I am so glad I got to read this novel!

Tessa is headed home to Green Ridge, her hometown, after the loss of her job somewhat unexpectedly in professor cuts at the state university.

She meets Jonas Rishel at the local farmer’s market and is intrigued to learn more about the Amish way of life. Not long after she is wrangled into supporting the local hospital and meets loyal to a fault, Dr. Richard Bruce.

In this clean romance, Tessa questions herself, and tries to deeply decipher what she really wants from life and those around her, even if it takes her on a ferris wheel ride of uncertainty and frustration.

This novel reminded me SO MUCH of my area! My husband is from Juniata County, and still has Amish neighbors to this day. I could see the local West Shore Farmers Market in my mind every time Tessa visited the market. I could see the back country roads of Juniata County as Tessa drove to Jonas’ family home for pies, country adventures, and the work for her gazebo.

I enjoyed the juxtaposition between Dr. Richard Bruce and his vision for the local hospital (along with his struggles with his father’s shadow) and Jonas’ simple way of life (along with his struggles and uncertainty in his own community).

Well done, Wendy, this will truly be one of my favorite novels this year!

Thank you to the publisher for my #gifted copy, and Wendy for your sweet handwritten note, cute wildflower bookmark, and a great storyline that brings me home!

If you enjoy clean romance, Amish subject matter, a walk through country Pennsylvania...read it, and tell me how much you liked it as well!

This romance intrigued me with the Amish characters, the small town ways, and Tessa's dilemma as to what she is going to do with her life now.

Tessa is back in her hometown and has to decide where her next journey will be since several things have fallen apart - losing a job as a teacher, plans for NYC destroyed - so why not housesit for her parents while she figures it out? She is roped into volunteering for several events and is set up with a doctor, Richard. She also meets Jonas, an Amish man, at the farmer's market. These two couldn't be more opposites if they tried. I'll tell you right now, I am Team Jonas. Richard is underhanded and overbearing and needs to be taken down a peg or two.

While love is at the crux of the story, it is also about discovering who you are and what you want from life. Tessa is able to do some soul searching to discover her path in life, but it takes some time and nothing is resolved quickly. But it isn't meant to be and finding the right direction for your life is more important than love that might be fleeting if you are not in the right place to receive that love.

I had to laugh at the camper van but I was also amazed at the versatility of that vehicle!

Great story and we give it 4 paws up.

Hometown is the first book written by Wendy Stetson. This is the first in the my Hearts of the Ridge Series.

Tessa Meadows finds herself, back in her hometown, caring for her parents home after losing her job. While planning a move to New York City, her plans are derailed by the presence of two different men. One is a charming almost too perfect doctor, and  the other a handsome Amish carpenter.

The story is well written with likeable characters. The author also accurately captures the essence of living in a small town where everyone knows everyone.
I loved the ending, I didn't expect it and was pleasantly surprised by it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a clean romance.

I was given a ARC and not under and obligation to post a positive review.

Tessa is back in her hometown before fulfilling her dream, but her future is called into question when she meets a handsome Amish man and a young doctor. Tessa is house-sitting for her parents when she meets Jonas Rishel and his family at the local farmers market. She’s attracted to him, and curiosity about the Amish community propels her to continue interacting with him. She discovers he’s a widow but very much available. Tessa’s heart does a double flip when she meets sexy Dr. Richard Bruce at a charity function. He pursues her and she wonders what to do. Her heart is torn between city or country, future or past, doctor or Amish farmer. Once she makes her choice, she knows she can’t help but hurt the other man. One disastrous night will unravel not only Tessa’s life choices but the man she loves. Can Tessa find peace and harmony with the man she loves or is she chasing a dream?

