While we may not be able to control what happens, we can control how we react, think, and feel. Choose to thrive not just survive. Another wonderful read by the one and only Joel Osteen. Wonderful, uplifting stories to help you rule your day. Loved it! I thank Netgalley and FaithWords for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This is Nonfiction/Religion-Christian. I like this author and his messages. He is beyond positive and in that he has found his niche.
There were lots of positive affirmations here....BUT, I always feel like saying, "Is that all?" I will always read this author because he is great with the good vibes. However with that said, this one leaves me feeling like this was the moisturizer, when what I need is exfoliation. So 3 stars for the positivity.
Positivity is essential in living a faithful and light-filled life. We can’t control hardships, disappointments, and failures that come our way, but we can control how we react (or don’t) to them.
Something a physical therapist told me one time has really stayed with me. “Garbage in, garbage out.” She was referring to how diet affects your productivity and how you feel and age. But the same goes for your mind and heart. What you surround yourself with, what you read, see, say, hear—all these things affect you. That’s why it’s important to Rule Your Day and take control of your attitude, reactions, mindset, tongue, etc.
This is a book that will help you grow and shine your light. And perhaps, in turn, your actions might light a fire in someone else’s life as well.
Disclosure: #CoverLoverBookReview received a complimentary copy of this book.
This book really helped me to see the light in another day after my father passed away. I hardly recommend it. The four stars are just because I want it to last longer.
This book was confirmation to me that if I do not give up and give in to negative thoughts and words from others I will live to see my dreams manifest.
Reading a book by Joel Osteen is akin to spending several hours listening to his sermons and getting a massive pep talk. Rule Your Day is no exception.
The message of the book begins with the reminder that while you cannot prevent negativity in others, you ultimately have control over what you allow to influence your personal environment. The rest of the book is a variation on that theme, with steps and advice intended to help the reader keep negative people and other bad influences from derailing your outlook.
Pastor Osteen's books are rooted in Christianity and biblical teachings, though his message will resonate with people of other faiths as well.
Thank you to Netgalley and FaithWords for the opportunity to read an e-ARC of Rule Your Day. The opinions in this review are my own.
A beautiful look though how to utilize your inner light in life and how to make your life brighter. Pun intended. Highly recommend. Especially loved the reflection to true life to humanize my feelings and relate. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I don't know many of us that aren't facing challenges in these days and times. One things I can always count on is that Joel Osteen will help me get my mind going in the right direction. Rule Your Day is a great book to remind yourself that you don't have to give way to negative thoughts. Instead, Rule Your Day encourages readers to rule their attitude and thoughts each day when they get up in the morning.
Rule Your Day is a fairly small book that is a quick read. However, Osteen offers easy to follow and understand advice for keeping your mind on the things that help you look towards God and serving Him each day. Each chapter in this book offers some advice, Bible verses and stories from Osteen's life that relate to each point he is making. If you are struggling to see the good in a situation or in each day, I encourage you to pick this book up and to begin applying the principles in it. It is a good pep talk for any Christian who needs one.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.
Osteen gives readers another good book full of encouragement. His first topic is our thoughts. “You don't have control over what other people do, but you do have control over your thoughts, your attitudes, and how you respond.” (92/1368) That means we need to guard our thoughts. We are to dwell on the positive, the hopeful, not the negative.
I really like that Osteen emphasizes we must stay in contact with God. We are to get our direction from Him every morning. We need to be open to God's plan and to changes He directs. We might wonder why God would do things in a new way. So we will not act out of routine or habit. “God changes the method on purpose so we have to come to Him for daily bread.” (387/1368) Also, God sees things we do not. “Everything is not what it seems.” (489/1368) He sees beyond the surface and will direct us accordingly.
Osteen goes on to teach about the tongue and how we speak steers our life. He encourages us to help others solve their problems, essential to solving our own. He wonders what we miss when we focus on ourselves. We cannot allow ourselves to be distracted from our purpose. Osteen reveals the disaster of valuing what others think more than what God has told us to do. And we are to be like the palm tree, bouncing back after a storm.
