She, a 21st century mercenary queen, had crossed over into a tragically betrayed body of a waste. Waste? She will show them what it means to be a waste! Betrayed? With the Ancient Manual in her hands, she will astonish all the despicable men and cheap women! Wait! Didn’t everyone say that she was an evil woman which everyone feared? Why is his Third Highness, full of mystery and charisma, so interested in her?
An example of a repetitive book. It's the same plot repeated like 5 times in the same book. Do I hate it? No; if I did I wouldn't have read like 10 books along the same plot line before. It's just that in this case, you get the same plot but repeated in very slightly different ways in the SAME book. I finally conked out when I'm almost at the end. The other issue with this book, as in every book of this trope, is the pages and pages of background characters bashing the main character just to set the stage for her to shine brightly and faceslap them all right after. The book would be half the length if all that is cut out. I've learned to skim. A lot.
The other issue specific to this book is how infuriating the misunderstanding drama is due to the insensible miscommunication between the leads. One of them would suddenly zone-out in the middle of an important conversation by some random thought at the worst possible moment, especially after the other asked an intense question, making them misunderstand. Something like: ML: Do you still like that guy from your past??? FL: [That guy? Oh yeah I suddenly remember how I don't like him but I'm gonna think about it for a while] ... ML: I SEE. [turns the cold shoulder] FL: ... [still doesn't explain] [100 chapters of stupidity follows where the green tea b*tches fuel the fire] <--I wanted to stab them so bad.
The main couple's relationship is pretty iffy at some points, but as with most of these books, I take it with a grain of salt and don't apply real world logic to it too hard. With that in mind, I do like the main couple.
This is one of my favorite books in this genre. Lots of action, twists and turns in plot, sexy with a little BDSM action and lots of intimacy scenes throughout story which is unique for the Chinese fantasy romance novels I have read. The plot gets a little strange and was hard for me to keep my interest during the last few hundred chapters but overall worth reading.