Hometown is a heartwarming, emotional story about finding your path, following your heart and falling in love. The theme of small town versus big city plays a big role in Hometown, as does discovering where you want to be in life. What you thought you wanted may not be where you end up. What makes Hometown such a fantastic reading experience is the descriptive narration. Every emotion, every moment, every encounter is brilliantly described so that the characters and the story come alive. I connected with Tessa right away and I kept rooting for her to take the leap. Of what, I can’t disclose. You’ll have to read it for yourself to see what I mean. The love triangle was cleverly executed, and I kept wondering which man Tessa would choose. The writing on the Amish community was so well done, I immersed myself directly into the story. There are plenty of conflicts in Hometown’s plot but all were realistic and kept me whipping through the pages. Wendy Rich Stetson is a gifted writer and I look forward to reading more from her. If you love Amish romance, this is a must-read. If you enjoy wholesome romance, you’ll love Hometown. Highly recommend!

Wendy Rich Stetson thoughtfully sent me her book and I was pleased to read it this week. I’ve always enjoyed learning about different cultures and religions and found the glimpse into Amish culture enjoyable. I learned so many things and was constantly googling to learn and understand more.

The main character, Tessa, moved back to her small Pennsylvania hometown after her job as an English professor ends due to budgeting. House sitting for her parents, she’s a little lost while deciding where to move forward with her life.

She meets two men, one a successful driven doctor and another is an Amish carpenter. While I generally don’t like love triangles, because someone always ends up sad and it can be a little morally uncomfortable to have feelings for two people, she ended up with who I wanted, so I guess that made it more enjoyable.

The doctor, Richard, and the Amish Carpenter, Jonas, present two extremes, and two paths Tessa could pursue. I don’t want to give too much away, so I won’t go into too much detail about each man.

I liked the contrast between the two worlds and the ideas of simple peaceful living versus pursuing grand dreams to serve and help the community. Both paths presented a worthy life, but I was rooting for one choice based simply on the fact that one man was a little too overbearing for my tastes.

Overall an enjoyable novel that kept me wanting to read just one more chapter.

This was sweet story with both Amish and non-Amish characters! I love the small town feel and the characters were very well written and relatable. There is a love triangle that will frustrate you but intrigue you all at the same time. I knew who the right candidate was all along.

Despite this being a love story that is not the center of the story. It is really about Tessa finding who she really is and what she wants out of life. She does some real soul searching but it takes time.

The pacing of the story is very realistic and I really enjoyed it! If you are looking for a clean romance then I recommend you pick this one up!

Wendy Rich Stetson’s Hometown creates a romance as sweet as the Amish whoopie pies her narrator loves so much! When Tessa’s teaching job is eliminated, she returns to her hometown and her parents’ home. She spends her days gardening and volunteering for the hospital auxiliary, while daydreaming about the Amish man she met at the market. Her new acquaintances set her up with a handsome young doctor, and she has to decide where her heart sings. Excellent window into the Amish culture and life in central Pennsylvania.

This is a book I’ve come back to time and again since my first read. I absolutely love it. Jonas is a favorite MMC, and I love his and Tessa’s story.

I love how their two different worlds collide in the simplest and most normal of ways, but their story is perfect. My favorite scenes include swimming, making pie, and the rain. Oh, the rain!

This series is so unique among books, and I absolutely love it.

This is a good contemporary romance with an Amish twist. It was the most unique book featuring Amish characters that I've read. I wouldn't call it an "Amish" book, but the Amish characters play a big role and we definitely get a good glimpse into the Amish culture.

Tessa is out of a job and moves back home to prepare for a move to New York City with her best friend. That plan gets derailed when her best friend moves in with her boyfriend. While Tessa is deciding what her future now holds, she's essentially set up with Dr. Bruce. Dr. Bruce is everything Tessa could want, but he has a few tiny red flags that I was so happy to see she called him on. I thought this was a very realistic relationship for a clean, contemporary romance.

Tessa meets Jonas at a bake stand at a market. She is very attracted to him, but he's Amish and she's not which complicates any potential relationship. Tessa essentially stalks his family with the excuse of wanting to buy pies for a hospital fundraiser and then hires Jonas to build a gazebo just to be able to have contact with him. In addition to being Amish, Jonas has a tragic family history. I kept wondering if Tessa was more interested in the thrill of the chase rather than being truly interested in Jonas.

I really liked the ending of the book and it was a bit of a surprise.

If you like clean, contemporary romance, I highly recommend this book.

