I would do anything to give her what she wants.

I try to be a good man and help when I’m needed. But because of my past I’ve accepted that I’ll never have a family of my own. That is until I met Katie. She’s everything I could ever want and her son already has me wrapped around his finger.

I would give anything to keep Katie and little Lane as my own. But the one thing Katie wants, I can’t give her. I won’t let her settle and I want all her dreams to come true. Ending it is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.

Torrid is the second book in the Whiskey Run: Savage Ink series. If you love tattooed alpha men, single mom, and surprise pregnancy stories, then you’ll love Trey and Katie’s story.

"Torrid" is the story of Katie and Treyton.

Recently divorced single mother and nurse meets sexy tattoo artist with his own hangups in this one. For some reason, I did not enjoy this one as much as the other books- maybe because of the hero's suspicions. That thread felt incomplete.

Stars: 5
Length: Novella
POV: Dual
Series: Whiskey Run: Savage Ink Book 2
Ending: HEA
Re-read? Yes

I am very rarely disappointed by a Hope Ford book. I think the only one that I didn't love was one of her early stories. Well this Whiskey Run: Savage Ink is by no means a disappointment. We have Trey and Katie. Katie is a single mom who goes into the shop Trey works at to get a tattoo. Trey, of course, immediately decides that she's the one for him. He even loves her son. However, Trey has a little "secret" that makes him think he's not good enough for Katie, that she can do better. Katie happens to disagree.

It's just another great installment to this series and I can't wait for the next one!

This was not my favorite of Hope Ford so far. I didn't love Trey. Now I didn't hate Trey either. I didn't love Trey's insecurities and that really held me back from loving this novella.

I'm still liking this Savage Ink Series. I'm thinking I need to try some of these other characters that keep popping in.

The couple: Trey and Katie

Romance trope: single mother; tattoo artist
Series: Whisky Run: Savage Ink
Length: 120 pages

Plot: Katie has been thinking about getting a tattoo, so her friend sends her to Savage Ink and Trey. Trey wants to mark Katie in all ways possible once he meets her, but she has a young son and an ex-husband to deal with. She deserves everything and he's not sure he can give it to her.

Commentary: I do wish his actual name had been Trey and not Treyton. Treyton sounds like a soccer's mom attempt at being unique (or maybe a scientific measurement for some marine phenomena).
I was a little irritated with the way he did the whole "leaving you for your own good" and then she convinced him she loved him and that's all she needed, and then he saw her hold a baby and started it all over again, leaving her miserable and alone. I'm just a grouch I guess because I could never bee as forgiving as so many of these heroines are.

Previous book in the series: Virile
Next book in the series: Rigid

He breaks up with her then they’re apart for weeks and it takes her half a chapter to forgive him? She made me sick. He was no better. DNF.

Katie is a single mom looking to get a tattoo. She walks into Savage Ink and meets Trey. There’s an undercurrent of electricity between them from the moment they meet. Katie is at low point since her divorce and can’t believe that Trey would be interested in her. Trey has been feeling lost and even though he’s not looking for a relationship, the connection he has with Katie and then her son is undeniable. Unfortunately the secret he keeps might might be enough to tear he and Katie apart. This is book two in this new series and another awesome read. They story is engaging and has you pulling for Katie and Trey in hopes they work through their issues. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This series is a spin off from the authors original Whiskey Run and its just as fun as its predecessor. Hope Ford is known for her quick reads with happily ever afters. But she's the top of the authors who write in that arena. Always well thought out stories & developed characters.

Usually I always love Hope Ford books but this one just wasn't very happy...

There was one thing in this book that bothered me and it's the trope of a medical issue being miraculously solved but instead of being happy for them in reality it's insulting to people actually dealing with that issue of male infertility. I did round it to 3 stars though because adoption was discussed as well and happened at the end.

Love this spin-off! Highly recommend these novellas and novelettes!

This is the second story in the Savage Ink spin-off of the Whiskey Run series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend both series be read in publication date order for maximum reader satisfaction. There are some reoccurring characters, including the town matchmaker and diner owner, Violet.

Just like the original series, this series are also very fast reads, with a surprising amount of detail built in. I just love series that have multiple contributions / branches, as the continuity really breathes life into everything … plus it is good to see Violet still play a part even after giving birth. 🥰

I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. I only noticed one area that contains inconsistent data concerning the length of time they have known each other, so grammatically this is really solid. I uploaded my note to goodreads for anyone interested.

