There is so many times across this book mentioned that she is fragile as human and she still doesn’t get it! If she wants to stay with him, she must become a vampire! Let’s not mention how stupid (typical Elena style) she is and ran from the save house as stupid fragile mortal to “help” her mate bc he is stronger with her! For fuck sake how stupid she actually is! Her dad must die, so she finally realizes that she is fragile human and if she wants to seek revenge she has to be stronger ergo become a vampire! So my conclusion to this book is that while I liked the story and even her at the beginning I will give it only 4⭐️ (I wanted to give it 3,5, originally). Bc until the end I was done with her. I will read the next book, so that I would know the ending of the story, plus there are a fav characters and other stuff that drives me to continue, but it’s definitely not her. I would still recommend the series bc the whole story is very good and deserves the 4 ⭐️ I gave it. (I’m typing from phone, so if there are misspellings, sorry for that)
I read book 1 and 2. Unfortunately cannot continue to book 3. Reading a series and not being able to finish it really upsets me. It's very rare that this happens but I'm tired of how long it takes for any kind of resolution. The first book, it took more than half of the book for them to finally get together. This book, Nic is constantly trying to pacify Leia, making bad decision after bad decision. Instead of giving it to her straight and allow her to make her own decisions. Of course, he wants to protect her but with the amount of danger that they're all in he should have been clueing her in on why he was doing what he was doing. Even the shifters mentioned how stubborn humans were and how hard it was to keep them safe. However Nic is allowed Leia to continue to put him and everyone else in danger because she doesn't want to be turned. He wants her to want to be turned because she loves him. Fine, but that is no longer the main concern. Her being marked and not turned is a major problem that he's not dealing with. Then her father being killed by Francois.........now you want to be turned so that you can get revenge on him. I believe everyone was trying to tell you how weak you were as a human, duh. How many times does Nic and his family have to save you in order for you to understand what you must do. I just got so tired of her stubbornness and not trying to understand his world. And him keeping the most important parts of her dire situation from her. He was scared of losing her, but you'll lose her anyway if she gets killed because she's still a fragile human or become a thrall because she was never turned. Really, I'm just over them. Don't even care what happens in the 3rd book.
This is the second book in the Baton Rouge Vampires series, and I loved every minute of it. It takes place directly after the events in book 1. Our heroine is caught up in a war brewing between the New Orleans Vampires and the Baton Rouge Vampires. She is highly desired by the kings of both cities. However, she is the true mate of Nicolas, King of the Baton Rouge nest. And he’ll do anything to keep her. But first, he needs to rescue her from François lair and claim her. Oh and then he needs to find a way to get her to allow him to turn her. Only then, can he really assure her safety. Until then, she’s open game.
I can’t tell you how much I love the setting for this story. Baton Rouge and New Orleans just seem perfect for paranormal novels. And the cast of supporting characters is interesting and rich. I want a book for all of them! Pacing of the story was good. Really, my only gripe with this book is when our heroine goes down the TSTL path, thinking that Nic actually needs her help during a battle with François and his fledgling army of vamps. Because, ya know, fighting them isn’t tough enough, now he’s gotta worry about her being on the field as well. However, since it was at the very end of the book, and it wasn’t something she does over and over, it didn’t impact my thorough enjoyment of the storyline.
I highly recommend this book, and series. This book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, so be warned.
I liked book two buuut…I thought the characters were too passive, reactionary, and defensive in many of their responses towards the threats against them. The overall progression of the plot was small.
Nic and Leia can’t seem to catch a break. Kidnapped by a madman, Leia’s hope to escape or for rescue is gradually dwindling. She longs to be back in Nic’s arms. Nic is barely hanging in there as well. He’s furious by this act of war and desperate to save his true mate before it’s too late.
Nic and Leia being true mates is plagued with problems. Not only because of how new it is and how it’s affecting them, but also how it puts Leia’s humanity in even greater jeopardy. With war with the New Orleans vampires imminent, there’s no easy solution for the obstacles in their way. A lack of communication and withholding of pertinent information doesn’t help either.