I have been on a cozy romance kick and this fits the bill for a cozy romance. It is charming romance with one male lead that I love to bits. Seriously, Jonah is what made me kick this rating up to 4 stars because he is precious and I will protect him at all costs! The romance in here is compelling and the chemistry is absolutely crackling. I always say it is going to be a tough read if the genre is romance and I do not buy the couple or their chemistry, but this is not an issue here so we are all clear on a couple to root for.

I will say that too many unusual and honestly horrifying events happen in this read (I'm looking at you bee scene that has traumatized me for life!) that made it difficult for me to believe this would happen all in one season. So many dramatic things happened that I was like, "Oh no! Another thing! Is mercury in retrograde in this book?! How many disasters can possibly happen?". Apparently a lot of disasters can happen in this Pennsylvania countryside. So if I was rating on plot alone I might rate this a 3 because it borders the edge of unbelievable, but the romance is sticking with me and I love the couple in this book.

I would not be mad if there was a novella or a sequel featuring this sweet couple and I also still have some questions so a sequel that might answer those questions I have that is all I am saying. All in all, if you are looking for a compelling, gentle romance this one should fit that order. I flew through this book because I wanted to see what would happen to this sweet duo.

After her plans to move to New York fall through, Tessa moves back to her hometown and catches the eye of Dr. Richard Bruce, a caring surgeon with strong ties to the area. Despite Richard’s affections, Tessa is drawn to Jonas Rishel, an Amish carpenter with a heartbreaking backstory.

This story kept me guessing as I could see a future for Tessa with either of the heroes. Sweet and romantic moments were expertly juxtaposed with vivid and heart-pounding scenes that made me feel as if I were in the moment along with Tessa. Tessa herself proved to be a likable heroine that I couldn’t help but root for. As a bonus, I loved the glimpse into Amish life.

Five stars for this riveting story with not one but two swoon-worthy heroes. Perfect for romance lovers. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, “Heartsong Hills.”

Thank you in advance to author Wendy Rich Stetson as well as the publisher, Wild Rose Press, for providing a complimentary review copy of the book through JustRead Publicity Tours’ Bookstagram tour. A positive review was definitely not required or requested in any way; all words are my own. Thank you also to Prism Book Tours for including me on this review tour.

Hometown is the author’s debut book. It is always refreshing to explore new talent especially with a quirky, upbeat, emotional, and dramatic story that is a train-wreck in and of itself due to one of the main characters. The story is told solely from Tessa’s POV in third person. The author’s descriptive writing with relative short chapters helped the story move along and not stagnant in any one area.

The cover is whimsical, and the Amish buggy versus the hulking SUV really sets off the complete differences between the Amish and the Englisch ways of life.

Believe it or not, I actually enjoy Amish fiction, whether it is the Love Inspired line, Love Inspired Suspense, or certain Revell titles (blame JustRead Tours and a blind date book a few years ago, lol). It also doesn’t hurt that I love it as a result of a movie I saw when I was younger. And, that movie plays a small part in this book.

Confession? I absolutely LOVED the Harrison Ford movie WITNESS which is mentioned here when Tessa and her friend talk about being Amish. And, the scene referenced? The barn dance, which is my FAVORITE scene of the movie. Every time I heard Sam Cooke’s “What A Wonderful World” I instantly think of that scene and dance.

Unlike the movie, which was a drama suspense; this is a strict romance. It is a fairly clean romance, with a hint of a “questionable” scene. That scene (I am hoping) is something that Tessa is likely imagining due to what could be a slight case of anxiety. There are some mentions of intimacy though nothing too graphically written. There is a kiss that has more detail than I would like though. For the most part, the intimacy is kept in check.

Some questionable language is used, which could be referred to as “barn language”. In this case, the words “bloody” (which can be offensive to those from Canada, UK, Australia or similar regions); he!!; and d@mn are used. There is no mention of the “s”-word or “f”-bomb, thus keeping it as close to clean as possible. It has a Hallmark movie “like” vibe to it.