I like how Osteen uses stories from the Bible to illustrate his teaching. He also has plenty of examples from his own life and the lives of others. His writing is clear, easy to understand, and so very encouraging. This is a good book for any Christian needing positive encouragement to follow through the dream God has given.
Food for thought: “Go be a blessing.” (904/1368)
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Absolutely loved this message of verbally affirming positive thoughts in your daily life and rejecting the negative ones. 1. I am healthy. 2. I am loved. 3. I am worthy. 4. I am prosperous. 5. I am victorious. You are what you believe you are, not what other people say you are. Great book for Women Ministries Bible Study Groups!
I don't believe in God. However, this book has basic morals and ideals that are good to follow in your daily life. "Don't let bad control you, don't worry about things you can't control...etc."
Another nitpick I had with this book as that it keeps referring to the reader as "a king," again, I don't believe in God nor am I Christian, and it might mean something to everyone else, but I don't like it personally. Just refer to the reader as "you" or along those lines. Make it inclusive to everyone regardless of who it is. That's all.
Joel Osteen's new book Rule Your Day is an uplifting, inspiring and reminder that we need to keep looking for guidance and keep positive words flowing in our lives. Using examples from the bible and the people that God has spoken to and aided over the centuries, we're shown how speaking God's promises over our lives can keep us feeling blessed and reassured even in our darkness times. Stay grateful and know that the Lord is with you always!
Rule Your Day by Joel Osteen is an inspiring book aimed to maximize your success and accelerate your dreams. Divided into six chapters, Pastor Joel addresses the delays, distractions, and disappointments that affect your ability to live your best life. Through Bible references and personal anecdotes, he demonstrates how you can control your emotions, attitudes, and thoughts in order to rule your day. When encountering setbacks, he shows you how to rise above your circumstances and guard yourself from the negativity. I especially liked chapter two, Daily Direction. Starting each day with some quiet time with God will enable you to face adversity with a fresh perspective. God will lead you down the right path. You just need to listen with an open heart and mind. If you're looking for a quick, uplifting read filled with encouragement and positivity, this book is for you.
I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
It takes decades to understand yourself ,your flaws, the challenges and your purpose in life. We often gets engaged in petty things which author calls as distraction in journey of your goal. He mentions various effective ways how not loose piece of mind, stay in good company, keep your gut feeling as priority, don't get bothered and pressured by others.
There are various examples in scriptures as well as his own through which he proves his point.
In his latest book, "Rule Your Day," Pastor Joel consistently provides direction for how to talk to God, how to sit still and listen, and how to surrender our will to the will of the Holy Spirit. I especially like the discussion in chapter two, "Daily Direction".
Discipline! Joel reminded me to greet the Holy Spirit, giving thanks to the Lord for a new day, and asking for what my assignment is for the day. I like the idea of checking in with God for all of my decisions throughout the day. Takes the pressure off me. Thy will be done!
Sometimes, I get an inkling to check the drive time before I leave for a particular destination. I already know how to get there, so I wouldn't need to check to see how long it will take. Usually, I just assume everything is normal and I head out. But sometimes, when I acknowledge the "inkling", that little nudge to look at something more carefully, I find out that I need to choose an alternate route or leave earlier in order to get there on time.
That's seems like a small thing. But, if I don't listen, small irritations pile up and suddenly, my day is "ruined" and my mood is foul. God can't work through me when my emotions are sour and my mind is ruminating on the chaos and disorder in my life.
It's my choice how I want to learn the lessons, life throws at me. Smooth or rough. Gentle or frustrating. Confused or with clear vision.
In "Rule Your Day," Pastor Joel reminds me that I am responsible for following God's guidance. My actions impact other people. As a Christian, the mission is to show others the way to reach the Kingdom of God.
Even if I don't see how my choice makes a difference one way or the other, Holy Spirit has complete knowledge of how my actions impact other people's actions and journey.
I'm glad I read, "Rule Your Day." I'm even more glad that I've chosen to practice what he's preaching. The Holy Spirit exists to help us bring order to the chaos of our daily lives.