⛔️ Contains scenes that may be a trigger or offensive for sensitive readers. These include adult language and adult intimate scenes.

Here is how the story begins:

Katie is a nurse and helps Violet with her lactation after giving birth. This leads to a referral for a tattoo artist, as that is something she has always wanted to get, and she is going to get it to celebrate her divorce. Violet tells her that Treyton, not Aiden, is the artist for her, that he can give her everything she needs, um, wants. Life happens and Katie has to cancel her appointment a couple of times.

Fast forward 6 weeks … She knows what she wants, but is nervous about it. Finally she enters and whoa … the voice that she hears causes a reaction … tingles up and down her spine. She finally makes herself open her eyes, but Katie is having a hard time concentrating on what is being said. Treyton is buff and gorgeous, and way out of her league. She is not sure she can survive having his hands on her. Ready to cancel again, Treyton gets her to at least discuss what she wanted, why and any concerns she has about getting a tattoo now.

Then Katie gets a call from her friend, fellow nurse, and her son’s babysitter for the night, letting her know that Lane was in the hospital ER. For some reason Treyton doesn’t want to let her out of his sight, plus she is naturally upset, so he insists on driving Katie to Jasper. Nothing wrong with that, right?

Treyton is very fascinated with Katie and Lane is a good kid. He finds himself interacting with him almost from the beginning. He even, with Katie’s blessing, agrees to ‘tattoo’ Lane’s cast. The next morning he arranges to have her car brought from his shop and gets the material to fix the clubhouse railing that caused Lane to fall. Treyton is falling hard for the two of them, but he knows that he can’t give Katie what she wants. Should he walk away now?s

I really liked this book. It was funny that I usually read a book twice before reviewing; once to enjoy it and once to pick out what to talk about in the review. But I had to read this 3 times because when I read it for the second time I got caught up in the story again and forgot to pay attention to what I wanted to talk about.

This story was really good. Katie is a nurse and single mother of a 5-year-old boy, Luke. Treyton (Trey) is a partner of Aidan (from Savage Ink book 1) and another tattoo artist. She has recently divorced from a jerk who was cheating on her during their marriage. A fellow nurse suggests that she go get a tattoo to celebrate and send her to Trey. Insta-attraction! But when she gets a call that Luke has broken his arm, he takes her to the hospital and is a great support to her. Luke's father comes to the house while Trey is still there. He implies she is a slut for "hooking up" so soon after the divorce. What a jerk! Trey spends a lot of time with Katie and Luke and it is going well for a while until she says she wants more kids. He believes he is infertile from an accident he had as a young man, so he breaks it off with her, because he thinks he can't make her happy.

They are both miserable, of course, and then one day at work, Katie faints. Her friend calls Trey, who comes immediately to the hospital. Turns out she is pregnant and he thinks she is getting back together with her ex. Some arguments ensue, but they reach an understanding.

I liked the way the characters changed their viewpoint on things. She realizes that maybe not having any more natural children would be OK. He realizes that he loves her and wants to do anything he can to make her happy, and if she is willing to be with him, he should take it and not worry that some time in the future she might be disappointed in not having more kids of her own.

One thing really bugged me. This is one of my pet peeves in a series of books. In Savage Ink book 1, Aiden and Gracie have a little girl that they named Jessica. Now in this book suddenly it's Aidan Jr, called AJ. Really? Why?

Overall, a very nice book and I recommend it.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the Whiskey Run Savage Ink series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Katie sweet, a nurse, single mom with the sweetest little five year old and divorced from a jerk who she caught cheating only to find out he did it during their marriage. Trey sexy as all get out tattoo artist partner of Aidan and meets Katie who came to get a tattoo to celebrate freedom from the jerk. The chemistry is instant and intense, the magnetic pull can’t be ignored. After Luke broke his arm and her husband well ex shows up calling her all kinds of names assuming she hooked up with someone right after their divorce but ignoring him she continues to get to know Trey until she mentions more babies and that of course sends him running due to an accident he had when he was younger leaving him sterile or so he thinks. He feels like he can’t make her happy because of the leaving both of them to be miserable until she faints while at work finding out she is pregnant where it lead Trey, will he accept the fact that she is pregnant, will they follow their hearts and can they be happy?

