The second issue focuses more on their journey through space. It was fun, cute and explores a little bit of Supergirl's backstory. There were some humorous moments, especially with Ruthye's witty disposition. The momentum of the story continues to move forward; however it was overall lacking compared to the first one. Still, loved the art and dynamic between the characters.

This was a really fun second issue.

This time we have the duo go through space areas, face off against a dragon, and learn how to wash your hands. Yep, no joke. It's cute, fun, and interesting. Get a little backstory and forward momentum on the rest of the series by the end. The art is FANTASTIC.

I love the chemistry between the dead pan and ever so serious narrator and W.G.W. Supergirl . I know this is supposed to be a fantasy / sci fan revenge story, but I'm seeing this more as a road trip comic.

Think when this is all done, this will be a good comic to study as Tom King is somehow making wordy narration and a wild mix of genres work here

Really fun second issue, it put down lots of info for the story and kara's and the girl's relationship. I also really love the narration voice.

The only redeeming quality of this borefest is the amazing art. But nothing else...

Okay. Good issue but no way are they going to let what happens at the end of this issue stick.

Once again, VERY wordy, as the narrator recounts her weeks-long space journey with Supergirl on their road to vengeance. Supergirl, on the other hand, is presented as very pensive and somewhat sullen. Not much happens to further the main storyline. Instead, we're given glimpses into Supergirl's persona through several minor occurrences along their way such as dealing with unruly fellow travellers and teaching proper bathroom etiquette. The artwork is wonderful and does a great job of capturing the emotional nuances of the storytelling.

I was pretty upset about the first issue. Refer to that review for more thoughts on Tom King's take on Supergirl.

On top of that, I think the story takes a pause here to establish some weird Tom King humor that makes no sense. It skips over Kara and Krypto surviving what happened to them in the last issue to show monsters smelling bad and sitting between Ruthye and Kara. And why would anyone sit between Ruthye and Kara when this is the least patient and most selfish take on Kara I've ever read...?

I get why so many people like this story. Because it's familiar. It's literally just New 52 Wonder Woman with Tom King's generic edgelord character-writing. Instead of Greek myth, it's space.

It's a hot-take, but if Kara is going to be a supporting character in her own story, I'd rather just read a Superman story written well with Kara in it. The more she gets her own stories, the less she feels like Supergirl. That's my problem here. If this story was called "Ruthye's Quest," and Supergirl was a different character, I think I'd actually give this five stars. But that's the problem—Tom King's weakness is character-writing. You can literally swap out Supergirl for ANYONE in DC, and it'd be the same story.

The art is beautiful, but it definitely doesn't gaslight me into thinking the story is good. Tom King has been doing this for years.

The art is gorgeous, and worth the price of the book alone. But this is an unappealing version of Supergirl, one that doesn’t feel like Supergirl at all. Most of the story in this issue was dull and reading it was laborious. And I find myself not at all caring about any of the characters. For the girl traveling with Supergirl, Tom King is trying to write in a high, older style of English. But it comes off sounding unnatural and unconvincing, and as drawn out as it is I found myself simply wanting it to end. I’ll keep picking the series up just for the art, but King needs to up his writing game for me to recommend the story beyond this issue.

The girls are now traveling together, they bump into a few people who have gripes with Superman. I would love to say that liven things up but honestly it just felt like a long journey with nothing much happening.

Supergirl keeps getting reminded that her whole family is dead and the other girl is just talking about killing Krem. I'm not too thrilled with this take on Supergirl she just seems more boisterous and has a potty mouth, that's about it.

We don't find what more out about the characters and even though they are traveling together they don't really interact. Is all the main girls inner monologue and occasional argument with a random traveler.

This is a really special book. It indulges in the craft of storytelling, at times it has the feel of a lay, even reminiscent of Chaucer in its sweep from the profane to the divine. Ruthye’s self-aware narration is a treat in this regard.

The story ranges from the cosmic — Supergirl fighting a space dragon — to the particular — an intimate scene of SG teaching Ruthye how to wash her hands. Evelyn’s art absolutely sells it too, communicating hugeness and grandeur equally as well as small and strange.

SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW is very similar to the titular character herself. full of pain, but also full of hope. this issue’s incredible, not only does kara vow vengeance for the assault on krypto, but she helps ruthye learn to wash her hands and also becomes a phoenix at one point (it’s badass). such an awesome series.

the brief mention of her mom with such tender memory made my stomach turn a bit, i feel so bad for her. We are introduced to her as a strong character who doesn't allow herself to stay down after something horrible happens. IF SOMEONE HAD KILLED MY DOG ISTG there would be no galaxy big enough for them to run from me

On s'emmerde.

after the first volume this was a more laid back read, taking place entirely on a convoy ship through the cosmos, we see the little moments instead between Supergirl and Ruthye.

Subtle moments that brings the connection of our characters to the frontview while also emphasising subtle worldbuilding.

A slow burn issue of them travelling through space together as Ruthye learns more about Supergirl and shows her who she is in really beautiful and subtle ways. We get snippets of Supergirl and her past too. Ruthye has some good monologues in this aswell to show her maturity and how she is viewing this adventure.

Good second issue + awesome cover art. A road trip story is always fun!!

For me, this issue successfully shed light on the core of Supergirl’s character and added momentum to their mission in the end. But my favorite was seeing the chemistry between Ruthye & Kara. I think Ruthye’s wordy monologues and Kara’s more casual way of speaking, when meshed together, kind of works? in a weird way. I’m not complaining. And I love the way Ruthye speaks highly of Kara.