Read this book. Apply the lessons on a daily basis. Help win more souls to the Kingdom. Enjoy God's favor.

He teaches you how to identify faulty thinking, recast your vision for the future, rise above your circumstances, guard your heart and mind against negativity, and transcend distractions to focus on what matters most. Pastor Joel Osteen is uplifting, and positive in a world full of negativity. He shows how our thinking changes our perceptions of the future. If we think negatively, then we live negatively. But he doesn’t go on and on boring the reader, he writes intelligently and succinctly. And, I learned how I needed to change my own thinking to turn my life in a positive direction. Thank you to NetGalley and FaithWords for this Advanced Reader’s Copy. This review is my unbiased opinion.
I’ve been so blessed to have had the opportunity to read this book! This book has been a real game changer for me. Joel talks about how we may not be able to control all of our circumstances in our daily lives, but we can control how we respond. We can control our thoughts, our emotions and our attitudes. This book is written in such a way that it feels like Joel is preaching directly to you. I love how Joel teaches us how to apply the word of God to our every day lives. He uses examples from our heroes of faith and different challenges that they faced and we are still facing today. He uses these examples to teach us how they overcame how with the Wor of God. It just further proves that scripture is still as relevant today as it was all those years ago. Joel also uses examples from His own experiences as well as from other people to show you how although there could be negativity all around you you don’t have to let that get down in your spirit. He teaches us how to overcome by controlling our atmosphere and going to God each and every day for our daily bread. I highly recommend this book and it has been just such an eye-opener for me. I am using what I learned in this book in applying it to my life and I’m also passing on what I have learned to my children so they too can rule their day!! I thank God for all I’ve learned by reading this book and applying it to my everyday life! Thank you, Joel Osteen!!
This book has been so helpful to me. Like so many people right now, I hit a low patch at the beginning of the New Year - I was discouraged and worn out. I was offered the chance to review this book, and while the title struck me as odd, Joel Osteen’s teachings have helped me out of pits before, so I gave it a chance. I’m glad I did. The book is about how God gives us the power and the tools to set the “internal atmosphere” for our lives - our outlook, optimism, hope & faith, how we feel inside & how we perceive the larger picture - no matter what is going on around us. The chapters are specific, actionable, and based on the Bible. Reading these pages lifted me up - but not in that temporary way that happens with motivational books that are just based on cheerleading and human effort. This was more like seeds of hope, vision, encouragement & faith that we’re planted in me and are still popping up & flowering. A much needed antidote to toxic optimism & “boss babe” hustle culture. Highly recommend.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book.
Oh my God, literally this book is AMAZING! It immediately improved all aspects of my life. More peace, more confidence, More love, healthy boundaries and of course number one, growing closer to God everyday. There are 6 rules to follow embrace, digest and practice which help to gain control of your life heading towards your best life. One of my favorite rules is about distractions and focus. You will find out how distractions are keeping you from your purpose and how to set your face and take control of this. We all have precious amounts of time on earth so this chapter helped me to realize I have a purpose and not to waste time in order to realize my purpose. This book gives you the freedom to let go, and let God’s promise take you where you need to be. We are all living on the same planet with the same struggles. This is why I’m sharing this review on what this book means to me. It definitely is a life saver!
I highly recommend this book. It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read. I’ve learned how to manage my time better, how to prioritize my day, what to ignore, and what to invest time in. I’ve learned how to recognize distractions and how to focus on what matters. This will help you see yourself as God sees you and reach success in your every day life. It will help you realize as you help others achieve success, that God will help you rise higher as well. As you do what you can do, God will take care of what you cannot do. Joel Osteen gives examples in the lives of people he’s known as well as biblical examples. This book will change your life for the better.