The main premise is a non-intimate love triangle between Tessa, Jonas (Amish dude), and Richard (the doctor with the SUV). Tessa knows that Richard is stability while she is attracted to Jonas who is honest as well as hard working, in addition to the fact he is good looking.

Overall, Jonas was the best character and part of the book. I know I savored those scenes more than I should have.

Dr. Richard Bruce was definitely the WORST character and part of the book. I couldn’t stand him from the first moment. Tessa was seemingly encouraging the relationship with him while daydreaming of Jonas. I understood that Tessa was being realistic about Jonas, who faced shunning for leaving the order, and Richard offered the stability and “realistic” type of relationship she thought she needed. Though, to me, it also wasn’t fair to either guy for her to “play” them or at least take advantage of their affection.

Right off, the book starts with Tessa in her 1979 camper van at a Farmer’s Market, and she’s heading for the whoopie pies.

If y’all have never tried them – you’re missing out. My favorite? The chocolate ones!! Of course, unlike Tessa, I have to get mine either at the gas station or grocery store. But, they are a tasty treat!

It is here she meets Jonas along with his “sister” Nora, and his niece Rebecca. It is clear Nora is not a pleasant person. And, it is at the end of chapter one (1) that Tessa’s move to New York is derailed when her friend, Jen, announces she’s getting married.

It is Tessa’s former Sunday School teacher who contacts her about the dessert table for a charity auction. Tessa agrees, but can’t bake despite her mother being known for cookbooks. Tessa decides to search for the Amish dude and his sister to get some pies – 36 pies.

It is when Tessa picks them up she learns the relationship between Nora, Rebecca, and Jonas. And, Tessa definitely has a crush on the flirtatious Amish dude. Though Nora seems to want to crush any notions of Tessa hanging around them, especially Jonas.

At the auction, Tessa meets Richard and gets set up on a date with him. Thus, begins her “dating” the doctor, which brings them together to co-chair another event. It puts their awkward relationship in motion.

Yet, Tessa ends up contracting Jonas to build a complicated gazebo for her parents’ anniversary, which begins that flirtation. But, despite the money the gazebo can bring to Nora and Jonas, Nora is against her brother doing it.

Even though Richard rubbed Tessa the wrong way, she continues to see him, and his odd behavior continues. By 35% in, I was definitely done with him. And, there is a moment at the fair when he blames her for a ride’s inoperability stranding them. Yet, he jumps into hero mode when a child’s life literally hangs in the balance. Even though he is a complete a$$, he admits he loves Tessa and she practically swoons.

But, that only lasts so long.

Even on a trip, all Richard can do is talk about himself, not stopping to care about Tessa. She doesn’t seem to miss him and ignores what should be a HUGE, glaring red flag waving in her face.

Jonas is far more patient, kind, and listens to Tessa. He wants to talk to her. It is clear Jonas wants to walk/ride on the wild side as well having never done his rumspringa when he was younger. There is a comical scene regarding him and a police officer.

When Richard returns, it is Tessa’s trip time, which puts things into perspective for her. And, it is something that should’ve ended her and Richard, yet the poor relationship is literally on life support.

After chapter 16, about 71% of the way in, it definitely reached a turning point that caught my attention and kept it. Jonas explains the dynamics and what happened with his sister and her husband. There is also a huge plot point involving Jonas as well.

And, it is here that the book really picked up and I honestly couldn’t put it down. I really became deeply invested in it as well as Tessa and Jonas. This book was on its way to grabbing me after chapter one (1), but alternated between interesting and annoying with Richard being the primary reason for most of the book. Tessa was a secondary reason.

It was also interesting to see the Amish vs. Englisch dynamics when it comes to medical care and there was a point where I was really reading fast as I was honestly praying for the safety of a beloved character. This was a point where Tessa really stepped up and became a true hero in her own right.

This is the first book of the HEARTS OF THE RIDGE series, but this can act as a standalone. Though, I would definitely be interested in reading more of the series and see who returns from this book in book #2.

To be honest, I wish Tessa would’ve dumped Richard right off. There is a scene when Tessa comes back, she’s a bit disturbed by – a dead horse, yet Richard thinks the accident surrounding it is funny. And, she is STILL with him even though his insensitivity clearly shows.

