Theodore Nott disappeared during the Battle of Hogwarts. And in the more than ten years that followed, despite relentless inquiries and searching by those who had been closest to him, no trace of him was discovered.
Eventually, Theo was no longer considered missing. He was considered dead.
Which was curious, because as Hermione peered into the eyes of the man playing the piano at a packed Muggle bar on the outskirts of Galway, Ireland, it was Theo Nott who was looking back at her.
I haven't read many Theomione fics but I absolutely adored this one. This is the last long fic from this author as I've read all her others. I cried. It was gut wrenching. The journey they had to be together was heartbreaking. Then finally they found each other and their love for each other was amazing and of course the smut was hot af. Then the truth came out and the fallout was brutal. The angst in this story broke me but the love healed me. They would sacrifice everything for each other and I'm so glad they got their HEA.
I wanted to like it, I really did. But this fic was just not for me. I would have pushed through, but the chapters are long, and I'm not that into it. I found myself cringing multiple times throughout the story. The way Hermione and Theo interacted with each other after they got together was just too sweet and sappy for me. Their dialogues were constantly filled with corny lines like, "you were made for me," and "you're heaven," blah blah blah. It got to the point where I was rolling my eyes every time they said something like that (which was a lot). Also, I know that Adrian is supposed to be the "funny gay guy," but some of the things that came out of that man's mouth were frankly weird. For example, this is chapter 13 (may be a slight spoiler?):
~~~~~ “Stop!” Hermione said sharply, putting her hand out in front of her in a stalling motion. “How many times do I need to tell you that Charlie is like a brother to me and I do not need the images of whatever grotesque things you two do in the bedroom burned into my memory.”
Adrian turned back around, smiling devilishly at Hermione. “Trust me, Granger, if you saw the man naked, you’d be changing your tune. 'Incest is best' would be your new anthem.” ~~~~~
Like whaaaaa? I couldn't see this working in an actual conversation. I think the author tried so hard to make Adrian funny in every dialogue that, at times, he went too far. Who knows, maybe one day in the future I'll finish this. But it's putting me into a slump, so I'm moving on.
I was just talking with my sister about getting into fanfiction recently and how so many unpublished writers are far better than many published authors. This fanfic could easily be adapted into a non-fantasy work and would be a huge hit among the romance reader community.
This was my first Theodore Nott/Hermione Granger ship, and I thought it was beautifully written. I’m not usually into the emotional male persona, but the backstory and the way Theo’s character was portrayed were done so well that I easily overlooked it. There were so many teary-eyed and laugh-out-loud moments—I just loved it!
**Spoilers** I did have a couple of small complaints. First, I found Adrian a little crude and socially inappropriate at times. Some of the comedy felt a bit forced, though there were still plenty of genuinely funny moments with him. Second, I would have loved to see Theo’s reaction to the birth of his daughters—how he felt the first time he laid eyes on them or held them. It would have been great to witness whether that moment alone helped ease some of his lingering fears.
One question I had that went unanswered was why Theo was unable—despite being unwilling—to reclaim his inheritance. The story mentioned that the Ministry confiscated his properties and sold off everything, but why wasn’t the money in his vault returned to him? If there was a reason, I just wish it had been explained a bit more clearly.
Also, is Blaise anybody’s best mate? Lol. He wasn’t Draco’s best man, he wasn’t Adrian’s best man, and he wasn’t Theo’s best man either.
Finally, I felt there were some inconsistencies with Draco’s character. On one hand, the writer portrayed him as someone who had truly evolved—he changed his views on blood purity and treated Hermione like a best friend, even a sister. But on the other hand, his attitude toward Theo told a different story. When finances were in question, the way he looked at Theo and some of the comments he made about his inability to provide for Hermione or himself felt really judgmental. Despite all his supposed growth, he still held onto the idea that a wizard’s worth was tied to his financial status, which made his redemption feel incomplete.
DNF at 34%. Might finish this at another time, but I lost interest in the story for now.
I loved seeing Theo and Hermione interact at Hogwarts - honestly the scenes could have been cannon with how real they felt. And it was cool getting to witness their second chance romance blossom into something beautiful, especially with how sad and tragic their initial story was.
At the 34% mark, however, I started losing interest because I felt like they had already developed a well-established relationship with each other, so I wasn’t sure where the story was going to go for the next 55% of the novel (outside of the reunion between the Slytherins). I’m a huge fan of slow-burns, and this didn’t seem like it was going to be one, so that’s why I ultimately decided to stop reading it. This story was PHENOMENAL though, and I highly recommend it! It just wasn’t for me.
my first theo fic! i’ve gotten glimpses of him in other dramione works, and i just needed more of him. this one really tugged at my heart & i loved how it brought characters i never would have thought of together. found family is a highly enjoyed trope of mine, and this story definitely satisfies that!
would recommend for someone who hasn’t read much about theo nott, this made me fall in love with him 🫶.
I was hesitant to read a Theo/ Hermione rather than a Dramione, but I loved this fic. I love how she portrayed Draco and Hermione’s relationship right out the gate and loved this Draco. It was a nice change to see Hermione with mostly Slytherins and have a break from Harry/Ron/ Gryffindors as main characters. Adrian was hilarious. Charlie Weasley is always a plus.
Theomione was great until the book became to wrapped around other pairs lives. I felt like I was skipping too much to even read it anymore. Usually I wouldn’t but there was so much that made it feel like a tv episode with just a bunch of irrelevant stuff. Bummed out cuz it was REALLY good when it was good.
This one was a lot for me emotionally but I enjoy ships that have a certain amount of tragedy to them. However I’m extremely opinionated on baby names and goddamn were the ones at the end bad. I also didn’t care for the style of the epilogue at all.
For me, this is a gold standard fiction. The emotional depth of the characters and their relationships is just perfection.
When people ask me why I read fan fiction, I will direct them to this story. This is far and away better than any published story I have read in a long time.
Angst, heartbreak, healing, banter, this has goddamn everything. Not a single fault, by far one of the best theomione or even hp fics out there. Cried so much. Theo deserves the fcking world I would die for him
