What's the one thing a footballer will do when he retires? He will look into the possibility of moving into football management, but for Jamie Spank, his next career move isn't going to be as easy as that. Clapham Wanderers need a new manager, Clapham Wanderers are a top London club struggling to survive in their division – Clapham Wanderers are a female only football team.
Jamie Spank believes he has the knowledge and skills to run any football club in the world, but what he doesn't expect to find is a changing room full of strong minded women, ready to put his dribbling skills to the ultimate test.
An adult comedy, where what goes on in the female mind, definitely won't be staying in the dressing room any time soon!
A very strong story about women in football and how they take their personal problem out onto the pitch. The manager obviously doesn't know what to do about it, then somehow always seems to listen, then comically fall over the thing that will help. An adult style comedy with plenty of sex talk between character and a lot of fun
What I thought was going to be a sexist comedy about football and girls playing it, turned out to be an hilarious female empowering statement written by a man. The characters were all pretty strong, the storyline about a man not knowing women at all, great. It was just a lot of fun to read.
If you take the book for what it's written for (COMEDY) then we will all just be fine. Otherwise, easily offensive, sexist in places, crude and soccer, yuk!! I enjoyed it
A comedy written by a man, solid on feminism and empowering woman. Football is the theme, their personal relationships the ultimate focus, the male manager without a clue.
It's as though comedian Jimmy Tudeski takes a situation that would make him nervous in real life, then goes and writes a fictional comedy around those feelings. A man in a changing room, managing a female football team. Everyone else would think he would sex it up, then his character become something of a perv. Jimmy however creates a genius situation, that sees the women turn on him, they be the ones who tell the sexist jokes, then him actual help the team to improve in the long run because of it. This is a very funny book, one that will certainly cheer you up, where although it is about football, that's surprising not it's main theme.
Was this a comedy? Was this a sports book? Was this an attempt for the author to throw self help at his CV? Yes to all the above is what I think and somehow it just worked. A locker room full of women all with their own issues, A man manager not having a clue how to deal with anything female related, then a team trying to play soccer in the middle. A crazy idea from a talented comedian, where he even tried to place a little romance in there too. Enjoyable, entertaining, female empowering, great little story.
I've got to admit, I'm more a fan of Tudeski memoirs than I am his fictional stuff, but I had to read this one. Jimmy Tudeski has proven time and time again that he is a very talented comedian, but would he pull off the writing of a book about women in the changing room? The answer is yes!!! Strong female characters, as though he knows each one of them personally, with plenty of feminist topics to empower those characters. A witty little book, with plenty of fun and smut.
I can't say I know much about soccer or any sport for that matter, but this was quite an empowering comedy focused on women's mental heath and lifestyle issues. Jamie wasn't only a soccer coach, he became a play thing for many of the players and some kind of positive in their lives too. This was a very enjoyable read.
A loveable coach walks into a new team full of very opinionated and strong woman, so guess what happens next. This is a simple comedy about football, where it's more important to sort out the dressing room, than it is to get results out on the pitch. A very enjoyable comedy with a little of smut involved.
I don't like football at all, but what a funny book. Seven strong female characters, all written by a man, with feminism in mind, nothing else. I never would have thought a book about boring football would have made me laugh so much.
What I thought was going to turn out a smutty story about a male manager in a female changing room, turned out to be a smutty story about those female players smutting it up around a nervous male professional. A very funny book, quite an eye opener too.