I sort of pegged the ending, but it was interesting to see how it worked out. And, Tessa really matured so much towards the end of the book. I do hope to learn more about Jonas’ sister and niece in the next book(s).

A quirky and yet interesting question comes early on in the book. It is in no way related to the story overall. Tessa wonders how ancient people discovered popcorn. She wondered if someone looked at the hard “seeds” and went “hey, let’s torch these things and see if they explode into food”. I’m curious now.

And, no, despite what some might think of the Amish, it isn’t like what Tessa thought when comparing it to LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE. Those were settlers and/or pioneers, not Amish. They didn’t have access to certain things because of the time period.

There is some mention of religion and God, but not until about 72% into the story. That, despite having an Amish theme to the story, is not integral to the story.

Those that enjoy a romance with less of the “steam” and want a bit of “nice” spice along with a quirky read – are sure to enjoy this offering by Stetson. I am eagerly waiting for book #2 to see where this series is going.

Thoughts: Tessa Meadows is out of a job when her college closes down so, of course, she goes home to Green Ridge, PA to housesit for her parents while they are away. She spends the summer planting flower gardens and trying to figure out what’s next for her. She’d planned on moving to New York City, but that got derailed when her best friend and roommate moves in with her boyfriend. Plus, a trip to NYC shows Tessa that the big city is definitely not where she wants to be. Back home, she heads to the farmers market for her favorite treat of whoopie pies where she meets Jonas, an Amish carpenter who is too good looking (and his dour sister and adorable niece). She has the idea him building a unique gazebo for her parents, thus putting them together for weeks at a time.

While her admiration for the quiet carpenter grows, she’s also thrown together with Dr. Richard Bruce. The handsome doctor woos her and captures her interest, but there’s something about Jonas.

Torn between the two men, things come to a head and Tessa has to make the decision of her life.
The surprise ending is a definite plus.

This is a sweet romance that is true to the roots of life in central Pennsylvania. Amish and English (anyone not Amish) are often close in area, but not in lifestyle. The back roads and markets are true to the area. The differences between Jonas and Richard paint an accurate picture of the differences between the two cultures.

Red flag and spoiler: Tessa’s relationship with Richard threw up several red flags for me as he was doing things abusers would do. Things like not letting her order what she wanted, making all the decisions… I’m glad the author made Tessa nervous about things like this and ultimately turned Tessa away from Richard.

Recommendation: This is a sweet romance with a surprise ending that satisfies. Recommended.

In two words…absolutely brilliant!

This long, attention grabbing story set in Pennsylvania will live on in my memory…the choices, the hopes, the losses and the gains are all entwined to give a beautiful, angst filled read with the perfect epilogue to finish!

Tessa has two quite different men appear in her life while she stays in her hometown looking after her parents’ house. The choices and consequences mount up as she tries to navigate through it all with love definitely on her track.

Plenty of romance, while keeping it clean, made this a great read. (Along with plenty of food being described and mentioned…it all sounded so yummy!!)

Highly recommended - please read!

Received this as a complimentary copy from the author and this is all my own opinion…it has been absolute pleasure to read and am really looking forward to her next book.

A great book set in Pennsylvania Amish Country - be still my romantic heart! This is a clean romance with a fun love triangle between Tessa, a doctor, and an Amish farmer. I love the difference in lifestyles between the two love interests -- so interesting and fun! This unique setting is described so well in this book and is so fitting to the story.

A well-crafted and detailed book with a fun twist at the end. This is my first time reading anything from Wendy Rich Stetson and it won't be the last! This story is charming, well-written, well-plotted -- I just didn't want it to end!

Not quite a 4 stars read, but better than I expected in many ways.