STORY:
This was a nice short quickie read that I absolutely enjoyed. What I love the most, I can relate to Katie. She is a mom, divorced and feels insecure about her body, such a very relatable character that spoke to me. Trey was everything, he was tattooed and sexy, but within, the sweetest guy towards Katie and Lane, her son. Watching their story, it went in to full speed mode, but you are still getting enjoyment from it.

SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Sexually, because it’s a quickie it was satisfactory but would have liked a bit more because I like the chemistry/connection.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
It was nice seeing Aiden and Gracie from book 1. Also, we are introduced, sort of, to Dawson and to Emily. I am looking forward to their story.

OVERALL:
A sweet and nice read that makes you smile throughout the story.

TRIGGERS:

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.

The Whiskey Run series of books are great. They are quick reads with instant love and a HEA. But there is always a bump in the road to overcome. The men are all alpha and protective of their women. If you enjoy all that then any of the Whiskey Run books are for you.

Treyton is Aiden's best friend and co-worker at Savage Ink and he regrets that he pushed Aiden to forget about Gracie now he sees them together as a family he craves that for himself. But he'll never be allowed to have it. He just needs to get over it and move on.

Katie wants to move on from her ex and cover the scars he metaphorically left. When she arrives for her tattoo at Savage Ink she doesn't expect the instant connection to Trey and decides that it's all wrong for her to get a tattoo after all. Trey does his best to sway her but when her son Lane is hurt everything is put on hold.

Trey races Katie to the hospital and doesn't leave her side. He doesn't understand why but he can't let her go. He just has to be near her. Even the next day when he should be enjoying some much needed time off he finds himself at her house mending the treehouse so Lane won't be hurt again.

Their bond grows but when Trey realises she wants something he can't give he pushes her away. Both are too stubborn and miserable to try and fix the problem until Katie collapses at work. Trey realises his mistake and sets out to get her back. Somehow he'll make up for his shortcomings if she'll let him.

Katie is a nurse with a 5 year old son who just went through a divorce. Katie was trying to get the nerve up to get a tattoo to celebrate the divorce and one of her patients recommended their friend Treyton. Katie made the appointment but kept rescheduling because of nerves. When she finally arrived, she was about to chicken out again until Treyton just took her in to talk and settles her nerves. He made Katie feel like a beautiful woman again. Then before they could get to the tattoo, Katie's babysitter called and told her her son fell out of the treehouse and broke his arm. Treyton knew Katie was so upset that she shouldn't drive so he took her to the ER. Treyton did everything he could in the next feel days to make things easier for Katie. His caring made Katie fall in love with him.

Treyton has made it a rule in his life to stick to one night stands. He has resigned himself to being single the rest of his life because no woman would have him if they knew his secret. Then he meets Katie and her son. He knows that they are going through a rough time so he wants to make things better. He starts falling for Katie and breaks his one night rule. When Katie tells him she loves him, he starts to push her away thinking he isn't good enough for her.

'Torrid' by Hope Ford is the second book in her Whiskey Run:Savage Ink series and tells the story between Katie and Trey. Katie, is a nurse and a single mother to Luke a 5 year old boy, and Trey, a tattoo artist who Katie goes to for a tattoo. Katie wants to celebrate finally being divorced from her cheating ex but what she doesn't expect to feel an attraction to her tattoo artist.

Ms. Hope has written a great addition to her series. Katie and Trey had a sizzling chemistry that leaped off the pages and Luke was a perfect little Cupid. This story had heart, drama, interfering exes, misunderstandings, and plenty of heat. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to to anyone who likes a quick but satisfying read with their coffee or glass of wine. The only discrepancy that I didn't understand was the sex and name change of Aidan and Gracie's child from the first book Not sure why their baby went from a little girl named Jessica to a little boy named Aiden Junior. Maybe it'll be explained in the next book? Regardless, it won't stop me from reading the next book.

Amazing book! Wonderful quick read. A HEA that is awesome!