There were certainly loads of steamy, sizzling moments between Nic and Leia as they grew closer. I was glad to see Leia advocate for herself instead of remaining a human damsel in distress. I loved Aimée, Nic’s sister. She was such a fun and mischievous character and a great friend/sister to Leia.
I wanted more from this second book. More action taken to defeat Francois. The ending was engrossing, chaotic and suspenseful, leaving things on an emotional high. I still very much want to read the next book to see how this story ends.
CW: kidnapping, on and off-page beheadings, suicide bombing
This book is also from a dual point of view, jumping between Leia and Nic. This book starts with a prologue to catch the reader up from a different character's thoughts. Francois, the vampire in New Orleans, who I am assuming is a villain in this book. He is even might be more demented than Nicholas and seems to want the same thing. Poor Leia is trapped and scared by yet another vampire.
Omg, this is agonizing to read as we wait for him or be saved. I truly hope it happens before by the trauma at the hands of this French vampire. Oh, thank God she finally gets rescued. Wow, her captivity barely changed her mind, and this book goes from pg to rated r steamy very fast. But not all is good as we thought it would be once it is done, and now Nic must deal with a new threat.
How will he get her to give up her precious humanity? I find it interesting that the war arrives at the doorstep. We see Nic's true selfish colors as he must make a choice, and the choice is something that benefits him. This book gets scary at the end and definitely emotional. Leia is determined, fierce, but so fragile.
I think this booked really lacked the romance aspects I loved in the first book. This love story has become a lot of drama, decisions, and gruesome war. Sure there are lots of steamy scenes and love professed, but the actions are usually selfish in nature. I honestly didn't enjoy the book as much as I did the first one, but I will read the third book in this series because I want to know how this ends.
To me, it seems like ths story is get more silly as it goes on. The main character isnt my favorite either. I feel like she doesnt know what she wants and she'll say one thing and then forget about it and do something else. Shes gotten weaker as the story has progressed and maybe that's what the author intended, but it doesnt really make her a likable character. Also I get that nic and leia have a bond, but she literally accepted and gave into tha bond after like 2 days.... I mean wasn't she wanting to just go back to her life and run her bar when the contract was over? And then after 2 days she just gives in and we hardly ever hear about her mentioning the bar again except when the author needs something to force the story. Idk after all her internal monologuing about how everything would be solved if she just went away it just makes it seem like everything would be better if she just hopped into the bayou and let the crocs eat her
The second book opens with Francois having a convo with his dad, who is "sleep." He talks about Leia being the savior mentioned in the book of Gray and his plan to see everything come to fruition. From that point on, we are shown just how off-kilter Francois is and just how far he will go to get what he wants.
There is a lot of action in the book, along with some heartbreak. We learn more about the supernatural world in which Leia is now a part of and see the characters struggle with hard decisions and the consequences of the wrong choices being made.
I will say that Leia did piss me off during parts of this book with her sheer stubbornness, and Nic irritated me with his lack of communication. A lot of the problems they faced could have been avoided if they had just talked. We end the book with a grief-stricken Leia with a one track mind that is bound to cause further issues.
I will be reading the last book because I still find the storyline interesting and want to see how it ends.
Even better than book one! And book one was great!
Book one ended in a cliffhanger and book two leaped forward from there. Nicholas will do anything for Leia. When the psycho Vampire from New Orleans, Francois kidnaps Leia and wanting to claim her for his own it sets off a war between the two clans. As he holds her captive he keeps her locked in an old house with dead buried all around the property. Nic and his team finally find her just when Francois was getting ready to claim her. Francois gets away. So Nicholas takes her home to Baton Rouge.
The passion between Nicholas and Leia is intense. Things get crazy real fast! Francois is coming after Leia. But how far will he get? And can Nicholas stop him?
So excited for book 3. Ready for more of Nicholas and Leia. Enjoy!