This story is a love story, yes, but it's mostly about finding ourselves when we're in those weird mid 20's-early 30's and deciding what you actually want your life to be, not what you've dreamt or the dreams of others.
I grew up in a relatively small town and visit frequently, so I could relate a lot with Tessa's love for her home while being overwhelmed by other aspects. My favorite descriptions were always those of nature; I love forests and gardens and it almost felt like coming home when I read those parts (especially because I started reading this book in one of my trips to New York and a few chapters later the character was following me there!).
I've grown away from love triangles, so that part kind of made me leave the book for a year before reopening it and give it another go.
This is the first book published by the author, so I'm willing to give some grace at a few awkward descriptions and weird pacing in the middle. Can't wait to read more from her!

Sweet, clean and full of love of nature.

This is the first Amish-themed novel I read, and now I want to read more! Many who have traveled through Pennsylvania Dutch Country and gotten a glimpse of how the Amish live, can’t help being intrigued by their simple and wholesome lifestyle, and I’m one of those.

When Tessa is suddenly left without a job, she returns to her Pennsylvania hometown while she ponders her upcoming move to New York. A city girl at heart, she has her future all mapped out, until her life takes an unexpected turn. She meets two very different men, one an up-and-coming doctor with an ambitious streak, the other an Amish farmer and part-time carpenter, both competing for her heart. Though I had an inkling which of the two she would ultimately give it to, the well laid out plot and unexpected twist at the end makes the story realistic and unpredictable.

I love a clean and wholesome tale that’s non-formulaic and that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, and Hometown didn’t disappoint. The story captured my interest from the first mention of whoopie pies, and I couldn’t put it down, eager to see where it went. Humorous and deeply emotional at the same time, this book was a joy to read. It was well-crafted and refreshing, the imagery and descriptive prose so vibrant I could almost taste the freshly baked goods and smell the farm life. When it comes to ‘steam level’ Ms. Rich Stetson sure knows how to turn up the heat to just below eyebrow-raising levels. I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next!

HOMETOWN is full of folksy charm as Tessa fixes up her parents' house after being fired from her teaching job due to budget cuts.

At the local market, she notices a tall, handsome Amish man. He and his niece sell Tessa's favorite dessert, whoopie pies. His sister, bitter Nora, also bakes delicious pies. And Tessa will require her help, soon.

Tessa has also met the local doctor, Richard, who is definitely interested in her.

After she hires the Amish man, Jonas, to build a gazebo in her family's back yard, their attraction grows. Now she's torn between two men, one who lives in a different world.

Author Stetson writes with assurance, the emotions of her characters richly explored, detailed nuance throughout. They all have secrets from their pasts that skew their present. I found Richard too pushy from the onset, and Jonas sometimes not strong enough, but he's still a great character. Will he leave his community to forge a life with an outsider? Or should he stay and support his sister and niece after their tragedy?

Amish life is explored as Tessa finds it fascinating and limiting. Should she go with the sexy doctor who offers her a high-level life?

I loved fey Rebecca, Jonas' niece, who dances with fireflies. The late night drive through a storm baffled me since there was no emergency, though it made for great drama.

All the characters rang true for me and I vastly enjoyed this novel. Highly recommended for those who like their romances well-written and sweet.

When college professor Tessa loses her job, she returns to the idyllic small town in rural Pennsylvania’s Amish country that she grew up in to house-sit her parents' home for the summer and figure out what she wants to do next. But Tessa is trapped between two completely incompatible worlds that collide and wreak havoc on her life when she becomes involved with two impossibly different men— both with strong ties to her hometown—an ambitious, controlling, up-and-coming doctor and an Amish farmer.
Wendy Rich Stetson has penned an emotional tale that deftly weaves ribbons of angst and romance into a well-written plot driven by betrayal, love, loss, trust, family ties, and the inner strength one must summon to face adversity created by both human fallibility and fate. The story moves at a comfortable pace with flawed, but believable characters who drive the plot. Readers find themselves rooting for the protagonist from the beginning to the end of the story. This reader wanted to hug Tessa on one page and throttle her on the next. Stetson creates enough conflict with a hopelessly tangled love triangle to keep readers turning the pages to see how it all turns out.
Part romance, part redemption with a second chance at life and love, Hometown will pull at the heartstrings and capture the imagination of readers who enjoy a love story fueled by the never-ending battle between decisions made by choice or fate and believe that one should never stop asking what if. This terrific book has more than earned the five-star rating this reader has given it.

