I was so tickled to be invited as an advanced reader - you know, looking for Typos & such. But, well, see this book snatched me right off my feet and plunged me into the action so unexpectedly that I plumb forgot about any typos!! The Plot, the Characters & the author's skill in hooking the reader right from the get-go made me realize this book is a Smash Hit -typos or no (and I didn't find any the 2nd read thru)! The action is non-stop & I loved the well placed humor as well as the bit with the tunes. While The Skeleton Lake is a stand alone read it does gel quicker if you've read the prior book. Mr. Lowe definitely has a way with words & I'm ready to gobble up everything he's ever written. This old gal's smitten!
I have not read the previous books in the series but that did not impair my understanding of the story. I really enjoyed reading this book, sometimes we have to take justice into our hands (not always being on the right path) to have a better world. Sawyer has the respect and admiration of most colleagues in the force but he has to fight with other forces in power to bring the truth forward, even at the cost of his relationships and familial ties. A very entertaining, easy to read, and fast-paced story! I received a free copy of this book from the author, and this is my unbiased review.
The Skeleton Lake by Andrew Lowe DI Jake Sawyer is an intelligent and compelling man with a tragic past that always influences him. His strong and intellectual personality adds another dimension into the dark and disturbing investigation of a particularly twisted series of murders. I definitely will be reading all the other books in this series and I can’t wait.
He has resurfaced after a few months of being in hiding and trumped the people who are after him, to an extent. Another excellent addition to the series, well written and action packed.
One of my favorite crime thrillers. Would HIGHLY recommend.
An excellent story from this well written & thought out series! Really interesting characters & plotline in this brilliant psychological thriller. I really enjoyed that is set in England & will look forward to reading more in this series & by this author! A great read!
Sawyer continues to survive and outmanoeuvre all others. A well written plot. I like how there is psychology woven throughout this story. Lots of little highlights of wisdom and philosophy too. I am hooked.
Loved it! The ending of Book Five stressed me out big time, and Skeleton Lake was a great relief! Well written, fun, tense, and another stressful ending. Oh, Mr. Lowe, you do tease!
