Invaders and Traitors and Magic! Oh, My! How did I get myself into all of this? James and Maggie are away, and it is up to me to protect Earth and the Gate until they get back. Easy-peasy, right? Except I am only fourteen. With a true mate I cannot claim because she is even younger than me. And all sorts of creatures trying to come through the Gate I am supposed to be managing. All while discovering traitors (expected), demons (unexpected) and angels (say what?) all around me. Then there is the mystery about my house, which is sort-of alive. Can’t really call it that, but… Yea. My mother created it with a purpose, which I am just now discovering. What can I do in this situation? Like any other person would do… Try to keep the invaders out, call in friends and family to help, and uncover the mysteries of my world. Alemos goes into the first major battle with those from other worlds, while pulling together the Hybrid, the Berserkers, the Omega, as well as others, to fight off those who what to strip Earth of its resources. While the True Wolf pups are a catalyst, this is not their story. Not yet. Click BUY NOW or Read for Free. Don’t miss Gatekeeper, which explains more about Alemos, as well as introduces Lark and Lily, the Gatekeeper and the Oracle.
K J Carr has always been a voracious reader, often bringing home a stack of all genres of books each week from the library as a child. She read romance, science fiction, fantasy, historical romance, self-help -- basically if it was in the library, she would read it. Luckily she was allowed into the adult section when she was around ten since she was reading eight or more books per week.
When she was older, book stores became her happy place, able to spend hours looking for books to purchase (and to increase her debt).
These books caused her imagination to soar and she started writing her own stories. Unfortunately, life got in the way and writing was put to the side for a while, albeit never forgotten.
After reading about heroines whom she just wanted to slap, she decided she would write about the characters she wanted to hang out with. Those who try to conquer their worlds with wit and snarkiness.
This has so many plot holes I don't even know where to begin. It was supposed to be a four book series and I guess the author changed her mind and now it's morphed into a hot incoherent mess that should never have seen the light of day. The absolute worst sin committed in this atrocity is she managed to sexualized 10 year olds which is beyond unforgivable. At on point the 14 year old main male character makes a comment about his 10 year old "mate" that he can glimpse the siren she's going to be. This after the 10 year old states she can't wait until they can save water by taking showers together while giving him a knowing smile. Are you freaking kidding me? How the hell Amazon even has this on their site I have no idea. There's also repeated scenes where she's with sitting on his lap, sleeping in the same bed and unbelievably at one point describing her "straddling" him while giving a massage. BLECK!!?? And to make it worse the author has the exact same scenario with the FLC,s brother and the MLC,s sister with the same respective ages. And as a very small side note to the author. Removing contractions to increase your word count is cheap. I hope this is the last we see of this horrific series.
I love supernatural stories and the more they differ from the others the better, I like to to see the different perspectives from different authors, but kids finding their mates at such a young age just feels skeevey that's the only word (if it is a word) that I could come up with to describe the excessive closeness and the touching and the sleeping together no sex of course but it's beyond intimate. Too intimate for ten year olds, after the little girl gave her "mate" a massage I just couldn't finish this book. I read the first three books in the series and they were fine, so this book caught me off guard.
I do feel the title is wrong on this one it's called alemos.that's the name of the gate and the house who has a life force living in it to help and protect the three siblings.I love the storyline and it's complexity but this author really needs to deliver a little better this book follows on from last book like it was yesterday but then there is a small comment about it being months later plus they may have had to grow up fast but that doesn't mean sexually (remember age 10 boys only just start to notice that stiff thing but don't understand yet, school only just tell them about how baby's are made at just turned 11) with all that's gone on losing parents on both sides they wouldn't be in the mood for more and would not mentally think of many things more then friends even if they are supernatural and know they are their mate (wouldn't there wolf protect them from moving to soon?) I do feel this author is taking a 10 year old minds to act to old. It spoilt it for me even the 13 year old is to really but you can just get away with that being he is nearly 14 supernatural and might of ages two more years mentally with what he has witnessed but remember that only makes him 16 mentally and trying to run things over the adults. This book is about 13 almost 14 lark who's real name is marcus (I get the name chance but really isn't that disrespectful to his mother?) So again not sure why the house has the title. I have a feeling the house will become a person later on (maybe he is like the angel just needs to build a body) This book is focussed on lark learning about himself and his power.
I had real problems with this book the start of which are the huge plot holes and ended with making me feel very uncomfortable. Below is my list: 1. Teenage/child love connection. Sultry looks, every other word is she's my mate but I can't touch her and I can't wait until she's older. She's currently 10 to your 14.... Why they would already know their mates is beyond me. I would think something like that would be tied to puberty or something. 2. James and Tessa were on their honeymoon but in the last book they were deciding if they liked each other beyond being mates. Not sure when this wedding happened, but a few months have passed I think. It was VERY foggy with the details. Also, they flew across the ocean during an invasion war. Who thought that was a good idea for the King and Queen Omega to do.... 3. Evangeline is James' mother? When did we learn about her and how in the world can lexi introduce anyone?? (pg 185). Again, plot hole where they met and got to know each other and now we've introduced another new character with no connection. I know you want to move the story forward, but it took half the book to figure out James' mother was awake and we "supposedly" met her earlier in their timeline but certainly not ours. 4. I felt like Konner's story should have come before Lark/Marcus. Not sure why, but I think it would have flowed better.
I'm going to keep reading the series, but this one with the Child romance was not okay!
I found this book to be somewhat tedious to read. So many details about different characters and their powers. However, I slowed down and began to enjoy it more. K J Karr develops the younger characters slowly. Although in thought and action it's hard to remember they are only 10. The darkness comes from the characters you expect, but the form it takes is not predictable. Was glad to see Lark use his humanity in the last event and doubly glad Koran is gone. Excellent read for those who love dtagons and enjoy fantasy at its best.
This book was jammed packed with information it went from Zero - Full Speed so fast that it was difficult to keep up with all the plots who was with who, what skills they had and why, I got quite dizzy with it all and needed to rest.
That said it is a very interesting story that moved from wolves, to magical powers, to Dragons and other shifters. Gate Keepers, Protectors and Oracles.
Can you please keep writing these sho we'r can continue down this adventure? I love how there characters are all growing into who they are, if possible could you continue?
I now realized why I couldn't get into this series, it because it's a read for juveniles and I am way too old for the series. All thoughts, actions and caring for one another was written for a 14 year old to comprehend and enjoyed.
Just wow. Seriously this series just gets better and better. What an amazing storyteller this author is. I am enjoying these books so very much. S many characters, so much action and finally one of the bad guys is gone!
Another awesome book for this series. I don't want it to end. I get so caught up in the different characters. There are so many twists and turns you just keep reading page after page not wanting to stop. On to #5...
I have really enjoyed reading these books. This one revealed so much and yet left me wanting more. The characters are unique and yet similar. This is great writing.