I have never read an Osteen book before so I decided to read this short book, which was free through the local library online resources. Pastor Joel is certainly positive, uplifting and cheerful. He uses language I am familiar with growing up charismatic. There are even nuggets of good truth in it: the faithfulness of God, the power of your words, and trusting in God when it looks rough…
BUT Osteen makes the favor and blessings of God formulaic, as if he is a genie in a bottle. Say the right words, believe the right things and you’re guaranteed to go farther and get through whatever is going on in your life. I think it’s great to pray and believe with expectation, but this mindset ultimately leaves little room for sanctification and assumes suffering isn’t something God can use to build more faith and endurance in us.
I believe Joel is a fellow believer, he mentions his belief in the resurrection at least twice in this book,!but he needs to preach the gospel more than he does, especially given the size of his platform. As always, you have to eat the meat and spit out the bones. You can learn something from error. Would I read this book again? No. I probably would avoid Osteen’s books in the future unless I read a review of it before hand. You certainly can tell that Osteen doesn’t have theological training. He has been given a great gift of communication, public speaking, and being a peacemaker. I just wish he would spend more time in his book, and in his sermons, to the person of Jesus. Is it good to partner with God? Yes. Is it good to follow dreams? Sure. But we also serve the triune God who is bigger than our dreams and has better things for us, whether we want them or not, and sometimes lets us experience loss, dependency, pain, or financial struggles to grow our faith more.
I was a part of the pre-launch for Rule Your Day. The book is complete with life lessons and experiences from Pastor Joel Osteen and his family. Joel, Victoria, Dotie, Lisa, and the entire family are regular individuals like you and I and share many of the same highs and lows that we ALL experience. What Joel describes through great stories and experiences are methods for us to "hear" God through scripture and "listen" to his vibrant words so that we do. not steer in the direction of the enemy but to God.
Rule Your Day will help you rewire your thinking so that your focus is simply and lovingly on faith. Focusing on God and his words helps you to live a free life. By listening to Joel's stories you will be able to focus your thoughts on good and night evil. Your life, your thoughts, your words will become vibrant. And, as you rework the negative into positive thoughts you will experience more love, more life, more warmth, and higher energy. By reading this book and renewing your faith in God, you will not only Rule Your Day but you will definitely, willingly, and lovingly Rule Your Life!!
I highly recommend not delaying, not thinking about it but truly, ordering the book either as an ebook so you can immediately begin the transformation or a hardcopy. Just taking action is a sign from God, reading is another sign, and changing your life is you hearing his voice for positive change.
A rather quick dive into the self-improvement tactics proposed by one of the successful pastors from Texas, US. It reveals the strength and appeal of manipulation techniques used within the Christian doctrine that proved to be effective while subordinating hundreds of millions over the last 20 centuries. However, also shows inconclusiveness of ideas and not-MECE (mutually exclusive cumulatively exhaustive) character of presented thoughts (overlaps, inconsistencies, missing aspects and overstretched assumptions).
Some notes worth taking away (after disconnecting from the political content): 1. Rule Your Day - don't let others bring you down and choose your companions wisely (average of 5) 2. Daily Direction - the power of improvement lies in forming habits and making little steps 3. Keep Speaking Victory - the self-strength resides in reaffirmation of positive thoughts 4. The Secret of Solving Problems - good deeds reciprocate and they provide a well-needed change of context / mindset for solving one's own problem 5. No More Distractions - choose the battles that are worth fighting 6. Ready to Rise - be ready for failure and springboard from it quickly as it is part of the journey
Wow praise for the book “Rule Your Day” by Joel Osteen.
Pastor Joel Osteen encourages readers to live days filled with victory, adoration, and faith. You want to enjoy every second, develop into your best self, have fulfilling relationships, and realize your aspirations. But, obstacles like delays, disappointments, and distractions constantly thwart your plans and neutralize your good intentions. Although if you have no control over anything in life, you do have power over how unforeseen setbacks effect your attitude, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.
In this book, the author shows you how to live intentionally and Rule Your Day by revealing six keys for claiming control over each new day. His teaching on how to identify faulty thinking, recast your vision for the future, rise above your circumstances, guard your heart and mind against negativity, and transcend distractions to focus on what matters most.
