While Ania gets a little less angst and destiny-anxiety (and thus, in a fairly flat world like that of Star Wars, little to no interiority beyond those parameters) than Cade Skywalker, I think I like this tail end stretch of the chronology better than its earlier iteration.

The scenarios are all surprising, the art is fun and consistent, the world feels appropriately populated (even just trandoshan [sp?] storm troopers is cool) in addition to drawing from weird and fun corners of that very rich and varied old-canon lore, and the baddie’s longcon arc (though a touch exposition-bombed in at the close) feels real, feels plausible, and is moving.

And it doesn’t feel like an end to SW, but rather like a goodbye, a sincere one. Toward the close of the collection, Empress Fel notes that history has a way of continuing whether or not we disagree with it, and that feels emblematic of the undead, mined and puppeteered new continuity we have to grapple with now (sometimes they hit, often they miss).

I’m glad I finally came to this, though it feels a little like I too am saying goodbye to the franchise, like somehow this one, by loving it as much as I do, has loosened my grip on the whole enterprise.

Original Series Retro Review May 2016:
This is all considered non-canon now and falls under the category now listed as Legends or alternate timeline. Personally, this timeline will be canon but even without factoring that personal opinion in, I loved seeing the far future of the Star Wars family names we have all come to love and hate. If you are a Star Wars fan, I highly recommend checking out this graphic novel series. If you are not a SW fan but love science fiction and graphic novels, I recommend checking it out, it is set up far enough in the future that having no knowledge of SW characters really will not hamper you enjoyment.

Series Reread Review April 2026:
I always love going back to this future-set series. Yes, it's non-canon and yes, I enjoy Disney's timeline but the original SWEU that is now under the Legends umbrella will always be what comes to mind when I think "canon". However you look at it, if you're a SW fan then I'm sure you'll love it too. With alternate timelines and multiverse being a popular avenue for Hollywood in recent years, if it helps to look at Legends like that, then do so, it's kind of what I do, after all, I spent too much money and time invested in the original SWEU to just forget it. There are family names you'll recognize and new ones, put them all together and you have an incredibly entertaining future story. Outside the SW universe, graphic novels are not really my thing but I do love them here and though I wouldn't have minded experiencing this era in full-length novels, graphic novels fits them to a tee especially for those who don't have the time to invest in novel re-reads.

It was ok. I think the biggest issues here are 1 they don't take the time to develop or make you care about the characters until the story is almost over. At that point you aren't going to change our minds much about the characters and their stories.

2 I think the legacy comics hurt the universe as a whole. They practically destroy everything built up during the books post rotj. I'm not a fan of that whatsoever.

3. They're trying to develop intricate political schemes and fighting through this format. It doesn't work. It'll either be too vague or too in depth to truly explain, it makes it far too tough to understand the conflicts, much less enjoy them (This goes especially for the prior legacy stories, but these too)

4. Last but not least despite the intricacies and political world building and slow developing characters, the plot just isn't that good either. It's not bad, in fact it's probably the best way they could have continued with what was left from the other legacy stories. But its still not good.

I think I was always more excited for the Legacy comics in concept than in execution. The legacy of the Skywalkers/Solos feels as poorly realized here as it did with the recent Disney films, with the exception maybe if Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. Ania Solo just isn’t that compelling and Jao feels like a flat character. The idea that AG-37 might be an evolution of IG-88 is pretty fascinating, but Antares and Empress Fel also feel far more boring than I remembered them being in the original Legacy run. Other than wanting kill off ALL the Sith, I’m not really sure what grander purpose this may have served. The art also feels really bleh throughout 50-60% of this run, often feeling grungy without any of the spectacle you’d also expect from Star Wars.

And thus, the Legends SW timeline finally comes to an end. After 30 long years. And it ends with the sith finally being wiped out, but yet fascism still exists. Beings are still brutally tortured under an evil dictatorship, and the last page is not of triumph over evil, but a bitter call to arms. Thus giving the message that evil can never be defeated and no matter what happens, the dark side will always come back.

What a depressing end to the Legends era. Not to mention seeing how all the Skywalker/Solo descendants are a far cry from their ancestors.

After the end of the excellent Legacy comic series ended, Dark Horse produced a second Legacy series that focuses on the mysterious Ania Solo and takes place after the end of previous series. The story sees a Sith come out of the shadows and begin slaughtering the remaining hidden Sith. The story's not bad. It's not nearly as good as the Cade Skywalker story, but it's not a terrible story. The biggest problem with this series is the art. The art is dark and muddy, on it's own it might not be as bad, but after the excellent Jan Duursema art of the previous series, this is a major jump down in clarity and quality. This collection also includes a couple weird stories from the comic Star Wars Visionaries and a story from the Star Wars Tales series.

Rip C3-PO

Wasn't that into it at first because it had nothing to do with Cade, but it was actually pretty good.