Katie meets Treyton when her friend Jamie makes an appointment for her at Savage Ink. Katie cancels the appointment twice before finally walking into the tattoo shop. Katie doesn't get her tattoo that evening because of an accident that happens at home. Treyton takes Katie to her son then stays with them. The next day Treyton shows up and fixes a few things Katie's ex-husband has been putting off doing. Treyton feels a connection to Katie and can't figure it out. Katie knows she want to get to know Treyton but thinks he doesn't feel the same. Treyton tries to end things after a one night stand but when he goes to leave Katie is all torn up and he can't leave her, he feels a real connection to her. Katie wants to find the right man and marry and have more kids. Treyton knows that he's not capable of those things. Treyton and Katie break up because he doesn't feel he is enough for her. Katie winds up in the hospital only to have Treyton rush to her side. Treyton finds out the impossible is possible and the HEA they both wanted is achievable.

I'm ok with mediocre writing even skipping massive detail in a book to make it a fun quick read, but a writer that doesn't even know characters from their own book or even, maybe purposefully changes characters names and sexes for a second book is just not good for me. The wrongness settles and I just can no longer focus on the characters or story, because there is always this nagging wonder what will not follow the storyline or character line down the road. I read single title books for the simple enjoyment of a story, but I like series books for the enjoyment of a deeper, but consistent story arc. Anyway this was only my second book by this author and I highly doubt I will be reading much else, since I wasn't highly impressed with first book and completely disappointed in the authors writing integrity on this second book. If your looking for a fast fun read and don't mind character changes from one book to another, this might be for you. Sadly I'm an avid in depth reader and require a bit more from my authors and my books.

We met Trey in AIden and Gracie's story (Virile) and naturally I was curious about his story. Well, Trey carries a secret and it's one that keeps him closed off from women. Then he meets Katie and he's hooked. But as quickly as they meet she's running out the door due to an emergency with her five year old son, Lane. Trey goes with her and from there we have the start of their journey together. I love how Trey handled the ex-husband (he wasn't abusive or anything, just a cheating jerk); Trey just showed that Katie now had someone in her corner. Katie was all in with Trey even after his secret came out, which was so sad. But of course, Trey doesn't deal well and eventually ends it breaking both of their hearts. They were both miserable and so was Lane. Until one phone call puts everything in perspective for Trey and then he's rushing to Katie's side. I love all of Hope Ford's characters but Trey and Katie are my new favorite!! Looking forward to Emily and Dawson's story.

4.5 stars Treyton aka Trey works at Savage and his Aiden's best friend as well. When Katie, a newly divorced single mom, walks in to get a tattoo he is instantly drawn to her. When she backs out he tries to find out why and convince her to get it. While she is there she gets a call from her best friend who is watching her son Lane that he has been hurt. Trey offers to take her to the hospital and thus their story begins. He is there helping her out with Lane and fixing up the treehouse where Lane got hurt. AS they begin to grow close, Trey reveals a secret that even his best friend does not know. He begins to pull back and distant himself from her and Lane until something happens. It is a good read and the ending was the best part. I am excited to find out what happens with Dawson and Emily. The way it ended leaves me hoping their story is soon.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Katie is trying to finally keep an appointment her best friend made for her. She wants a tattoo to represent a new beginning and to cover up some painful memories of her past. She has a young son who is priceless. She is not at all what Treyton expected for his next customer. These two have an instant connection that continues to grow thru kindness, attraction and family. She and Trey are really great people who deserve to be happy. Their goals for the future are heartbreaking different which tears him away from her. Picking up the pieces of their hearts afterwards is made even more complicated by a tiny miracle. I really enjoyed their love story. Lane also had his life improved by Treyton and that was a big part of their story.

Fantastic read

Fantastic second book of the series. Katie meets Trey when she walks into the tattoo shop this time she has actually made it as the other times has cancelled her slot. Katie receives a phone call to say that her son Lane has been in an accident but is at the hospital Trey insists on taking her to the hospital then he stays and takes them home and he is always around then.
Katie and Trey never seem to be apart or talking with each other until the one night they talk about the future and kids are brought up and Trey realises that he needs to let her go as he can’t give her what she wants but is surprised when Katie has passed out at work and even though they are not together anymore Katie’s friend rings him and he doesn’t hesitate to be at her side the last few weeks without Katie have been hard for him he can’t function without her and needs to tell her that.