You can recover from setbacks, keep poisonous thoughts out of your environment, and fully enjoy the promising future that lies ahead of you when you use the resources God has given you and manage your time. Control Your Day instead of settling for merely existing when you might be thriving! Rule Your Day!!
Rule Your Day is the latest book from Joel Osteen. I've been a fan of Pastor Joel's since I saw his awesome "Supercharged" sermon in May 2021 on TV. I read his book "Peaceful on Purpose" and I found all the answers that I needed to increase my faith, trust and belief. He has the gift of encouragement and easily explains the spiritual and practical ways to serve God and receive the abundance that God wants to bring to every area of our life- finances, health, relationships, career etc. My favorite chapter in this book is Chapter 1-Rule Your Day. Life tries to push us down but we have the ability to control our atmosphere. We can choose to surround ourselves with positive, faith-filled people, music, books and/or entertainment. As a person who used to struggle with negativity, I control my environment and keep moving forward in positivity. Negativity cannot exist in a positive environment. I thank God every day for Pastor Joel's encouraging words and advice that continue to change my life for the better. I highly recommend Rule Your Day for anyone who wants to rise up and move toward your God given destiny. God's promises and blessings are waiting for you.
Pastor Joel Osteen's latest book encourages Christians to start their day off by deciding to control their mindset when it comes to letting others, and everyday situations affect how they go through the day. The writing covers topics such as daily filling up with God's direction and not being on "autopilot," to watch what people say and how they say it (speaking good things about not just others, but themselves), and the concept that when a person is struggling with issues, taking their mind off of themselves and go out to help others will end up helping them in the end. A few other topics involve avoiding being a people pleaser and digging into the power of bouncing back from bad situations. A short read that those who need a boost of positivity will enjoy helping get their morning started or to reflect at the end of the day.
These 5 weeks have been very valuable weeks to dive into the book together.
Why this book is one of the best book on earth? In our limited time on earth, God has a purpose for us to fulfill. On the way to fulfilling that goal, we need tools that help, (to make it easier for us), so that we can walk with stability, (of faith and hope) towards His-given destiny.
Rule Your Day is such a right tool for that, and The message is very easy to understand, really applicable in a daily situation, and brightened the day. :) Also, It is so comforting and hopeful, (I feel so relaxed every time after reading it.) Thanks, Ps Joel for writing this message Rule Your Day. You are such a wonderful blessing to us all!
For all who are walking torward the goals/dreams, I am sure this book will be very helpful for you, the points are very clear and it strengthens you inside. You will become a blessing for other around, just after reading it! Thanks
This is a great book to pick yourself up and start to “Rule Your Day” by putting God first in your life. The number one thing I got from this book is if you keep thinking and saying negative things about yourself and your life, these things will become the norm, they will rule you, and you will be unhappy, even make yourself sick. With God’s help, we must stay positive, keep Him close to us, talk to God everyday, and start saying something good WILL happen to me!! God is the most powerful force in the universe. He can make anything happen. He wants us to be happy! We have to take the first step and be ready for God to show us the way.
Joel Osteen has a simple message. Using faith, prayer and personal fortitude you can be in control of your own life. Rule Your Life offers common sense and personal responsibility tactics which will enhance and improve every day life. Some "rules" are repetitive and are included in his other books, nonetheless they are good reminders. Osteen uses parables and biblical references throughout book which correlates to the plan. He keeps the message simple....Don't let distractions or other people destroy your self confidence. Keeping thoughts and words positive, helping others when you are able, and praying for God's guidance will change the way you view your life.
Every now and again, I think to myself: I should check in on Joel Osteen and see how he's doing. Has he changed at all? Does he have anything to say that's worth listening to? What is he saying these days?
And I say ask these things primarily because he is the face of what they call "Prosperity Gospel" and he's the stereotypical televangelist. But he also cranks out content left and right and has an absurd number of parishioners, so... I get curious.
And it's pretty much always as I expect - as it is here. Nice, happy advice with a touch of faith and spiritualism. It's all good. It's positive vibes, y'all.
