Technology's proliferation is complete: cars that control themselves, devices that control your homes, and the death of privacy.
Jen Yates is someone who has learned to manipulate these systems. She's a skilled hacker, and her focus is Cyber Kinetic Eliminations--remote assassinations conducted with sophisticated computer systems.
With a growing success rate, she's given the ultimate target: a Chinese General who's sole responsibility is the reformation of the People's Republican Army.
Can Jen Yates are her team assassinate one of China's most influential men? Can they derail the Chinese Communist Party's reform regimen? Even the thought could have disastrous consequences ...
For a woman leading a team of CyberAsassins, Jen spends a lot of time indulging teenaged emotion swings. I like reading series, but am putting this one on the back burner until I run out of other stuff to read...
One of the best almost WW III novels out there. The plot moved very quickly and was very easy to follow. The suspense was there from the first page until the last. The character arc was enjoyable and believable. There were no real clear-cut good guys or bad guys. That made the story more relevant and enjoyable. The techno-babble was kept to a minimum and the military-thriller side was shown thru more pronounced. It made for a very enjoyable first-time read from this author, I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Code of War - when the lines get blurred, what will you do?
An excellent story of high tech espionage and terrorism. The ultimate determination is which side you are on. This is a very creative look at the possible repercussions, physically and emotionally, when the people involved begin to weigh the damage they are responsible for. Is it any different than bombing an enemy in combat? I am very interested in reading subsequent books by author J. W. Clay.
This is A very interesting tale of cyber warfare, loyalty, a d espionage. I don't know if the computer attacks are really possible as I have very limited computer knowledge and skills. Regardless if is something to than no about and if true, could really be a game-changed regarding how was is conducted. The writing is very good. Encourage you to read this action novel.
As someone who works with computers, I can really appreciate some of the stuff this author talks about in Code of War. It really dispels the myth that hackers are just sitting behind computers punching in random lines of code. Tools like Kali Linux automate these processes and make them near seamless. The book's other elements are really thought provoking. Will checkout the rest of the series.
This book is a timely sci-fi thriller! It meshed several current points of interest for me: Conflict with China. War in the cyber realm. Two strong female figures. A cabin in the middle of nowhere, yet connected to the world. If any of these points interest you, go ahead and pick up this read! I absolutely loved it.
Outstanding piece of work. Every page. In would have sworn the author was or is an ex shadow fighter. Cannot wait to read more. Excellent Excellent Excellent Thank You Steven
I would have given this a five except for unnecessary profanity. Well drawn characters, excellent description of locations are plus factors.. Believable political scenarios of a current nature...
After reading the prequel I knew I had to read this book. We all have our beliefs and our own ethics why we do something. Who can you trust and have your back. What is your moral compass.
This is a story that is familiar in plot and results as it mirrors typical political maneuvering in international espionage. The story keeps you reading and makes you wonder about events in the world today.
Excellent work! I give it five stars for the twists and turns it takes. If I understood the cyber world, I would have had a better feel for the outcome of the assassinations, but it is a great read for a debut novel for J.W. Clay.
You are taken on a journey that is really going on today in real life , it feels very real while you are reading it. The author did a great job with the book , you will have a hard time to stop reading . Great job with the book.
Its god. It's so good that it is almost too real. I can imagine this actually happening. It's a page turner. You won't want to set it down once you start.
A bit gruesome action/ thriller with staccato like action.
"There's a hit on him in Utah, at a gas station North of Tremonton, just before interstate 15 forks and connects with interstate 84- the perfect access route to any part of Montana."
Lots of action, high espionage, interesting take on the new "ColdWar", the U.S. Vs. China. The story moves along quickly. The plot & characters are well researched.
A Wild Ride! I really enjoyed the constant action in the world of cyber warfare. Another reviewer called it “implausible.” I hope that’s correct, but I fear it is not. Our dependence on basically unsecured tech will be our downfall. I felt the writing was well done and the story fast moving, although in reality, I doubt some of the action could have occurred that quickly. I don’t think our government can move that fast. I will try the next in the series at my first opportunity.