Idk I like it but I don’t love it. It all just falls a little flat. The growth I would’ve liked to see just wasn’t there. The stupidity behind the secrets is too much and it seems very juvenile despite the sex scenes. I was just hoping this one would give better momentum and more of a depth but it just wasn’t there. The love while spoken of often did not seem that powerful. Idk if I’ll read the last book. It just feels very dragged out. And the love triangle she seems to be trying to make with Sebastian just seems weird. Like they’ve had like two encounters both of which were weird. And the fact that nic and him went from enemies that can’t be trusted to suddenly brothers who work together with all this trust is just weird. I just felt a lot of reaching and not enough to connected the reaches together.
This whole book is about her enemy Vampire going mad starting a war, while the vampire she loves seems to blunder over and over. I liked the first story better than this second one in the series. The lady has short periods of a strong heroin mixed with stupid female... Like her dumb ideas like seeking out of the safe house to save her vampire lover from vampires... Dumb, or her idea to leave the restaurant in the first book to sight see... Dumb. When she decides to go to a nightclub after a threat is mailed to her at the casino next door.... Dumb of her and his sister and her vampire.... It has just seemed a lot of silly things... But its still interesting. I do wish there was a bit more of the story going on between the vampires .... Hopefully the third book will sort out all the loose ends.
OMG, this Leila lady is…unbearable. I had to scrape the parts where was about her. Making everyone miserable with her tantrum… People getting killed because all of a sudden she feels the world for the person who sold her easy peasy to the vampire lord, lost almost everything from Leila’s mother legacy to gambling, including the house, his daughter’s bar and sold his daughter herself😕
And yet, Leila sees him as her only connection to her mother (wtf).. I think Nic is her only true connection to her mother and inheritance. I don’t like the development of Leia at all and yet she had a lot of potential. It makes Nic look weak and dependable and always misjudging decisions because of her. Sorry, but I don’t see her Queen at all. She’s a joke 😂 I think I will stop with the series here.
Currently, I’ve read books one and two in the trilogy. I’m looking forward to reading book 3 when it comes out. My only complaint about the books are that the POV switches to the male’s several times more than I’d like. I’m picky about POV’s: It’s hard to get into a book if it isn’t written in 1st person (which these are!) and it’s also difficult to enjoy it as much if I’m reading a book with romance scenes, written from the male’s perspective (which half of each book is). As a woman, it just feels weird…cringy…to read these (very well-written) steamy moments while in the head of the male. Why do authors do that?! Eek. However, I loved the story line, the characters, and will forge on because the books are worth it 😁☺️
Hmmmm…im having a difficult time reviewing this. I enjoyed it, hence the four star rating. But there were also things I didn’t like too much. Nic is being so sweet and caring and Leia comes across as a spoiled brat and denying him at every turn. And I still don’t understand why Leia is so special for every single vampire. Why does everybody want her? Yes, she was a virgin but surely there are more of those around? And even after she wasn’t a virgin anymore…she is still delicious to everybody? Why? The book was a bit slower than the first one and less time was spent with the two MC’s together. I still read it within 24 hours and am invested so I’ll read the last book, but I was hoping for a bit more. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This ending was not as severe as the last so I don’t feel the nagging need to read the 3rd immediately though I would like to see how this story comes to a close
I loved that Nic and Leia were finally seeing eye to eye and Francois messed it all up for them…again! Personally I don’t see the problem with these women when they don’t want to become vampires. If some hot guy who loved you and you loved asked you to spend forever with him why not? Lol
My biggest issue with this one was the end. It was like a switch flipped and I felt it was a little sudden. I suppose it will be explained in the end but geez lol what and attitude.
Still a really good read and I can’t wait to finish off the series maybe just not all at once lol.
I liked book 1, so I kept reading for book 2. But, when you are human, and you are being hunted by other vampires because you are a weakness to the vampire king, and yet you insist on going in public.... to a club.... because you just need to go dancing?! Then after almost being murdered in the club by a trusted staff member, you turn around and insist on going in public again, to find your alcoholic father who lost you your house, business and freedom in the first place. Why couldn't you allow the vampires to go look for him again? At 80% I said all done. The writing wasn't bad, and I liked the story up until that point but too many 'too stupid to live' moments stopped me from continuing. Shame, I did want to know Sebastian's story.