This is book number 2 of the Whiskey Run: Savage Ink series and focuses on Trey and Katie. Katie goes to get a tattoo with Trey when she gets a call that her son Lane has been injured and is at the hospital. Trey drives her to the hospital and stays around for the week following the accident. They start a relationship and Trey tells her his big secret of not being able to have kids after their first night together. Trey doesn't feel like he is enough for her so he breaks up with her and subsequently breaking his, Katie's, and Lane's heart in the process. Thankfully they get a perfect HEA! This was such a great story! I loved this addition to the series and I really hope we get Dawson and Emily's story next!

The second book in Hope Ford's Whiskey Run: Savage Ink series is Torrid, and it is a deliciously steamy, swoon-worthy romance. Treyton is a tattoo artist, feeling a little at odds since his best friend, Aiden, has coupled up and is disgustingly happy with a wife and baby. Then nurse, recent-divorcee and single mother Katie walks into Savage Ink after her friends push her into following through on a long-held desire. Sparks fly from the moment Trey and Katie meet - and when a medical emergency stops the tattoo and leads Trey to meet Katie's five-year-old son Lane, he quickly falls for the kid as well. This is a sizzling, entertaining read with wonderful characters, another hit for Hope Ford's excellent series.

If you have read any of the Whiskey Run books, you know that Violet is the town matchmaker. Her latest victims are Treyton and Katie. Treyton is not looking for anything since his last relationship went bad, Katie is looking for a tattoo that her divorce is final. Both did not count on being instantly attracted to each other.

This story is filled with so many emotions, heartache, love, and chemistry which all leads to a steamy story and is a page turner. The character as so likable that you want everything to work out for them. I keep up on all of Hope’s new books and I would highly recommend this book.

Holy crap this story had me crying. This was the sweets story I have read that made me cry for a long time. You would never think that a man like Trey would be as sweet, caring, loving, possessive, and protective as he is within minutes of meeting Katie. Then with her son, he was even better. As soon as he meets them both something just clicks. I knew right away that this man would be the perfect one for her. He is such a gentleman also. Let me say I did not want this story to end at all. But of course, it has to. As we need to have Dawson and Emily's story next in the series. Great way Hope has led us into their little HEA.

Torrid is a fast moving love story that will have you lost in the pages from the start. Trey is a tattoo artist and Katie is a nurse. When Violet directs Katie toward Savage Ink, she knows what she is doing.

I love the connection and passion Trey has not only for Katie but for her son, Lane. Just after meeting her for a moment, he knows that there is something that pulls him toward her that he wants to make sure to keep the smile on her face. Trey and Katie's journey is filled with heart and desire, love of family and strength to get through the unthinkable.

Grab a drink, and get comfortable. You do not want you miss this beautiful love story.

I'm liking these stories about the residents of Whiskey Run and the people they love! This is Torrid - Savage Ink book 2. Katie is a divorced mother who works as a nurse. When she decides to get a tattoo, Treyton is the man for the job. Can she overcome her insecurities and accept everything Trey is offering? Can Trey get past his insecurities to welcome a HEA? I like this story! Trey is shown to be very caring & protective in the way he interacts with Katie and the people in her circle. I enjoyed Katie's evolution to a woman who will only accept what's best for her. This is a short & spicy romance, told in dual POV, with realistic emotions, a good plot and a feel-good ending! Very entertaining!

Nurse and recently divorced single mom Katie loves children and wants a fresh start - with a tattoo. A crappy ex-husband has left her needing a man who cares enough about their child to repair the treehouse. When her best friend makes her an appointment at Savage Ink, hunky tattoo artist Trey takes one look and wants to be everything to Katie and her son. There's only one problem: he fears that what she really wants is something he cannot give. When fate steps in to give Katie and Trey a chance to have it all, will they grab it or let it slip away? I loved this cute romance with characters from the first book in the series.

Was good until the third act breakup and stupid pregnancy.
What is the point of the author having a major plot line of the guy having a 0.1% chance of having children having accidental pregnancy after a couple of weeks. PISS RIGHT OFF.
I was excited because I thought the author was going to explore adoption or IVf route, but nope ruined the whole story. And NO, the epilogue did not make it better.
And if this author doesn't come up with baby names other than the stupid dads name as a junior.. dear lord, we are like 4 books in a row. This is ridiculous. Google boy names for crying out loud.
Whiskey run appears to be the most fertile town on earth as these women all get pregnant within a day 🙄🙄 education system clearly broken there.