I just finished it. I loved it!!! It was so nice to not have sex be the main reason everyone loves each other! Not that I'm a prude or anything, but so many authors highlight the story with sex as the main reason for existence! It gets monotonous and boring after a while! But this story showed love isn't just physical. I loved how Jonas made Tessa think about love and why they love. I loved how Richard showed Tessa his love for her in ways she never dreamed of. Two totally different men - and she liked both lives they offered her. One had a past to close and move on from while the other had a future to create, The story had so much feeling and emotion and was thought-provoking. And Jonas being Amish - learning a bit about that was interesting too and gave more to think about and consider. And of course, when the two men meet, not just once but twice, it gives the reader the intrigue of "who's going to do what to whom?" kind of thing and won't want to put the book down! Richard and Jonas wanted things they didn't realize they wanted until being with Tessa made them think about their lives. Who is she going to choose - or is it the men that decide who gets her? The "one year later" Epilogue was perfect! Being a love story, I knew one of them would end up with Tessa, just didn't know which one! All three lives turn out differently than I thought they would. That is the sign of a talented writer!

What an amazing debut novel from Wendy Rich Stetson! I haven't read any clean romances that have had people from an Amish community and I absolutely loved diving into that world. I love how in this novel we got to follow Tessa as she heads back to her hometown where life is simple and where she discovers who she is and what she wants out of life.

I love that juxtaposition of the two men she has interest in. There is Dr Richard Bruce the man who is all about technology and getting ahead in the world. And then there is Jonas who is an Amish carpenter that loves the simple things in life and working with his hands. I loved how Tessa navigated her heart between the two men and what she wanted her focus in life to be and who she saw that future with.

I love that I learned more about the Amish community, why they live as they do, and what their daily lives look like. One of my best friends when I was growing up in Kentucky was Amish so it was fun to see how her life lined up with those Wendy mentioned in her book.

If you want a book about a small town with Amish roots, a girl finding herself, a love triangle with two very different guys, and of course a happily ever after give this one a go! I can't wait to start book #2 Heartsong Hills and count down until book #3 is released in 2024!

Tessa is taking care of her childhood home when she meets Jonas Rishel and his family at her local market. Her curiosity and desire to learn more about him and his lifestyle pushes them closer together.

Just when her heart can’t take anymore, she meets dreamy Dr. Richard Bruce at a charity event. They seem to find their way back to each other again, and again.

Her heart is torn between city and country. Future or past. Two very different lifestyles, one very hard choice. Follow Tessa’s story as she truly finds what the heart is capable of.

Love triangles have never been my cup of tea. I tend to find them unfair and I sometimes feel like I’m putting my emotions through a marathon.

Reading Hometown has put a different perspective into my view. This book showed me that sometimes the heart does things that aren’t always easy, smart, and can be downright wrong. And yet, I found myself wanting more, and more. I could not put this book down! The ending had my heart racing and jumping out of my chest.

A true test to find out what love is made of.

I highly recommend this book to all romance lovers.

It’s 4.5 for me.

First thing first, I’m literally in love with the name ‘Tessa’, and this book's main lead is Tessa that makes me more inclined to the story.
The story is a simple romance but has so many emotions to it. There is friendship, love, responsibility, kindness, strangers, and most of all pies. Pie plays an important role in developing relationships. I adore the whoopie pie’s context.
Tessa’s emotional development will touch your heart. She’s a 28-year-old girl, who lost her teaching job and then came back to her hometown to her parents' house. She has many plans which seem to change again and again due to different circumstances occurring. She has a crush on an Amish guy who is totally out of her reach. There is a Dr. Richard who is swooning her and wants to spend his life with her. With her heart all over the place for these two, her story becomes complicated and she figures out everything in this epic story. Everyone in this has a difficult past which adds to the spice.
I got to see a glimpse of Amish culture which was great since I don’t have any knowledge about them. And learning from books is always the best. And that epilogue was magical.

