Volume 3: 2.5
Volume 4: 4

I wasn't 100% sure I believed the people who told me that the anime made a hash of the source material, but this omnibus absolutely proved it. Part of the problem is, of course, that the author notes that volume 1-3 of the series are essentially the prologue, and that they were committed to writing it this way both to differentiate it from the rest of the isekai herd and to really have the chance to develop the world and Rio. Volume four brings things to the start of the main story, and because of the preceding books, it hits harder and feels much less pat than it otherwise would have. (Incidentally, this is also basically where the anime stopped.) Knowing Rio's past in both worlds as well as Latifa's, along with the implications of how time runs differently between worlds gives this more pathos, and while I was just sort of reading because I felt I ought to before, now I'm actively looking forward to the next omnibus.

Isekai doesn't have to be rote and boring, even when it hits a lot of the usual notes.