Hometown by Wendy Rich Stetson
@wendyrichstetson_author

I have had my eye on this book for the last 6 months or so. The snippets I would read here and there on others #bookstagram posts kept me interested. I was blessed when the author sent me a copy to read and review. Let me tell you, I have a new author to read.

Hometown is about a woman who lives back home for the summer to watch her parents house while they are away. It is a pit stop to her dream of living in NYC. What she doesn’t count on is finding love. One is a doctor and the other is Amish.

I won’t reveal who she ends up with, if either but I will say one character brought out very strong emotions of anger. I do believe if I could have entered the book he would have cowered against my rage. He did a wonderful thing towards the end but he is still a class A jerk in the romance department. If you have read the book, do you know which character? Don’t tell me in the comments DM your idea.

Hometown is a clean romance. It is not your typical Amish romance so don’t go in thinking you are reading a Beverly Lewis type romance.

I give it 4.5 ⭐️ and am ready to start book two, Heartsong Hills.

This was such an interesting mix of Amish and English living. I really enjoyed experiencing the Amish community through the eyes of Tessa as she returns to her small Pennsylvania hometown. It felt like such a lovely place to live!

Tessa was hoping to live low-profile for a little while until she moved to NYC, but as those plans fall through, she finds herself settling into town. Intrigued by the attractive and complex Amish man, Jonas, she finds herself in a somewhat non-traditional friendship with some steamy tension.

Mix that in with the sexy Dr. Richard Bruce that Tessa starts dating, and you’ve got yourself a love triangle. I’m not usually a fan of this romance trope, but I really enjoyed it in this story. I understood and connected with the relationship and feelings between each guy.

This was a well-written story with great characters that I fell in love with. I was invested in their stories and situations. I would definitely recommend this for romance readers!

I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

hen all roads lead home, choosing the right one is never easy…
When Tessa Meadow's plans take the A Train to disaster, she lands back in her sleepy hometown, in the middle of Pennsylvania's Amish Country, and meets Jonas Rishel whose ties to the land and his family's Amish community grow strong and deep. Will Tessa continue her journey on the superhighway to the future—or take a slow walk through the tight, close-knit culture she never dreamed she'd glimpse from the inside?
Our Review: First, we have rarely met such well-drawn characters who clearly and concisely meet the definitions of polar opposites. It was a true delight to meet them both. Second, the romance between Tessa and Jonas is almost heart breaking for its intensity as well as star-struck quality. Third, we weren’t expecting the ending and man, were we happy to have our socks knocked off. Well done, Ms. Stetson. Very well done.
On a scale of 1-5, Hometown deserves a solid 6.

It was a joy to read Hometown by Wendy Rich Stetson.
I was drawn to the story after reading the description and seeing the lovely cover. Not a reader of Amish romance books, I was pleasantly surprised this was not typical of the genre, though the Amish play a major role.
The author's descriptions planted me right into an amazing story. From the Farmer's Market to Tessa's backyard garden, you can almost smell the scenes.
After losing her job, Tessa goes home to the small town she grew up in, she's not looking for love but a way forward to life in NYC. Fate, though, has a different plan. She's drawn back into the community and meets not one but two very different men who fall in love with her. Decisions need to be made, and you can't help getting caught up.
Will she stay? Who will win her heart? Again she thinks life will work out but then near-tragedy happens. I highly recommend this sweet romance.

This is such a charming read where the characters feel like friends and you have to keep reading to find out more about their story.

After Tessa loses her job she goes back to her hometown, Green Ridge. She meets a guy at the market named Jonas who is an Amish farmer. Tessa spends her time volunteering at the hospital and finds herself day dreaming about him. However, at a charity event she meets Dr. Richard Bruce. They both fall in love with her and she has a choice to make, country or city, Jonas or Richard. Tragedy strikes that reveals to Tessa the man she really loves.

If you prefer a clean romance you will thoroughly enjoy this novel. I had an instant connection with the characters and loved that this wasn’t only about romance but also about finding yourself. I was also genuinely surprised by the ending.

Thank you Prism Book Tours for my copy of Hometown. I am crossing my fingers that this also becomes a movie!
